The Fury of the Night
Chapter 5. Night Game
David and the others shut off the bike's engines, letting them roll quietly down a slight paved slope. Raven could see the flames far down the beach and hear the yelling of the attendees of the beach party. She easily picked up the smell of beer and burnt hotdogs, of youthful vitality, male and female…and something else. One of the girls at the party was bleeding. Not a lot, her time had only started, but it soured her smell. If one believed the rumors about vampires and blood, one would think her cycle would enhance her desirability; Raven laughed to herself as that old myth popped into her head. It had quite the opposite effect actually; there was absolutely no appeal in blood that contained dead tissue, as a human female's monthly trial did. Blood for sustenance must be fresh and hot. And while the blood that flowed through the young girl's veins was indeed fresh, the sourness of the death she was expelling was foul and would make it unpleasant to be near her even just long enough to drink. It was true that if the situation were desperate, this finickiness wouldn't be an issue. A night creature would take what it could get until able to feed properly, but Raven's situation this night was far from desperate. Her nose wrinkled in answer to the odor on the wind, and David, who caught her expression along with her thoughts, put his hand briefly on her waist.
"Don't worry, little Bird, one of us will take her. Your first meal with us should be pleasurable." he said, chuckling in her ear. Raven laughed and looked up at him. He really was too handsome in the moonlight, she thought. Too handsome any time. And he was being so very kind to her.
"David, my Night King, you'll spoil me. I'll go bad, like a rotten apple if you continue to be so good to me." He grinned down at her, taking pleasure in hearing his name cross her lips and also the use of her new nickname for him.
"Hungry?" he asked. Vampires drank blood, but David and Raven were something beyond "vampire" and had unique habits.
She tilted her head, taking stock of her body's wants at the moment.
"A little thirsty is all. But if something tempts me, I don't usually resist."she smiled up at him.
He looked down at her as if she were a meal herself and smirked.
"Neither do I, Night Bird. Neither do I. Come on."
She laughed that tinkling windchime laugh that he loved and followed as he led her down the beach in the direction the boys had gone. They soon came upon a tall tree surrounded by a sad patch of sand grass and rocks; the tree dead and bare but still standing. Marko, Paul, and Dwayne were jostling each other and mock-wrestling at the tree's base, but ceased when David approached and respectfully backed up a few steps.
David leapt into the tree and climbed effortlessly to a bare limb near the top. Raven followed and stood on a limb on the opposite side of the trunk, hearing the boys scrambling up from below. They all squatted down on their perches so as not to be seen by the boozy partiers, though it really wasn't necessary. The group was well on their way to being inebriated, and it didn't really matter if they saw the danger in the tree or not. If perchance they did notice the four boys in biker clothing and the tiny woman in a black skirt perching in the tree, their fate would still remain the same. By the time they had sense enough to run, they would be dead.
The boys and Raven watched as a young man who seemed to be at the center of the group shrugged off the attentions of a young blonde girl and sauntered over to a huge cooler, taking out a beer as he threw the empty bottle he was holding out into the dunes. The girl was persistent, Raven thought, or perhaps she was lacking in self-esteem. The blonde approached the boy again and attempted to throw her arms around his middle, but he pushed her away roughly, causing her to land in the sand at his feet.
"I said leave me alone, you stupid bitch!" he yelled at her, as the girl scuttled backwards away from him, a frightened look on her face, as the boy who was easily over six feet tall and well-muscled moved to tower over her.
"You are the dumbest cunt I've ever met. And the lousiest lay. Your sister was a better fuck than you are." he snarled. The girl lowered her head and as her shoulders started to shake with tears. Another girl, the one whose "friend" had come early this month, sank to the sand beside her and put her arms around her as the bully stomped away.
"Hey, Jess, don't be such an ass. She'll take Charlene and Tammy and go home…then NONE of us'll get any." This coming from another boy, who approached the taller one.
"Shut the fuck up, Randy. Who wants any of those nasty ho's anyway? They've layed every fucking guy on the beach…twice even." Jess snorted as he took a huge swig of his beer.
