Lexie's POV: I was woken up by footsteps coming my way. I shot up in bed. It took me a few moments to recap where I was and what I was doing. How long had I been asleep? The footsteps were coming closer. Panic rose in me as I looked around the room to find a place to hide. I rolled over and moved into one of the cupboards. I let the door open just enough to see through a little gap into the room.
Seconds later, Lupin walked into the room. He shut the door and with his wand presumably locked it. His gaze wandered around the room, as he carefully inspected the inventory.
Had he seen me coming into here? I really couldn't afford any more detention.
He pulled a pair of candles out of the cupboard over the desk. How did he know they were there? Lupin moved around in this room as if he had been here before, but how? When? And why? Question after question was going through my mind as I watched Lupin lighten the candle and place it onto a shelf on the top. He pointed his wand at it, but I couldn't understand the spell. Finally, he unpacked his bag with notes and books on the table and started scribbling again.
This was my chance. I had to get out of here before he noticed my presence. Carefully, I opened the cupboard. Professor Lupin was still focused on his work, so I tried to step outside the cupboard when I was pulled back. I looked around to see my cloak stuck between two sheets of wood. I tried to pull, but it wouldn't move. I was so focused on my cloak that I did not notice the horror unfolding behind me.
Lupin groaned and my head shot back just in time to see him growling in pain as his body slowly transferred. Grey fur started growing out of his skin as his whole posture changed.
I sat on the floor, paralysed with shock. I could not move, all I did was stare at the full-grown wolf standing on the other side of the room.
A little whimper escaped my mouth and the wolf turned his head to face me. He clenched his teeth and in one jump crossed the distance between us, ramming his teeth into my thigh. I screamed as pain shot through my body like I never experienced before. Adrenalin rushed through my veins as I pointed my wand at the wolf.
"Flipendo!" The wolf flew a few metres backwards, while I conjured up every protective spell that came into my mind and when the wolf tried to pounce on me again, an invisible wall in front of me stopped him. In a panic, I tore drawers from the shelf behind me until I had found the ingredients I needed. I could feel the blood loss dull my senses. With all my concentration I applied a mixture of powdered silver and dittany to the fresh bite. Waves of pain ran through my body as the wound began to seal. The last thing I saw before passing out was the wolf strolling up and down my magical defence.
