Nothing much left to give. Nothing much left to waste. Somehow Catherine could relate to this. Caught up by an sudden helicopter's roaring up sound being lifted up from the ground, she blinked her eyes out through the blinding light and pushed herself to up to her feet with all the strength she had and rose up her head up to the light.
Only to watch up and slowly rising it up to the sky and by pulling up the man of her life away. Trapped up into a fish net. Her breath got caught up by the horrifying sight.Vincent!
Oh God. No! It couldn't be. He couldn't be caught up not like this. No. Cat rushed up just in time and caught up Vincent by grabbing his hand as she lashed out his name in a haste. Much as he had done back. By grabbing her hand when he held her back with despair.
"Vincent!"
His eyes were still glowing from the sudden injection she'd given him to fight up back an avenging and beastly Gabe who laid down onto the floor from the rooftop, unmoving and probably dead. But it didn't mattered to her, anymore. The only matter it was about to keep him safe. Keep Vincent safe from any harm.
She swored him once, and wasn't about to let that word slip out, in anytime either.Vincent, I'm not gonna let anything happen to you.. She wasn't about to let him go. She couldn't. With what they have been accomplished in hard times to be together. With her mother being gone with many unanswered secrets being thrown up to her face and with her father's life holding up onto an uncertain fate and even if Heather looked certain that he was gonna be okay, Cat didn't looked certain that he was gonna make it alive. Something through her gut had told her otherwise. And yet, by almost having a normal life with Vincent. With Vincent almost getting himself cured. Oh God. He should have had hated her after she made him reverse the cure from Gabe's so medical pills. But he didn't.
Through the light, Vincent's glowing eyes faded back up into his warming hazel ones as they were imploring her to not let him go away. Please, don't let go! But the helicopter's movement to raise up had only made it more impossible to support each other's strength, although. She could pull it through. They both could do it, by staying together. And by staying together, they could overcome anything.
But how long enough?
Her eyes burned as much as she felt her heart pushing up by any beat it could manage. She didn't wanted to let it go. To let him go as much when she promised him that she wouldn't let anything happen to him, but was she strong enough to not let it happen? Could she keep such a promising thing to for a human to keep? Could Vincent force her up to keep that word against her own strength. Could he? No. He loved her far too much, and he would understand. He had known she wasn't Wonder Woman or so whatever. Just a woman in love who tried to do the best she could to protect him from harm. Save him from any danger of exposing or worse, put her into danger because of his own pathetic desicions. Life in hiding looked far more easier before he had her involved into his complicated life. Before he had meet, watched and fell for her even. This brave and amazing woman deserved better than he had given her for the couple mouths they've spent together. She could and find someone better than him.
Catherine watched Vincent clutchering up his eyes shut and felt his fingers slip away from her when the helicopter was finally starting to rise up to the sky, much to her horror. No. He couldn't leave her. No. No! She tried so badly to still keep up her fingers throuygh his, but his fingers were letting her strength slip away and it was from that moment when his eyes had caught up hers much as he totally understood. It was totally alright to let things go, even if they were hard enough to go through with.
"Catherine." Her name mouthed up from his mouth in silent when he let his fingers go from hers. He couldn't let her get noticed from the people's who held him up captive and didn't wanted her to be in anymore danger, than she already had been. And she couldn't always be there to protect him forever. She felt him slippering away from her hold as his hauntening eyes never left hers. He never left hers as he was pulled away with the helicopter and with her still standing up onto the roof as she watched the engine walking away with the man that made her heart beat vanishing away as the flashing light faded away, when everything went dark to her.
Much as she was struggling with her burning tears waiting to fall over when she realized that he was gone.
That she had lost him into the night. But she would go between hell and heaven to find him back.
Even onto a skipped heartbeat.
...
Three months later.
Catherine had gotten herself shaken up awake by her own alarming phone. Oh crap. She didn't meant to fall up alsleep onto the table and coming up from her own appartement with her computer on. While she worked onto many missing cases, lately and hopping it would somehow bring him more close to ever finding Vincent again after three months of him being missing away ever since that alternacation with Gabe and with him getting captured instead of the ex-male beast. And what's worse in all this? It was her father had died of complications of his accident and even if she and Heather had given both of their blood to save him but it wasn't much enough.
Cat sniffed back up as she closed up her phone from awakening up the others neighbours from the building. 5am. Damn. It was very damn early to get pretty shaken up. She tried to get ahold of herself by recollecting up her breath and took a peak around here. Too much work that she hadn't already focused onto time. Damn, Romano and Ciccotelli, two hotheads cops of her own precinct, were already having enough of dealing up with her cases while she focused on missing and horrifying cases and not much of her own and as much as Tess tried to cover up for her ass, Cat could tell she was about to have a fit to it and not only because of her break-up with her recent relationship with Joe, but also trying to fill up the cases that they were supposed to overcome together as a team and as friends. But she couldn't do that. Not now. She needed to make sure and call up J.T. to see if he had anything else new on Vincent, any positive onto him.
Cause if there was no body had come up to her doorstep, or Vincent's hadn't come up. It meant only meant that he was still around and pretty alive. She knows it and feels it from her heart. And wasn't even aware of how exhausted she looked. Couldn't even look up, even once to arrange her face, at all. Didn't had much time even to think about it. She dialed up the number and put the phone onto her ear while she heard the ring sound over and over as she waited patientely and being frustrated, both at the same time. An male voice in the other line answered back and he sounded like he could take a nap. Or maybe it sounded like he had been dragged out of sleep, because of her brutal calling.
"Forbes?"
"J.T.?" She asked back as she stood up from her chair walked up to the kitchen and took out the coffee pot as she re-poured herself another refill of cafeine. How many was it already? Four, or maybe five?
"Oy, Cat! How is it going at...5am?" What? It was five, already? Was she bothered him out by now? When he was supposed to be looking on his friend, by now?
And even, if she called up and pretty early.
"Just checking if you have any leads on Vincent. You had found anything?" And she could hear J.T. wincing back up at the other line when he tried to find any better answer to say in order to get away, or seemed to be that way.
"You mean since you've asked eight hours ago?"
"It wasn't eight hours ago, it was.." She looked back down to her watch and frowned back at the tiniest sight that made her want to curse. Damn. She really hadn't much slept but she did for couple hours ago when she was between work and talking up with J.T. until she fell alsleep here."Nine." Crap.
"Cat, this has almost gone up for almost three months by now. Maybe you might have..I don't know take a break, maybe.."
"Anyway. Anything?" Cat tried to stay patient even if it meant for her to cut up her one of her legs as J.T. had put her on speaker as he traveled around the computers. A little secret present from Gabe. After he had been resurrected by Catherine who had managed to get restart up his heart after being shot up from five to six times, he had offered them up his help to help them on finding Vincent and after three months later, nothing good had camed up, but she still wasn't ready to give up.
"Like I said nothing new on social media or whatever. Or any facial recognitions and nothing had to do with Vincent, but so far. Nada."
"Vincent is somewhere, out there. I know it. I can feel it.." Cat had resumed back when she sat back down onto her chair with her coffee mug. Something inside of her heart believed that Vincent wasn't dead. Or else, she would have had felt it from the start."Murfield could have had easily killed him, but they didn't. Which makes us and the only people who would know what else they could have done to him. They've captured him because they needed him for something. We can't still give up until we see it from ourselves. I refuse to believe that he's dead. Don't you?"
"What the hell, Cat? No, I don't believe it either! What makes you think that I've have had tried to protect him for ten years? Even keeping him safe for this long? I owe him.."
"But I love him.." It was different and somehow she still believed that he was gonna show up, one day or another."And I don't care if it doesn't make any sense to you or to anybody else. But, I'm not gonna stop until I find him.." She couldn't give up. Over my dead body even. Dead body, right. These three months had been nothing but hard for her when she and J.T. had keeping each others's tracks while they've been working on trying to find Vincent. She was totally failing at her job ever since and with Tess, having to deal with all the craziness at the precinct ever since Joe's departure and with Tess trying to stay realistic on that finding a missing person after forty eight hours and chances, were pretty low than high. As she lived on coffee and alcohol, and also on researshing on Vincent, Cat was exhausted and much enough to be crazy enough to blow up at J.T.'s reasoning even when the guy was slowly giving up on finding his best friend when he had been the one who had been triying to keep Vincent safe long enough, before she stepped in. Into their lives.
If there was someobody who should be lashing its anger out, it should be J.T. He was the one who had to deal with by being Vincent's best friend, and somehow he stood quiet at her anger reply. As if he had a secret he couldn't tell to anybody or even to Cat.
"I'm sorry.." She admitted back by running her fingers through her bangs. Damn. She didn't felt so exhausted like this before. So weary and being deprieved of any sleep here. It never had happened before. No wonder, she fell alsleep for who knows how long? Probably right while I've worked on a case, or one of them she thought back as she rubbed her eyes trying to clear out the fatigue away and took a look around the kitchen. Just look at the coffee table, it looked like a mess with files all over and the unfinished ceasar salad and along up with her computer here. Crap, she fell alsleep onto her computer? She shook up her head as it seemed like it weighted a lot onto her neck.
"No. No, it's okay. I get it." J.T. sighed up onto the line by coming up with a better answer as he had her awakened with his annoyed voice. But she could tell that he was tired, of not wanting to be the first person to tell her the bad news, like giving up here. Like giving up on Vincent."It's just. I'll be honest, okay? I'm not only worried about him, I'm worried about you too. What I mean to say is that you don't only have Vincent under your shoulders, you're dealing with all the craziness at the precinct. And your dad's passing away. I mean it's like what? It's been what? Almost a month after the funeral?" And yet, no wonder if everybody looked worried about her here and J.T. was one of them who had noticed coming. Three months right after July, when her father, and the only parent left she ever had cherished and loved since for long she could remember. The only man that would always warm up her heart when her mother had been elsewhere and defend hers and Heather's honor, had slowly passed away in his sleep, back at the hospital. And mostly, because of his injuries from the car accident which wasn't quite an accident. No, it wasn't. Someone had pushed him out ofthe crowd as he desparetely wanted her to meet and to talk about something important. And according Tess's ressources, Thomas's tablet had an hidden message along with a picture to it. A certain man, coming up from the Federal Bureau Investigation, Special Agent Robert Reynolds, and something had told her that it was fishy. What made Agent Reynolds belong into this confused mess? Did he had anything to do with Thomas's meeting back at that day? What did he tried to tell her, anyways?
"Look, just don't worry about me, okay?" Cat tried to assure him back as much when her voice had almost broke. She cleared up her throat."But, just don't stop on looking about Vincent, okay? Please.." She hung up back and went back up to the missing cases she had been working with before she fell alsleep, and better not fall up again, into a second time. Even if it meant for one hour only. And even if she had to deprive herself up from any sleep.
"I'm so in love with you.." Oh God. Vincent's voice still hauntened her, even after he confessed his feelings for her and after when he'd been caught up kidnapped under her sight. She needed to get him back and as long she refused to believe that he's dead, there was still hope out there in the air, through.
Even if it meant to face the precinct in a few couple hours later on. Damn. Just to think of it made her heartbeat accelerate faster.
...
What a mess. If it meant that she wasn't doing such a good job, others cops at the precinct were rushing up and fast but couldn't have done better. After a quick shower, dried up her hair and combed it, and with new clothes to wear up with a simple white long shirt, dark jacket and a new pair of dark pants, Cat walked in with an irritated Tess who gave her up the latest updates lately and with the mess that Joe had provoked much even.
Not to mention the glares that two fellow and hotheaded male cops, one red haired and the other with dark hair, had been giving to her once she and stepped into the office. And she could tell that they were pissed as they sat back down onto their seats.
"Don't mind Romano and Ciccotelli, they'll get over it as I have been trying to cover you up when you went into AWOL and with all the mess that had occurred back up since Joe's departure and with the DA dealing with them, through.."
