~~~Recap~~~
*A few days later*
(Y/n) gasps for air, waking up from a coma-like state. In cold sweat runs down their spine, pushes their body to sit up in the bed. (Y/n)'s pain coursed through her body not knowing that they received more than just a headache that night before she blacked out. Trying to calm down breath, they glance around the room for signs of familiarity. (Y/n) felt her body making sure every limb is still intact until she notices the new features on her arms. Red bruises of lightning defined the arms, with a concerning look, (Y/n) checks her chest seeing a few of the same streaks on the right side of the chest and diagonally below the chest on the left side.
"...What the fuck happened to me?"
-(Y/n)'s P.O.V.-
I hear a nurse come into the room. She flinches as makes eye contact with me, yet cautiously walks in closer.
"Uhhm..is everything alright? " I gave her a concerned look.
She checks her clipboard. "Huh? Oh yes. Ms. (L/n), w-welcome back. Do you know where you are?"
I raise an eyebrow, this is even more suspicious than before. "I am in a hospital, with pain throughout my body and new scars. What exactly happened to me?"
"You have been in a coma for almost a month now, Ms.(L/n)" She relaxes as she responds. "An ambulance brought you here after the S.T.A.R Labs explosion and aftermath."
My eyes widened, (F/n) and Cisco were still at the event! I started to remember that night, the phone call from Nick, our group reunion and the assault. My head pounded from the sudden realizations.
"Are (F/n) (L/n) and Cisco Ramon here?! Or Caitlin Snow?!" I blurted, slightly scaring the nurse once again. Why is she so scared?
"I am not so s-s-ure, there are a lot of patients at the moment since the incident, I will check if they are here after checking your vitals."
"Are you sure you're okay? I can't help but notice that you are flinching quite a lot."
"I apologize, you see there was an incident with you while you were in a coma. I don't know the details but my coworkers have told me to be cautious."
"Uh-huhhh..." That's pretty damn rude. What could I possibly do to harm anyone? And what could have possibly happened to me. I'm sure I'm not dead, so I can't be a walking dead man.
The nurse eventually finished checking my vitals. She had told me that the doctor would explain the situation with me and would figure out if my friends were also in the hospital. About an hour or so had passed by and the doctor came in, not flinching like the nurse but his body showed signs of caution. What the hell happened and why won't anyone tell me?
The doctor informed me of the incident of me knocking out a trio of nurses when I went into cardiac arrest. In a way, it makes sense why the nurse reacted the way she did, but still pretty rude for a patient first thing waking up from a coma. I was explained about my new scars, and it needing medical treatment for about a week. Physical Therapy was also strongly recommended, unfortunately the hospital's physical therapist have their hands full of many other patients so I gotta find my own. So much for saving money. I asked for my friends if they were also here. I was given good and bad news, Cisco was not in the hospital. However, (F/n) wasn't so lucky, the explosion put her into a critical condition of severe burns and many bone fractures due to the blast. No visitors are allowed as she's going through intense treatment.
Although Cisco was lucky to not get hurt, I couldn't sigh in relief entirely. (F/n)'s state put my worry on high, the weight of leaving her there at the event felt heavy. If I didn't leave, would have I been able to run away and save us? My mind overwhelmed, tears started to swell up as I bit the inside of my cheek to hold it in. My best friend is in worse condition and who knows if they'll make it. I hope they do.
It's been a few days of medical treatment for my scars. They haven't vanished but at least the pain has subsided. No more treatment for the scars will be given since my vitals prove that I am healthy, the marks are just there now. The doctor gave me the good to go, but to come back for check ups if anything weird happens.
On a side note, I am out of (F/N)'s depressing hospital room, her conditions are still in terrible state, being monitored day in and day out. At least, I'm able to visit her now while managing the damn responsibilities, it's gotten difficult staying on top of rent and maintaining the bills at bay. Plus, Cisco had offered to cover the physical therapy at S.T.A.R. Labs, which the doctor recommended me to do since my body recovered at a rapid state. Mentioning my strange state, Cisco said he would talk to Caitlin about running some blood tests and see if they can find anything.
Walking out into the lobby, a police officer comes in my direction and introduces himself wanting to ask a few questions. Apparently, the Central City Police department wanted to question me about the assault before the explosion of that night some time during that week.
"Ms. (L/N), I am Joe West, I'm a detective officer in the CCPD, do you have a moment to spare? " the officer shows his badge for confirmation.
"Hello Officer West-"
"Please call me Joe" He corrects me and offers a handshake. I oblige.
"Detective Joe, what can I help you with?"
"I'm here to ask you about an open investigation about an assault the night of the S.T.A.R. Labs explosion, specifically how you were found under rubble of an electrical explosion. Near the site, were two bodies burnt to a crisp. Do you remember what happened to you before you lost consciousness?"
I take a moment to think back to that night. A headache pounds the back of my head, giving me a small flashback to that night. I explained how I was making my way to work after being called in, I got assaulted and ran into the electrical yard through a hole in the fence. Officer Joe takes a few notes in a notepad he took out from his coat. He thanks me for the information and taking the time to answer his questions.
"On another note, how did you find me?" I ask.
"That night of the explosion also affected a family member of mine. Luckily, you weren't sent into a coma like him and survived from an electrical tower shock instead."
My expression glooms. (F/n)'s conditions come back into my mind, causing my headache to string a nerve.
"Unlike a friend of mine... " Officer Joe gives me a confused look. I continued, "My best friend wasn't so lucky that night, she's in critical condition because of the explosion too."
"Oh, I apologize. You care deeply for your friend, don't you?" He gives me an apologetic smile.
"We've been through many good and bad times. She had my back and I had hers. It's natural to care about her despite not being blood-related. Even if she ended up leaving, she was more of a family to me than my own."
Joe nods understanding, he concludes our conversation saying if there's more to report about the incident to contact him. He hands me his card and walks to the receptionist desk. I walk out the hospital, taking a hard sniff to clear up my stuffy nostrils. The scent of sterilized building is replaced by cold dry wind.
*Time Skip*
The shuffling of grocery bags stopped as I placed them on the table of the apartment. I sent Cisco a quick text about my visit to the Doctors a few days back, telling him these newly acquired scars aren't going away anytime soon. He responds with a joke to lighten my mood. As I'm writing my response, a call interrupts my typing. I check the caller ID, it's from the hospital. I answer the call and listen to the caller...my voice hitches and I feel my stomach drop.
"Thank you for informing me, I'm on my way right now."
~Cisco's P.O.V.~
I get a call instead of a text message from (Y/N), I pick up.
"Hello?"
"Cisco, get to the hospital now!"
