A little after seven o clock of the morning and especially after waken up alone onto her bed with a note from her husband that had told her that he may need to do the early morning shift, Catherine rose up early from her bed and discored Vincent late note onto the bed with a sneaky frown onto her face as she propped an elbow onto her pillow. "Had to cover up for a kid and needed to run over an early morning shift at 4 o clock. Sorry, if I had to leave you alone at bed. V." Couldn't blame the guy, even if he did left her alone at early darkness of the morning. Cat had known that he needed to complete and fufill the mess he made last year and even if she and he had been declared exonorated from the last years crimes, Vincent had known that he needed to do better from now on. For both of them, now that they were gonna have a baby along the way now.
And she sure needed to make herself loyal as well to her departement as well and especially after she did dropped them off, so suddenly after she had no other choice but to accept Homeland Security Departement forced offer of a job, before and to which she had thought would have had helped if Hill had went along with her and her husband, and not the other way behind their back. Which he had done and had ended with terrible consecquences because of his own unjustified actions which had led him to his death. It wasn't Vincent's fault, but his own.
Which it wouldn't have had been easy if the truth about beasts had come along. They couldn't tell anybody, but now that they were having a child, things would be much different now. They would need to think much differentely, than they've used to. Very much, differently than before. Cat had thought back as she dropped the note and pushed the covers away as she rose up from bed, heading up to the showers, thoughfully.
But they must have known, now that all cases swifted back onto their hold. Unless, none of them had the time to get a least a peak onto it. Cause whatever video footages they had on Vincent, had been gone from their files as if Braxton hadn't been able to record them which any other agent or like Special Agent Olivia Dylan hadn't found a single clue about Vincent being a beast.
But how? Who could have had erased them in the first place? All files were held back by Rafferty after the shooting incident and with the threat of him wanting to bring the departement for conspriracy into court, and especially when one of their agents had tried to kill an innocent man. Which she had been too late to even stop it from happening, but like her husband had said; Even if she walked in time to stop him, the same thing would have occured either way. Neither her could have stop or on his own way either. He couldn't have stopped himself from doing it. Which he still feels the blame on each day that both of them have still the chance to walk free from last year's events. When a avenging man had tried to kill Vincent on his own terms. That image was still hauntening her deep down of her mind as she closed her eyes, Catherine shivered through the heated steamed water as she fingers massaged through her long locks of hair in order to get rid of the shampoo.
Special Agent Deputy Hill, had a family too. A wife and a young daughter to protect but did it gave him the right to try and eliminate an innocent man like Vincent? While the real bad man was still at large and outside? No, it didn't. However, with the thought of carrying a child within her, it did frighten her for a quite of a time now that she was pregnant for real. Cat turned back the tapes, went out of the shower changed onto her blue and purple flanel clothes and made her hair tied onto an tight and messy bun as she walked onto the kitchen and made herself some tea before grabbing up her phone led up herself onto the rooftop. Even if she and Vincent needed to keep this pregnancy alone from tabloids or from anybody, she needed support and since Heather had been occupied onto another job after her breaking up with Kyle, she needed someone else's support.
Her bestie whom went through an living hell, with her as long as she could when she and Vincent were going through a lot.
Tess. The friend to whom she owned everything and her own freedom as well.
...
"It's a nice sunrise here..Not cold but just alright through this weather." Cat whirled around as she held up the knitted cloth close to herself in order to keep from the chilling wind of an early August, when she watched Tess coming out from the door as she walked over onto the rooftop, a couple minutes later, at this very early morning. She looked like she was up dressed with a blue longsleeved shirt and her curly hair onto a mess up for work even if it was still early at start. All suited up here like a buisiness woman which Tess totally wasn't but in order to safe appearences. Cat even wondered how well her friend was gonna take the news once she hears it from herself.
"It's actually dawn by now. I like to watch the sun rising up from here." Such a nice view.
"And you've brought beer as well, just like old times." But Tess gave it a weird look when she only had seen one filled up beer onto the rounding table as a red mug sat next to it. Where hot liquid was onto it. Tess looked up at her friend who smiled nervously at her frowning face."But only for me as I can see it, here." Cat had smilled nervously when her best friend had walked over to sit down onto the lounging chair. Tired as she didn't gave a damn onto how her unruly and curly hair looked like. It was just the tipical Tess that she had known. Even if she was now a busy woman now. Her own captain and working onto her own precinct. Her own boss, this time. She've had so much accomplished this time, than Cat had done over the past year. After all, it was Tess and J.T. that had caught the bad guy after she and Vincent had tried fleed away until an intruder had tried to kill them once they've gone back to their appartement. Her, mostly. Close enough to get herself killed from that moment. Damn it. Everything went so fast as she nodded onto these long lost memories. Cat didn't quite fully remembered what she could remember but the last thing she did remember it was falling over onto Vincent's arms and with the way he yelled her name, it was wreteching as if he had been the one who had the bare the pain coming through the sudden gunshot sound when they've gathered up the things thewy've needed to leave the city for good.
For Tess, it was a relief to be able to think that her own bestie friend was still alive, and not perished through a explosive bomb along with Vincent and with J.T. who've tried to protected him before, she could've had understand it why. The two of them were cleared off from the accusations and even Special Agent Olivia Dylan had been suspended, once all the case have gone up clearly according to her own boss. All for a month, through after Internal Affairs went up to the case, just as Cat had threatened the agent before when the blond haired middle aged woman had come over to pay off her respects to an recovering Cat who laid over her own hospital bed, while she clutchered up Vincent's hand and from leaving her in a second. And she had meant every word, despite being drugged from the drugs they've given her to recover. With the way, they've sent her into prison and from believing she've covered up Vincent from being a terrorist. Which it wasn't. The blond haired bitch had deserved to be suspended after the hell, she've putted them through, a year ago. And even, if she wanted to believe that the late secratary Hill was innocent, it was wrong. Braxton had been playing them wrong but it wasn't fair that Hill had tried and yet had filed up Vincent for treason. And yet, they've paid the price for his death. Until, a man with the same skin color as Hill had proved them wrong. Attorney Chadewick Rafferty wanted to take the whole case up to the light, and expose those who've had betrayed his father, her own mother and themselves and not to forget all the soldiers whom had died dishonorably and unfairly into the field, many years ago and even if it meant by taking the whole entire governement, down. After, his own father had died under Murfield's protective leadership. Which Cat could understand deeply, cause even if her mother went back to her, she sure as hell came back with a lot of baggages onto her shoulders.
It was damn right, that Chandler felt horribly guilty as she went to side up with the ennemy that she hadn't known would destroy many lives, includding her daughter's and Vincent's because of an horrible mistake she helped to create, though. Which it all had started up.
But if it hadn't been for her, neither Vincent or Cat wouldn't have had the chance to meet, at all. If it hadn't been the case.
"Cat? How come, you're not drinking with me?" Cat blinked up from old memories when she looked back to her bestie and ex-partner who had managed to drop down the real thing by moving up the mug a little bit closer to her side with a playfull frown as she dragged her bottle of beer close to her mouth.
"Why?"
"Well, because we're partners and friends..And I've gotten your back, this time." Only this time. Cat was pregnant and wanted to make sure this baby was gonna be alright this time. And this, without any danger but could she swore to this promise?