"I'm just sayin'…" Randy began, but he was cut off as the bigger boy gave him a one-handed shove backwards. Jess didn't fall like the girl had, but he held up his hands in surrender.
"Whatever, man. Whatever. Like you're gonna find another piece on the beach tonight." And with that, the boy named Randy turned and walked back towards the fire to mingle with the others.
Raven's lips had involuntarily curled back over her teeth as she had watched the scene before them. She hated bullies. Especially when it was a male over female. Her head tilted back slightly as she took in the scent of each individual party goer, and David looked at her.
"Well, Gorgeous; which one do you want?" he asked with deeply-dimpled smile, as if he didn't already know, having caught her thoughts.
Raven looked over at him and gave him a devastatingly bright smile.
"I'll take the big one." She flashed her intent at him and he laughed deep in his chest as he caught her thoughts.
"The boys and I will be right here, Sweet Raven. Can't wait to see you in action." He gave her an evil grin and with that, she dropped soundlessly from the tree and disappeared behind the dunes.
David looked down at the boys and sent them a command to come further up the tree and observe.
"Don't worry, fellas. There'll be some leftover for all of us." he reassured them. "Just relax and watch the show."
Marko, Paul, and Dwayne trusted their leader and they each were indeed anxious to watch Raven. They had caught the sense from David that there would be something new worth seeing and it would be most evilly delightful. They perched on the limbs, eagerly waiting in anticipation.
Raven ran lightly along the downside of the dunes until she passed the party spot and stopped. She removed her boots and then took off the red velvet duster. She folded it and placed it atop her boots, taking care to not get sand on it. It was one of her favorite pieces of clothing and just because she had bottomless bank accounts at her disposal and could wrap herself in a different mink every day if she chose did not mean that she did not take care of her things carefully. Her travel clothing was simple, but she had worn the duster because of the comfort it gave her, having been a gift from a mortal she had once spent brief but unusually pleasant time with. She now stood under the moon wearing only the black lacy skirt that stopped above her knees and a black camisole with delicate beading along the neckline. She took in a deep breath full of moonlight and salt air and climbed the short dune, stepping down onto the beach on the other side with her sight set on the bonfire not far away.
Jess, the bully, had just turned away from the fire and at first his eyes didn't believe what he was seeing. He blinked hard, thinking briefly that one of the jerks behind him had slipped something in his beer, but then realized what he was seeing was real. A woman was sauntering towards him. An amazingly beautiful woman. No, beautiful didn't begin to describe her. Even thought it was dark, he knew this woman was on her own level. She put even his favorite movie actress to far shame. This woman was a goddess.
The boys were telepathically bickering over who would get which party guest to drink from, when they noticed David stiffen slightly. They raised their gaze from the drunken dancing and saw where he was looking and came to attention.
Raven felt the bully's mind go almost blank when he saw her and inwardly laughed. It was so easy; so simple; every single time. She pretended not to notice him and looked out across the ocean, lazily lifting one hand and running it through her long hair, seemingly trying to comb out tangles that didn't exist with her fingers. Then she looked up at the moon, as if overcome by it's beauty for a moment, pausing, twirling a little, side to side, then coming forward again, slowly. So slowly.
Jess felt himself growing a little dizzy and then realized he simply hadn't been breathing while he watched the young woman/? girl approach. He sucked in a ragged breath as he continued to take her in. She was walking alone, in the deep of the night, in one of the most dangerous cities in the country. Santa Carla had a reputation for "losing" people. Young people, old people. People. They just disappeared here at an alarming rate. And no one seemed to really pursue the matter. Oh, there were investigations that never seemed to lead anywhere and "missing" posters and hushed conversations behind closed doors, but people continued to go missing, vanishing into thin air, and the locals only made sure their doors were locked at night and the blinds pulled down snugly. As if those things would protect them somehow.
"She must not be from around here." Jess thought, smiling stupidly. "Else she wouldn't be out here by herself." And his mind began to think of how he could turn that to his advantage. Maybe offer her a ride home and "accidentally" end up on a lonely back lane. He was suddenly glad he had driven his brother's car; a bench seat in the front, you know. So he could get a hold on her fast in case she wasn't feeling the same vibes he was. A drunken grin came across his face then. And he was feeling all KINDS of vibes.
