It had been a couple of weeks since the destruction of Lucy 2 and the kids got in the hospital. But now things were seemingly going back to normal, minus an invasion by a marvel villain somewhat recently but that was over now. Vanellope was now getting ready to spend some family time with her kids in space, a nice lunch to start off with and some stargazing
"Nelly it's nice you're taking some time off racing" said Rancis
"Now are you sure you want to take the space elevator? We have ships that can take us to Lucy's castle" said Ralph
"I hear the elevator is faster, plus I've never actually seen the space station in person. Lucy already has droids waiting for us when we arrive" said Vanellope
The 3 finished getting ready and went to the space elevator, located not too far from the castle. It had several large tubes stretching into the sky. They were made for people to get to space but didn't want to fly. Upon boarding, the 3 went up to their destination, outpost litwak, a bustling space station where people from all over the galaxy did trading and business.
"Wow this things fast, but I barely feel like we're moving" said Ralph
"You know I've never been to this station" said Vanellope
"It can get intense sometimes. The droids and stormtroopers do constant patrols against smugglers and pirates. Stay away from Lucy's droidekas" said Rancis
"Wait, what's a droideka?" Ralph
Rancis didn't answer as the group made it into space and the station came into view. It was a large round station with 2 decommissioned Star destroyers docked, 1 belonging to honey. Other ships flew around or were docked to the station.
"Now arriving at outpost litwak. Please gather all personal belongings before exiting, and enjoy your stay" the elevator told them
The group exited the elevator and saw a firefight happening between droids and some aliens. A couple brown droids rolled quickly towards the aliens and uncurled into some kind of strange looking robot. They activated shields over their bodies and rapid fired their blasters at the aliens.
"That's a droideka" said Rancis
The droidekas made quick work of the aliens while the rest of the droids beat up and subdued the aliens. Another droid went to greet them and escort them to a ship to take them to Lucy's castle.
"What was that about?" Vanellope asked
"Smugglers, tried getting some weapons past customs unregistered"
Vanellope was in awe at the station. Of course droids and stormtroopers patrolled the area, but there were shops, restaurants, and flights going out to the galaxy, it was almost like an airport.
"Queen Lucy is glad to have her entire family available for lunch. Her chefs are preparing a delicious meal as we speak, with all your favorite foods, and her favorite meals"
"Let me guess, spicy burger with chili fries?" Vanellope asked
"That's her favorite casual meal, but that's not what she requested for herself"
"Then I don't get it, what is she-
"You'll see. After lunch you will all enjoy a spacewalk around the castle"
Vanellope felt a little nervous hearing that, she'd never been on a spacewalk, but she knew it was risky. After another short flight the 3 found themselves on Lucy 1, where Kevin and Lucy were waiting in the dining room, finishing a meeting with their teacher twilight and imperial Moff Raythe.
"Meeting adjourned, I find these terms acceptable for now" said Raythe
The 2 left as the family approached their kids, where they were greeted by hugs.
"So glad you could make it mom. Especially with all the racing you do" said Kevin
"Well I thought it'd be nice to take a break for a while. And I'd never turn down a nice lunch" said Vanellope
"Boy do I never tire of this view" said Ralph
The dining room table sat next to a large window which showed the planet below, it was a beautiful sight.
"One of the reasons I like being up here. I feel more at home in the stars than on earth, dad gets what I'm saying" said Lucy
Vanellope looked at Rancis
"I'll explain later" said Rancis
"Please, sit, lunch is served" said Kevin
Several droids came in from the kitchen and wheeled out plate after plate of food. Burgers, chicken, soda and treats. Lucy's food seemed different though. Her lunch consisted of Japanese and Chinese food, rice, chicken and beef, some seafood and dumplings, noodles, etc.
"Enjoy" said the droids
"Lucy, your favorite meal is this?" Vanellope asked confused
"Indeed. I'm a girl of culture. I not only show interest in other cultures, I'm an enthusiast in food. I love burgers sure but when in the privacy of my castle, I enjoy food like this. Japanese and Chinese are my favorite most of all" said Lucy "Grandpa knows, we go out for noodles on occasion"
"It's true, at least once a month" said Ralph
"Well that I knew. But how come I didn't know? You never really mentioned this interest" said Vanellope
Lucy drank some soda then wiped her mouth.