No, she wasn't so sure. And even, she wanted to.
"Cat?"
"I'm okay, Tess. No worries..I'm drinking vanilla tea, as you can see here." She took her heated mug up with both hands with a reassuring smile but that didn't stopped Tess from keeping onto wanting to know more.
"That's what you've told me the last time that you and Vincent were gonna take care of everything until the very the next day, J.T. and I had heard the death sentence from the bridge explosion. Which we did tracked Braxton when he was on his way to an private jet and had tried to roll us all over.." Tess had resumed to Cat's stupefied sight as she went on for more, still as sober as she could." However, we've come up with a plan. We've came up as armed and when Braxton was driving towards, let's just say we fired back without any hesitation. Killed him as I should state that but that was before Webster had called me up to clearify that there was a shooting at your place. And from the way that Vincent had called up EMT which to Kyle had repsonsed before he responsed all details to Heather." Oh God. These moments had been hard to go through it. Both of them had to do it, in order to have a better and safe future and far away from hunters and beasts or anybody else that would catch them up into the act or even betraying them.
But a sudden gunshot had stopped them, while they've believed their plan had succeded after the bridge explosion. Someone had shot at at them and mostly at her at close range. Which had changed everything they've been planned to do for a couple of days when Vincent had realized that he had been framed by someone. Peter Braxton had tried to put the put the blame onto him after he had ordered the killing of his own partners and through the security hunters group he had made and functionned to get him killed. Graydal. And arresting her as well a year ago, which it almost ended her career, until Heather had brought a lawyer to help to her ass out. And despite Vincent telling her that nobody had tried to break him off into beast unleashing up, it did left him with deep scars inside. Not to forget these onto the outside. Didn't mattered if she had been his way to save him back where DSH agents had held him against and tortured him, Catherine had felt the deep resent of them and wanted them to pay for the damage they made Vincent endure. All that torture and with the way the agents had treated him like an savage. A monster. His scars marked onto his strong back, were a reminder of an living nightmare that he had to endure and to which she'll never be able to forget anytime soon. Scars that she had stared back on each night when the two of them slept together or when she was supposedly sleeping. Her emerald eyes were staring up at them as much whenever her fingers were tracing these long rigged scars marked onto his exposed skin reflected over the moon's light.
"Don't worry." Vincent had replied back to her concerned features when she blinked back to his deep voice as if he could read her. Just a few hours after he went back home and onto town after being held for almost three days under."They didn't break me. You helped me out to find the answers." She did? But how? She wasn't there when he needed her when he had been facing his demons on his own! When she should have had!
"I've helped you? But how?" She rose up an questioning eyebrow back at the reflection from the mirror when he smiled back at her face before he brought this up by trying to rassure her up. All anger was gone from his features.
"Like you've always had done before. Made me think clearly." Vincent whirled around after events he went through under deep ground with the agents that have ghad interrogated, starved and tortured him. He blinked back as his eyes glowed up with gratitude over her. The woman who always had managed to save him at no matter cost. It didn't mattered if he was in a mess and nearly aged up from the hard time he went through in a living hell and chained up like a slave up to them.
"You did saved me, back there. Catherine.." He sighed back in relief and as he grabbed her face in a hopefull kiss even before she could realize the impact she made him feel when he felt so alone and lost. It had been so surprising. And with the way he had endured his own nightmares leaving hers to deal on her own, which she still didn't had the courage to tell him back. Cause she did had a few after she and he went back onto their lives. Him as a hardworking doctor and her as a detective, assigned back to her own job.
Maybe, Rafferty was right. She needed to press charges from the damages that she and Vincent went through before but had always tried to denied it and especially after going through the same nightmare of her getting shot at or at Vincent after they've ran away. And living through the fear of ever getting caught of and letting Olivia Dylan going through with her feelings throughtout this invastigation, it did ended into trouble and especially when she had let her feelings along the way while the bad guy had been still at loose. No wonder she had been suspended in the meantime while Cat had been hospitalized before.
"I'm sorry, that we've have had scared you. Both, I mean." Cat had tried to appolegize as she put down her mug onto the table, but Tess didn't wanted to hear any of it.
"You've made me cried, like a total bitch, you know? Don't try to make me go through that same path again. Ever." The female captain grumbled back as she took a huge gulp of her beer which made Cat wince feeling guilty over the pain she had made Tess go through before.
"Tess, I-"
"You do know. That not only you and both of you made me cry, but J.T. had been the worst to bare out of his chest and to realize that both of you had actually made it through-" Tess had brought up her beer down onto the table as she watched up the sun rise up to the sky. Frustrated, by the souvenirs.
"But, I didn't ask you to keep Dylan under surveillance-"
"She did deserved to." Her ex-partner had grumbled back in disgust. "But I'm actually was relieved that you've knocked some sense to her, when you've threatened her to the Internal Affairs for almost compromising a case, when she could've had tried to look through the real bad guy who've had tried to frame Vincent for everything. And don't even remind me of Hill. Cause, he was no better even if he had been afraid for his life. It didn't mattered. He had known what he tried to do by killing Vincent. When the two of you had saved him and his family. It was still no excuse. Dylan was no better, even." Tess had reminded her back then, when Cat had been uspet before at few hours of her awakening. Quite drugged from the sleeping meds, but still. She had meant all of her words.
"Yeah. Maybe.."
"Maybe? You were right to threatening her up here, a year ago. Cause, if you haven't had, that bitch wouldn't have had looked up onto the other direction, I've ordered up.." Tess had spit it out a little too fast as Cat gave her a weird look as much as Tess ran her fingers back through her hair.
"You've bossed her around?" Cat had almost laughed around. Knowning Tess, she would definally, imagining her friend bossing every high profiling or an ignoring person to come out to her betraying actions. And even if it meant to be a good person or not. It would have had caused an entire fire explosion.
"If I haven't, she wouldn't haven't had looked around onto the right direction, Cat..And if it wasn't for J.T.'s tracking up to the evidence scene, you and I wouldn't be talking right now." Tess had clearified through her conversation. However, Olivia didn't deserved to be suspended by her own boss once he had heard the news, he was deadly furious not only at them or at Olivia, but for himself. Guess, that Rafferty had been right. Olivia's own boss had been a pussy almost thirty years ago, when people like Vincent had asked for protection from ennemies and seeked for Homeland Security Departement. And to most of them had ended up dead. No wonder, Vincent couldn't trust any law enforcement before he've meet her. He didn't wanted to be taken as a case, before and knowning what a mess it've made to be. And the way, it made J.T. loyal to the captain here.
And especially, after years of trying to be a normal couple. And mostly, for Cat who tried to keep things real and quiet for Vincent and herself. By forming up a family. And hopefully, without any danger after the Braxton's situation. A living nitghmare from last year and from the way Vincent had tried to give up for Cat's safety.
"But, anyways." Tess had changed up the subject with a smirk."So, tell me.." Tell her what? That she was caught up pregnant this time? And for real? Cat had gulped up at this sentence.
"Tell you, what?" Don't play innocent, kitty girl. Whenever Tess smells trouble she knows where it would come from, knowning her years as a detective before. Tess had turned back at her with an annoyed look. Which meant to say; Do not fool with me.