"No, you've should and I'm sorry.." Cat appolegized as she Tess walked onto upwards to their desks as much irritated Tess seemed to be when she turned around and held up her hands onto the back of her chair with a frown. Okay. Another lecture to endure she told herself back when she took up a file and turned up oppen when she heard her best friend's voice tone. Irritated as it was.
"No, it's not that. It's just.." Tess groaned back with a sigh when she admitted back up."Look, I know how much you love the guy, but as your best friend, but I think I do have the right to know how much longer is it going to last and with you on finding you know who-"
"Until I find him, Tess. You know that part.." Cat made it clear, once again. Unless Tess was seeing three heads coming out of her. She'll just have to get used to it.
"But what if you can't?" What if she couldn't? Yup, another lecture on the way. What was it with anybody today? The female cop just dropped flat onto her desk and walked away much as she could hear Tess appolegizing up in defeat when she just was trying to be a friend here. And maybe give her some very good and realistic point here.
"Look, I'm sorry. It's not like it's been easy on me either. Cat! Just listen to me-"
"I'm listening. Go ahead and it's one of your perks anyways.." She took carton cup and took out the coffee pot as she poured another coffee drink once again. Might be the sixth, by now. Oh God..
"I didn't meant that way, okay? I don't wanna to sound up like the bad pigeon here, but you do know that the odds after trying to find a missing person longer than forty eight hours, it's chances-"
"Now, you're sounding like J.T. Are you guys ganging up on me?" Cat put up the coffee pot back up to its place and walked away to her desk."I'm not giving up until I find Vincent, Tess.."
"That's funny. Because that's what Joe used to say before he got fired. On trying to find his brother's killer; I'm not giving up. Do you remember that part?" Cat did remember that period and not only because of that, but it almost did costed up her friendship with Tess and especially when she was taking sides with the law and not with her friend who tried to prove Vincent's innocent that he had nothing to do with Darius's murder. Even if it meant that it was self defense when Heather's life was threatened once.
"That was the only thing he cared about, Cat. Unlike the others he cases he was supposed to take care of. Which had cost him this mess. His job and me by being my boyfriend.." Tess pointed up a finger to her broken did looked pretty upset from the moment after Joe had left as she had tried to cover up Cat's ass for the meantime. And when she tried to focus her frustration on getting Vincent back alive, Tess wasn't allowed to move on after Joe walked away and had to deal with others cops's remarks about her sleeping up with the recent captain which made her blood boil up with anger. Thinking that she might be a slut to their view was enough to provoke her, not only as a cop but as a woman.
"Pretty good sex, you two were having behind Joe's wife's back, uh? Vargas?" That tall and dark red short haired man, Detective Nick Romano from the orginazed crime division had smirked back up to her anger.
"Shut up! Romano.."
"Well, at least you and your partner were having fun while Dante and I were taking all your junk when you and Cat were on vacation." Vacation? Nick should have known better since he worked up on solving orginzing crime which took more longer to solve than of a simple homicide. Missing cases were almost as hard as they were when a dead mob guy ended up dead, for revenge or ransom.
"We weren't on vacation, we were working up here! Missing persons cases, remember?" Cat said enraged back up by revealing most of her truth saying. Damn. Couldn't even believed that once she used to hang out with them as buddies and now they were making fun of her. Just because they had much of work to deal with. Well, most of them were hers and along of their usual ones they had've had to deal with. Double shift. That's why they were making fun of her.
"Yeah, right! Even my five year old boy would have resolved it, better than you could have ever done, Chandler.." The dark shortcut haired and strong guy, Detective Dante Ciccotelli, from the homicide squad had groaned and replied back with shrug as he kept his attention to his computer while Cat wanted to throw up her hot coffee cup onto the back of his head. She looked pissed off. Yup, try to stay all day and night for almost three months on catching a missing beast boyfriend, and we'll talk. Just what the heck were they thinking they were?
"Why, you-"
"Cut it out, Cat! Don't listen to them.." Tess stepped back onto the front with her hand being held up to her face as she turned her head back to the boys by giving a warning glare and looked back to her partner."Just make sure you know what's costing you, Cat..Okay?" and her expression had softened up a bit when Cat's anger expression turned out into denial for a second as if she had been caught into a lie.
"Make sure, it's worth it.."Tess had added up as much as she wanted to reveal when her friend looked exhausted ever since three months onto looking up for her missing boyfriend, without even giving up or even knowing the fact if he was still alive or dead. And yet, Cat refused and still refused to believe onto that fact. She would have known if Vincent had been dead for long and from deep down through her heart, but she had known that it wasn't true or else she'd be lying to herself.
"I do know what's costing me, Tess. Believe me."Cat resolved back once she calmed down from her recent and incridible rage towards another cop. "Sometimes, when I'm alone and it's late and it's quiet. I just..I just want to cry." She added up back more like a whisper quote from keeping others from hearing her loud enough as Tess nodded back.
"For Vincent, for my dad, but I can't. I wouldn't let myself fall until I find Vincent. I need and to stay strong, at first." And before she could fall over but she needed to stay strong and especially if the reality had to jump out into her front face.
"It's a dangerous game to put yourself on hold like that. It's gonna catch up with you soon or later." It might be as Cat nodded back, but it was a risk she would gladly take.
"I know.."She admitted back looking wary and tired, but what else could she do about it? A lot of burden had been onto her shoulders since she first stepped in onto a world and the very same one whom her mother had damaged many lives before and to where it first lead her to Vincent's way. And fell for him, hardly.
"Catherine.." Another male voice had stepped into their conversation as he stepped down to them. Gabe. Aka ex-beast now. Well, after she managed to restart up his heart and to bring back up alive in order to save and bring Vincent back. Not only did he tried to prove that he was capable to help both and J.T. but to have redemption and especially when he figured out that his late girlfriend, Tyler had been killed by Murfield, possibly and onto the very same night where he kept Cat and Vincent captve and especially when his rival had been captured by them.
"Speaking about beasts.." Tess cursed under her breath. Even beast or not, he still wasn't trustworthy which had pissed them both and still after three months later.
"Catherine, I need to talk to you. In private.."Gabe followed back up once Tess was seated behind her desk and as he urged her to follow him up to his office. Joe's office as it used to be with Gabe's belongings now. The female cop just sighed by being frustrated and irritated as she followed him from behind his back. Sometimes she even wondered why she brought him back from the dead. Just why, again?
"It's better be good. I don't care if the DA put you in charge, I don't have to listen to you, anyways." Catherine groaned back as she stepped up onto the stairwell along with Gabe who tried to talk, but couldn't since she looked angry. Too much even. That guy could have had sent a note or called her, if he had heard anything on fiding Vincent which he didn't. Too much occupied by dealing up with Joe's unresolved cases. Pretty much. Which it didn't enlighten things up between them and especially what she and Vincent went through, three months ago before he was captured.
"I do know-"
"I haven't been around much lately, but you know what I'm doing. And I don't expect any flak, because if I haven't saved your life, you wouldn't even be here as much as your dead girlfriend must be by now-"
"You know how grateful I am. Not Tyler's, but-" He stepped back into the office and walked back to his desk. Well, just in front of his desk while he listened Cat who had nothing better than to insult him, and especially what he made her go through. Thanks to his evil and dead beast side. And to say that Tyler had been killed after she tried to run away from J.T. made him feel more avanging even and made his goal better even as he decided that he wanted to make things better and make amends with Catherine by finding Vincent and stop Murfield. If there were any more of them left here.
"And honestly, when you couldn't help me find Vincent, which was the only reason I have saved your sorry ass in the first place, I should've left well enough alone when your beast side died. You know what I've meant? No offense." She continued to lash out at his face. Who could have known that she still had the nerve to throw insults by this early morning? Glad she still had the force or else Gabe would have thought she've had given up onto her anger towards him. Meaning, after all. He had been the one who almost had her killed once and nearly had taken Vincent's life away.
"None taken.."But ouch. He almost added back but Cat was too much preoccuppied on doing the most talking up here, that she hadn't realized what he'd been holding back to say.
"And for the record, I've-"
"Catherine, J.T. found Vincent." Gabe had cut her off when he released out that bombshell out in order to make her cut between her words which it did when she struckly stared him back. Good, he gotten her under his focus. Enough about her ego crap talking up here and insulting his own, as he followed up. "He couldn't get in touch with you, so he sent it to me."
"He sent what to you?"
"Take a look up here." Gabe took ahold of his laptop computer and swirled around in order for her to see the latest update he had been sent from J.T. Cat put down her mug as she observed the picture with a good eye. She was so much stupefied to even react here as much when her heart wanted to jump out of her ribcage.
It was Vincent. It was him! The picture looked a bit grey from the scan, but it was him, alright. He had been held by two men. Strong men who pushed him back up much as his recongizable features looked like they were expressing their pain much as if he was holding up a grunt. If Cat could read better, Vincent had been held up there, at Brooklyn Shipyards Pier through the camera. 1:41pm. Just an hour after she walked in the precinct with Tess and had almost wanted to jump and beat up Ciccotelli's ass for making fun of her. But it didn't mattered to her anymore.
The only thing that mattered for her, it was to find Vincent. Before she could lose him again. Or else her heart wouldn't bare it again at such horrendous failure.
...
Very much later and only after she had been known about Gabe's sharing photo, Catherine drove by to the final destination of where Vincent might be held up. If he still was being held up.
Arccording to J.T.'s software, he wasn't completely convinced that it was a real match-up. Meaning, he wasn't sure if this man at the photo looked out to be the same Vincent from three months ago. Something was odd here, but it didn't mattered to Cat. She wasn't gonna let a photo be the first thing to tell her whatever; it wasn't what it seems or thingy anyways. She'd rather see it from herself.
"I can't give up on Vincent. I just can't!" Giving up wasn't an option at all and it didn't belonged to her volcabulary much even. You start with something, you'll finish it up, at the very end of it. It was simple as it was and yet, she couldn't understand how come people close around her had mentioned her to give up on fufill up the impossible. But she couldn't give up without even trying at first. It wasn't her motto either. She would find Vincent and alive. She trusted up her instincts and wasn't willing to back away anytime soon. Or maybe, they were just acting like this because they were worried about her mind state and by looking up for Vincent as if it was life matter which it was for her, scared them all.
"No, I'm alright. I'm alright. I'm alright, I can pull through this..I can do this! Focus Cat, focus!" She frowned back as she clutchered her fingers onto the wheel and swirled up at left and went up to the front of the other car who stood onto her way before. Which had earned her annoyed clocking sound from the other car from behind.
"That moron should have had seen comin, anyways.." She cursed through her breath. "It would make him think twice before transpassing a cop's car away." But as she told herself that note, another went and stood up to her front by surprise. Damn it! Damn it, Manhattan!
And there was nothing good than to go through a nice but wild traffic, as much like it had been everyday. Calm down, Cat! Calm down. She really did tried, but it pissed up her nerves when someone was blocking out her way out of the street.
"Come on! Come on! Out of the way!" She yelped back to the other cars as they went through pass and dialed up her phone reaching up for Tess's number and put onto speaker. "Tess, I'm heading up to Brooklyn Shipyards, Pier 48, I might need some backup. What's your-?" She almost jumped back out of her skin into shock when someone had horned her from behind. "Hey, you moron!-" She lashed out back and followd up through the line."ETA?"
"Cat, is that you?" Oops..Wrong button. It sounded like Heather's concerned voice instead of Tess's. And she could tell that she almost gulped up when she was caught up into a mistake. Oh Oh. Cat froze up for a second.
"Heather?" Oh ho..Damn. How come she didn't recognize her own sister's number here?
"You'd know, I'd like to think you're actually responding to my phone call finally, but seeing as how my name is not Tess.." Cat didn't know what else to explain her mistake at miscalling the wrong person here. But just to appolegize her actions. Definally, she was being the bad sibling here.
"Heather, I'm so sorry.."
