Caesar coughed while trying to keep the thermometer under his tongue. Beverly pulled it out of his mouth when it beeped.

"Yup, you have a fever." She said reading the temperature. "100.9"

"That has to be wrong." Caesar said struggling to get up from the bed. "I never get sick."

"Well, you're sick now." Beverly insisted. She gently pushed him back down. "You need to rest." She handed him a couple of pills and a glass of water. Caesar took them.

"There's no time. I need to finish the de-atomizer by this afternoon. Then I have to start working on the vacuum cooling tank for the…" Caesar was interrupted by a fit of coughing.

"Yeah, don't worry about that." Beverly gave him a kiss on top of his head. I'll take care of everything."

"But you don't know how the gear coupling works." Caesar protested. "And where the manual shift resistors are located."

"I'll figure it out." Beverly crossed her arms. "Or is it because you don't trust me?"

"Well of course…" He stopped when her eyes narrowed daring him to say it. Even though his brain was feeling fuzzy he knew better. "You can figure it out."

Beverly smiled. "I've been watching you. I can get the doohickey to work by this afternoon. You relax and let me take care of everything."

"Sure." Caesar mumbled.

"Do you want anything before I go?" She asked.

"My lab." He answered.

Beverly laughed before leaving.

"I was serious." He said to the empty room.

Caesar walked into his workshop. He stopped and gawked at the sight.

"What happened?" He looked around incredulously.

"Oh, Caesar." Beverly said cheerfully. "I had a hard time finding the coupling sleeve so I decided to just take apart the whole thing and rework it as a soda machine."

"What?" He squeaked.

"You don't mind, right?" Beverly asked with a bright smile.

"I… I… I…" Caesar stammered.

"And I also added flowers and wallpaper to add a little home-y feel to your lab." She added.

Caesar eyed the puppy wall paper. "I'm speechless."

"I can see. Now help me take the moose for a walk." She handed him a leash. Caesar's eyes followed the leash to a large brown moose with huge antlers. The moose charged him.

"Aii-yee!" Caesar sat up on his bed. "Oh it was just a dream." He sighed with relief. Looking up, a moose was staring at him. He gasped and pushed him as far back against the headboard as he could go.

"Oh hey, bro. Sorry about the moose head. Bobo went to a garage sale and bought this thing for our room. I'm getting rid of it before he gets back. But Beverly asked me to check on you." Rex put the head down. "So how you feeling?"

"I don't know." Caesar rubbed his face.

Rex looked at him with concern. "You don't look so good. You want me to go get Doc? I'm sure she can give you something."

"I'm fine." Caesar said trying to think quickly. "In fact, I feel so much better that I think I'll go for a walk."

Rex frowned. "I'm not sure that's a good idea. You're looking pretty pale."

"That's why I need to walk... to get some color." Caesar pulled the covers back.

"Stay in bed, bro. Take a day off." Rex easily pushed him back down.

"Do you think Einstein takes days off?" Caesar protested.

"I'm sure he did if he's sick." Rex said.

"I'm not sick." Caesar went into a coughing fit.

"Right, you're the picture of health." Rex said sarcastically.

"Just some… excess phlegm." Caesar waved off his concern. "I'm perfectly able to go down to my lab…"

"I'm sure Beverly has everything taken care of." Rex said.

"That's what I'm afraid of." Caesar muttered.

"What?" Rex asked startled.

"Nothing. You know what, mijo? You're right. I do need to rest." Caesar said suddenly.

"No, don't argue with me, you need to re… what did you say?" Rex paused.

"I do need some rest, so if you'll excuse me, I'll just lie down here and if you can get the lights on your way out…" Caesar said.

"Oh sure thing, bro." Rex picked up the moose head and walked to the door. He shut off the lights. "Good night, or afternoon, or whatever. Sleep tight." Then he was gone. Caesar waited a full two minutes before jumping out of bed.

After getting dressed he opened his doors a crack. Sticking his head out to make sure the coast was clear, he snuck out into the hall. As he tried to stealthily get to his lab, he sneezed into his hands. Realizing he had no tissue to clean them off, he looked around. Glancing around to make sure no one was looking he scraped his hands across the edge of the wall. Finally, he made it to his workshop. He heard banging, ripping, and drilling. Fearing the worst, he burst in only to see Beverly closing the lid of his machine. She looked at him in surprise.

"What are you doing here?" She asked.

"I, uh, I…" Then without further words he went straight to the machine and opened the lid. Beverly stepped back and crossed her arms.

"You fixed the destabilizer." He said shocked.

"Mmm-hmm."

"And all the wiring has been color coded."

"Yup."

"Is the power core…"

"Hooked up to the molecular coil? Yes."

Caesar slammed the hood down. "I guess it's done."

"Why? Did you think it wouldn't be?" She asked with a smirk.

Caesar sheepishly rubbed the back of his head. "Well, to be honest…"

"I know these are your babies but come on, give me some credit. I have been watching you." She walked up to him hands on her hips.

"I'm sorry, bonita." Caesar said penitently. "I'm not use to having help with my work. But I'm glad I have you."

"Hmph, I think you owe me a dinner after you're better." Beverly said slyly.

"I think I can do you one better." Caesar smiled as he wrapped his arms around her. "How about rebuilding an old car?"

Beverly's eyes lit up. "Now you're talking."

He bent down to kiss her but she stopped him with her finger.

"How about you get better first? I don't want to get sick." She said.

"Oh yes, sorry." He said.

"Now get back to bed." She ordered. She led him back to his room and tucked him in.

"Now I'm going to go finish your other project. Stay in bed and get better."

"Si, senorita." He smiled and closed his eyes.

"You know at the rate I'm going, I'll have time to redecorate your lab. I was thinking flowers and a new wallpaper." She went out and the door closed.

Caesar closed his eyes before they snapped open again. "Flowers? Wallpaper?"

Happy Birthday KakaAnko! Hope you have a great day!