"You've hadn't called me up not for nothing if it wasn't important, right Cat?"
"Duh?" Cat had almost snorted out mockedly, but failed as her friend still didn't bought it her act. When Tess made an frowning face as she folded her arms against her dark plum long sleeved shirt.
"Okay, kitty cat. What's going on here?" Kitty cat? She hated to be nicknamed like that and especially, when she had been caught up into a lie. Just-how many lies had she said throughtout the years by pretending that she has been feeling alright, when it wasn't the absolute truth? They say a cat has around nine lives to live upon, but what happens after a cat lies for nine times? Does karma goes back around?
"If I wasn't high up enough, I wouldn't have had called you. But here I'm standing-no, but sitting down with you, today."
"So, tell me; what the hell is going on?" Closing her eyes tight, Cat just had known that she had to come up onto conclusions one day or another, or else Tess would figured out on her own way. And besides, a baby wouldn't just stop from growning and would probably start to manifest its way out, after almost eight months later.
"I'm pregnant.." A total absolute silent moment was filled up onto the rooftop and between the ex-partners here, or mostly it seemed to have taken a long silence for Cat as she felt wanting to hold up her breath. She opened up her eyes as she looked ready to get beaten or attacked out but nothing had occured up but had seen Tess realing a teasing smile until she started to snicker like a kid. Or more she had released back an awaitening laugh to Cat's surprising stare.
"Ha ha. Yeah, right. I don't buy that..Last time you've told me it was stress and or Vincent made you vomit-" Tess was laughing back but Cat wasn't this time.
"No, it wasn't, and this time, it's real..I'm really pregnant this time, Tess. And for real!" Cat had followed up as her friend's eyes went big as she stood silent and gulped hard the gulp from the beer. She blinked up back as gave herself a good punch onto her chest and faked a good cough out.
"I know I've should I've told you before but I wanted to be certain first." The female detective had declared back. "I've taken up to a real doctor and did all the tests I've had to take which told me that I was pregnant and for real, this time." She followed up as Tess nodded back when she put back her beer onto the rounding table and folded her leg under her knee and brought up her fingers together as she gave a good look at her friend.
"And for real?"
"Yes.."
"What does Vincent had to say, about it?" Quite happy. To her delight as Cat remembered back at the official announcement. Not to mention, he almost had shouted that he and she were pregnant! And ready to scream it out to the roofs! It was a good thing that Dr. Varkis hadn't tried to sedate him for being too much happy, when almost three years ago, he had been against it. Well, when he had been into hiding. And no where to have a future with her, but in secret.
"He did looked shocked, at first, but with everything we went through together, lately. He still and did looked happy." Cat had followed back with a shrug. "Relieved even." As Tess nodded back as she tried to understand here.
"So, with the baby thing going on, he just agrees with you?" She asked back as she waved out her hand to her face as Cat nodded back in conclusion.
"I do know that's it's gonna be hard and as much real this time. I mean with Tori and Liam that camed out as beasts, before. I'm afraid that I'll be doing this wrong. That we'll be doing this in the wrong way. Both, Vincent and I.." The thing that how Liam's and Tori's living lives as beasts were had been wronged from the system. Tori's true identity has been so much into hidden by her father that had made her lose control and to let Vincent fall under her spell until he managed to broke things off, but as for Liam, it had been different. He had been so alone, that nobody wanted to even feel him near to them and even if Rebbecca had tried, she just couldn't. Not after her heart had told her, otherwise which it had lead up onto a devasting state.
"You're both afraid that your kid would attract athorities's attention. Like Dylan's?" Tess had admitted back, if the baby comes out as a beast. It may be a tiny clue, but Cat a few thoughts about it, lately. No wonder Vincent had freaked about that subject back at the past. About his own DNA traced down.
"If it comes out onto public's attention, yes. Which we both wouldn't want that to happen, if there's a kid ready to poop out and especially it's a beast, Tess.." Cat had finally explained back as the female captain nodded after she understood the stressing definition of the problem source.
"Oh.." Tess had leaned back to her chair and took back her beer and gulped down a huge gallon of it, as she finally had gotten of how the situation had been hard or more stressfull for Cat to go back onto it. Which she did quite freaked out a little bit, here.
"Don't 'Oh' me here. We both didn't know how it gotten this way, until-.."
"Sorry, it's just my brain went into 'Breaking Dawn, part two' here..Like before..When you first told me you could be be pregnant-" Tess had snickered back. Not if it could go through this direction, but it was always a suggestion to it to laugh about but, it didn't certainly made Cat laugh or smile, at all.
"But this time, it is real!"
"Look, don't worry. Okay? I wouldn't be saying anything, but if you're starting to show up, and I mean, physically, You'll have to come up to facts, Cat. No offense." If she starts to show up, right. But Cat waved her hand.
"None, taken."
"And like you said about you and Vincent being happy about it. I mean onto having kids, even if been up as a surprise, though." Tess had pushed the hard feelings away as she stood up as a friend for her,at this point."You guys, do not regret about this decision, aren't you? About keeping the kid?"
"No, but-"
"Then, everything should be fine and besides, many female detectives have gotten pregnant. Well, those I've had know, are actually taking one step at time and especially my sisters in law. But as a beast baby, and if there is one coming along the way, both you and Big Guy, would just do okay. I'm sure of it.." Tess had assured back and pushed herself half up and over to Cat as she gave a good grabbing up onto her palm to her surprise."You guys are gonna be okay, I'm sure of it.."
" Thanks. That means a lot,Tess. It really is.." Her features softened up bit when she had her friend's support when she dropped herself back onto her chair, but as a frown camed back to her face.
"Look, in the meantime, I'll try to cover you up, but what about Vincent? You've said he was happy, but he isn't a bit scared here?" Quite true. Even though he did looked happy when she announced the news, he was also scared and scared to even think that his own child could have his genes that could pass down or not. Not only about the Kellers's Hothead's gene but also his own DNA.
Even if they wanted to have kids in anytime soon, which it might happen for the next eight months.
"I'm sure, he is. But together, we would overcome it and unlike what had happened to Tori or Liam, we sure hope, that the baby wouldn't come up as screwed as we think he or she would turn out to be.." Cat had resumed as certain as she sounded. But for how long, exactly? "But, like you said..If I start to show up, it could lead people up to believe that I can be pregnant-"
"Nobody knows about Vincent being a beast. Not even Homeland Security knows that.." It was true, nobody knows about it, because the files that had Vincent transformed thanks to Peter Braxton's threatening orders, had been erased. But by whom? Who managed to walk through her office when Dylan and her team had her office trapped with surveillance?
"Maybe because all the footages videos were erased up from the files they've had. I get it. But still, knowing how Dylan could be persuasive at things, I'm worried it could get badly, if she sees me being eight months pregnant in the near future and with Vincent, we might be-"
"Then file an restraining order.."Tess had added back to her concerning stare."Why not? If I were you, I would certainely do that, in the first place if I ever felt to be threatened, not only for myself, but for your husband and also includding your baby to come, Cat.." But Cat didn't know for sure it was the right idea. But if it meant to be for protection, for the three of them.
"You're sure about that?"