"It's not something I can exactly share with my classmates or anyone, they don't get it. My best friend Mocho doesn't even like Japanese food. I don't exactly have anyone to share this interest with, except Kevin on occasion" said Lucy
"It's true" said Kevin as he grabbed an egg roll
"Well there's nothing to be ashamed of liking different foods" said Vanellope
"I know. But it's not something I can share with many people" said Lucy
"I'll try some of your food if that's ok" said Ralph
"So will I" said Rancis
"Heck, why not, when in rome I hear people say" said Vanellope
Everyone tried some of Lucy's food, much to her enjoyment.
"What you're eating is only made with the freshest ingredients from around the galaxy. The freshest veggies from equestria, the freshest seafood from Aquis, farm raised chickens and cows from the smorelines farm, all expertly prepared by my chefs. I only want the best ingredients" said Lucy
"I must say it's better than I thought it'd be" said Vanellope
"Yeah, something to try more" said Ralph
"Must be nice having a castle of your own with your own servants and having what you want when you want" said Kevin with a little sadness in his voice
"Kevin, what's wrong?" Vanellope asked
"He wants his own castle. The problem is he doesn't know where to put one" said Lucy
"I know I have my arcade and private house there, but I want a real castle of my own. A place I can do what I want with my friends. A nice one, not one that looks like a Disney ride" said Kevin
"You can call it a Disney ride, I think of it as a sign of hope for the future" said Lucy
"Keep telling yourself that sis" said Kevin as he took a bite of a chicken tender
"You know son, if you want a castle, all you had to do was ask. I can help you" said Vanellope
"Really mom?" Kevin asked hopefully
"Absolutely. I'll find the perfect spot" said Vanellope
That made Kevin really happy. After an hour of eating, the family went to get space suits on for a space walk. Vanellope was nervous, but was comforted by Lucy.
"You're absolutely safe. These suits have several hours of air, and these cables are strong enough to pull one of my ships. You also have magnetic feet, and in the event you do drift, your suit will send a signal to the bridge, rocket droids will bring you back here in no time" said Lucy
This gave Vanellope confidence. After their helmets were locked and their suits checked, the droids led them out the airlock and into space. Ralph thought it was so cool while Rancis saw it as normal, having spent years going in space as a pilot. Vanellope was careful at first, but found herself enjoying the views. She enjoyed stargazing and watching the passing ships, but she noticed Lucy seemed to stray away after a while. Lucky for her, she saw her lying on the top of the station, she looked happy
"I love it here. I feel at home in space" said Lucy "I love the stars"
"It is nice, yes, but nothing will beat the city. After all that's our home too" said Vanellope
Lucy looked a little sad hearing that. Vanellope looked concerned
"Mom, can I tell you a secret? Something I've never told anyone, not even Kevin" said Lucy
"You can tell me anything" said Vanellope
Lucy looked down.
"I don't like living in the city that much. There, I said it. I know it's home and it's where I grew up, but it's always been cruel to me, even as a baby. And it didn't exactly do me any favors when I was overthrown" said Lucy
Vanellope put her hand on her shoulder.
"I know how you feel. I once felt the same way about sugar rush. But I can't go home there anymore, it's gone. Sure we have a sugar rush world on earth but it's not the same" said Vanellope
"I created this galaxy simply because I thought I could prove I wasn't evil to everyone. Then the wars happened. Even with all that over I'm still proving myself. I love being in the stars, gives me hope. This castle, everyone sees it as a knockoff space mountain, but I see it as a shining beacon of hope for the future. A symbol of bringing peace and order" said Lucy
"You always did like looking at this building on our family trips to Disney" said Vanellope "Even as a baby"
"Seeing this building gives me hope for the future. I hope one day everyone sees me as a great queen" said Lucy
"You don't have to prove anything to me. You're already a great queen, even if those stupid colored horses don't see it. I know you love them even after all they did to you. Look Lucy, don't take your home for granted. I know the city isn't always kind, but it's still your home, and you still have friends who love you for who you are" said Vanellope "And those who judge you, they don't know how wrong they are about you. You're my perfect little queen of the stars, just the way you are"
Lucy smiled hearing her mom call her queen of the stars, it was an unofficial nickname she had sure but it was one she cherished. The 2 lied back and continued looking at the stars, Lucy nestling close to Vanellope. This made her happy.
