A new luxury coach named the Arlesdale Belle, or Bella for short, arrives on the Arlesdale Railway. She quickly gets on the nerves of the engines, and ends up getting assigned to Mike on her first public passenger train.

After the events of "Journey Beyond Sodor", James feels he is responsible for the near-death of one of his best friends and fears that his boasting and teasing has gone too far. Can Thomas convince him otherwise and show him that their friendship is all that matters?