"Well, just how of curiosity, when it was the last time you were at home? It's a whole mess here, actually.." Despite Heather's sarcasm, she had known that she would probably have a lot to explain herself later on and especially when she'd been ditching some real time while she was so much focused onto Vincent at first.
"I really don't have time to talk right now. Can I call you back?" She was having too much into her hands right now and let her sister talk through the driving wasn't making a good example to the other drives about to not speak up onto the phone either. Heather just followed up with a tired sigh.
"That's the problem here. You never have any time anymore. Ever since the funeral you've been unreachable to get ahold of and I'm worried about you. Are you on undercover or something?" A little too close to the truth, but since Heather had meet up Vincent before and didn't went up in such good terms, Cat tried to stick to the better version of it as she flashed up the lights.
"Sort of.."Damn another driver playing smart here."Do you not see the flashing lights?" She followed up loudly than she expected to. Oh crap. There she was almost losing her temper over some stupid driver who couldn't control up its speed. First, almost at J.T. Then later at some cop and now at some unknown driver? Oh Boy.
"Cat, listen. I need to make sure that you're gonna be there tonight, cause I cannot do this speech without you.." Heather had followed back in a bursting alerting answer. That Cat thought wasn't aware of but mostly at such evening that she hadn't known. Was there a evening that she should been aware of and hadn't been informed about? It was just new to her ears.
"What speech?"
"I, uh..At the tribute at Dad's law firm is throwing him. They're making him a name partner-" A memorial? She blinked up back through that sentance.
"Hey, hang on! That's tonight? Seriously, Heather?" Cat had objected much as she wanted to slap her own her head that again? When did she missed that point? When did Heather had mentionned it? When she was probably didn't paid any attention cause she had been too busy on finding Vincent and wasn't so much occupying with her grieving. Oh Boy. She was so damn late on things.
"Cat..You've promised you would be there..I know you're busy and all. But it's for Dad. This matters. Brooke also needs some support too and I've promised her you would come and show up. It's been hard for her to lose up him up, it still does. Both of us, too.." Heather had replied back when the elder daughter just sighed up with a sigh much as she made up her mind in a few seconds here. After all, she wasn't Wonderwoman, but tried to be anyways even if it meant to help out Heather for a second. Trying to be the responsible sister for once after being gone away for thee months, mentally and emotionally.
"Don't worry, I'll be there. Okay?" Or more like she would try to show up. And even for the poor widow. Brooke. If it wasn't for Heather, her surprised young sterpmother wouldn't have had made it alone after Thomas's passing. The poor woman. Even if they had started through the wrong way, at first. Cat felt awful and yet, she felt like she made up a friend and after Brooke had married her father even. However, no one else was able to replace Vanessa Wu Chandler later on and Brooke made sure she wasn't taking anyone's place either. And hopefully save hers and her sister's relationship before it all ends up into chaos. All of her friends and including her sister were awfully worried about her.
"Okay. And then maybe we could talk later on, afterwards. Cat. It's about might really need to and clear up on a few things about everything.." Heather seemed to be very nervous about it and just to hear it about and through the phone, Cat felt like even her own bubbly sister had a secret of her own to share and hopefully, she'll have the time to listen to it and after she'll figure out if the photo page was enough to be Vincent first and then later, she and Heather would be able to clearify a few things together. Once all this hellish of matter would disappear and for good. Once she'll get Vincent back into her arms back. She'll comeback into her old self, just like before. Just like it always have been. She was sure of it. Or wasn't she?
Back into a racing heartbeat as Cat focused onto the road.
...
Walking inside of the lone warehouse after she kicked out the guards without a haste, Cat was sure she had heard an enraging roar as much when guns fired off through the place. A beast? Another beast? It couldn't have been real. Vincent was the only one left through his unit as he had escaped once in order to comeback from hell. Other than Vincent used to be, Gabe couldn't rough up a bit even.
No. He couldn't be dead. He just couldn't be. No. Clutchering up to her gun she walked in, with the move of an silent feline panther and walked through voices where she could have heard someone yelling up in a cowardly and far away from the other corner, when she leaned herself back to the wall and with her shoes being caught up drenched up through the water.
"Where is he? Do you see him?" His voice was shaken up with fright as he continued to hide. A man, mostly. Cat shivered through her bones as she waited up for something to happen in silence. Anything. A mouse or a rat to show up. She managed to take a peak from her hidden corner as her eyes looked up and observed. Her breath caught up in chills when she had witnessed what her eyes had never believe to see coming up true.
A body in a suit was being thrown up to the other way where the man had been hidden as he walked back away from his corner spot when he figured out that the man that laid down there had been dead. Dead by whom? Cat looked up to see an petrified asian man, through his early forties with a grey and expensive suit had stepped back in fear from the dead body as another enraging roaring was heard. His dark eyes looked up and stepped back faster than he expected to be. Frightened of the sight of the person who kept on moving. Like an awaiting and silent predator.
And Cat had known why he had done it. In the first place. Something had told her that the only and enraging roar. And the very same one that she had recognized for a very longtime and which she had missed so much. Vincent's undying and powerful roar had even come up to her haunt through her dreams. So much it made her heart burst out with joy much as her eyes burned out with tears. Tears who would gladly fall over with joy once she'll run back to him. She had known he was alive when the people surroundying her had told her otherwise. She hid back her gun into her hostler and turned out from her hidden corner as she called him. Thank God. He's alive!
"Vincent, thank God, I've found you!" Cat watched the new changed man whirl around his head and much to her fright, he looked far too much different than the last she had been with him. Vincent looked different. His hair was way more short more of a buzz haircut, amy style. His scar onto his cheek was gone. He looked buffier and build through his blue leathered jacket and dark shirt. Hard and close up into a machine killing. Even way more broader and wider than he used to be. His transforming beast form looked different way more invisible without the hard darkened veins onto his skin, she couldn't even tell if he looked angry or more of an animal as a human being than of a natural beast. However, his amber eyes looked the same when he was into beast mode.
And boy. Did he looked pissed here when she called him out loud and enough as he snarled back through his nostrils as if she was some uncalling desert he hadn't expected to find up here. He turned back and Cat had realized the man he was trying to have a feast with had vanished away. Angrily, he released out an angered roar and picked the only close up trash he could grab and with an astonshening strength had thrown up to the farthest wall. Cat stopped up her step as she watched him with a different eye here. And something deep down to her gut had told her, it wasn't good. Something was wrong. Instead of rushing up onto his arms, she was frightened and was stepping back as much when he was walking up directly into her direction. Like a predator and hungered for blood and human flesh. Oh God. He was acting up like a beast. No. He was a beast! Something was wrong with Vincent. She couldn't recognize him anymore. He was beyond different and very scary. Close enough to have her for desert. Which he wouldn't have never done from before.
"Vincent.." She called him back in a question but it didn't do much as he dangerously kept walking back onto her way. With his angered features. Beastly angered features toward her direction. She shivered back when fear made her heart accelerate enough as she tried resonate him as she always had done before by helding up a hand to stop him from coming up more close to her. But Vincent ignored her actions by walking up closer and when he raised up a clawed hand up to the air as he was ready to struck her. A single gunshot was heard through thin air.
Or more of an tranqued shot was heard as it had attacked up the new changed Vincent to the back his thigh. Which made him stop as he roared up in disgust when Cat turned her head away and standing up from behind an very pissed up beastly Vincent, were both Gabe and J.T. standing up with a tranq gun. Well. J.T. was holding it up onto his hold. He was a guy who couldn't just let it go of his training gun, at all. Can't really blame him for that for trying to protect himself against a beast.
"Wait, you've followed me up here?" She asked back to the two unexpected guests who rushed up to the rescue and behind her back as if she couldn't take care of Vincent on her own. As if they couldn't trusted her much. She looked pretty offended up here, even if they meant good to come up to her rescue and with Vincent roaring up to express his repugnance as he took out the dart from his thigh.
"You got more darts in that thing?" Gabe had asked back up as he stood behind the brave and shivering shooter, in alert.
"Yeah. But one that's all we need last.." J.T. tried to finish up when Vincent had blurred out from the way and way more faster than he used to be. Which had left the three of them stunned, and mostly for Cat.
"Time."Damn.
"There he is! Shoot him!" Gabe's voice had alert her up when they've watched Vincent rushing up from the right side to them and without any haste.J.T. fired up again onto Vincent's front leg and to which the beast had taken out and ran back away again from their sight. "That's impossible." J.T. was stupefied how much fast Vincent had turned out to be after being missing for three months. Just what the heck, had they done to him? What Murfield had made him turn into?
"Watch out!" Catherine called them out when she had seen Vincent appearing back up by turning his way back to them from the left side. At the sudden alerting sound, Gabe rushed up his movement without asking the professor's permisson and grabbed up the tranq gun and fired up right up to the running beast's leg once again which made Vincent stop and grunted up in pain when he almost fell down to the floor as he held up himself by his hands. Cat ran up to his side and knelt down and next to his side and held him from his back.
"It's okay." She tried to assure him by trying to put him up to his knees. She could hear him pant through his breath."It's okay. It's over now. Hey, look up at me!" She called him back with a waking up slap onto his cheek to make him look up at her." Everything's gonna be fine." She tried to hold him up steady onto his knees as he was slowly transformed back onto his real nature as she gently stroked up his cheek which felt so tender and softer. As if he hadn't carried any scarred mark from before. His scar was gone.
"His scar is gone.." She turned away to look up at J.T. which he and Gabe had joined the heartfelt reunion. She wasn't hallucinating. Vincent's scar was truly gone and the beast didn't take it away. But it was truly him. It didn't mattered if he changed or not, to Cat, Vincent looked the same man she fell in love with. Cat whirled her attention back to Vincent who was close to roll up his eyes as he felt like taking a nice nap wasn't looking up to be so bad. However, Catherine held him tight with a rassuring smile when he struggled to stay awake.
"But what matters is that you're back safe. I had never stopped looking for you." She whispered back to him as he tried to keep his eyes under control and looked up straight up at her, before he revealed something that might change everything for good for both Cat and Gabe and J.T.'s lives.
"Who are you?" Vincent's breathtaking answer had crashed her up into disbelief. He hadn't recognized her. He didn't remembered her. Too much shocked from that sudden question, Vincent lost counsciousness and rolled away from her gentle touch and fell down onto the lake floor. While she stood in shock coming up from this revealation. Oh God. It wasn't that she didn't expected to find him in good piece like three months before and the exact same man. Which she had in mind, hopefully but wasn't expected to happen for real. Like all these three months had meant nothing. But were hard for Catherine to go through when she kept on trying to track Vincent and when her efforts had finally succeded, she hadn't expected to find the very same man she fell for but with another personality and probably the effects he went up and endured his ennemies for a longtime.
And yet, he couldn't remember her, at all. Who are you?
It just crashed up her heartbeat when she heard him say that he did not know her at all.
...
However, it didn't stopped her to watch over him while he slept onto J.T.'s leathered couch. Onto her guard, Cat tried to stay unaware of Gabe's concerns and probably worries when he had almost tried to kill both her and Vincent three months ago. If he thought he could make any amends on trying to earn her trust back after what he had done for selfish reasons to safe himself, he still had a long way to get onto that path. And even if he had tried to help her out to rescue Vincent.
Even if her missing and rescued beast boyfriend couldn't recognize her well.
"Probably, one of Murfield's many unexplained methods.." Gabe had added back after he and J.T. dragged out Vincent's sleeping form onto the Gentleman's Guild and put his body onto the lying couch as they watched him sleep when Cat just watched her boyfriend's chest rise as it was a movement to make her believe that he was still breathing and was still real to her eyes. He was alive but was much different than she expected to be.
"How would you know?" She shrugged back with her eyes that have never left Vincent's sleeping form as he laid onto the couch and groaned as if he was trying to get out of a bad dream.
"I don't.." The A.D.A's assistant just shook up his head back."But it must be one of the possible reasons though, or else they wouldn't have had kept Vincent alive for long. If they did, it was for an unexplicated reason. I'd say for something, they've thought over again and sent off an beast like Vincent to finish up something. It's my guts's saying."
