To The Treasure Hunter Named Locke Cole
Part 1
----------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------
Old man Nick looked up from the desk and saw a familiar face coming in. "You again?" He chuckled. "I thought you said you won't be back for two months, and it's only been ONE month!"
The young man only grinned and hurled his knapsack over the desk. "I guess I miscalculated."
Nick made a face and pushed the knapsack off the desk. "No luggage on the desk." He wriggled his nose upon seeing the dirty bag. "Can't tell where THAT has been."
"Such is the life of a treasure hunter!" The young man tilted his chin up proudly. "So, got a room for me, old man?"
"I prefer you call me Nick." The innkeeper of Jidoor said smugly. "And yes, I do have an extra room."
"Great." 250 GP was placed on the desk and the tired treasure hunter started to head for his room.
"Hey," Nick called to him. "...your name's Locke Cole right?"
"Yeah, why?"
Nick held out a small white envelope. "Got this for you. It came in just yesterday."
Surprised, Locke walked up again to the desk and took the envelope. "Thanks." On it bore the words TO THE TREASURE HUNTER NAMED LOCKE COLE in beautiful handwriting. There was no name nor a return address. He stared at it as he made his way to his room, trying to figure out who sent it.
"Maybe it's one of them.." He said to himself, thinking about his friends who, together with him, had saved the world from the hands of Kefka. Upon opening the envelope, he spied a single sheet of paper, and to his surprise it had a fragrant smell, much like a flower.
"I guess it's one of the girls." He unfolded the sheet and began to read...
Locke, I love you.
To say he was surprised was just an understatement. To say he was completely blown away by this simple sentence was even more of an undestatement. Locke stared dumbfounded at this mysterious letter. There was nothing else written on it, even as he searched. There was no clue as to who sent it, and the handwriting....
...the handwriting was familiar.