David snarled suddenly, startling the others, as he caught the thoughts of the mortal boy. He had a quick fierce urge to fly from the tree and throw himself upon the fool below, ripping out his throat before he could even form another stupid picture in his mind of how he was planning to defile Raven. He fought the urge to phase into his other form and was able to catch himself in time, his saving grace being the thought that it would so much more magnificent to see Raven do it herself. The other boys gripped the tree tightly, growing more tense as they caught their leader's rage and then calming slightly as he remained in human form.
Raven thought "It's time." and she made eye contact with the boy before her.
"Well, hi there…" she said, and the game began.
"Oh my God. Her voice is so sexy." Jess thought. "Like the rest of her." He couldn't stop his eyes from roaming over her body. Not only was her face devastatingly beautiful but her body looked to be perfect too. His eyes lingered over where her high round breasts pushed against the front of her top and how her skirt was snug against trim hips. Her skin was a little pale, but that was only further proof she wasn't a local, and he could see no imperfections. This girl didn't have one flaw anywhere; even her bare feet were perfect and he was going to have her; one way or another.
"Hey there. You out here all by yourself?" Jess asked, giving his best innocent smile.
"Yep. Just taking a little walk in the moonlight." Raven smiled back, trying to sound clueless. "You guys having a party?" she asked, flipping her long hair back from her shoulder. She grinned inside her head as the boy almost drooled at the sight of her neck exposed and watched as he lecherously lowered his gaze to her chest again before catching himself.
"Um, yeah. Just a little get-together. You really shouldn't be out here by yourself, ya know. It can be dangerous sometimes for little girls like you." Jess grinned.
"Oh, you look harmless enough. You'll protect me, won't you?" Raven said in her most innocent young girl voice.
"Of course I will! My name's Jess, by the way. What's your name?" he said, stepping close to her.
"Hi Jess. My name doesn't really matter, does it?" Raven smiled coyly up at him.
"Nope. Not at all." he said. "How about a beer, then I can drive you home if you want…if you live a ways away, that is." he added, trying to draw details from her of how far away from the beach he could actually get her.
"I wouldn't mind a beer; that sounds good. I'd love to spend a little time with you, Jess, before I go home."
He couldn't believe his luck. This gorgeous girl obviously had NO brains at all. He was going to be able to get alcohol in her AND get her alone, one way or another.
David laughed aloud in genuine delight at Raven's game. When Jess had tried to put an arm around her, she had danced a few feet away, pretending to move with the music that was coming from an old boom box. He had touched minds with her and knew she would not allow the would-be rapist to put hands on her. At all.
Jess briefly frowned as the girl escaped his grasp, but then smiled as he saw the other members of the party notice them approach the fire, and caught the way the guys were looking over the girl with him. He especially took delight in the way Randy's mouth literally fell open. The girls in the group had noted the newcomer as well and were instantly uneasy. She was beautiful; it was impossible to tell her age, but there seemed to be something definitely not "girlish" about her. Perhaps it was something in the way she carried herself; her confidence of her place in this group of strangers, as if this were her party and they were the ones in attendance. Maybe it was something in her eyes. Gray, they were, an unusual color, and there was something about the black of her pupils that just wasn't quite right, though they were unable to place exactly how.
"Great music, guys!" Raven exclaimed truthfully. A little classic rock rarely failed to make her smile and the song playing was one of her favorites. She began to dance, then, moving her hips in the most sinfully sensuous way Jess had ever seen, arms raised above her head. He dropped his beer bottle in the sand and started to move toward her. He couldn't wait to show off to the other guys and claim her in front of them. Couldn't wait to make that other slut that came with Charlene jealous. Couldn't wait to get his hands all over Raven's tight little body. At that moment, she called out to him from the spot she had danced to, a few feet away.
"How about that beer, Jess?" and gave him a seductive smile.
His name coming from her mouth made him snap out of his lecherous thoughts and he refocused.
