Chapter four: The Snow Queen.
Jack's breath caught in his throat as he tensed up ready to jump into the sky and get as far away from here as possible.
The woman then took a step towards him before beckoning him to follow her. Jack hesitated as he thought this over. After a few minutes the woman took another step.
"Come on." she whispered. Jack finally caved and jumped down onto the ground. She quickly grabbed his hand and
Jack followed her silently as she led him up a grand staircase and through an assortment of hallways before stopping in front of a white door that was painted with a design of tulips on the frame. Jack froze as he realized the design was the same as the one that had appeared in the crystal's light.
The woman pushed it open and hastily ushered Jack in before firmly closing it.
"Your Jack Frost?" she asked in amazement.
"Yes, umm who are you?"
"Anna.."
"Cool…how can you see me?"
"I what…"
"Nothing. Nothing." Jack said quickly.
"Can you prove it to me?" Anna breathed after a moment. "That you're not lying.."
"Sure? I…ok…yeah." Jack nodded as he gently pushed her onto a nearby bed.
Anna watched him in giddy amazement as he gripped his staff and walked over to a small window. Jack slid his staff over the glass causing a trail of frost to spread over it. Tracing his finger through he managed to make an outline of a small bird. He placed his hand under it and closed his eyes as if in deep concentration.
Anna watched in amazement as the frost outline separated itself from the glass and became solid and landed in the palm of Jack's hand. She gasped in amazement as a smile began to spread across her face.
Jack then turned to her a small bird made entirely of frost nestled in the palm of his hand. Jack then smiled at her and threw it into the air. The bird's wings spread midair and it soared through the air effortlessly. Anna laughed happily as she watched it dip through the air and soar upwards again. After a few minutes it faded into the air and a small thing of snow then began to fall from the sky.
"You really are Jack Frost." Anna said in a mix of disbelief and happiness and she ran a hand through her hair.
"The one and only." Jack smiled as he felt a tug of pride in his chest. He then waved his staff and the snow melted midair and the room returned to normal.
"You're like her." Anna smiled.
"Who?" Jack asked, turning to her.
"She'll be so happy to find out you exist, we didn't think there with magic like her." Anna laughed.
"Wait Anna slow down now who is this?" Jack said, walking over to her.
"My sister The snow queen."
"The snow queen?" Jack said slowly, letting the words roll off his tongue.
"Are you from here?" Anna then asked, looking at Jack.
"No, I'm from…" Jack then trailed off suddenly aware that he wasn't sure where he was.
"Anna, where am I?" Jack then asked slowly.
"Arendalle in Norway, why?" Anna then asked.
"Just curious." Jack then said, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. "What year is it? I've never heard of Arendalle."
"It's 1848." Anna said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"Oh, it is?" Jack gasped as he struggled to keep his face from showing his shock. "I…I yeah I definitely am not from around here."
"Where are you from?" Anna asked, folding her hands in her lap.
"I'm afraid I can't tell you that, also I must go." Anna opened her mouth to say more when Jack rose to his feet and exited the room.
Jamie sat patiently in his tree in the park as he waited for a specific spirit to drop by. He had wrapped himself in blankets and winter gear and had a thermostat of coco in his hands. Suddenly a cold gust of wind blew through the leaves of the tree alerting him of Jack's presents.
"I need to tell you something!" Jack said as he landed next to him on the small platform.
"What?" Jamie said, snuggling deeper into his blanket fort. Jack took a breath and then explained everything that had happened in the last twenty-hours, about how he had met Anna and learned about the snow queen.
"Wow, so there's someone like you out there?" Jamie breathed once he had finished.
Jamie beamed at Jack, ecstatic that someone was like his friend. "Have you talked to them yet?" Jamie asked as he watched Jack absentmindedly trace patterns of frost on the bark of the tree.
"Huh." Jack said, snapping his head up. "Uh, no they can't see me."
Jamie's smile faded as he felt a twinge of sympathy for Jack. He couldn't imagine what it was like to find out there was someone like you and you were completely invisible to them.
"I'm sorry." Jamie whispered to Jack. "It's not your fault." Jack reassured him.
"Maybe you could make them believe in you."
"I-I don't know Jamie." Jack said, rubbing the back of his neck.
"You should at least try."
"I'll try." Jack promised him.
Hope you guys enjoyed this chapter! (Maybe we'll see more of Arendelle soon.) Hope you guys are having a good holiday season so far. :D
I know Arendalles castle doesn't seem to have many balconies but I felt like since we never see the King and Queens room/quarters It would be fun to add a balcony. (Also plot convenience.) ;)
Peace!