"Positive." Tess had sighed back at her uncertain stare."Nobody else deserves a better life than you and Vincent do. And if you feel that Dylan is making you live a hard time. Well, the better way is to let her know that you wouldn't let herself step onto your feet, or else you can file and press charges against her to keep her away. Dylan should have had followed the structure and not her personal feelings even if Braxton had faked his death and pushed the guilt onto you and Vincent, before she came up to realize the mistake she made." She followed back with a sigh. "Doesn't matter if you like a drenched kitten or not." She joked right back as Cat had been caught off guard as she started back to that answer. Kitty cat. Now, a drenched kitten?
"I'm not a drenched kitten!" Cat defended herself back as Tess almost snorted out the beer gulp through her nose.
"I know you don't. I can tell that you are able to kick some ass, but from the way you look now-you do look like it.."
"I am not.." Still offended as she pouted back with an annoyed frustration which made Tess snorted at her expression.
"Trust me. It's gonna be alright.. you and Vincent are doing okay. Don't worry too much. It won't do any good to the kid.." Tess had followed up back and pointed another sensitive subject."Once, you did say that my life would have had changed if I choosed to follow both you and Vincent, which it did. And as much as I tried to deny it, I certainly can't. It kinda had opened up my eyes and made me realize who were the bad and good ones you chose up to be or to believe into. The living into the black and white zone, remember?"
"I sure do.." Cat had remembered about that time when she and Tess had their last time onto the rooftop and talked about things and how to be able to protect Vincent from getting exposed as Murfield had been looking up for him before and from the way, they've had used Evan as leverage. Cause no matter how she did tried to ignore that detail, Tess's life did changed whatever she had liked or not but it had also saved her friendship with Cat as she had continued to be her partner before today.
"Does anybody else knows about you and Vincent expecting? I mean like Heather or J.T.? Cause I do know that they would want to know as much as you think.." Oh God. J.T. and Heather? Well, things are sure would gonna be hard to handle once they hear about these news. So much that it made her feel so small onto her seat.
"I'm sure J.T. would flip out for good but as for Heather, well." Cat took back up her mug to take a sip."I believe that I better think about it. With the events that had happened last year and with her breaking up with Kyle, I just don't wanna push things too fast."
"You still think, she's not able to forgive Kyle, after last year?" But the female detective had other views about it. Usually, Heather was the kind of a girl who easily moves on and mostly, focus onto her work to get over heartbreak. Cause after the events from last year, Heather seemed to be able to forgive Kyle, even if he wanted to protect them both from Vincent, when he had been the lead suspect as a terrorist and framed by Braxton.
"Forgive and to forget, aren't the same to deal." Cat shurugged back as she sat down her mug onto the table and exhaled as she entwined her fingers together onto her belly and looked away at the sky. Blue sky, now as the sun had risen up. "Maybe she just needs time, but hopefully it wouldn't be for too long. It took me a long way to finally be able to forgive my mother for what she had done to Vincent. I kinda got stucked onto anger over her, before I've realized that I've ruined up my bridal shower." Not to mention, the pleasent evening had been a total failure and not to forget that both Aunt Claire and Aunt Lillian looked surprisedly shocked and totally bafled. They really had no idea of anything at all. And yet, Cat had the tendency to destroy everything that Heather had planned everything to please her.
Which it quite made her feel like she was in fact, the bad sister even if the moment wasn't the good one to choose at the very moment they were at. Especially with special and super humans assassins first with the Homeland Security agents, Bennett and Thomas, and then later Bob and Carol aka Bonnie and Clye until Julianna who made them become who they were in order to stop an anvenging beast from killing ; Liam Cullen.
"Sure it was..But don't wait too long or else, she'll see a big difference coming up from you..Colossal, if I might say.." Her partner had followed back as she looked back at Cat who gave her a understanding nod. And Tess was right. She couldn't hide the pregnancy for long from showning up. One way or another, she'll probably have to tell her sister that she was about to expect a baby with Vincent. And if J.T. hears about this, he would certainly kill his best friend, litterly joking but still. Enough to make him have a heart attack. Heather would freak out even as double.
...
A couple hours later after watching the early dawn onto her own rooftop with her friend, Cat was back with different clothes wearing a loose and sleeveless shirt but kept her long brown hair onto a loose tied bun up onto her head, back up at the quiet precinct finishing about the last case that she and Max had been working on for a couple few days before and not to mention, she had brought on a box of donuts from the coffee shop a few blocks away from the ther coffee shop she used to go before. Not that Il Cantuccio hadn't had any donuts before, but felt like she needed to do her treat for once.
And especially after the mess from last year, she felt like she owned someone here. Talking up with Tess this morning helped her to ease up her fears towards the future that she and Vincent would have to overcome if any danger were about to slap up at their own faces, once again but since nothing had happened ever since the hitman had tried to silenced them both and includding her own life, she was still lost into her thoughts as she typed down onto her keypad here.
You're probably worrying over nothing, it might be as well the hormones that must drive you crazy, here..And especially, when her own doctor, Dr. Varkis had recently told to keep less crazy and avoid all stress as much as she could or else, she might as well lose the baby. Which had been a terrible thought to ever imagine after all the hardships she and Vincent went through, together and with the way Vincent had responsed to the news when he heard that they might as well gonna have a baby, it was just priceless and relieved. A way to win back their normalacy onto the life they've always wanted to built out together. She smiled back at this thought.
Even though that Vincent might need to earn back the mess and the lack of support from his work to the hospital, he wanted to do anything to make it look perfect as it used to be before, Hill's and Peter Braxton's mess went along the way and destroyed all theirs chances to live a happy and normal life, that they've always wanted without hurting anybody else. To live in peace, finally. She sighed back as she rose back her arms up and crossed her fingers behind her head. Maybe, Tess was right in one point if she thought that a certain and sturborn Special Agent Olivia Dylan kept on harrassing her from afar, she might as well fill up an restraining order to keep the female agent away from her sight and hopefully, to protect both Vincent and her baby away from any harm. Or from anybody else.
And Attorney Chadewick Rafferty would certainly want to push up the restraining order even further than that. He'll be even pleased to make it work as it should have had from many years ago. Like a sweet revenge he might want to make it happen, in the early future. From the way, his own father had died when he was just a kid. Just like the way, her own mother had been killed and how much close she had been on the edge to killed if it wasn't by Vincent coming over and to save her, back at that night.
"Call it a day, already?" Max's deep voice was heard as she rose her head a bit away from her thoughts. She could tell that he was smirking up a bit and to tell he had confided into her about his own troubles with his own girlfriend, the absolute and intelligent Lizbeth, who tried to save him from everything until he figured what into a mess she must have had put him onto until he had almost called out.
"It's too early to call it, that way. It may be quiet but it could always go back into a wreck in the very next hour." Cat had replied back with a teasing smile back at the young man with the blue shirt who was now her partner."It never stays too quiet, you know?" It never does. She certainely knows, ever since she gotten involved onto Vincent's life, it never stayed quiet. So, even after a whole year, things would probably jump up once again like they used to, unless it stopped from that shooting incident. If any ennemy from Murfield had been stopped, from that night.
Unless that hitman was working alone, from the start. And hid away into the darkness, ready to ever jump again, only this time, Cat would be ready to stop it, from happening again.