"You got it, hot stuff." he snickered and walked around the blazing bonfire to the cooler.
David had been focused solely on Raven's body as she had begun to sway to the music; now his head snapped up and he stood, balancing on his perch.
"Now." he commanded, and dropped silently the 20 or more feet to the sand below. Dwayne, Paul and Marko followed, just as silently, and they followed as David began to slowly stroll towards the fire.
"Dude; who the fuck IS she?!" "Where did she COME from?!" The party boys immediately began to assault Jess with questions as he opened the cooler and pulled out a beer.
The girls huddled together and were asking the same things to each other, watching Raven dance alone in the light of the fire.
"I don't know who she is, and it doesn't fuckin' matter. In half an hour, she's gonna be suckin' my big fat dick." Jess said, looking lustfully across the fire at Raven. All the boys doubled over with laughter, a few spitting beer, as they too watched the lithe figure moving to the beat.
Raven surreptitiously looked to her right and saw the boys coming. David, of course, was in front by a ways. With his head lowered slightly and eyes locked on Jess, his black trenchcoat flaring out behind him as a gust of wind caught it, he looked like dark rage itself. The other boys were back a ways and looked just as dangerous.
"Hey Jess." Raven spoke out loudly, her voice carrying through the air sharply.
His surprised eyes met hers through the flames of the tall fire.
"Do you want me?" she asked, continuing to sinuously move her body to the music.
Jess was taken aback. He was not expecting it to be THIS easy. Quickly, he caught himself and tried to play it cool.
"You know I do, baby. You want me to come over there so you can feel for yourself?" he replied, lewdly grabbing his crotch, making the party boys laugh.
"You stay right there; I'm coming for you..." Raven called, smiling hugely.
Jess and some of the boys snickered amongst themselves, thinking this was turning into one hell of an unexpected surprise when a voice rang out in the night behind them, starling them all and making them jump and spin around.
"Well, well, well. What have we here?" David spoke, keeping his eyes on Jess the whole time, an amused smile on his curved lips.
Jess cleared his throat the sight of the of young man who had stopped in front of him and who stood casually with his hands folded in front of him.
Jess looked at the tall, bleach-blonde boy. He had seen him and his little gang of punks around the boardwalk before, sometimes with a girl, but definitely not the fine creature behind him. He had failed to notice before just how broad the blonde's shoulders really were, or how solid his chest looked…The tall blond seemed so exude confidence, but that didn't matter. The beer had made Jess confident he could take this goth wannabe if trouble arose, and if he couldn't his boys could
"Just a little private party." Jess said lowly, giving his most intimidating stare.
"We love parties, don't we boys?" David smirked, looking casually around as Marko, Paul, and Dwayne emerged from the dark.
Jess swallowed hard as he watched the other boys come alongside David and begin to fan out slowly around the fire. They had come from the darkness so silently and the way they were smiling was made small chills shoot up Jess's spine. Something was off here.
"Yeah; we LOVE parties…" Paul exclaimed, "Don't we, Marko?" He and Marko exchanged a laugh and then Marko replied, "Hell yeah! We LOVE a good party, don't we, Dwayne?" Dwayne then picked it up. "A good party is hard to pass up, huh David?"
David smiled and to Jess who was watching him intently, the smile made David look dangerous.
"Look guys, we don't want any trouble. We're just havin' a few beers and the girls are havin' a good time dancin'…" one of the other boys began, but he was cut off by Jess.
"Shut up, Rick. These assholes were just leavin', weren't ya, blondie?" Jess spat out with false bravado.
"Trouble? Oh, there won't be any trouble at all." David replied, his voice low and smooth like velvet. "I think I would like one dance before we go, though. One dance with her." He nodded his head towards where Raven was still moving to the beat of the music, seemingly in her own world. Raven tipped her head back to the night sky and smiled. This was so much fun. Plus David's low rich voice was making her shiver delightedly.
Jess's temper flashed hotly. There was no way this punk was gonna horn in on his action with the hot young girl on the other side of the fire.
"Fuck no. She's with me." he spat out, taking an unwise step towards David.