"But other than that, you don't know a freaking thing.."J.T. mumbled something back at his corner. Which Cat had scolded him back.
"J.T.."
"I'm just saying."J.T. justified himself much as an angered Cat pushed Gabe away from the living room and lead him up to the exit. Even if he had been trying to clear himself up from his actions or not, he still needed to do more than he needed to earn her trust and making her go afraid and be against Vincent's new behavior, it just wasn't part of them.
"Please, Catherine. Let me just stay here, at least till he wakes up here. Just to protect you from him."
"I can take of myself, don't worry. I'm not afraid of Vincent."
"It's not what I've meant-"
"I'm pretty sure it's what you've meant. You can save your breath. Gabe.."
"Catherine, I know that I've haven't earned your trust back, but the only way I can make amends to you is to keep trying on helping him to get him safe and helping you-"
"And like I've said here; we don't need your help here.."Cat managed to harshedly finish up before Gabe could explain himself and even he had tried, she wasn't much convinced of his excuses. The last thing she needed to know that he was trying to look at his better self, when as a beast he didn't had, many years ago and wasn't ready to fall for the puppy eyes act ever again. She meant perfectly well by mouthing out loud the very last words that had come out of her mouth. She wasn't quite ready to give the man who had almost killed Vincent a chance and Gabe took as a sign that his needs were no longer needed to the fierce female cop and walked back away when he exited up the room, leaving J.T. and Cat alone with an uncounscious Vincent who lounged onto the couch. But for how long? The female detective had rolled up her eyes and turned around to look up at J.T. who stood up onto his guard with his arms against his chest but did seemed to look like he wanted to get away from two beasts. No. Not two, but one. Even with Gabe being gone and out of the room, he still felt a little uncomfortable about the earlier facts of tracking Vincent and with Gabe who may have the certain idea to expose his friend as a criminal. From what Cat could imagine the worst scenario. None of them here weren't sure to sure to trust the ex-beast killer machine.
"What?"
"Nothing. I-I mean, aren't you a little harsh onto the guy? I mean, Gabe may have been an ass back to the past-"
"And that's why, you've followed me up back at the warehouse and without my permisson? Gabe had told you to track me down?" Cat had folded up her arms against her chest with a perplexed expression onto her face. Since when J.T. was making up excuses for the ennemy? "Are you trying to tell me; that I should thank him for trying to save my ass?"
"It's not what I've meant, come on!" J.T. surrounded himself and pointed up at the man who kept on snoring up onto the couch and the very same one who had wanted to have Catherine for desert, earlier."I mean, look, I don't like the guy anymore than you do, but aren't you a liitle concerned about what Murfield had done to Vincent? I mean, take a look here. Face it, he looks clearly different and a little scarier than usual, you know.."
"Scary? Really, J.T..."Cat had almost wanted to scoff out at the guy right here. Did he really was scared of Vincent after all those years of keeping his friend under protection was growning up to be scared of his friend? "What are you, like six?"
"Come on, it took three darts to stop him if you hadn't known, and he does look much more powerful than he used to be."J.T. had followed back as he ignored her remark. "He didn't even recognize you, Cat. No wonder, my software couldn't trace him up. He looked far too much different than he used to be." The female cop just frowned back at that statement. It was true. Vincent didn't recognized her but deep down of her beeping heart, she still needed to try and make him convince that they were destined. But could she capable of doing it without making herself look creepy to a guy like Vincent who coudn't even be able to recognize his own girlfriend here? Or had known that he even had one, before.
"Okay, where the hell am I?"
Cat was so focused onto her thoughts that she didn't notice up that Vincent was slowly coming back to his senses when he stirred up. He started to move his his head as he grunted with pain but mostly with annoyance. She whirled around to see him move and tried to stand up from the couch. Still groggy from the tranqing darks he had been injected with.
"It's okay. it's okay. Just to take it easy! Oh Boy, I'm so sorry!"She rushed up to his side a little bit faster than she did and somehow smacked his rib by accident as he went back down onto the couch as he shut down his eyes grimacing with a a grunt. Ouch!
"I'm so sorry! It's okay! Everything's gonna be okay now. You're home now." She quickly appolegized and sat down onto the coffee table as she tried to comfort him and not to scare him, hopefully.
"Home?" Vincent asked back with many questions going through his head. About whatever the heck had happened. He didn't looked so certain, anyways. And this place didn't looked like home to him as he brought up two fingers press up at his temple when he felt his head still spinning here.
"Try to relax now. Calm down." Cat tried to assure him back and tried to have his attention to herself. "Vincent. Look up at me.." She tried to stay calm as he finally managed to look up and to stare up at her eyes, tiredly as dark circles were under his eyes. Well, at least, he sure does knows his name for a first start. He knows his own name, had thought Cat back. "Do you remember me, I'm Cat. Catherine?"
"Catherine.." He breathed out her name as the first time he had done for so many times and much for the first time when they've first meet. His confused eyes looked certain that he had meet her before and Cat was sure of it when relief rushed up to her features. He did try to look through hers as he seeked for something she wanted him to get. As he tried to remember, but she looked far too relieved to notice his confusion.
"Yeah.."
"No. I'm sorry.."But the relief didn't lasted long when he shook up his head. As if her name didn't meant or ringed anything to him than she wanted to believe. Much to except. But she was certain and he seemed to be even. However, it didn't stopped her from trying harder if she could.
"Okay. Uh, do you know who he is?" She nodded her head towards J.T. who stood a little behind her, like a petrified kid.
"Your husband?" Vincent had suggested back. The heck? He thought this guy standing behind her was her spouse? Both she and J.T. exchanged an perplexed stare as whatever the new male beast was starting to go nuts, already. That was odd. Too much.
"Look, you guys seem to be very nice people and I think so. True." Vincent tried to talk back up again by cutting out the awkward feeling between them here. And later, he laid his eyes toward Cat with a stupid grinning smille that curved up to his face."And you. You are smokin hot but I think you're confusing me for somebody else, another fella maybe. So, if you excuse me, I'll better get going.."He tried to sit up again, but was once again seated down onto the couch when Cat pushed him back down, which made him release another grimace. Nope, he wasn't definally not ready to go anywhere as long she stays in here, he would have to deal with it.
"It's alright. It's all gonna comeback to you.." Cat urged him as he massaged his forehead and clutchered his eyes shut as he winced through his teeth."Do you remember anything from these three last months, like where were you held and who had taken you?" She was bombed him up with questions."Being captured? Or what had happened to you? Who were you looking for? Hurt you, even?" But after that last question, Cat had seen that Vincent had stopped playing the good guy for a second as she caught him up with stare that looked tense as if she had managed to read down through his mind when he held up his breath under suspense. Like she had hit a very sensitive nerve. Cause it was written all over his face.
"I gotta go." He declared back without any emotion and stood up from the couch with his coat onto his hold, even before Cat could push him back down again. She must had caught a bad nerve to cause him to jump back up and go back into his guarding mood. Cat sat up and followed up from behind.
"Go, where? Vincent!" Cat tried to follow him up when he walked up fast to the door when an brave J.T. took up his courage onto his hold and took out something from his desk and confronted Vincent with it.
"Recognize him, Big Guy? That's us." It was a photo and from what Cat could state it was a photo of J.T. and Vincent taken a couple months or maybe years. Probably even before he had entlisted for the army. But it was these good times where you couldn't probably be able to go back after taking such a drastic move. She looked up at Vincent who seemed to still hold on onto his guard as much when his training eyes looked down to the picture and back to J.T. "Taken over eleven years ago. So, which means that you and I know each other for a longtime." It seemed to work. Cause it somehow calmed Vincent even if he didn't wanted to drop his guard down and especially when he had recognized himself through the photo. He didn't those people who claimed to know him, but if they say that photos are counting than words there fact is true enough to believe in it. Being very careful, he took it to look at it on his own and turned around to meet Cat's concerned stare waiting for him to react. But no words came out and walked away from her as he sat down onto a bar stool as he continued to stare at the photo. It was a small positive sign that Vincent was trying to believe what he needs to see in order for them to gain his trust, but Cat had known that with some time he'll be able to trust them. Her, hopefully and maybe he'll be able to confide whatever he went through and only once he'll gain back his memories.
Maybe learning to love her, all over again. Which she truly hoped it'll happen if he could fully trust and love her, like he did back then. But with what had happened to Vincent over those months of being missing, lately. Catherine had known that it wasn't gonna be easy. Murfield must had done something to him while they had him captured. They sure had done it. Silence had been broke up when she jumped back as her phone vibrated back onto her pants. She grabbed it back and took a quick check to look up at her textos and noticed that her own sister had left out a single and annoyed text.
"You're late!"
She grimaced back at the note. The tribute. Crap. She had completely forgotten about attending her father's tribute. Not only she had said that she was gonna be there in time, but had once again had forgotten about it. As she would normally do ever since her mind had been so focused on trying to find Vincent alive again.
"Damn. I completely lost track. I promised Heather I would attend my dad's tribute and I'm not making it any better by being late."
"It's okay. You should go, I'll watch over him. Give yourself a little break." J.T. had suggested back through a whisper as if the guy sitting over the bar wasn't paying any attention. Which he might be. And Cat didn't looked any certain of it and especially with her leaving Vincent all over again when she had finally found him by now. But differently, temporately she hoped back.
"You're kidding? I can't just leave Vincent alone and especialy after we have finally found him. I really can't."
"I got it. Don't worry." J.T. looked confident even if he didn't looked to be. Cat nodded back as she looked back and forth to J.T. and to Vincent. She was worried onto leaving him after finding him back.
"Okay. But whatever happens, don't let him leave.." It could be tricky..She almost had added it up. She nodded up to Vincent who kept staring up at the photo, by being intense and followed back."Promise.." It sounded cheesy, but what else could she tell to convince herself than to be confident on J.T. onto leaving Vincent under his care? It wasn't as if she didn't trusted him. Or wasn't it? Don't be stupid, Cat!
"Don't worry. I'm not gonna let him leave.."J.T. had chuckled back as he could take care of anything even if he felt like he was to crack up into his pants, here. Cat nodded back, still looking uncertain and turned back away but until she reached up to the exit door, she felt an surprising but harshing up pain through her chest that caught her off of guard. She gasped out in a shaking breath and blinked out by holding her hand onto her chest while she held herself onto the doorway. And felt her heart beating up more than usual. Out of control and way more scarier than she presumed.
"Damn. Cat!" J.T. was the first to act and to jump up into worry when he heard her gasp throughout the room.
Oh God. Her chest was burning up and it was the most awful pain she ever had to experience other than being shot before. It felt like someone wanted to snatch her heart out of her ribcage. Calm down! Cat. It was your fault, by the way. You shouldn't have had drink more coffee! She should have tried to nurish herself more than she should have had with real nutriments and with some real sleep, but with what had happened before with Vincent being missing, she didn't had the time to take care of herself. No wonder why everyone had been worried about her. They felt she was about about to lose control, like having a heart attack here. Oh God. No. Not a heart attack. At only thirty year's old? An perfectly, young and healthy woman like her shouldn't even have heart issues. Cardiathic matter not emotional heartful feelings.
"Hey, you okay, here?" Cat whirled her head back to that familiar voice as she took a deep sigh and looked back over her shoulder. There he was looking over her like he always used to. It was Vincent's voice this time who had seemed to show some worry and the very same one who had always managed to show up his concerns and his features weren't faking it about it. He stood up from his seat and looked up concerned about this stranger who seemed to know so much about him than he should have. Almost too familiar, even if he couldn't remember it now.
"I'm okay, don't worry. I'll be back, and once after my father's tribute would be over.. " And with a rassuring smile to show him up that she was taking care of everything as she always have had. She turned back to the exit and left the door with Vincent who was intensly watching her leave with concern.