If I ever could prevent it from ever happening it again. She thought once again but the question is that could she ever be strong enough to prevent it, the second time?
What if that hitman had triggered for Vincent from the first place? No, it couldn't be it. She shook back her head. Cause if that hitman had been under his radar and was triggering Vincent, he would have had shown up once again. He or she would have had. Hill could have had chosen a different path instead of betraying them, and it saddened her to ever think what have had happened earlier when the agent had committed the unthinkapable which had pushed them both to make hardened choices. Choices that nobody could go back from, which they've almost had until that shooting that have had her almost killed and from the way she've had threatened the female agent that she was willing to denounce her to the internal affairs from almost compromissing the case and by almost sending an man onto jail for personal affairs onto the job, cause have they hadn't looked through the right and evil man, they would have had been locked up into jail. And let the real bad guy walking away, free.
And letting them carrying the blame forever.
Cat shook back her head as a groaning sound was walking up to her way, there was Ciccotelli, looking a bit of green as he was walking over into the station like an moving zombie with an tired Romano behind his back, looking almost as much tired like he was when he walked over here. Green, even as if he had just thrown up outside. Hard day.
And these hard days that she almost and missed about.
"Hey, you look like you've seen a ghost, Ciccotelli.." Cat had spoken out as if it was meant to be a joke when the dark haired cop had given her a hard stare and held himself onto the counter where the coffee pot was held up with the donuts. Donuts, she had bought for a treat. Which meant to be hers after a very longtime of being gone. However, Ciccotelli looked like it didn't mattered as his brown eyes looked back at her and from the way his face looked a bit pale as he held onto the counter as he gulped back and hard as he shook his head as if he wanted to shake something invisible. Oh Boy, he looked horrible, his dark hair was a mess and his clothes, his red shirt was wrinkled up as he had rolled up his sleeves many times because of stress. The tipical joys of being a cop, as Cat had observed.
"You okay?" She looked over him, concerned as he looked like he was about to thrown up, much like the very first case she had witnessed many years ago as a cop. But to her concern, he waved a hand before he almost missed a step back.
"Wanna a donut? Heard they were great, here.." Max had offered back as he pointed them onto the counter.
"Sorry. Can't.." Ciccotelli blinked back as he put a hand over onto his stomach and then later, onto his mouth as he wanted to try to hold up a burp from coming out, but Cat had known, that it was far more than it seemed to be.
"Ciccotelli, really, are you okay?" He looked like he was about to pass out, or more holding on altogether as she leaned back to her chair.
"Cat, has gotten over your tongue, no?" Max had joked out, lamely, but Cat or Romano hadn't found it anything funny about.
"Ciccotelli?"
"Sorry, I can't-" But the male cop couldn't hold out for more as his hand covered his mouth and rushed fast onto the men's restroom without giving an exact answer to both Cat and Max, who were left perplexed.
"What just happened, here?" Cat looked confused as Romano walked over to her and Max. He sighed as he wipped off the sweat of his brow and looked back at them.
"Hard case. That's all.." He answered back for answer. "But Ciccotelli managed to hold up together, while I cowarded up behind a tree. Throwing up my shit." He gulped back as well. Oh Crap. Cat just made a weird face when the image came across her mind.
"Like?" Max had followed up when Cat felt like her heart wanted to go up from her own throat when she had heard the exact answer that no parent would want to know.
"Children crimes are always the worst to overcome and since Dante has kids, it often makes it harder for him to overcome and to bear it." And no new parent should experiment it, either. Which it did left her with many shivers going up through her spine.
...
Romano was right. Children crimes were hardest to overcome. After a few minutes into the bathroom, Ciccotelli walked out of the bathroom after he cleaned up himself and walked away to his desk as Romano gave him a blue mug with heated coffee as a comfort drink with a lame excuse saying it wasn't with vodka, unfortunatelly and walked back up and seated onto the edge of Cat's desk with his arms crossed up against his chest and explained the whole situation to both of them. Both Max and herself, as sobered as he seemed to be.
"We've got called up at six o clock of the morning, when a call from witnesses said that half naked kid was found with a woman, into her mid-twenties with a short silk and white short nightgown dress laying down onto the ground, close up to the horsing station farm and couple miles from here. And most of them were petrified young and kids, girls and boys under age stated they have had found them at the middle of the running street..And called up 911, imediatelly.."
"We've responsed right into it, once Nick and I've gotten the call.." Ciccotelli had grumbled back as he rubbed his eyes and took a sip from his coffee, groaning as he tasted the heated drink. As Cat and Max turned around to look up at him. And boy, he did looked miserable as if he hadn't had any sleep from a couple days and neither did Romano had any of it.
"For?"
"A missing girl. Amber alert.."
"What about the woman?" Cat had followed up back from looking back at the two men."Care to give an description about the witness? The one who had been had the victim's side, I mean.."
"Red lips like roses, long black hair as ebony and white skin, just like the snow." Ciccotelli had replied which Cat had almost didn't take it seriously. When she raised an annoyed brow at the dark haired man's tired face and especially after he had run over the bathroom to throw his stomach out.
"I'm honest here! Look, we still need to figure out who is the witness, but without any identification, we can't come up to an conclusion but to call her another Jane Doe to the list and unresponsive, for now. Or we can better call her just as Snow White." Dante had followed back to Cat's intrigued expression."The witness is into a coma after doctors pulled poison out of her stomach. They're sending the toxicology tests to us once they have the results out." What? She had been poisoned? And there was definatelly no way that she would ever come out of her slumber, unless they were brain damages?
"But the victim?" Cat had questionned back bringing her attention back to the little girl and Romano stood up and walked up to the counter where the donuts box was at and made himself pour coffee once he had a plastic cup. He groaned up as he took a sip and clenched his eyes shut as he went onto the hard case.
"It was the five year old girl that Ciccotelli and I were working onto finding. Victoria Lambretti. She had been reported missing from her parents, for three months before until now.." Romano opened back his eyes and took a ice chocolate donut from the box that Cat had bought out for everybody today."Young and innocent and dark haired girl. Eyes had been thrown out from her, well orbits to specify. Her tongue was cut and multiple cuts were marked up onto her skin, not to mention struggle signs were marked onto her wrists and feet." Oh God. Cat looked horrified. No wonder Ciccotelli had rushed up onto the bathroom, before. It almost made her feel horrified and with the foetus that she was carrying now, it made her realize that way more worse threats were still out there. Not only beasts were horrifying out but humans were also bad as they were in public. Much like Peter Braxton had been, a year ago.
"No wonder I've had thrown up before. It almost make me regret on having kids in the first place." He ran a hand through his dark messed hair.
"Don't say that, man.." Nick had cursed back but his partner wasn't having any of it. He shook up his head as he slammed back down his desk work. Which it had made Cat jump when he unleashed his frustration out.
"What do you want me to say, then? That I had no idea that such predator like that ever existed? Whatever son of bitch is after, is gonna go after my kid? Or Lulu? The hell, I don't know!" Ciccotelli had angered stated back as Cat jumped back. Lulu was a nickname for Louise, Ciccotelli's wife who had worked up along with her friend Beth for the National News before she was found dead after her heart had been ripped out from Gabe. Which still gave Cat the shivers through her spine.