David took a step toward Jess as well, making the latter swallow hard. The other party boys were watching, wanting to step in and help Jess but somehow held in place by the blonde's friends who were know sidling closer to them. For some reason, they felt that if they made a move towards David, these wild looking young men would suddenly fall upon them. The girls were still clinging together trying to comprehend what was happening, shaking slightly. They cast looks back and forth between David, Jess, the other boys, and Raven.
"What's WRONG with her? What is she laughing at?" one of the girls asked the others as they watched Raven spinning and moving her hips to the music, laughing up into the darkness, seemingly oblivious to her surroundings.
"Why don't we let her decide?" David suddenly said, raising his eyebrows as he took another step toward Jess. "Whatever she says goes. Hmmm? What do ya say?" he smiled, shrugging slightly with his out, palms up.
There seemed to be something in the air that was making it hard to breathe; something heavy pressing in on him, and Jess suddenly had a very bad headache. He had began to sweat profusely and felt a little dizzy. All at once, he just wanted to be at home, in his room, away from this tall boy in leather, and he could care less about getting laid.
"Look, whatever." he said, shaking his head and turning back towards Raven. "Look, doll. I'm outta here, so make a decision. Me or him." nodding his head back at David, who stood smiling, perfect white teeth gleaming in the firelight.
A lilting musical voice rang through the night then.
"Oh, Jess…" Raven called out as she spun to stillness, then began to walk straight toward the raging fire. "Don't you know, it's you I came for."
Jess smiled hugely, thinking he had this thing won, when something in his brain whispered something wasn't right. She hadn't answered his question exactly right; she'd not said she wanted to be with him. She'd said it was him she'd come for. His mind would've dusted that simple thing under the rug, but she was walking straight at the fire, instead of swinging out around it's heat. "What the hell?" he thought. "She's going to burn herself." And her face…granted he was looking through the flames, but her face seemed to be changing. Jess heard a loud, low growl from behind him at that same time, and it was echoed from places out around the fire. "What the fuck? No dogs are supposed to be on the beach. Who the fuck brought their dog?"
The party girls had latched onto each other and stood to one side of the fire, while the boys seemed to be looking around wildly. The scent of fear and confusion rose in the night and to some, it was delicious.
Jess couldn't seem to look away from the girl; the heat from the flames was now blowing her glorious black hair back away from her face and raising it around her. The fire seemed to be snapping more and more and sparks were bursting out from it.
Raven looked through the flames at Jess, and she smiled lethally. Her fangs descended first, long and sharp and fatal. Her claws came next, natural nails pushing out, growing, becoming sharper than a sword's edge, and talons emerged from her inner wrists and the back of her ankles, shining ebony with wicked edges and points. Eyes turned crimson, and the pupils elongated, the firelight reflecting beautifully in them.
She sensed the boys, phasing, and heard their growls. The boys and girls were panicking now, looking for a place to run. The girl who Jess had knocked down earlier was crying.
"I don't understand what's happening." she kept whimpering.
Jess stepped backwards, forcefully stopping when his back came up against the rock of David's chest. He turned to look behind him and the face that looked back at him was not human. David in his true form was beyond terrifying. His forehead bulged out and his upper and lower fangs were on full display. But it was his eyes that were the most terrifying. There was nothing human left in the yellow spheres; nothing near human at all.
"Nice party, Jess. Enjoy." David hissed out, leaning close to Jess's face, causing the boy's bladder to let loose. Then David was gone, leaping into the air. Screams had started to rise along with the sound of terrified shrieks and scuffling as David's boys grabbed their own prisoners and began to shred flesh and to drink.
Raven's internal fire come out just then and she lifted herself up into the air slightly. There was a loud thunderclap and then the flames from her body drew back and curved themselves around her like a protective shell. They flowed over her flesh like molton liquid. Her eyes were nothing but black now, and there was no reflection in them. Her hair did not burn but tiny flames raced out along it's length, snapping out into the air when they reached the end. Her clothing remained intact, as her fire harmed nothing upon her body, making her display even more magical, because shouldn't fire burn?