With a deadly crushing heartbeat and Cat could have heard Vincent's own heart skipping up a bit as his eyes were begging her to not leave him.
...
Nope. She couldn't have had expected J.T. to break his ord on keeping a eye onto his friend. He wasn't the kind of guy who would give up easily but wasn't expected to have had his friend tranqued him out of cold when Vincent had told him he needed to leave, after a call was being made and called him "Condor." According to J.T.'s telling. And Catherine who had come all over to her father's tribute with an expensice and exquisite short and simple dress and with such five inch black heels needed to leave after when an drownsy J.T. called her for help.
Everything went perfectly fine as Heather had greeted her with relief and give her such a big hug as she called her sister was so pretty. When the elder daughter just specify that she wanted to dress up good for her dad. Even if she wanted to be somewhere else like staying with Vincent and taking care of him and that somehow her chest had burned up with pain. It was strange, unless it was just stress. It could be it. With everything that had occured through the last three months and maybe from the last eleven years ago, ever since her mother had been killed right in front of her eyes. Cat resisted the urge to rub off her chest when Heather answered back that the little talk they had on the phone would need to wait up a bit, but after their dad's tribute. Which she had completely understood. Cause tonight it was all about her father's honor, that's what it counted, at first. An grieving Brooke all dressed up in black had been there as well and like Heather had mentionned back, sghe did needed a little support from her absent step-daughter and the very same one who had made her life a little tricky after going through a little backing up and checking up through her background life. However, everything had turned around when Catherine had gave her blessing at the end of it.
"Thank you for coming, Cat.." Brooke had mentionned back as she pulled the female detective closer for a hug trying to hold on onto her tears."I'm sorry for dragging you away from work. I heard from Heather that you were pretty busy, lately."
"I know, but I finally had taking the chance to step away for a second to come up here." Cat pulled back and looked back to the blond haired grieving woman."I know you must miss him everyday."
"Just like you do, Cat. I know you must do.."Brooke tried to reply without falling down onto tears. "One morning, he was there with me and then later, back at the hospital after he got himself caught with a racing car driver. Such a awfull accident.."
"I know." Cat tried to look supportive over Brooke's loss. Even if she did wanted to lash out her anger all out and right in front of those people here. Thomas Chandler's accident was no accident. Someone had pushed out to his death and wanted his elder daughter to see it happening it. Someone wanted him to shut him up in silence. But who? However, after she patted up the blond haired woman's shoulder and wished her good luck after Brooke told her she planned to move away from town in order to clear her mind and help her to pass through the grief. It was sad to hear that Brooke wanted to move away, but if it meant that she needed to focus on getting better as Thomas would have wanted her to be, it would better to everybody.
"I'll have to tell Heather as well. I really feel so bad for leaving-"
"Don't be. If you really need to take some time away from here, in order to heal if you really can. Heather would totally understand and she has known how much you loved our dad so much. I do believe it as well.."
"Thank you, Cat."
"And I'm sorry, if I've been such a bitch back then when you only tried to prove yourself before when you said you truly loved our dad. Cause I know you really had meant it.." It was hard to say goodbye and to which she really had hated them, but Cat needed Brooke to believe that she wasn't holding on onto any grudges at all. Blinking up through her tears, Brooke nodded back and promised she would stay in touch and not only as a stepmother, but as a friend.
But meeting up with Special Agent FBI, Robert Reynolds felt weird and to Cat, it felt like he had been a stranger which was destined for her to meet and from the way they shook hands it felt like she had known him but from where? He looked like a man who had always kept his eye through the front and through the back. Cause even if he tried to impress her by wearing up his best blue suit and black tie as he had introduced himself to her onto the rooftop. He looked strange. Sure, he was an handsome man with his aging look and icy blue eyes. He looked strange and had this stare that told her that he had known her from many years. It was creepy just to think of it but that was the way she had thought about it and for sure. This meeting had left her, completely uncomfortable. And thankfully, for J.T.'s call which had made her rush her away from speaking out through the crowd and even if she wanted to help out her little sister, a part of her felt completely relieved when he called out and saying that Vincent had vanished. With a quickie appology to her sister, Cat fleed away in the middle of the ceremony.
Couple hours later after she had fully changed her dress to her own casual clothes, Cat had been trying to follow an very steady Vincent who kept making larging and quick steps through the crowd and osberving up the situation as any trained soldier would have but more as an trained assassin would usually do. And way faster through the crowd as Cat was trying to follow him and with J.T. had stated not only his beast senses went different, but his scent of smell and his beast hearing detected people in a way earlier sense that she couldn't be able to detect an natural criminal. Vincent was simply unstoppable. Too strong to get pass at. That he almost had gotten her close to his path and from the way her heart was beating up fast when he stopped his tracks and turned around to see who else had tried to distract him when she hid herself behind a wall. Feeling her blood rushing up through her veins, but with fear.
Oh God. Don't let him walk over and detect where she had taken place to hide. And what was worse, it was her own heart racing up through her ribcage that would make him try even harder to find her. Catherine held her breath for a moment that lasted like forever until she slowly moved away from her hidden corner and took a peek and figured out that Vincent turned his back on her and continued his destination, as if he had never been disturbed.
As if her racing heartbeat hadn't disturbed him, which it had for real or else he wouldn't have had bothered to look back. Deep down, he kinda had wanted for her to show up and stop him from doing the inevitable, but it was from Cat's own thinking. Even before, she was about to follow up the male beast through the crowd, her phone had vibrated up through her jeans's pocket and took it up without even taking the time to check the identification, speculating that J.T. had recalled her back, which she was wrong.
"J.T., I'm sorry if I had hung up before. Vincent had slipperedly went away again-"
"It's Gabe. Catherine.." Gabe had replied back which made her groan. How much time this man was gonna take in order to leave her alone? And go away after the chaos he made her go through, even after he had been resurrected? She walked back through the crowd.
"Sorry, I'll have to hang up by now..I need to follow Vincent-"
"And you probably need to, before he takes the chance to attack again. Or else, more blood wouldn't be easy to take away from his hands.." He had cut her off again as she shut for a minute when Gabe gave her a warning about Vincent. Which it didn't sounded too good.
"What do you mean?"
"Catherine, you gonna have to stop him before he commits the unrepearable again. This time, Vincent is going after the man who made him a beast a few years ago and I don't include your mother but a certain man who made and created Murfield from the very first start. Li Zhao." Gabe explained.
"It must be the reason why he hadn't said a word about who he went after we had track him down.." It made sense. If Vincent was on a mission, it must have been because of another enemy. Coming from the only place that made him a monster.
"What I'm saying is that you need to stop Vincent from ever trying to kill him and if I'm right, Zhao is the one who had fleed from the warehouse from the camera's captures and stated that it was a perfectly a good match through the police's station. It was him, Cat. I had recognized him. He must have had fleed away after he had realized that not only he had Vincent captured on that boat, but had no idea that Vincent had to get him killed. Until we both shown up and stop him, but we don't know for sure how we may be able to do it this time, again." The A.D.A had gave her a warning that sent her shivers through her spine as if Gabe was ready or maybe losing his mind on calling Vincent a monster. Which she didn't wanted to accept anytime soon.
"Don't worry about that. Just leave it to me. I'll stop him before he kills Zhao.." She hung up back and continued to walk through the crowd. And hopefully she'll be able to stop Vincent from killing the last man who made and created beasts. Zhao would get himself cuffed and brought up to the police and everything about making beasts would be soon over. Or wouldn't they?
Only Cat would hope. And as how her own heart was scaredly racing up onto an irregular motion it only meant one bad thing. If Vincent was capable to kill two men back from the warehouse, he would certainly be able to commit the unrepearable and without even thinking twice of his actions.
Which Cat would definally do without any haste as her irregular heartbeat had been convinced to do it.
...
"Vincent, where are you?" Oh Damn, she couldn't breathe inside of that lab. There was too much smoking through the air that Cat felt like she was about suffocate. Her lungs were burning as she tried to hold back her breath through the hauntening smell which had become too much to bare and to hold. And yet, she wasn't willing to give up onto Vincent. No. She just wasn't about to let him go again without even trying to defend herself from stopping him and bring him back onto the right path.
It was Gabe's warning up call that had shaken her up into distraught. If whatever he had told her was the absolute truth about Vincent tracking up the very first person who made him a beast than it explained anything. Like how he kept hidden the reason of his tracking over Zhao when she had first found and had gotten home, not only because she had gotten onto his way but he couldn't tell her anything because he did not know her. Cause he didn't trusted her and for him to reveal anything. And from the way he had been acting, he was very different from the very last time she had seen him, and scarier even as J.T. warned her before.
Vincent was way scarier than he used to be. Way more beastly and less human, but it didn't stopped her to believe that from the way he had looked up at her with concern before she had left the club, that it was anything but human. Which it was. Her heartbeat made a irregular sound which he was able to track and to hear through his speeding senses. He was still there. The old Vincent she had known and somewhere deep down where he had been locked up inside of his beast nature.
He wasn't completely gone.
Oh Crap. She shut down her eyes as she tried to hold back her breath where the siren sound was being heard. Hopefully if someone would send any help. She desesparetely needed oxygen or else she was gonna die with that suffocating air and all alone here, Cat was coughing up through the place as she bent down onto her knees helding up with the rails for support. Her lungs were burning horribly as her heart was racing up and felt the need to fall alsleep here, for a second.
No. Don't give up, Cat! Don't give up. But everything felt so hard to stay awake and especially when she felt like losing up her breath. But she needed to know where Vincent was and where he'd been trying to track down Zhao and hopefully, if he hadn't killed him first. Please, try stay awake, don't give up, Cat. Don't give up..
"Vincent.." And out of nowhere, an terrifying roar was heard through the place. Wasn't she hallucinating through the smoke or wasn't making her more desparate? Did Vincent had heard her prayer? Or did he managed to finish off Zhao? An second roaring was heard and close enough to be through her front which made Cat realize something. She fluttered her eyes open and stared back an powerful Vincent all being transformed with hard veins through his deformed face when he stared down at her, looking awfully powerfully, fearless but scary and provoking as his amber eyes glowered back through back through the smoke. They stared back at her with concern through his fearless and crueless stare as he snarled through the smoking air as much as his chest was slowly rising up here. He, either couldn't take any of the air. And especially when the smoke had slowly started to touch up the gasoline and chloroline boxes here. Explosives! They were gonna die here!
Oh God. No! Everything was gonna explode in here if they couldn't get away this time and together! As if he was able to read her own thinking, Vincent bent down onto her height and lifted her up into his arms, still into beast mode and rushed out as he pushed himself out from the window as it shattered through the explosion when he jumped down onto the second rooftop from the hotel. He dropped her down onto her feet and looked up to see the fire explosion that was still firedly up onto the sky pretty much like fireworks's work would have done.
Thank God. They overcame it out and alive. Still coughing the rest of the smoking out, Catherine tried to reclaim out her breathing and felt way more better, expecially when the very first man who she still belived had changed very much, but had known better which decision and which person he decided to safe. He had put her in front of his mission which meant there was still hope for her to believe that he was the same guy, she had meet. The very same one with the heart of gold. Sensing that he was being observed, Vincent turned back as the beast slowly started to leave its mark when he noticed her staring at him. Smiling even as if he had done something he hadn't expected her to make her smile. Happy even.
"What?"
"This is how we've meet. You saving me.." She admitted back by looking up through his farrowing brown orbs who were still filled up with confusion."Whenever you remember or not. We're meant to be." She assured him back as her heart was now beating up in a much better mood. And somehow, Vincent did looked a little relieved by her answer when his normal chocolate eyes glowed with appreciation and fascination.
...
But not all things ended up happily for a lasting matter. After she had gotten a quick check up at the hospital, to clear up her lungs's function and that everything looked fine. Well for the most important matter. Catherine drove back home and along with a silent Vincent through all the way till they both reached up at her place.
