The next day Jonathan comes home excited to show his mother his report card. Getting straight As, the child is most excited to give her the letter his teacher sends before finding out he needs to join an extracurricular activity. With Tony's help Jonathan decides to join gymnastics. Wanting to make his mom proud, the boy does his best to win his first match, but ends up trying a new routine and breaking his shoulder. When Angela finds out she accuses Tony of breaking her child. Later that afternoon with Jonathan tucked in bed excited to watch TV in his room, Angela finds Tony in the garage tracking down bugs for her son's lizards. Apologizing to Tony, Angela lets him accept it before he asks about the spider crawling up her leg. With a slight scream the blonde quickly realizes Tony is teasing her.
Asking what it would be like to be a gymnast, Tony encourages his wife to try the gymnast rings. Helping her up, Angela is dismayed when Tony starts to leave the room. Sheer terror on her face, Angela eventually gets down, albeit with Tony's help five minutes later. She immediately stops speaking to him.
"Yo, Angela I'm sorry!" Tony states following the woman inside. Seething, Angela refuses to listen to him as she storms through the house and up the stairs. Mona simply watches from her perch on the couch eager to see what domestic squabble the newlyweds have gotten into now. She soon finds out when Tony sighs in frustration and stays downstairs.
"What did you do this time?" Mona teases causing Tony to roll his eyes at his mother in law. Putting his hands in his pockets, Tony states, "If you must know, I left Angela on the gymnastic rings."
"Tony!"
"I came back a few minutes later to let her down," Tony replies before realizing how insensitive his action was adding, "You know, Mona. I think I messed up with this one. I'm gonna go talk to her."
"You could do a lot more than talk," Mona remarks as Tony makes his way upstairs. Knocking on the door, Tony waits a moment before knocking again.
"Angela," He calls hoping she will answer him.
"Go away!" Angela yells back sitting on her bed wondering why she decides to marry Tony in the first place if he is going to leave her stranded. When he calls her name again and also adds a 'please', Angela finally relents and gets up to let him inside her room. As soon as he enters the room, Tony closes the door and immediately apologizes.
"I let my teasing get out of hand and overstepped."
Crossing her arms and stepping back a step, Angela answers, "It's alright."
"No, it's not. You trusted me and I let you down," Tony insists. He barely hears Angela mumble something about abandoning her which makes Tony wonder how much Michael affected her. Angela gives him his answer stating, "You almost left the room and even though it has nothing to do with it, I had a sudden memory of Michael leaving me for the first time. It's silly. This was nothing like that. You came back a few minutes later and I know you'd never abandon the family."
Sensing how closed off Angela starts to get, Tony holds out his arms and invites her in for an embrace. Holding her, Tony whispers, "I'd never willingly leave you."
Sniffling, Angela answers, "I know."
Breaking their embrace, Tony steps back to look at Angela for a moment before saying, "I love you."
Surprise coloring her face, Angela soon smiles broadly answering, "I love you, too."
After a pause, Tony asks Angela if she will be alright. Nodding, she replies, "I will be."
Looking around the room, Tony remarks how he should probably leave before anything happens while one of the kids could come in. Just as Tony grabs the door handle, Angela states, "Tony, the kids and Mother will be gone this weekend."
Now it is her turn to cause a grin on Tony's face as he tells her, "This weekend, huh? Beats sneaking around in your office or the garage."
"Tony!" Angela laughs as he leaves.
By the weekend, Tony and Angela are eagerly sending their children off with their friends. Angela, being the caring mother she is drives Jonathan to his friend's house considering his shoulder is still broken. As she helps him out of the car, Angela asks for the last time, "You're sure you want to stay with Tommy?"
Nodding, Jonathan answers, "We're going to see how many things I can break with my cast!"
Breathing in slightly annoyed, Angela plasters a smile to her face before kissing her son on the head and telling him to have fun before handing the boy's bag to Tommy's older sister who is standing at the door. When Angela goes home she is immediately met with the smell of Italian food.
"I'm home!" She calls out. Finding Tony in the kitchen, she is immediately met with a wooden spoon with pasta sauce.
"Delicious as always," Angela answers. Her words are enough for him to turn the burner off. Turning to Angela, the couple share a smile. Smiling at each other widely almost giddy at the prospect of having the entire house to themselves, the couple is almost at a loss at what to do until Tony practically purrs, "What do you want to do first?"
Eyes trailing over her new husband, Angela answers, "I can think of a few things."
"Save dinner for later?" He asks putting a lid on the sauce pot.
"Meet you upstairs," Angela answers kissing Tony good bye and practically running up the stairs. Throwing his apron off, Tony quickly follows her.