"Look, I get the way you feel and with Vicki being pregnant it almost gets me mad and truly mad, but you do know that if you let your feelings in the way-"Nick had tried to comfort back his partner until Cat tried to make things a bit better. Or what she thought it would be.
"I can help you out. Both of you, I mean.." Cat had tried to come up with with both men in the room looked back at her as if she had lost her mind. Includding Max, who looked up from a lost cause to her face as if she was joking around.
"Seriously, Cat? It's not your kind of thing to do here. So-"
"So what? You think that I cannot handle it?" Unless, they've heard that she was pregnant which it wasn't the case to theirs faces.
"Never said that. It's just not a pleasant thing to see. It was horrifying. No parent should overcome it. No one should and to see it." Ciccotelli had confessed as Cat had strongdly nodded back as she put a hand onto her still flat belly and away from everbody's notice. No parent should experience it and yet she felt like she needed to do something. And especially if it was a child who had been found as if she had been tortured with eyes and tongue taken out.
"Then, let me help. It's been a while since the precinct a been a little bit quiet here, maybe, Max and I would give you a little help here, right Max?" She got herself back, noticing that she wasn't alone onto this as Max blinked up as he hadn't noticed the fact that she hadn't let him down in a sec.
"Uh? Yeah. It'll help us out from the comfort zone, here and besides, Cat's husband is an ER doctor. I'm sure, he'll let us know from the news and coming up from the witness victim and who knows? He may have been one of the rushing doctors who've have had brought her in, right Cat?" The heck? Unless, they wanted to deal with the beast here, and the last thing that Cat wanted is to bring more trouble to Vincent by bringing more cops around the hospital, once again. Not to mention that the entire SWAT rescue team had tried to chase and had almost killed him once.
"Much as predicted if there are any changes. I'm sure there would be.." She answered back but wasn't as sure as she wanted to be. However, Ciccotelli didn't wanted to bring this up onto her shoulders when she should take a few things off like taking a little break, but she'll get tired from doing nothing the entire day even if the precinct had been quiet.
"You don't need to do that, Cat..I mean, to prove yourself after almost betraying everybody-"
"I don't. But I want to make up the amends that I wasn't able to do before when I was stuck back DHS against my own will. But this time, I'll do what I always wanted to do, to bring some justice to those whose mouths were shutted down.." And those whose voices had been shutted down too quickly. Vincent's had almost been shutted down as well from these years ago. She felt like she owned them in a way and especially when she had let down her precinct.
"Thanks, Cat.." Ciccotelli had followed back still feeling a little emmotional after the mess he had been witnessed which she found out to the sympathic. And with the baby she was carrying and almost held up the urge to put her hand over her flat belly.
"Don't thank me..I'm just glad to help you guys out.." Be a parent wasn't gonna be easy and especially if the child was gonna end up to be a beast or not. And yet, she was about to become and to feel a little bit emotional than she expected to be.
"Even if it's not with the team you and Tess used to be. Don't take any offense Max." The dark haired man leaned up to the front of his desk as he called out to the new guy here who waved off.
"Don't. I'm new here. I'll have to get used to it. Can't compete with a first female duo here.." Max had followed back when Cat just shook her head as she chuckled.
"Haha. Funny, very funny.." But honestly, she really wanted to help out here not only as a cop, but as a friend and maybe as a mother to be. But first, they needed to find ouut who was the witness who had been found with the victim. The Snow White girl. That Ciccotelli and Romano had been described the witness to be.
The Snow White aka Jane Doe case. Uh, what a funny name. Hopefully, she wasn't pregnant with a beast baby unless Prince Charming had been a beast. Cat just shook her head and asked Romano and Ciccotelli to fill up with anything that had to do with the missing girl, Victoria Lambretti. Amber Alert, little girl who had been been found dead, this morning.
What a way to become a parent!
...
"I've missed the times when you and I were working together, before..When you used to come and reached out for my help at the warehouse, before.."
"Yeah. I've missed these times whenever I had to sneak out to see you in secret..Ever wondering if J.T. would ever show up with a baseball bat or not.."Cat talked right back when she could hear her husband releasing a heartfelt chuckle."Yeah, they were the great times.."
"Yeah, they were. A secret love to cherish and it didn't mattered as much as I've wanted to stay away or pushed you to stay from me, I've kept showing up on your rooftop and you did the same as well.." Vincent declared back as he and she kept walking through the ICU hall.
"Or where, you used to show at my fire escape, each night." Cat had corrected him back with a pointed finger up to his face. "Despite, you being hunted. You still managed to show up at my window. Didn't mattered if you were dirty or not.." His eyes shifted back up to her direction once he had heard-how the the word dirty had sounded coming out from her mouth, almost as he looked amused by it.
"How much dirty, you specify by it? Exactly?" Cat laughed back as she walking back to the hospital walls along with Vincent as they were recalling back the memories when the two of them were hiding and seeing each other in secret before he was taken and changed everything later on when they were dealing with treason, hurt, anger and disappointment. However, it had made their love growning out more stronger than it used to be. And now with Murfield out of the picture, they could safely breathe and away from any danger now. Her as a homicide detective and with as a doctor into his blue scrubs as he was today. Even if they had a few nightmares to share from last year and mostly as much from Vincent from many years ago. They are together and without having the fear of ever looking over theirs shoulders.
"Let's be serious, for once here.." Cat had smirked out that 'dirty' thought as he had teasingly said by patting his strong back as a joke. Better leave the lame sex jokes away for a bit later."I did come up to you for helping me out through cases, in secret.." Cat had sobered back with a murmur as she put her hands her green leathered jacket."Only, this time. It's not. What I mean-it's not as.." Not a usual case she used to deal with. It was her first case to deal with a dead child.
"You okay?" Vincent turned back his head towards her when she just shook up her head as she urged him to keep walking. But stopped instead when he noticed she wasn't moving. He looked over her with concern. Oh God. What was wrong with her? Stupid hormones, once again!
"I'm fine. It's just not easy to dealt with.."And especially when it came to children crimes. It made Cat felt awfully horrible. No wonder, Ciccotelli felt sick and angry, very angry. Even as much as she felt now. Close to cry, to hear and see a little girl who had been inflicted with these horrifying treatements she had to endure for almost three months. Cat rubbed her eyes and took out a deep and shaking sigh as she felt Vincent's hand onto her back. Feeling his warmt over her distress. After all, they are about to become parents and the feeling of ever being worried for your child would simply never cease to go a harmeless and tiny girl from what she had seen from the printed missing pictures, it did make her stomach sick.
"You have any updates onto the woman, Snow White?" She spat this out as she watched his expression change back at her, as his eyebrows furrowed into wonder or more perplexed like. As if she had grown another head onto her shoulder. Crazy like, Cat had almost thought back out loud.
"Snow White?"
"A nickname for the woman, for now. Dark hair, red lips and white skin, you know." Cat had called as an excuse with a wave as much as Vincent had found the situation more weirder."The cops had found her lying right next to the kid. You got any news? Any ID? Did the hospital noticed anything, else about her?" It would have been better if they did by now but after watching her husband shaking his head, it was simply no use. None had known who the heck this woman was, at all.