"It's like a phoenix being born…"Marko thought briefly, watching Raven hovering in the middle of the flames.
"So beautiful…" Paul's mind sent out.
"I've never seen anything like it. How does she.."Dwayne began.
"It is what she is. A very small part of what she is. Attention now." David's thoughts snapped in their minds and they returned to the business or rather the game at hand, fangs flashing, blood spurting, wild howls and laughter ensuing.
Raven smiled as she took in the sounds of the carnage behind her, causing her to become so terrifying in visage that Jess dropped to his knees. His eyes were almost blank as his mind tried to protect him from a reality that could not be, yet was. She stepped from the midst of the bonfire, down onto the sand, her own fire remaining tight around her. She knelt slowly in front of the human who disgusted her so much and tilted her head in contemplation of him. His eyes were pulled into the blackness where hers should be. There was an absence there. Absence of light, absence of emotion, absence of anything he had ever known.
"Jess." She spoke, her voice clear and sharp. "Jess, Jess, Jess."
He fell back onto the sand then, his feet beginning to piston in front of him in a desperate attempt to get away from this smiling demon before him. Raven shot out an arm and let her hand melt its way into his lower leg before she yanked him back to where she knelt. He screamed in agony, clawing to get away. She knew his mind was breaking and she had to hurry. She needed him to be aware of his judgement before she sent him to hell.
"Jess." she hissed with venomous force. "Listen to what I say."
David had finished drinking and casually flung the body of the girl away from him. He called to his boys in his mind and directed their attention to Raven. The boys in turn threw motionless bodies down and moved to form a semicircle behind out around where Raven held Jess captive. David wanted them to see. Needed them to see to prepare them even a little for what things would come. The boys stood, breathing heavy in the thick night, firelight flashing off of fangs and shining in yellow dangerous eyes. David took a position on top of a small rock grouping; he knew what was coming but wanted an unobstructed view for himself.
Raven was unaware of how the boys and David had moved to watch. She was performing her duty now, and others had ceased to matter. Time itself stood still for her and for the human at her feet. Suddenly she rose in one smooth flowing movement, releasing her hold on Jess. The boy didn't even try to move. He could not even if he wanted for those black holes where her eyes used to be would not let him.
"Jess, of the mortal plane; you are an abuser of life; a defiler of innocents; a waste of existence, of breath, of being."
David watched in fascination. He had witnessed the execution of a soul before, but had never seen it carried out with such ferocity and sincerity, and never by such a fatally beautifiul being. His eyes could not leave her form which flowed with flame.
"I, Raven Nightwalker, in service of my oath to Abaddon, Ruler of the Abyss, sentence your soul to the pit for eternity upon eternity." And with that, she reached down and lifted the boy into the air. As her mouth opened wide, she snarled, and the last thing Jess saw was the crimson of his own blood spurting high. He felt her ripping into his throat and heard the tear of his flesh and crunch of his cartlidge as she sank her face deeply into his throat, and then there was blackness and falling and nothing.
Raven bit into his jugular vein and pulled almost all of his blood into herself at once. But she wanted more, and there was more to be had. With her claws she opened his chest and with the brief slash of a talon, slit his aorta. Blood still pressurized by the last beat of his heart burst up onto her face and she quickly lowered her head and drank more. His blood was still hot and heavy. He had been at the peak of his young life, and now all of that energy and strength was coming into her. Her body began to tremble as it assumed the surge of power and stored it rapidly away. Soon, she her blood thirst was sated, but the beast in her that had awakened wanted more, and she gave in to it's call.
The lost boys had watched in awe at the ritual they had witnessed, and reveled in it. David assured them that all of it would be explained at a later time, and for now they should begin to clean up after themselves. They nodded and turned from Raven, whose fire was beginning to draw back into her, and set themselves to their task.
David continued to watch her, seeing first her fire fade, and then her talons retract. He began to approach her slowly, the smell of blood heavy in the air. His own true form remained as he was still under the sway of the carnage, and he rumbled a small growl towards her.
