Once the kids relax for about an hour after their trip, they immediately begin telling their parents about how much fun they had. Talking over each other, the children are oblivious to glances Tony and Angela give each other. The parents happily listen to what they are told smirking as Sam intermittently corrects Jonathan or Jonathan interjects a remark here or there. Each adult is happy to know their children get along so well and any glances given is almost a reassurance that their family is perfect the way it is and neither wants the moment to end. However, Monday comes around and the kids go back to school and the adults go back to work. Tony and Angela find themselves creating a new routine for each other in the weeks following their weekend getaway. Similar to their normal routine so as not to cause suspicion between the kids, but filled with Tony waking Angela with a kiss good morning and at night talking about their days.
The newlyweds are still very much in a bliss regarding their marriage, and nothing seems to put a damper on it. Mona finds the couple a little nauseating, but is mostly just happy they are together. A little less than a week later, Samantha talks about trying out for the basketball team causing Tony and Angela to have a competition of their own involving mini golf. When Angela wins she holds it over Tony, teasing him until Tony asks for a rematch. Before the rematch can begin, the couple has to put parenting at the forefront. Talking to Sam about still trying out for the basketball team instead of trying to impress a boy, the couple is happy when Sam agrees to try out for the team. Once the teenager leaves, Angela compliments her husband on his part of their talk with Sam saying, "'Tony, that was very sensitive and understanding and liberated.'"
"'And painful'," Tony announces sinking into the kitchen chair. Squeezing his shoulder, Angela tells Tony how great a father he is.
"But not at mini-golf," He laments. With a laugh, Angela teases, "We can't be great at everything."
Their competiton is soon put to an end the same day of Samantha's basketball tryouts. When her dad and Angela come home from their game, the teenager tells them about her trying out for the team and making first string. Proud of his daughter, Tony announces his win at mini-golf declaring the day a great one for the Micellis until Tony comes to the conclusion that his wife may have let him win. Asking her about it, Tony is met with Angela's faux innocent, "'Now why would I do a thing like that?"
"'Who knows why women do anything. But did you?'" He questions again hoping he did not win out of pity. Standing closer to her husband, Angela answers, "'Of course not. You are a big strong man and you beat weak little me.'"
Walking past him, Angela puts her arms around Samantha's shoulders as the girls head inside.
"'Even when they lose they win'," Tony remarks to himself while trying to pick up what is left of his ego. Making dinner that night, Tony is surprised to find Angela enter the kitchen instead of one of the kids.
"Hey, Angela," Tony greets not expecting his wife to be uncharacteristically silent. Turning toward her as he mixes the pasta sauce on the stove, Tony asks, "Are you okay?"
"I could be asking you the same thing. Would you be mad if I let you win?" Angela asks hesitantly as she crosses her arms. Confused, Tony answers her truthfully, "No. What brought this on?"
Shrugging, Angela answers, "I don't know. Sometimes I feel like I'm going to make you angry somehow. I'm probably overthinking things."
Tony nods not wanting to keep his wife from talking further. He knows she will given the chance. Less than a minute later, Angela explains, "I thought you wouldn't mind-"
"I don't."
"And then I thought of your baseball days and if someone had let you win on the field, how angry you'd be. I, I don't want something like a game of mini-golf to derail something precious."
"Oh, ay, oh. Angela, a game of mini golf isn't going to ruin our relationship. Are you kidding me?" Tony asks turning the stove down to a simmer. Motioning her toward him, Tony takes Angela's hand at first and kisses it stating, "This relationship means so much more to me than a game. You're my best friend."
"Thank you, Tony," Angela whispers trying to keep thoughts of Michael out of her head. Somehow this marriage is bringing up some of the old feelings from her previous marriage. Something she thought she had a handle on. Explaining a little of this to Tony, he quickly wraps his arms around his wife stating, "You are so much more than Michael ever gave you credit for. Look at you! You're gorgeous, started your own business, run a tight household, have an amazing son. Hey, you even play a mean game of mini-golf. You will never see me not cheering you on."
With a weak smile, Angela thanks her husband for the pep talk.
"You're welcome," Tony replies before asking if she wants to taste the pasta sauce adding, "I snuck in some pureed carrots. I've noticed Jonathan doesn't eat the vegetables I put in his lunch."
"It tastes wonderful," Angela praises. Meeting Tony's gaze, the couple comes in for a quick kiss.
It seems as if Tony and Angela's feelings are catching because Jonathan comes home the next week asking Tony if he can invite a girl named Jenny over for cookies and milk. Both Tony and Angela are excited to see the little boy with his first date, however Jonathan immediately becomes upset when he finds out that Jenny has a crush on Tony. Deciding to sleep outside, Jonathan gets the idea to hit Tony with a rock when Sam gives him a pep talk using the story of David and Goliath. Dreaming he actually kills Tony, Jonathan immediately gets over his anger when a very alive Tony wakes the boy from his nightmare. Deciding to be friends again, Tony offers to camp out with Jonathan. The next morning, Tony wakes up to Angela telling him she has breakfast. Watching Tony crawl out from the tent makes Angela laugh a little to herself surprised that the man lasted so long. Asking him teasingly how he slept, Angela sits beside him on the ground only to tell her husband the bad news that Jonathan came inside around ten o'clock at night. Commenting on how he did stay out all night, Angela tells her husband, "'I brought you a hearty Pioneer breakfast. Quiche, croissant, and café ole.'"
"'Pioneers'," Tony scoffs amidst a yawn.
"'Okay, French Pioneers'," Angela replies as she picks up the croissant and places it in Tony's mouth. Confused at how the event occurs, Tony finishes his bite before asking, "Did you plan this?"
Smirking, Angela teases, "With a little help from Mother."
Three weeks later, the family enters the house with Samantha on Tony's shoulders. Having just won her game, Samantha is ecstatic, more so when her new date comes to pick her up. Kissing her dad good-bye the teenager leaves Tony and Angela alone in the living room where they comment on how tall his daughter's date is.
"You think we should go on a date?" Angela asks wanting to have a nice night out with Tony. Smiling, Tony answers, "I'd like that."
Before any plans can be made, the couple hears Jonathan call from the kitchen, "Has anyone seen the popcorn?"
Sharing a look as if to say 'parenthood never ends', the adults head into the kitchen to help the boy.