"Other than she was poisoned and had shown struggling marks onto her wrists and ankles? Not so much. As for Lambretti, it was already too late." Vincent informed back with a defeated look, especially for the child. "Parents had been informed?"
"Not yet. Romano and Ciccotelli are into it.." Cat had informed him as both of them started to walk back through the hall. And parents who would be crashed to hear that their five year old daughter whom they've begged and prayed to comeback was dead. Dead in such terrible circumstances that no kid should ever go through."Tanaka, our lead pathologist will perform an autopsy into the coming days and would inform us about the toxicology results once it would be done."
"How long?"
"A couple days, or maybe a week. It could take even more time than I think.." She replied back with a sigh. Even if the new pathologist of the 125th precinct was a hard working asian female, nothing could ever replace the assurance of Evan's presence, when everything seemed to be so much easy when he didn't had his eyes looking around for answers ever since he had been kidnapped and witnessed his attacker's own death. When an enraged and transformed beast had killed him. By her own mistake, but Catherine needed Vincent's help to save Evan, however it had never meant to become like this. Both husband and wife had continued to chat up as they've reached up to Snow White's room where through the window glass, the young woman looked so small and frail as she laid onto the bed with all these wires hooked up onto her as the machines were holding up alive, artificially, literally speaking.
"Wanna come in?" Vincent's voice had shaken her up from the image as she looked back at him as he looked uncertain about her reaction. To which she finally shrugged off with her shoulders, for answer. He pushed the door open for her when she quietly walked inside the room with both her hands onto her jacket, as if she was shy to meet her when she took a good look at the young woman when she felt Vincent's footsteps walking behind her back. Snow White looked so young and pale as she laid down onto the bed with the respirator tube trapped down into her mouth, hooking down to help her for breathing as slow as her chest slowly rose up and down under the white hospital gown and sheet that covered up the rest of her body from waist to her feet. Her heartbeat was slow as the machine had shown up as much as the oxygen echoes were heard right next to Snow White's side. An IV was tied onto her right forearm as the medication was floating up through her body. Cat managed gulp back down her saliva as she stood up here in this room.
Ciccotelli was right. This woman could pass for a real living person of Snow White. Black and shining brushed long hair rested onto chest as much as her eyelashes were a thick black and long. Her lips were hidden from the tube, but the strickening white color her skin had was frightening to see. Scary. But beautiful as Cat could state.
Very beautiful. She was simply and strickening beautiful, even if she laid asleep here, right through her face.
"Was there a rape-kit done?" Cat had dared to ask when he rubbed his face, showning his discomfort. He blinked back before he slid his hands into his blue scrubbing pants when he felt her eyes looking back up at him.
"Varkis did a few tests right before, you and Max had walked in. She'd let me know if there were any sexual violation abuse as for the poison, the lead medical pathologist would send up the tests results to you or to Max or mostly the guy would dealt up with the case first." He admitted back before she looked back down at the laid maiden's silent sleeping form and shifted her eyes to her wrists which were both deadly plale through red and bluiesh and struggled marks. And through her wrists were a sign that she had been struggling and were a sign that she must have had fought before. Which meant that she must have fought until she collapsed. Maybe carrying up Victoria onto the light, for a little short of time. Cat blinked back at the thought. Who knows, maybe The Witch Queen had tried to kill her after her step-daughter had figured out Victoria's death and wanted to denounce or maybe to run away. Many questions were running her mind as she walked or more like stepped her feet back onto somebody. Oof.
Oof?
"Oof! Ouch! Cat!" Vincent yelped back in surprise as her eyes rose up widened up into shock as she whirled around to see that he stepped back from a feet from her, holding up his foot as she had walked into him.
"I'm so sorry! Did I walked up onto you?"
"You did!" He winced back, as he overdone through his voice's tone. He massaged his foot as he looked up to meet her glance."Good, you weren't wearing your heels as you used to, before."
"It would have been way much worse, if I had.." Cat had added back with a sigh as he snorted back at her annoyed face here before she turned back to look over Snow White. As dumb as it sounds, this unknown woman could pass for Snow White. Only, there wasn't any Prince Charming to coming with his horse and to step down onnto earth so he could kiss, the comatose young maiden here.
"Is she brain dead?" She had to ask the hard question as Vincent stepped onto her left side, his expression had gone sober.
"No." He simply answered back as Cat whirled around to look up at him, almost hopefull when his gaze stared back down to the young maiden, asleep. "Through the monitor machines, there is some brain activity here. Which is a good sign, despite the fact she is into a coma and from the way gastric lavage that had been a success, there is still no way how long she she would be stuck in here. How to know when she is gonna wake up? I don't knows.."
"Who did the procedure?"
"I did." He had replied to her question, which she had been astonished to hear as he watched her beautiful and perfect eyebrows hollowed together up into confusion. When he shrugged off at her reaction."Look, there was nobody else present than me here. And Heidari wasn't there to perform it, so I had no other choice but to perform it."
"Which it was a success. No?"
"It was, but as for the damages, I couldn't possibly say I do know what's gonna happen if she ever recovers or not." He turned back onto her as he sobered his features. "We don't know how long the poison had been there so that you guys could have had found out to where she and the girl had been found."
"Romano had said it was a couple hours. Or maybe an hour or so.."Cat had stated back as she watched the young maiden sleep as her chest slowly rose as much as the heart beating machine was heard through the oxygen echoes through the room. And how quiet, Snow White seemed to be in sleep. Shivering through her bone, she felt Vincent's arm that brought her close to him as she heard his steady heartbeat through his muscular chest.
"Are you sure, you're okay?" He seemed uncertain with the way he felt her tremble through his embrace.
"I don't know.."She simply shook back her head as he rubbed circles onto her back. Much as her eyes had never left the young dark haired woman's sleeping form."I want to catch the guy who had done this to her, here and maybe had tortured and killed Victoria and to know why he or she had had kidnapped her, for."
"But it seems like there's more onto it, here. Doesn't it?" Vincent felt that there was more to tell as Cat cleared up her throat and added up with a defeated sigh.
"Even with Murfield being gone for good and all threats are now erased. It makes me wonder to know why there are still bad guys out there and especially why Victoria or Snow White were the perfect vulnerable ones to get at? I just wonder, why is there still bad guys out to get the perfect prey, to get. Just why?" It was an hopeless question to ask even when she had known the answer to it. To which the both of them had known that there was no better answer. After all, they lived in a world of an endless madness, here. Where the human kind of once tried to conquer the world, mostly thinking they could change human nature as if they were God, themselves.
"I wish that I could answer to that.."
"Sometimes, I wonder too.." She brought up her hand onto her flat belly as she looked down onto it."If I'm ever gonna be strong enough to protect them each. Like I've almost failed to protect you, Vincent.." And who knows would come up to be their next target or worse, use their unborn baby as a bait to get to them. She would never let herself forgive that and neither Vincent would either. Their baby, at risk. Oh God. She thought that back as she felt her eyes watering up with unshed tears when she tried to blink them off.
"Hey, look up to me, for a second." She felt herself whirl around as she felt his fingers onto her shoulders."Look at me, Catherine." She looked back up to him as she meet his brown eyes, those whom she fell in love from the first day she had met him. Willed and strong brown eyes with full of compassion and with love.