And since Vincent couldn't likedly expose himself to strangers as much to hospital residents, he had decided to wait up, outside while she had gone and had done her quickie check up after the smoking gasoline incident when he had tried to track down an cowardly Li Zhao and to which he had gone away when his attention whirled back to an pleading female cop who kept calling him up as she was about to die out there and needed to be saved, or else they would have better be off dead if he hadn't. What a waste. Waste that he couldn't get close up to Zhao, but he didn't regretted saving this woman and Catherine was sure of that. Vincent was still the good man behind the beast and was willing to do go like saving people lives like he had done for hers.
Later on that night, she walked back onto the living room with a very small aid kit and noticed that he looked farther to the opened window. Like he was lost in a way through the freshing air of the balcony where stood the refreshing air coming from the night. Such a beautiful night and with him standing up onto his ground, strong and fierce, looking much like a guard. More of an natural soldier. The moon just reflected how his tanned skin and his strong veins and muscles that looked out magnificent and breathtaking. Despite that small scratch onto his neck from the explosion. Small but couldn't heal on its own like he used to.
"Why don't you sit down?" She wondered back by mentionning to take a break from watching through the dark sky. The very last thing that could happen now to both of them is to be observed from the front and curious neighbours. And to know the fact that there might be an very dangerous man living with a female cop, it would smell corruption and awfully wrong here.
"It's fine. I'm okay, from where I am..."Still from his corner, Vincent had denied her offer by standing up confident onto his watchfulling guard way while deep down he did seemed to be nervous at her. He looked uncomfortable to be with a stranger like her. A woman who pretended to know him when he couldn't. It scared him to trust her but he had known that she wasn't lying to him either way. She looked too truthfull as much when her heartbeat told him the truth.
"Sit." However Catherine wasn't having any of it when she pointed him the messy couch so he could sit onto it and without asking any questions to it. And she wasn't about to say "Please." either. Through her eyes, Vincent moved further to the couch, feeling uncomfortable, he seated down onto the couch and dropped his jacket right next to his side. Cat also took a seat onto the coffee table and took off the antisepectic tube cork pushed the pressure out and with a clean paper towel she was about to clean up the cut, until she had heard him speak out which had almost startled her up.
"Your heart." Vincent's deep voice had spoken up as she broughted up her attention to him, suprised when he remained quiet and calm as his hardened and trained features were watching her with attention.
"What about my heart?" She put an assuring smile when she brought up the paper towel and started to pat and clean up his small cut injury onto his neck while Vincent kept his expression intact when his words were sounded sloppy in a way. Almost nervous.
"It sounded strange. Back at that other place, I mean when you tried to leave. You had stopped and clutchered up at the doorway in pain." He admitted back with his eyes that had never left her gaze."I could hear your heart bursting and ready to be thrown out." He looked like he almost wanted to add up the word 'worried' through with his his reply. But he stood looking up onto his guard like a soldier and suspicious of her and to every move and declaration she had and would make.
"True. It did hurt like hell but I'm okay now. I am." She patted up his small cut slowly and gently trying to not make him grimace or anything. Her nose wrinkled as she smiled back when she remembered that incident and tryied so hard to let her get into worry. "It'll teach me a lesson to drink more than three cup of coffees a day and I'm not getting any younger either way." She nervously chuckled back at her own mistake earlier. Damn, it did hurted like a bitch. She have been more careful and thankfully she hadn't mention it to Heather or to Tess. Or else they would have had her strapped up at home and without even be able to go out for work which she had often used to get run away from pain and used it for an excuse matter to be close up on finding Vincent.
But it did scared her to have had experienced an harshing up waking up call when she felt like her heart wanted to explode as if she was about to have a stroke, at only thirty-one year old. Too young to even have a stroke, Cat. But she was relieved that even Vincent, at his worst point had managed to show up his worrying concerns even if he couldn't possibly remember her. But somehow, both the eyes and the heart had known better than the body language had known. Even if he didn't looked like he wanted to trust her, however his eyes were telling otherwise.
"Look, I just wanted to say that I'm sorry.." Vincent had cleared up when the two of them remained into an uncomfortable silence. Well, mostly him. Her heartbeat must have drove him nuts that he felt like he needed to break it out. Cat just shrugged her shoulders into wonder when she took out the paper towel away from his neck.
"About what?"
"For everything. For not being able to remember any of this and not remembering you." He looked ashamed as he hadn't been able to respond back to her feelings. However, memories often took time to gain them back, Cat wasn't worried about it. She had known that Vincent would probably remember her. One day or another. Even if it would take time.
"It's okay. I know you will and for the meantime, it'll be good way to get to know each other all over again." Cat wasn't worried about it. She needed to stay onto the positive side of this mess. Cause s long there's hope, things would get better even if they had to walk up through pines and pricky roses."Even to fall in love with each other, too." That made him scoff as he played along with her answer. As if she had known better.
"What makes you think we still can?"
"It's simple. I do believe it can become true either way. We're meant to be, but you don't remembering it yet." Cat had informed him back when his eyes never blink or left hers for once.
"You really believe that. Don't you?" He wasn't certain, but something told him otherwise. His eyes glowed back at this point when she nodded in agreement. He just wanted to know if she was about to play tricks on him. And needed to stay onto his guard before he could drop it off when she nodded back.
"I do and I know you do, too." However, he didn't looked too certain. Despite her enthusiasm as he looked away for a second and exchanged back his gaze towards her as if she felt his uncertainity."You do believe about us? You can tell that I'm right?" Cat looked back concerned when he followed up her gaze. She felt him tense as if he had something he really wanted to say, but couldn't. He held back something and which it made her question his mind. He looked certain but also much confused as if he was torn on choosing two sides.
"Yes." Vincent had followed back up with a nod. But he looked like he wanted to something else as if whatever was gonna come out of his mouth would sound disappointing to her own ears."But, I.."
"But what?" She replied back as he groaned when his eyes dropped down onto the ground when he tried to avoid her worried stare."Vincent, what aren't you telling me? You can tell me everything you want. Like we've always told each other about everything!"
"It's not that easy.." He slippered out feeling uncomfortable about everything.
"It is! You were the one who've told me to not have any secrets between us. I mean, you can trust me, like we've always trusted each other before. We've always had!" Or didn't they? Cat was trying to convince herself. Even if they've told and trusted each other, but she didn't know all about him from his own lost past other than the fact he had been an resident from a hospital and had been engaged to an certain red haired and naive but kind nurse, Alex before she went away for her safety and away from Murfield a couple months ago. However, Vincent refused to reveal anything else until she added up something that she shouldn't have had to make his spine jump up straight.
"Did Zhao had done this to you?" His eyes went up straight to face hers as if the name had brought him bad thoughts or a bad timing point."Was it just about revenge?" If Gabe had been right, it might as well be and essentially when Vincent almost reacted up cowardly by running away again.
"I need to go."He jumped up from her worried stare and from her non-finishing questions. Cat almost hurried back to catch him, but she held herself to the ground."No. Please. Don't go!" She called him back as he turned his face away and stood with his back facing her. She almost begged him to stay and from the way her voice almost broke down as much when her heart was racing up. He could hear her talk as much as threatening tears were burning up from the back of her eyes.
"I just want to help you. Please let me help you." She took a deep sigh before following up and Vincent could sense that she was trying to hold on strong and not let any of her tears falling out. And as much he didn't wanted to say; he didn't liked when a woman strong and fierce like Catherine was about to cry. Not only it would make feel uncomfortable, but bad and guilty of making her cry. He wanted to go back and embrace her, but like a coward, he stood and listened to her plead and frustration when she had accused the people and mostly them who might have had held him captive. If he could remember which he couldn't.
"I hate what they did to you..I hate that they keep hurting you and I don't understand why!" She was frustrated and from the way he couldn't tell her any of his missions or why he kept everything secret, it made her angry and horribly tired of being left away from him in the dark corner alone and away.
"Why can't they.."She tried to finish her line when he turned back to her worried features which were about to fall over and burst into tears. She tried to move up her arms but dropped them down onto her sides in defeat when the words she tried to say, couldn't bring them up the way she wanted."Why can't they just leave you alone?" Or maybe it sounded the way she wanted to tell them out loud but desparate. Why couldn't the bad people leave him alone? He, himself didn't know the answer coming to that, but he had known that he couldn't answer anything else cause no matter as he wanted to believe, he couldn't trust her because he couldn't possibly remember her. It was hard but also very tempting.
However, something deep down of him was whispering to open himself up towards her. Why? Because she wasn't lying, or that she was a cop that could trick him and burst his ass into jail for being an dangerous assassin? He moved back with a few steps towaring her when she observed him.
"I don't know, but I can't answer any other questions. Do you understand?" Vincent couldn't tell anything else as he stood up here and thinking up straight like a soldier even if he felt that this woman right here was just tempting as ever. Cat just shook up her head and probably was thinking how clueless she must have sounded like here. Remember, Cat, Vincent isn't completely himself. You need to get that through your little brain! Even if you had terribly missed him. But somehow, she felt like she did had lost him forever. Her racing heartbeat could tell.
"Yeah. I can..Sorry, I got away-Alright..But it's been a long and most hard three months.."She wipped off the tears away and put up a brave smile to prove that she could handle it. Anything that he had said, even if he had told her that couldn't reveal anything else. Not because he didn't wanted to, but that he couldn't find into her, because he did not know her despite her belief for the two of them getting back together as they always have had before. If any of that was true.
"But all matters is that you're back now. And that whomever is trying to get back at you. At us, would not stand a change against us." She defied back as he nodded in agreement. Wait, he did that?
"Zhao, had gone away.." He clearified.
"I know and we would get him and in the right way, but not tonight. Just not tonight, Vincent." Cat blinked up back her eyes and lifted up her gaze to meet his."Tonight, please don't go.." She said back as much like a desparate whispering. That somehow softened up the hard man's heart here as he slowly leaned down and shut his eyelids as his lips brushed up to hers. Into a softenening kiss that almost made Catherine cry as she held on onto his lips and to taste them as if he was still an possible dream which she was scared to wake up and discover that he was still gone and the very man right gwas just an illusion or a mirage. She closed up her eyes and savoured his kiss as if it was the last they must have until dawn.
"I won't." Vincent whispered back when he pulled back first. Telling her that he was willing to stay as long she needed him to be with her. Even if it meant for only one night. It was sad, but he had known he couldn't make any promises onto telling her where he would go after tonight and to which it broke her heart. Catherine tried to convince herself that he's back for real but had paid a certain price to be this very different and for what reason? She really had no idea, but it worth it to have him close up to herself for only one night. And the fact, he couldn't possibly trust her had hurt her even.
He was total different and mostly even dangerous. But Cat didn't wanted to believe it. He was still the same Vincent she had known. He just needed to believe it into himself and he'd regain back his memories everything would go back to normal. Or wouldn't they? Cat tried to reach over for another kiss when her phone which had been left down onto the table had vibrated as it cut off their intimacy moment which made the strong man hold the urge to roll up his eyes in annoyance when she excused herself to get her phone and had discovered that there was a left message onto her mailbox and that had been sent just a few minutes when she was too busy onto nursing Vincent's small cut. Which had looked like it was Heather's doing lately. Always had been worried for her big sister's choices lately and ever since Cat had taken some unexplained distancing and distancing from her family members and friends when she was much too occupied on getting her missing boyfriend more than she had realized that she was hurting and deceiving others ever since her father's funeral and memorial tribute and used work for a reason. It was mostly true but not the entire truth. Couldn't tell them about beasts's existence or else it'll be exposing Vincent's real nature and secret and not to forget her own life too, and expecially when her late mother had destroyed his life by making him become the monster he had been. Which meant it could be her fault and that somewhere inside of Vincent, he would be blaming her if he had known the truth if he hadn't forgotten.
