Lucy was carefully moved into a bed where Vanellope carefully tucked her in as Bill entered the room with flowers and cards for the twins. Bill explained to the twins what happened back at the castle.
"She said you needed to die for your crimes, and then detonated the magazine. I got lucky and got protected by the blast shield door, but the fire spread quickly. I found you in the conference room, screaming for help. I could've easily let you die and made my escape, but I couldn't stand to see you in so much pain, this was not the way you should've gone, not like that. So I used what strength I had and carried you both out" said Bill
"Of course it's a pony" said Kevin
"Sounds like Rocky's wife, wants revenge for me executing him. You remember what she looked like right bill?" Lucy asked
"Of course, I got a good look at her" said Bill
"Tell you what, if you can find and capture her for me, I will set you free" said Lucy
"Lucy, are you sure?" Kevin asked
"If he was willing to save us, then there's still good in him" said Lucy "Now go, use any of my droids if you have to"
Bill nodded before leaving.
"So how long do we have to stay here?" Kevin asked
"The doctors say a week at least. Your father and Ralph will be by to visit by the days end, they're scouring the wreckage for anything salvageable and getting Lucy new jewelry to replace most of it" said Vanellope
"Did my, you know what, survive?" Lucy asked
Vanellope pulled Lucy's precious necklace out of her pocket and put it around her neck, much to her delight.
"Your pearls are burnt, even the queen bee didn't want them. Guess she doesn't like everything yellow" said Vanellope
Kevin rolled his eyes at that comment, surprising for him to hear that.
"Being honest I'm not sure why you're obsessed with this thing" said Vanellope
"She likes looking pretty that's all" said Kevin
"Actually, there's another reason" said Lucy
"What reason?" Kevin asked
"Growing up, I would watch all these movies from the 2000's on tv, I always saw popular girls wearing this, or girls who wanted to fit in" said Lucy
"Sis most of those girls were mean people, you're not them" said Kevin
"Wearing this, well I just want to feel like I fit in somewhere. The whole game hated me at one point. I wanted to feel special. Sure this may not be the prettiest thing in the world anymore, I get called very 2000's and things like that, but I don't care, I think this is pretty. Miss honey thinks so, she wears one too, she couldn't stop looking at it when she got hers" said Lucy
"Miss honey does that with everything new she gets, dad says when he got her her first purse she didn't want to take that off either" said Kevin
"Well with or without this, you'll always be pretty to me" said Vanellope
She then kissed Lucy on the forehead which made her smile. Just then, a couple droids came in, rolling a fold up bed, setting it up in a corner of the room, much to the doctors annoyance.
"What is that thing?" A nurse asked
"My temporary bed. I'm not leaving this hospital til my kids are better" said Vanellope
"This isn't a hotel you know" said a doctor
"I'm the queen, I can do what I want. And this isn't taking any room away from other patients. Plus I help keep this place running so let me have this. Or I could tell the rest of the staff instead of you 2 working at the free clinic on weekends you're busy playing golf at the country club" said Vanellope
"That can't be proven" the nurse defended
"Fine, you win" said the doctor
Over the next few days, when the twins weren't being visited by friends or other family members, Vanellope stayed by their side, talking to them, getting to know more about them, and doing many things with them. She watched things they liked watching, played board games and with toys they liked, colored coloring books, it was nice seeing the twins happy they were getting to do kid things with their mom. She even agreed to have a spa day with them once they got out, albeit reluctantly
"Come on mom, there's nothing wrong with pampering yourself. Rainbow dash does it, and she told the city Kevin does it" said Lucy
"Wasn't thrilled she told everyone that but I don't care anymore" said Kevin
"And it'll be in private, my droids are experts" said Lucy
"Well, ok, if it's that good I guess. Wouldn't hurt letting my inner girl out when not with the princesses at Disney" said Vanellope
During the time in the hospital, Vanellope even schooled them herself. She believed that kids like them should be more prepared for what's out in the internet rather than what twilight taught them about math and English. She even learned some things from Lucy about the empire.
"A Moff is a sector governor, meaning they control a planet and the space around it. Moff Raythe for example controls Equestria with me and twilight. A Grand Moff is a governor of a large sector of space including multiple planets. Mr Williams in that regard is in charge of all the planets and the moffs who rule them" said Lucy
"So that's why he's in charge and why he was so important to capture on equestria" said Vanellope
"Yep. He's an emperor in all but name here" said Lucy
After 2 weeks of different healing sessions, the twins were finally able to leave the hospital. Vanellope packed their things and drove them home, where Lucy's castle was completely rebuilt. All their friends and family were waiting for them with a welcome home party in the dining room of Lucy 2.
"Welcome home kids" said Rancis
"I'm so glad you're alright" said twilight
"Gonna take more than a bomb to kill you" said Ralph
The kids went to take their seats to eat while Rancis pulled Vanellope away
"So, did you get the quality time you wanted with them?" He asked
"Sure did. But that's just the beginning. I have more bonding to do with them starting tomorrow" said Vanellope
