Truth for the Heart

Chapter 1 Believing the Truth

"Kagome! Get outta the way!" Inuyasha yelled, pushing her to the side. Preparing to slice is half-brother in pieces, Kagome had ran in front of him, thinking that he didn't know what he was doing. "Can't you do anything right?!" he told her, looking at her with cold eyes. Kagome stood up, dusting the dirt off herself. "Baka." she said, and ran off, into the direction of the well. Apparently, Sesshoumaru had disappeared into the dark vastness of the sky. "Dammit." the demon growled. "Inuyasha!" called Sango and Shippou, who had seen the whole thing. "Aren't you going to go after her?" Sango asked. "Let her stay in that wretched world of hers. Frankly, I don't care." Walking off, Miroku stepped in front of him. "Inuyasha." he said. "Surely you haven't forgot that only she can sense the Shikon Shards?" he asked.

It hadn't been long since Kagome had gone into the well, returning home. Baka. She thought. Baka, baka, baka. Kneeling down, she glanced at a cheery blossom, that seemed to have a silver tint. Picking it up, she resumed walking home, with Inuyasha on her mind. She closed the door to her room, and flopped on her futon. Kagome slowly picked the petals off the flower. "He loves me. He loves me not." she said to herself quietly. "He loves me. He loves me not. He loves me." This continued until the last petal was plucked from the pink flower. "He... loves me...." The young girl clenched her teeth. "That can't be true, right?" she asked. "How can someone like me... be loved by someone like him?" She flinched, thinking about it. "What am I 'sposed to believe?" Kagome looked at the ceiling. "What am I 'sposed to believe?" she repeated. Sighing, she walked out of her room, and into the well, knowing she was going to regret it.

"Inuyasha. You have to go after her." called Shippou. "She's probably gone already." Miroku replied. "She'll come back." Inuyasha growled. "How do you know?" asked Sango. "It's not like she really cares about this world, and what happens to it, as long as she has another world to come home to everyday." Inuyasha snorted. "Really?" he asked, with sarcasm. "Really." said a voice that belong to Kagome. She stood behind all of them, as if to know what they were saying all this time. They all stared at her as she walked to the demon. "Inuyasha." she said. "Baka." she added. "C'mon. You wanna find that Shikon Shard, don't 'cha?" she smiled, leaving Inuyasha with a dazed stare. He snorted once more, then started walking away from the group. "Let's go." he said. Kagome smiled. He loves me. He loves me not. Doesn't really matter. Love's only a word, until you show it.