Raven's head came up, and she acknowledged him with a growl of her own. She had taken a seat on the sand by the body, and as David got close, she extended an arm in invitation for him to sit as well. He did so, crossing his long legs before him, leaning back on his arms. There was a loud crack as Raven took one of the boy's legs and broke his femur with a flick of a delicate looking wrist. She broke the femur again in a higher spot and as David watched, she pulled the large bone free from it's tendons and flesh. Her eyes had changed back to crimson, David noted as she glanced briefly at his face. She was coming back into herself. Raven took the femur bone into her mouth and using jaws like those of a grizzly bear, she cracked off the end of it, spitting it to the side. She then put the broken end of the bone in her mouth and settling her fangs around it, began to suck at the marrow.
David felt a shiver go through him. Pleasure mixed with carnage mixed with lust all joined together and he wanted her. He wanted to take this otherworldly creature and clutch her to him. He wanted to make her his. He wanted her body joined with him in passion so strong it would halt the turn of the earth.
Raven looked up at David as she sucked the last of the marrow from the bone. He was even more attractive to her in his true form, though she was finding him devastating in either. She caught his emotions and teasingly reached out as if handing the bone to him. So quickly she didn't even see, his hand had shot out and grabbed her wrist and he yanked her to him, bringing her hard against his body. She reacted immediately, dropping the bone and clutching at him, claws sinking into his chest. They snarled at each other, predator to predator, and there was no submission in either, just that same wanting. His arms clutched her to him, his claws sinking into the flesh of her back. Their faces met, still snarling in passion, and fangs clashed against fangs, tongues thrusting, tasting of each other's kills, ravenous for each other. Raven encircled him with her arms beneath his coat and her claws sunk deeply into his back, making him thrust himself against her. He took her throat in his gloved hand, marveling at her beauty and deadliness, and slowly let sense retake him. Raven felt the gentle calming shift and willed control over her own body as well. They looked deeply into each other's eyes, knowing there would be a time in the near future when they wouldn't have to stop; when pleasure could reign, and both were content.
Raven suddenly retracted her fangs and licked David's cheek. He sat back in laughter, and his human face showed itself.
"Did you not get your fill?" he teasingly asked.
"My blood craving has been well satisfied, my Night King. And the unexpected opportunity to perform my official duty was doubly pleasurable. My journey here is turning out to be so very much more than I had expected." She said, leaning towards him flirtatiously . "And I seem to be developing a taste for something….new."
At that, she lept to her feet, reaching an arm back to him. He took her hand and sprang to his feet beside her.
"How did they take it?" she asked in a more serious tone, nodding her head towards where Marko, Paul, and Dwayne were hefting the last few bodies and taking them far out over the ocean to dispose of.
"They were…mesmerized." David spoke quietly. "I'm quite proud of them. They will have a million questions, but rest assured they will not trouble you with them until you are ready and we convene."
"Thank you, David. I truly will educate them to the best of my ability and look out for them as if they were my own." Raven spoke quietly.
"I am sure of it, my Beautiful Night Bird. Let me finish cleaning up our "picnic" and we will take you home." David smiled.
"Allow me to help, please." She moved without waiting for consent, taking stock of the beach, noting any bloody areas and kicking sand over them quickly. David put out the fire and together they searched for any errant pieces of flesh or tell-tale clothing remnants that might have been missed. Raven found an errant tennis shoe stained by blood and David tossed her a hunk of something that might have been part of an arm at one time. She caught it laughingly and shot into the sky, flying quickly out over the dark ocean and dropping the evidence in the same area where knew the boys had disposed of the majority of the mess. Flying back to the beach, she came down low and dove quickly beneath the icy surface. It refreshed her and she paused, treading water lightly, splashing water over her face and removing any trace of blood from it. She rinsed out her long hair as well, and when done with that, took a deep dive, touching the ocean bed briefly before righting herself and shooting up, up, into the night sky again. She shook herself in the air like a dog might shake to remove water from it's fur and flew on, touching lightly down in the sand where the boys waited. She noted they had cleaned their faces in the ocean water well enough to pass casual inspection.
Marko noted her wet clothing as she approached and raised an eyebrow.
