(Hospital, sometime later)
The twins, stripped down from their charred clothes into hospital gowns and still unconscious, were lying in 2 pods with hoses connected to their mouths and noses. The pods began to fill with a light blue liquid which completely submerged them.
"Queen Vanellope your kids are in good hands. A couple hours in these pods and they'll be ready to move to a real bed" said a doctor
"What are these things?" Vanellope asked
"Bacta pods. Bacta is a medical liquid from the Star Wars games, can heal just about any injury and regrow skin. This is what's gonna save your kids, they're extremely lucky to be alive" said the doctor
"It's best to give them some privacy, they're not gonna wake for a while" said a nurse
"You're welcome to wait in the waiting room if you like. And before you go, we have some of your daughters jewelry, we couldn't save all of it, some of it had to be cut off or removed" said the doctor
He gave Vanellope a plastic ziploc bag with Lucy's favorite heart necklace, still in decent shape, and a burnt pearl necklace, which had turned yellow.
"Guess I have a shopping trip in my future" said Vanellope to herself sadly
She stuffed the necklaces in her pocket and went to the waiting room, where she started to cry.
"This is all my fault" Vanellope softly cried
"No it's not"
Vanellope looked straight ahead to see Honey in front of her.
"Yes it is Honey. You're right, I'm a bad mother. I haven't been there for my kids. I caused the rise of the Empire. Everything that's happened to Lucy is because of me. I knew all those bad things would happen but did nothing to stop them because I thought things would turn out differently" said Vanellope
"Ok there's that. But it's not too late to change. You can still be a good mom now" said Honey
"And how do you suppose I do that?" Vanellope asked
"For starters, you can be the first person your kids see when they wake up. Spend some time with them here, talk to them, make sure they're comfortable. And when they get out of here, do something fun with them" said Honey
"That might be a challenge with Lucy" said Vanellope
"I know you 2 are different but you should at least try bonding with her with things she likes" said Honey
"I guess I can do that. But one thing at a time" said Vanellope "thanks, I'll keep that in mind. If I need more advice I'll ask you. By the way, would you wear yellow pearls? Seems like you would. My daughters burned in the fire and turned yellow"
"No thanks, I like my pearls the way they are, clean and pure white. But I'm glad you're willing to change. I hope the twins turn out alright. And you know where to find me if you need me"
Honey gave Vanellope some flowers she wanted to give to the twins and then left. Vanellope waited by the twins bacta pods as they slept, thinking about how things were gonna change. Rancis and Ralph were cleaning up the castle wreckage and would join her a little later.
After an hour, Vanellope watched as Kevin's pod began to drain, and the doctors were able to put him in a bed comfortably. It was then that he started to wake up, and Vanellope was the first person he saw
"Mom, what happened? Where am I?" Kevin asked
"The hospital, bill saved your life when the castle exploded. You and Lucy are getting treated" said Vanellope
"I don't remember much, I just remember getting my tie tied for the meeting, then there was a big boom, and so much fire. And did you say bill saved us? But he hates us. He betrayed us to the empire" said Kevin
"That may be. But because of him you 2 didn't die" said Vanellope
In Lucy's pod, she began to struggle. She was dreaming, but she didn't look comfortable. Whatever she was dreaming wasn't good.
(Lucy's dream)
Lucy sat in a tree, eating some apples she stole. She was dreaming about the time she was on the run from the empire for a crime she didn't commit. The last thing she wanted was to be captured, for if they did, they'd hurt her.
Lucy stared up at the clouds, wishing she was home instead of hiding in a forest, but she had no choice. At least applejack's apple farm was easy to steal from, not like she'd notice a few apples gone here and there.
"I saw you at target practice last night, You were a disgrace!" A stern voice called out
Lucy panicked and almost dropped her apple, that was a stormtrooper. A pair of them were walking in the forest on another patrol for her. They didn't see her, but she couldn't stay where she was, she had to make her escape at just the right moment before they saw her.
"Sorry sir, was distracted, it's my daughter, she's in the hospital"
"You're a poor excuse for a soldier. A real trooper wouldn't let that get to them, especially why we're here. That princess is the reason she's in the hospital right? Blowing up that tv station. If we see her we fire, and you need to be ready"
"I will sir"
The 2 troopers heard a glitch and a thud, turning to see Lucy, who took a misstep out of the tree.
"It's her, blast her"
The 2 troopers opened fire as Lucy made her escape, unfortunately she was hit in the back by a blaster bolt, injuring her
"I got her? I got her! That's for my daughter you crazy girl!"
Lucy continued making her way through the forest, escaping the troopers, but ran into something more terrifying, something she didn't encounter during her time in the woods for real but was now, an AT-ST walker. The walker fired several grenades from its side gun which gave off electricity on impact, stunning Lucy. The walker fired it's blaster cannon, knocking her away, before finally crushing her under its foot.
(End dream)
Lucy's eyes bolted open as the bacta tank began draining. Vanellope opened the tank and embraced her daughter.
"It's ok sweetie you're ok, you're safe. You're safe" she reassured her
"Mom. Oh it's so good to see you. Where am I? What am I lying in?" Lucy asked
"Let's get you into bed and I'll explain the situation to you and Kevin" said Vanellope