When they eat the dinner Tony makes later, the couple is surprisingly at a loss for words. Taking a sip of wine, Angela finally asks, "Tony? Do you think the kids suspect anything?"
"Um, I don't think so. Do you want them to know?" Tony asks tentatively. Taking in a breath, Angela answers, "I don't know. It would be nice, but-"
"But you're afraid of what they'll think?"
"That and it leads to so much more confusion."
Putting his fork down, Tony asks, "Confusion, huh?"
"Confusion for the kids," Angela explains.
"Yeah," Tony states softly, "The kids."
The couple is quiet for maybe five minutes longer until Tony asks, "Hey, uh, Angela are you confused by our relationship?"
"Not necessarily. We got married. We're married."
"We just can't do anything about it," Tony begins, "Well except when the kids are away."
"Yeah," Angela answers wondering if their relationship will always be a secret. After a moment, she asks, "Do you think our relationship will ever not be a secret?"
"I hope so Angela. I really hope so," Tony answers before their conversation goes toward talking about the kids and their trip to D.C. in the next couple weeks.
After that weekend the newlyweds share glances and sneak kisses in between the kids being out of the room, but the fact they can do nothing but flirt gets to the both of them.
"We need to get away, just the two of us," Tony remarks a few weeks after their weekend alone. He comes into Angela's office under the pretense of dusting, but in all honesty he needs to talk to her away from the kids or Mona. Taking her glasses off, Angela asks, "Tony, I have this campaign."
"And we have this marriage," He announces eager to work on their new relationship status adding, "We've barely been able to be a couple since we got married."
"We had that weekend together when the kids went to their friends' houses," Angela points out to which she gets an eyebrow raise and a disapproving look. Standing up from her chair, Angela comes around her desk telling Tony, "You're right. I'm sorry."
Eyes lighting up, Tony asks, "How do you feel about Maine?"
Confused, Angela answers, "Really?"
"Sounds good to me! We can go this weekend," Tony smiles just as Angela announces, "Alright. We'll go away this weekend."
"Good, I already booked a room! You'll love it!"
Smirking, Angela announces, "Speaking of love, I need yours and mother's help with some mailers for work."
As the adults address and stuff envelopes, Mona cannot help asking about the couple's marriage adding, "You're coming up to about a month now."
"A month of bliss, Mona. A month of bliss," Tony announces as Angela remarks about being tired of sneaking around. Teasing, Mona states, "Don't stop on my account."
"Very funny," Tony answers putting the envelope he has in front of the dog who licks the seal. The group continues in silence for a little longer until Tony asks about how the business is actually doing.
They finish the last of the mail just as Samantha comes home announcing she gets to be a councelor on the Y camp trip to D.C. that weekend. Congratulating her, the adults are also excited when Jonathan asks if he can go. With both kids being gone for the weekend, Tony and Angela share a knowing look before he goes out with the dog to mail the envelopes. Once Tony leaves, Angela asks her mom if they can talk before she can get away. To keep her from leaving, Angela explains, "'Mother, I want to talk to you about something very personal and intimate.'"
"'I'm free,'" Mona states sitting on the couch.
"'As you know', Tony and I have been married for a month now, 'and he wants me to go to Maine with him this weekend. Just the two of us.'"
"'Do you know what that means?'" Angela asks when her mother keeps quiet. Dryly, Mona asks, "'Your skin will clear up?'"
"'Mother, it means our relationship is going to change. Be more comitted, more invested with each other'," Angela announces excited to have the chance to get away from home and the state and officially be alone with her new husband.
"'Angela are you going up there to get it on or buy real estate?'" Mona asks trying to figure out what her daughter is getting at.
"'Mother!'" Angela exasperatedly explains while Mona remarks, "'You're married to the man!'"
Her daughter's eyes go wide hoping the kids cannot hear them. The last thing they need is the kids to find out.
"'What do you want me to say? You should go to Maine?'" Mona asks confused by what her daughter is driving at. Getting the answer she wants, Angela hugs her mother thanking her.
"Honestly, you two should take a week. Make a regular honeymoon out of it," Mona suggests adding with a shrug, "Come back with another grandchild."
"Mother!" Angela nearly blushes just as Tony walks in asking what they are talking about. Looking at Tony, Angela tells him about the trip to Maine.
"You should hear about the hotel, Mone! It's great! A balcony overlooking the ocean," Tony starts before glancing at Angela and realizing he wants to keep some things a surprise.
"Are you even going to be looking at the ocean?" Mona teases suggestively.
"Nah, my view will be much prettier," Tony announces gazing at Angela who blushes before uncharacteristically squeezing Tony's hand before telling him she is going to check on Jonathan's packing list knowing he will try to smuggle his lizard into his suitcase. She just hopes there are few surprises for her and Tony's trip.