Cause if he had and figured out the truth about the true link behind their forgotten relationship, it would make him hate her more. And to think that, it only made her feel more awfull and which had her burst out into uncontrolling sobs. Her chest shudderred horribly and faster than she had expected to do it. Cat hardly cried and expecially when she told everyone that she needed to stay strong and face the real facts and that included bringing up Vincent alive or dead right in front of her eyes so that she could believe and feel it. She couldn't even had cried or shown up any tears to her father's memory or being buried at all and her aunts, oncles, her cousins and even Heather had thought she had a such a cold heart back since her traumatic experience with her mother being shot and killed right in front of her as a nineteen year old kid.
And there she was releasing up the pain she'd been holding on for a whole three months. Cat thrown up her phone away and covered up her mouth as she covered up her gasping sounds from coming out, but Vincent had already turned around to look up at her, with concern even if he still remained onto his own guard. But his trained eyes had her that he wasn't ready to leave any other way. Wouldn't leave a woman with a broken heart and especially when she needed a hand from somebody. Help or else she'll might as well collapse into desapair. And without, even being able to talk because of her shaken breathing Cat turned around and walked ahead and clung herself up into his arms as he had embraced her back with comfort. She didn't needed him to say anything but just to have him here and with her, it was just enough. She lost enough already, but to go through losing him again a second time. It would completely devastate or more like destroy her. Wouldn't even bare it to live it.
"I lost so much." She admitted back between her hiccups coming up from her shaken breath from her tears."I can't lose you again, too.." She held him tight and with her head leaning onto his hard and sculputered chest, she heard his heartbeat racing up a bit. Calming feeling when she closed up her eyes as the tears continued to fall down.
"You won't." His voice remained calm when he rubbed up her back with comfort while his other hand held the back of her head.
"Please don't leave me again. I'm so sorry for letting them taking you away." And sorry for running his shirt with her tears and else stuff that she woudn't want to name of.
"It's okay. It wasn't your fault." It sounded like he went off on trying to comfort her but it didn't much helped her while she kept on crying and begging when he'll could try and slip off away, once she'll calm down and renew her senses back into control, but she wasn't much ready to go back under control yet.
"Please don't go. Vincent. Don't run off-"
"And I said; I won't.." He cut her off as he kept holding her up onto his arms as if he had remembered something or for what it sounded like to her ears. It did sounded strangely familiar. But he did sounded firm and quite pretty clear."You won't lose me again. I'm right here. I've always been here and waiting up for you and only for you to come up to me, Catherine.." Okay. Something was totally wrong. Well, this day had abseloutely made no sense, at all!
First he said he had no recollection of having any memories of her or even of his old life with family and neither with college with J.T. And there he is saying things he shouldn't even be saying like making promises and promises that aren't real, at least for her. He must be tricking her and slowly hoping he'll go away after she'll calm down. But he did sounded sincere. He really did. He wasn't about to leave any other way and it made her heart throb up into her chest but she wasn't about to leave Vincent behind. Something was telling her that he wasn't ready to leave her. This new Vincent looked too much like her own missed boyfriend and Cat had a feeling that she hadn't lost him after all. He was still here and felt his body getting more warmer to her touch. Or it was her own body that was getting more warmer onto his embrace. She was getting herself more warmer by having him with her and held close. It was a strange feeling but also recomforting and felt at ease.
"Vincent.."
"I'm right here, Catherine, and I won't leave you. I wouldn't ever leave you again. Ever again." His words sounded like they were fading away and why were they felt like that they've sounded like they came from a far?
"I'm not leaving if we can't leave together." His shoulders shivered back as much when his voice broke. His declaration made her feel at ease much as his racing heartbeat made her feel like he hadn't never left. It was a promise and Cat had known this promise had only come off from the real Vincent she always had known. His voice made her feel comforted as if she felt like taking a good nap while standing and leaning onto his chest and hearing his heartbeat racing up with anxiety, all of sudden? Why would Vincent feel anxious? It wasn't making any sense at all. She just gotten him back and held him into her arms when she felt him breathing through her hair and through her neck when she felt his voice close up to her ear.
She swore she could feel tears falling down onto her neck. Silent tears. Vincent had never cried from what she had known. It couldn't be his own tears. Or else how come his voice sounded like he was about to break down? Vincent..-
"NO!" She could hear him scream. From the back of her mind. It sounded like he released up an wrenching and howling yelling in pain and not at here but somewhere else. Which she had no idea, but it did sounded familiar as much when her heart bumped out with pain feeling like it would crush in any minute. And all of sudden, she could feel him shake her shoulders as if she wasn't moving? How come?
"Stay with me, Catherine! Stay with me!"
"Vincent.." But nothing inside of the room had happened and deep down inside of her mind, she heard him yell. She tried to get off of his embrace, but couldn't when she continued to hear his voice pleading up for her and from a far.
"Stay with me! Don't leave me! I beg you not to. Catherine.." Vincent's voice sounded like pleading through her ears. "Don't die on me! You can't leave me, Catherine!" Frightened by the sounds of her lost boyfriend's pleading voice, Catherine managed to break away from Vincent's embrace to look up at him. Something had changed. Vincent looked different from the moment she took him into her arms. There he was with a different shirt with his black sleeves rolled up to his strong forearms and drenched up which had stucked up to his sculputered abdomen through the shirt. Strong and build as ever even if his worried features were covered with both dust and soaked and awfully drenched. His eyes were bloodshot and much as his hair was soaked were in a unexplained mess. But why was he drenched?
But as she took up at look at his side, where a dark crimson forming spot was onto his corner of his shirt. Even his hands were drenched with blood. Vincent! Did he hurted himself? How come? She just gotten him out of the limousine explosion from Braxton's bombing trap! There he shouldn't be-
"Catherine.." Vincent's broken voice had shook her up when she looked up at him when he cleared up his throat and when she had seen him releasing tears falling into his blood dried cheeks. Cat felt her hair drenched up to her skin, also with her clothes as well, and this is where she felt something warm coming out from her cloth. Soaked from head to feet. Intrigued, she looked down and had seen her own side with the same drenched and dark crimson forming up there and to which it didn't seem to stop from elarging up or more like growning up. Blood.
But it wasn't his.
But hers. Her own blood was pooping out and fast.
No wonder her own heart hurted up like a bitch. It wasn't the caffeine that made it hurt but something else. She was pumping blood out and from a hole that came out from her side.
She was bleeding out.
Her eyes rolled back up as she let herself fall down. Almost if it wasn't for Vincent who held her back against him when he felt her slumbered up through his arms like a doll. As if she felt into a deep sleep. Memories came floored up through her mind in a second which had finally made everything clear. And yet everything through her body hurted so much and much enough that she only wanted was to sleep away the pain from having to bare it again. Pain from losing him. Losing Vincent again. Even to bare to ever feel it ever again from the ennemies they've made and especially when it was the bad people who've made him look like he was bad guy when he wasn't, at the very beggining of it.
And yet, she was willing to do anything to make him feel safe from anybody who was willing to hurt and kill him. And the price she was willing to make big sacrifices for him even if it felt like losing her identity and her whole life and her career. Memories blurred out from the past events that and Vincent went through together. From where they've first meet into the forest and later on at the warehouse when she first had seen his face. His guity and pretty shameful features. First time they've shared a good moment at her fire escape and laughed together like a shy couple in love. The time when she looked up at him when he was completely at lost when he locked himself in a cage after having murdering Evan's kidnapper, brutally. The first time they've danced together. The first time he've held her close to him when she was slippering away after getting shot and when they've finally held each other's hands after facing many obstacles and not to mention when they've finally had their first night. Their first lovemaking when she had promised that she wouldn't let anyone else hurt him as long he was under her protection. And when he had been captured, everything changed. She went back and forth to ever find the courage to find him again, until she hadn't realized how much he had changed, not only powerfully and fearless but very different from his mental mind and mostly from her own. They've taken each other a a fake break and another which had almost ripted him apart from his humanity beause of the hard choices she had been forced to make in order to keep him safe from being exposed.
Even if it hurted her to see him kiss a few others women and females beasts, like an sturborn female beast like Tori, until they've finally made up with each other and accepted theirs differences and to learn how to forgive one at another and also to give their love, a second chance. It made her heart raced up when Vincent had stayed up the next morning and laid onto her bed after their first lovemaking after a very longtime being seperated and later got themselves married. And then, later with Gabe being killed off by her doing and by self-defense after he had tried to kill both of them. But it wasn't the last of their worries when two DHS agents had demanded them for their help.
Which where the sacrifices of their their own relationship had started to get tested. With her hiding Vincent away after he had killed an DHS agent in self defense after he had gotten injected with a strong adrealine injection. Cat had remembered trying to convincing him to stop him but the brutal move had occurred in other way. Which had left her strucked into shock as she had realized that whenever normal they wished to have and worked hard to get was gone. It wasn't Vincent's fault, but wasn't she able to protect and defend him from being exposed? She had no evidence or no proof to do so and the lies that came along to protect him were as useless and especially when an female blond haired agent didn't wanted to hear about her or trust her even. A murder stays a murder and needs to be put at prison for the rest of his life. No deal or any uderstatement was gonna be performed. No chance at that. Because nobody wanted to believe her. Both of them. It was themselves against the world, once again. The Homeland Security Departement had a grudge against Vincent and especially when the two of them had tried to leave, they ended up being caught up because of an dead enemy's who decided to frame Vincent for all the mess he had made onto him. As if Hill's murder wasn't enough, Braxton had to add up a few things onto his sleeve and especially when his confession had been caught into recording video, he decided to play dead and decided to kill the others that had followed onto his plan with him.
Catherine groaned back onto her sleep as her chest ached. Her heartbeat raced up through those last and horrifying memories. God, everything burned so harshdly as she felt her hand holding up tight by someone. But everything felt so dark and numb. Damn, she always had been afraid to lose control. And especially when it came to Vincent.
"Don't leave me, Catherine. Please, don't! Stay with me..Please, stay.."
The last goodbyes between their friends and Heather. The last evening onto their own place's rooftop as the two of them staring up at the moonlight sky. At Manhattan's beautifull and craziest view. The two of them rushing into the limousine and pushing Braxton's last member away so he could testify against his boss and away from fear and from getting killed for his life and for his family. The explosion. The two of them holding to each other's hands when it finally happened and thankfully Vincent had managed to get them out in safe.
And just when the two of them rushed back up to get the disguises that Heather and her silly boyfriend had gotten for them for a second plan and this where it happened. The blood. Where it came from. Catherine couldn't remembered it because everything had happened so fast and when Vincent had turned his back for a second, multiple shots were heard through the place. And one had gotten into her, without she could even attack back or even look up at the shooter and neither could Vincent had done. The last thing she could remember was falling up onto Vincent's arms as she collapsed into his hold with him panicking and screaming over her to stay with him as he tried to stop the bleeding. That's where it came from, all that pain. The blood. The pain. Vincent's yelling and begging for her to stay with him.
"I love you so much, Catherine. So much. Please comeback to me!"
Everything felt so weak to her touch and yet she cleared up her throat and pushed up her chest up and made her even strong enough to come out onto a conclusion that she could distinct the blinding light through her closed eyelids as much when something had beeped out loud through her ears. As in rythym and softenening sound through her ears. Her own heartbeat's sound and the numbing pain through her side. Injured side. The shot she had taken by surprise when Vincent and herself had rushed back at home after the explosion and tried packed up fast in order to get away.
Which it had failed if it wasn't for that unknown shooter.
She felt like her hand had been held down by rocks and hard rocks as she slowly tried to flutter up her eyelids open as her side ached up with pain. Good. If she felt any pain, it only meant that she was still here and kicking up alive. Even if she was being lounged down onto a hospital bed. Hospital bed? How come she'd ended up here? Oh right! You've gotten yourself shot, dummy!
Catherine groaned with pain when she finally had managed to clear up and opened up her eyes slowly and to where a loud beeping sound was heard from her left side. Everything looked pale and whittier and enough to make her blink to get the sensation out of her view. It was pretty obvious and coming up from the pallid colors, she was up all being laid down with comformy pilows onto a bed where the covers were up to her waist and to where the pain was at bay. At lower, from the hooked up IV stucked up from her right forearm.