"You never failed to protect me. Never. Even through the hard times we went through like last year."
"I tried to be there.." Cat had tried to admit even as Vincent had continued to assist to her defense.
"And you did..You did saved me, a longtime ago. Catherine." He sworned that point back. For almost ten years, he lived into the shadows. Completly lost until she had found him. She saved and loved him, and here they were together now. Without having the fear to look back, even if it meant to stick around NYC.
"I let a widow and daughter alone-" She stuttered back through her words as she was about to cry. How horrible, the two of them had felt when the irreparable had happened, but it wasn't Vincent's fault. Had he died and with her being charged, Peter Braxton would been still around to hurt the people they've loved and work with. And would have ran away like an invisible beast as if they've had joked back.
"It wasn't your fault. None of us were at. If Hill, had managed to wait up a bit longer until we had all the puzzle connected up. It wouldn't have had happened. You've said in the first place." She sure did. Nothing could have had stopped him from transforming and crossing the line which he still managed to comeback a bit later. But even a bit later was a little too much late. Which Cat had been feeling horrible from before and how much her eyes burned as they were about to cry but she blinked them back to hold them away.
"I wouldn't have never rested if he had killed you, in the first place for something you were framed onto. I'm not saying what you did was good. It wasn't, but you had to defend yourself from getting killed..And to know that our child would probably have to go through it-"
"It won't. He or she would never go through it. I swear it.." Vincent swore back to her when he leaned his forehead to touch hers as his hands cupped up her cheeks."Like you've said before, we've grown and more stronger than we used to be." He shutted his eyes for a second as she did too by clutching up to his blue shirt. To where she could feel his heart beating faster to her touch.
"I remember." She sniffed back through with a reassuring smile. She opened back her eyes up as she looked back at him and turned back to the young maiden who remained montioneless onto the bed, just like a doll would might have been."I just wish that I could do more for others who can't defend themselves, just like her." Like her. Poor Snow White.
"That's more like you. Like the woman I've married.." Her husband snorted back as she turned back to him to see him grinning to give her a little reassurance like she've always had managed before."Never turn back down a fight. Even if it means to our llittle girl, here.." He followed back as he laid his palm onto her flat belly here. It made the female detective do a weird face.
"It could be a boy, you know?" Cat raised up a eyebrow as a teasing matter as if she found herself grinning pushing all bad thoughts away for a second. But Vincent shook his head, being certain of his answer, sturbornly which it made her smile wider as the little wrinkle onto her nose formed up, which he did found it cute onto whenever she did smiled.
"We'll see till then. We still have some time ahead, before the big pludge is about to happen." Vincent let his hands travel down from her arms to her waist, slowly as he looked past at her shoulder looking over the sleeping woman."I'll make sure we'll monitor her more closely and give any updates onto her condition. Give her some time to wake up and we'll see if she remembers whatever she knows or not, till then." He adviced her to do as she looked down onto her feet and nodded.
Give her some time, maybe. But it was easy to say than to do or so. But Snow White was alive and still here, even if it means to be into a coma. Nobody could know for sure, if she has had any brain injuries or the fact they may have been too late to save her, but as Vincent had said; there's still some hope left to wish for. Just like she did give much hope to believe that they could have a future together. A lifetime together and with love without any danger coming up after them now. After all hardships they've been through, it was about time they get to have a little bit of peace here. Cat whirled her attention around to the woman as she almost to herself when the reply was meant for her husband.
"Yeah, you're right.."
"About?" Seriously? He wanted to have all the credits now? She turned back at him, feeling a little bit strange but hopefull.
"About-giving some time and I mean her, specifically. And hope, as well.."
"Of course. I've learned that from you.." He meant to say once again as a joke, but she had known that he was serious from the way his smile had warmed her heart, as it did gave her some comfort for her in return.
"You sure did.." Cat smiled back as her nose wrinkled, teasingly as she went and stole a peck or maybe two from Vincent as he responsed back, holding her into his arms as she surrounded her arms around his strong back.
"I love you.."
"I love you too.." He answered back, softly as his voice got huskier when he kissed her again, but with more passion than she expected him to do and to which it made her want to curl up her toes and him, grabbing her-Save the sex, for later! It was kinda of inappropriate movement to do here and right in front of a comatose woman, here! They could always catch things up for the night and maybe for the next, as long he doesn't leave alone at the morning. Even with a note.
"Alright. Alright. Stop, stop, be quiet, here." She pulled away from his lips leaving almost deceived as she turned back behind her back to see if anyone like aka Snow White here had noticed if they were about to make a move or not before she looked back at him, almost ashamed of their actions here. "Even if Snow White is into an endless slumber, she might can still hear us. And we need to still be careful and not too much disgusting for her. Do I have to remind you that you're still under surveillance?" She whispered back as his eyes had grown up huge here. But still a bit deceived that the kiss had been cut off.
"But we both gotten our names cleared. You and I from last year's own mess-" Vincent's face had transformed into a perplexed expression as he tried to defend himself when Cat wasn't having any of it. No. No. Not gonna happen here, at all. She pushed him off with her both palms up onto his chest.
"True, but you've said that there are few colleagues that still gave you the cold shoulder, here. Better not deceive them." Cat had reminded him as he rolled back his eyes, annoyed as he stepped back from her embrace. "You don't want to make you clean up the floor with a tootbrush and I mean, the entire hospital building, no?" She teasingly followed as he made a frowning face which she tried so hard to not laugh at. Oh God. Whenever Vincent made any weird or annoyed faces, he did looked funny to her. Always have.
"Funny. Very funny." He almost did spit it out from his mouth even if his face had made her smile and make her forget her melancholia for a second. Even if it meant to be only hormones. Oh Crap. These hormones she had thought back as her husband sighed up into defeat as he crossed his arms against his chest with his expression loosely became natural and before the cutting off and passionate kiss.
"But I was serious, when I said to give her a little bit of time. As long that her condition remains stable, she'll come out of it. Soon or later.." Vincent had followed back as she nodded back but not as she had much of a choice either way but to follow doctor's advice here as she turned around to see Snow White still sleeping here. As if the little incident between them hadn't mattered to her, at all.
"Yeah, I know you're right, here..Let's just hope she'd tell us, soon." Cat whispered back or more like she wished it could happen as she felt Vincent's strong and firm body getting up close to her side as she leaned her head onto his left shoulder as both of them were watching the young dark haired woman sleep here onto her bed. As long there's still hope, anything could happen. Just like it had happened for them. For the three of them, who come up soon into the picture.
...
A little bittersweet for a one-shot chap, but I felt like I needed to write it down, before it could go away. It wasn't as funny as I planned but still. A little glimpse through a book I've readen a month before and a little tiny chill over another series I've watched during lockdown, Tell me a story. Which ran for two seasons and from letting Cat giving up a little bit of a spolier to Tess revealing that she and Vincent were expecting a baby onto the rooftop, just like that moment back at season one.
However, the throwning up thing was funny for me to write.
And with VinCat reminding themselves from their first moments when Vincent first helped Cat with her cases. Which had been sweet to see despite the danger they had faced. And becoming parents even if they have absolutely no idea what the future holds out for them, but as long they are together, they can overcome everything. Thanks for your support, beasties! I love you.
See ya! And stay safe!
