Disclaimer is on chapter 1
After doing nothing but helping out other authors or just plain old lounging around playing Destiny, God Eater Burst etc, etc, I have finally decided to throw the dust & writer's block off myself & get some fics updated before the year is out. Apologies however as, from lack of proper writing, these updates may be shorter &/or rushed than the story's usual quota.

Finally away from the aft of the ship, hopefully unnoticed by his stalker, Alastor breathed a quiet sigh of relief. The last thing he wanted right now was to bring attention to himself- or rather more attention to himself after the battle against the goons on the pier.
He was no famous person or anything but, constantly being in the Top 4 or higher for the past few Pokemon League's he had participated in had earned him some unwanted popularity. He did not mind his hometown treating him like a celebrity although that was mostly because he had not visited Accumula Town since leaving for Hoenn seven years ago mostly speaking to his family via vid-phone until he returned after winning the Orange League last year.
Now that he had gotten away from both his stalker and her perverted opponent, all Alastor wanted to do was find his room, have a well earned nap and hope that, whoever his roommates were for this leg of the journey, they at least tried not to disturb him until they reached their destination.
Unfortunately, his preferred, ideal evening was dashed the moment a familiar purple haired Trainer suddenly appeared before him panting for breath. Clearly, the girl had ran ahead to cut him off although why she was fixated on battling him was beyond Alastor's speculative beliefs.
"You weren't trying to run away from our deal, were you?" Yulie taunted him after she caught her breath.
"Firstly, it's kind of hard to run away when you're on a boat." Alastor pointed out ignoring the urge to roll his eyes. "Secondly, we never had a deal. Sid just used me to get you battle him thinking you were an easy target."
"So?" Yulie replied defiantly.
True, she was feeling a touch embarrassed about falling for the pervert's ploy but, in the long run, it had worked out in her favor: She had learned a valuable lesson and won a free battle pass to go against the blue haired Trainer before her.
"The important thing is: I won that battle. Which means I can battle you whether you like it or not." Yulie finished prodding Alastor in the chest.
That turned out to be a wrong move as, without warning, a supple vine sprouted from Alastor's gilet and slapped her finger causing Yulie to jump back in surprise as she nursed her stinging appendage.
(Back off, Bowl-cut!) Snivy snapped jumping out of the hood of Alastor's gilet to land on her Trainer's shoulder vine poised to strike again shoulder the offender get within range.
The next second, Snivy, along with Alastor found themselves dodging a plume of flame as Jin made his presence known along with his distaste of how the two were disrespecting his Trainer.
(Why don't you back off, Smugleaf!) Jin growled flames still spewing from his mouth as he barked at the tiny grass snake as she landed on the deck floor.
(Make me!) Snivy challenged sticking her tongue out at the Growlithe causing the puppy pokemon to see red.
Stomping his feet as if having a temper tantrum, flames gradually began to lick at Jin's fur until he was literally a walking fireball. Once fully aflame, the Growlithe shot towards Snivy who stood her ground until the last second before jumping up and over the runaway fireball to land on her feet while Jin, unable to stop himself, skidded and crashed into the wall at the far end of the deck with a hollow clang.
"Jin!" Yulie called out worriedly as she raced to her dazed pokemon's side.
(Pheh! All bark and no brain!) Snivy mocked scratching the tip of her nose with a vine before scurrying up her Trainer's leg towards her usual resting place in the hood of his gilet.
For his part, Alastor shook his head at the spectacle he had just witnessed and at the immaturity of his pokemon before walking off not caring if it created bad blood between him and the girl.
Too worried about her pokemon, Yulie did not notice or care about Alastor's departure although she made a mental note to make sure Jin stayed in check before he did something like this again especially while they were on a boat. Had this been the top deck and nearer the rails, Jin might have been having a much needed but very unwanted bath.
One thing was sure. She was going to get her battle against Alastor before the trip to Vellgander ended.

The crowd was going wild as they watched Caesar's Charizard square off against Kara's Ursaring. The moment the two pokemon made eye contact, the two began duking it out before either Trainer could order an attack and it looked like they would not hear them whether it was an order to attack or to heel as they went at it with claws and fangs bared.
Right now, the two pokemon were trading Dragon Claw and Shadow Claw respectively ignoring all injuries and fatigue sustained through the course of their battle with neither looking to be backing down or giving up any time soon.
(Ha! So you are more than just an oversized stuffed animal like all the rest!) Charizard snorted as the two pokemon separated after their latest blow trade off.
(Same can be said of you. I thought you were just another wind bag blowing hot air!) Ursaring scoffed.
(You wanna say that again to my face?!) Both alpha male pokemon snarled furiously their tempers ignited once again as they glared daggers at one another.
"Hey, big guy! Save some of that fire for the tournament, you hear?!" Caesar called out to his Charizard sounding both cheerful and serious about how this battle was going.
"Ursaring! You should know better than to lose yourself in battle!" Kara scolded her pokemon angry both at her pokemon and at Caesar for how the Trainer was not taking the situation seriously. Did he not realise that, should their pokemon keep going like they were, they were likely to injure the audience as well as themselves?
Unfortunately, neither pokemon obeyed their Trainer's order to stand down instead opting to unleash their most powerful moves respectively which happened to be the same move.
(Eat Hyper Beam!) The two pokemon shouted each unleashing a beam of deadly purple light at one another resulting in a spectacular explosion that rocked the entire boat from stem to stern.
Surprisingly, despite being knocked off their feet from the blast, the spectators quickly clamored to their feet again in anticipation for whatever happened next not caring if anything or nothing could top that last spectacle.
Sure enough, as the smoke lessened and the field could once again be seen, both Charizard and Ursaring could be seen still on their feet but looking to topple over at any given moment. Despite that, the two still managed to glare daggers at one another clearly trying not to collapse until the other did first.
(Give up...fuzz face!) Charizard panted.
(Speak for...yourself...wind bag!) Ursaring grunted back.
It was clear, even with all they had gave and taken throughout their battle, neither were going to back down nor fall down if they could help it. With no end in clear sight despite the obvious, it was Zai who finally stepped out between the two pokemon. As a pokemon researcher he knew when a battle no longer became a battle but just a torture spectacle.
"That's it! I'm calling it a draw!" He called out loud enough for both spectators, Trainers and pokemon.
To make sure the two battle Trainers or their pokemon tried to protest against him, Zai let out his Blastoise, a towering turtle that was just as tall as he was and looked twice as intimidating with its cannons out.
Not wanting to see how the researcher or his pokemon would react should they try to continue, both Caesar and Kara agreed to stand down while Charizard and Ursaring merely fell down unable to stay upright any longer and promptly passed out before they could throw another insult at one another.
"Wow. They really went all out, didn't they?" Caesar whistled in astonishment having never seen his pokemon look so content outside of a gym or League battle.
"Perhaps. Too bad you can't really control him." Kara commented as she recalled her Ursaring.
"I'm guessing you've never heard of the 'pot calling the kettle black' have you." Caesar commented good naturedly recalling his Charizard so that it could have a nice long rest. "Admit it, you're happy your pokemon found a worthy opponent also."
Kara did not bother answering instead walking off in search of her room and an old friend she had not seen since Sinnoh. Secretly, she was really happy to see her pokemon fully interested in a battle for the first time in a long time and she had to admit, that dreadlocked Trainer had more than just looks going for him than she first thought.
Unperturbed by her lack of a response from his prodding, Caesar just grinned as cheerfully as usual as Leonard, Zai, Aden and Dragon came up to congratulate and ask about his first pokemon. This was definitely shaping up to be one for the record books.