But she wasn't hurting anymore. But what the heck had happened and how the hell she had gotten herself up here? Not because of a shooter, but who had gotten her here? Not the feds, hopefully..Cause if they had, they would have taken Vincent away once again and especially after they had brutally attacked and tortured him before. The tightened up grip onto her hand which made her head turn and stare back at the person who held her hand and seated down close to her onto a chair with its head onto the bed and close up to her lying form. Only one person that she would even be able to recognize and hadn't left her side. Her husband. Vincent.
The wedded band onto his fourth finger made her realize that it was no other person that had been seated at her vigil other than Vincent. With little strength, Cat gave him a squeeze through with her fingers and this is where she've had seen Vincent, slowly raise his head up and to look at her in disbelief. His bloodshot eyes told her everything she needed to know. He hadn't left her side at all ever since she had been brought up here.
"Vincent?" Goddamn it. Her voice sounded hoarse through her ears. He hadn't looked like he hadn't sleep for days. His stubble was covered up by an full beard and his cheeks were streaked up with dried tears. His face was the last thing she had seen before she woken up here and having him sitting down next to her. He must have brought her up here when he could have just left away and to be safe from here. Where there was still danger around. But it didn't looked like it mattered for him.
"Catherine..You're awake, finally.."His voice broke as much as it had been throughout her imagination where he had been almost as destroyed with stained blood onto his hands through her entire dream. Only it wasn't a dream but a real and damn thing. And her own functionned heartbeat had told her that she wasn't dreaming anymore. Without she tried to speak up, he slowly rose up onto his feet and kissed her forehead, and pressed his forehead close down as he leaned over hers. She could have sworn that he tried to swallow back up the urge to burst onto tears. Sobs of relief and after being by her side for many days and weeks, maybe. Weeks and days? What if someone had took a peek and had publically reported to the Homeland Security Departement or even worse to Olivia Dylan? She wouldn't bare to watch him go through all over the pain of being tortured, ever again and under her watch. Being separated from him too. Her eyes widened back at that realization.
"Vincent.." She wispered back when he shook back his head. As if he had read her mind. No, it was out of the question of ever leaving her here. And especially after he almost had lost her when they tried to fleed town. He wasn't backing off.
"Not now." He replied as he remained where his position hadn't left her. But it only made her worried even. He didn't wanted to leave her at any moment.
"Please. You have to leave." She'll find something to say back. Said he escaped from the window, broke a leg or that he managed to run onto the airport, so he would be safe and away from here.
"I can't.." He declined her order. Which made her heart accelerate a bit through the monitor.
"You have to. They're gonna find you here, if you don't.." And especially where the building had security cameras. People would catch them up here and obviously when doctors often made the procedure to give back the bullets to the cops which would lead them to do a fair research onto tracking somebody. Cat was the luckiest person to be at the list. More of an accomplice to Vincent even.
"Let them get to me. Over my dead body." He still wasn't about to give up when the hand that held up onto her own had slowly went up to caress her forearm.
"Vincent-"
"I said; I won't.." He urged up with a shout back when his frustrated brown eyes looked back at hers and ready to cry. He was decided and wasn't gonna leave her in any minute. It left her shocked."I'm not going away this time."
"Vincent..Please, don't.." But Catherine didn't wanted him to be exposed here. It scared her to think that she would probably be the first person to whom people who get theirs hands onto if they wanted to track and stop her husband.
"I'm not gonna leave if we can't leave together.." He sworn back up and stroked up her cheek as he made sure he wasn't dislodging any of her tubes or wires that was hung up onto her. Pretty much like he had made that promise back into her dream."I almost lost you out there.." He clearified back without any hesitation.
"Vincent.." But he just shook his head. He made his mind clear which made her caught up her breath. Pretty much like last time when he had stated that if any federal agent was about to catch him, then like it happen. But if nobody was informed that the two of them had been here, then why the worry? Unless, The Prince's statement had helped them to get exonoration, for both of them.
"I'm not going anywhere. I'm not leaving you this time. Catherine. Not at all." He was determinated as he continued to stroke back her cheek with his eyes that looked like they were about to burst onto tears. And the way his chest had crossed up onto her own, she could feel his heart racing up against hers."Don't make me run away, Catherine. I can't do this, this time. We both know that running away would not fix ours problems." And even pretending to be left off dead and leaving, it wouldn't make things even better. If some stranger outside of the country could have had recognized them? What would have happenned? What else could they do? They coudn't keep on going and switch off every country forever. One day, they'll have to face the reality that they couldn't possibly run away forever. Wouldn't they be watched over the goverment until something bad jumps off the roof and get they'll go back into hiding, all over again? They couldn't go on looking back onto theirs shoulders, forever..She didn't wanted that, anymore but as Catherine lifted up her eyes to see that Vincent wasn't gonna back off or leave. Cause as long that she stayed here, he would as much stay with her as well. No matter what.
"I just..can't." She tried to mutter back as her vocal cords broke. She couldn't help herself but to cry. The last thing she wanted to happen was letting Vincent get into trouble once again and let himself be a martyr for her sake."I don't wanna lose you.." She cried back when he assured her back with a comforting smile as his fingers went through her hair and wipe off the tears that they were about to fall over onto her ears.
"You won't. I'm right here and no matter what else would happen to ours faces, I'm gonna stay here with you and fight it back like we've always had done before. Even if they need to know all the truth about me. So be it." He admitted back to her shock. Was he about to turn himself back like he almost had done before? No, he made it clear; they'll be together into this matter and they would fight it back together, like they always had done before as a team. As a couple. The truth about beasts would somehow come out one day, and hopefully; people would learn to accept them, but not as monsters but as victims. Victims whom their own failling goverment had failed to protect them once. Many soldiers as men and women had perished into battle but not because they had died as heroes but they were silenced because of the people who went over there to elimitate them once they've realized their mistakes. And the goverment had done nothing to stop them from killing them, they've just sat there and had done nothing. Without feeling any shame when they should have had from the start.
So if Special Agent Olivia Dylan would ever think about trying to make her or Vincent look like the bad guy, Catherine would do the pleasure to make her realize that the goverment she'd sworn to protect, was only playing tricks with her loyalty about keeping the country safe from the wrong people. The blond haired female agent would probably re-think twice before she could attack her or Vincent again. And yet, her husband was ready to fight as long she was to be by his side.
"I love you so much.." Catherine shivered back through her tears. It was the best declaration that her husband had ever made till now. Leaving wasn't an option, but fighting for their freedom to live a normal life, it truly was and for Vincent as well. Vincent blinked twice as he tried to hold on onto tears, but they failed as they've fell onto his cheeks. He leaned back back over her. He closed up his eyes and brushed her lips with his own, onto a softenening kiss. Oh God. She missed him so dearly. All this time when she laid up here onto this bed and with him to seated by her side as he waited for her to wake up. Feeling like an hopless man in distress. It must have been hard for him. Almost like an undying torture for him to bare.
"I love you too. Don't ever leave me again, Catherine. I wouldn't survive it." He admitted back within his kisses and as he took a few breaths to clutch at her back when his face leaned down onto her neck as he breathed her scent by holding her close, hopefully and desperately. "Please, don't ever leave me again.." He cried back through her shoulder.
"I won't.." She promised him back when she reached up her arm to pat his back. To feel how much he was shaking through his tears. She rubbed his shaking back from back and forth when she could him crying and shaking up through her ear. How frightened he had been to think if she ever was gonna make it or not. No wonder if the dream she've had when she had been uncounscious made sense. It was to test up her loyalty and probably Vincent's as well and lately, he hadn't failed as he stood up by her side and hadn't left when he should have had. But he did stayed with her. Cause he loved her so much and wouldn't dare to leave her when her life had been in danger. Cat shut her eyes down when she managed to bring both arms to keep Vincent into her arms despite the silent pain coming from her side. They were a team. A couple whom desesparetely love one at another, like they had no other tomorrow to overcome.
Which they've finally had made it from there to here.
"Cat? Oh my God!" Another familiar voice was heard through the place when the ex-female detective opened up her eyes to see Heather who had come up here with a packed lunch probably for Vincent. Cat could see her sister that was about to release a heartfull cry when she had seen her sister who finally had woken up here. And with her arm who was still onto a cast after she gotten herself shot by Braxton and with her hair who needed a good haircut. Like she always told her older sister to fix her hair back then. But Cat held a finger to her lips and mentionned Heather that Vincent needed a moment to recollect with himself or else he won't be able to face his sister in law ever again with the way she had found him by now.
"Heather?" That was Kyle's worried voice from what Cat had recognized. The very first man who had become Heather's first solid boyfriend as he had came over behind his girlfriend who held a curse back from him. And Cat could tell that Heather wasn't ready to forgive him for exposing her sister and her husband from leaving town as he had alerted the authorities back then to get them. But if it wasn't for the blond haired man, neither Cat or Vincent would have managed to stop Braxton, if he hadn't. But for Heather, it looked like she didn't wanted to forgive him in anytime soon.
And probably a soon break-up would come up even, after Cat would get herself discharged from here. She felt it coming in soon.
"Let's go back and get a doctor, Kyle. Now that Cat's awake." She cried out as she tried to wipe off the tears away from her eyes and hopefully if she had enough time to recheck onto her eyeliner and mascara. She turned around and pushed the blond haired man back as he pushed the door away for her to walk out. But Cat had known that Heather really didn't wanted to forgive Kyle with no matter how he had tried to make her think that her brother in law was a bad guy had been a misunderstanding, she wouldn't probably hear it anyways and even if it meant that he only had wanted to protect her. Poor Kyle, but he did gave her and Vincent a good re-thinking back by keeping them here and not flying away when an enemy had still been onto the loose. Cat felt Vincent standing his head away back as he had finally manged to get himself under control this time when his breathing started to slow down and blinked out his eyes when she rose both of her arms up as she tried to wipe off his tears away. Who said that a real man couldn't cry?
"We're together into this, Vincent, aren't we?" She asked him back and especially when she felt like he was about to leave her but he had declined back the idea when he still shook up his head. They were together. No matter what. But needed him to clear out her thoughts that she wanted to be sure where his loyalties were at. Even she had already known.
"Always.."He whispered through his breath and took her left hand as he kissed her knuckles back like it was precious to him. Because she was precious for him and ever since the day he had meet her."I won't leave you this time, Catherine. Ever. No matter what happens to us. I won't.." And Catherine had known that he was telling the truth from the way he opened back up his eyes and stared her back. With his eyes that were willing to go anywhere she was willing to go as long he would go with her.
As much as her heartbeat would tell when her husband had told her that he wasn't willing to give up on her. And for love.
...
That oneshot was pretty hard for me to finish up. From the start of "Terrible Love" to the "Who Am I?" And to the"Au Revoir." episodes. But only with VinCat wouldn't hadn't left up like the original episode at the end of the series. I always felt like there was more to tell than to end up the series and even if it wasn't picked up for a fifth season. That oneshot was told through Cat's point of view and that with Vincent being onto alerting mood whenever her heartbeat was racing badly, feeling he was much worried even if he had forgotten about her into this episode. Until she had woken up and to see him by her side as he seated up near to her bed.
And knowing Vincent, he wouldn't able to leave Cat at all, even if his life was much at risk. He would not. Kinda had wished if the show had shown Vincent being more protective of Catherine than she had been for him . But it's still was a good and is still a good show to re-watch back up. Even if I felt like they needed to explain more about the unexplained things they've left away into the show. That beasties would want to know.
Anyways. Tell what you've thought about this oneshot if you've liked or not. Don't be shy to leave a review, beasties! The show may be over, but not the fanfics! Don't give up onto the writers here! Beasties are here to stay, aren't we? And don't forget I'm willing to take any fanfic request here and anything about VinCat!
Thank you again, beasties for your support and love! Don't give up onto the fanfiction here!
See ya!
