After the battle where Ander lost all his family, he falls into depression. It seems there's a new threat entering the equation; something is coming for the last living Elessidil and this new threat will stop at nothing until Ander is either in their grasp for their pleasure or the young king to be no longer amongst the living. How far will Allanon go to protect the one he loves.

Astaroth is a demon who was trapped by the Ellcrys during the Age of Faerie. He, back then, worked to help trap the demons to save the land from destruction. Now that the Ellcrys' magic is failing he too has been released from the Forbidding and is still determined to keep his people confined to the Forbidding to save them, so he seeks the help of the help pf the druid Allanon.

Allanon had been correct when he told Pyria that they had no future together. That did not however erase their past. Some time after Allanon's disappearance and presumed death, Pyria fled the palace of Arborlon. She lived alone for nearly four years before her stomach began to swell. Five years after loosing Allanon she gave birth to a daughter. Half elven and half human druid.
