Hi, so here is the third chapter which I had a lot of fun writing especially the bit where we go to the future which is odd as that is an episode I really don't like. Either way I had some fun creating Prue's future especially as it becomes clear that not all of the Halliwell children have names beginning with P.

Disclaimer-Nothing here is mine just this chapter and the characters involved in Prue's future.

Please Read and Review and let me know what you think.

This story is not episode specific so certain episodes might be missed, glossed over or merged together.

Before And After

Chapter 3-Of Past Regrets And Future Fears

Prue and Andy talk though there are several things still left to be finalised. A trip to the future brings a shock to all three of the Halliwell's.

For a moment they stared at each other and then Andy shifted a little. Prue took stock of the bruises that seemed to be healing on his face and the way he was better in colour than he had been a week or so ago but she also noted that he was still in a hospital bed and still staring down months of PT before he could get back on the force, if he could get back on the force.

"You look good" she said and then immediately hated herself for that.

"I don't" Andy said with a small smile.

"Better than you did when they brought you in at any rate"

Andy snorted.

"Did you get him…Rod…"

"Yeah" she said cutting across him. "It's over. Well…not over were still fighting demons left right and centre but he's gone to the bowls of hell and believe me there's no coming back for him or for the guy he was working for"

Andy sighed.

"Well that's something anyway"

Prue nodded shutting the door.

"We need to talk"

"I'll say. Two weeks and you've not come to see me"

"I…" And here was the crux of the matter wasn't it? Here was what she was thinking about saying and had been thinking about saying for some time.

"I didn't know if you'd want to see me" she said that was partially the truth if not the whole truth but Andy had always had the ability to read her like the open book she had never been to anyone except him and he raised and eyebrow and Prue dumped her bag on the chair and finally managed to force herself to look him in the eyes.

"You should be dead" she said. "We've checked the book, we've gone over everything and anything, every minute detail of that spell and what happened and as God as my witness Andy there is no way you should still be alive and that's because of me—"

"Let me finish" she cut across him when he showed every sign of interrupting. And then she started rambling and this she knew was a very, very bad sign.

"I told you, you were going to die that day and you came to the house and…and that's what I thought for a long time and then a demon stole the Book of Shadows and I had this moment where I thought to myself do I really want to be a witch anymore? Because being a witch nearly got you killed, it's caused constant disruption to our lives and any mortal that we come into contact with is at risk of being caught in the crossfire and I thought to myself is that really what I want? Because as mad as it sounds the one thing I have wanted since I was sixteen was you and you nearly died and then Phoebe managed to smack some sense into me—"

"Phoebe's always had a way of doing that" Andy said cutting across her. When she looked at him she noted that his eyes were very warm.

"Look Prue you didn't make me go into that house. Even if it wasn't you I would have done so anyway because…because when they gave me that badge and that gun I took an oath to protect the innocent just like you did, even at the expense of my own life, just like you did and every police officer knows that one day that oath might just cost them their life. Besides even if I wasn't in love with you, still in love with you, I'd have done it for your sisters. I've known the three of you since we were children there was really nothing you could have done to stop me from going in that house"

"I thought you couldn't see witches in your future?"

Andy shrugged.

"I also thought witches didn't exist. I've had time to think about what I want and…and dying or nearly dying or whatever it was that happens to me tends to give a man a bit of perspective on what's going on around him. Can I handle this world that you're in? I think so, I mean it's baby steps obviously but it's not so terrifying on this side of it. And…and I went looking for it. I knew you were hiding something and I chased towards it so if you want to blame someone for this mess blame me. I could have just done what Daryl told me to and walk away from it all…but I didn't and I don't regret that decision"

Prue shook her head. She was crying now and she knew, she knew, she was seconds away from making both a beautiful and terrible decision that she would cherish and regret in equal measure for the rest of her life but she didn't care. Two weeks ago this was a pipe dream and now it was unfolding at her feet and she knew that somewhere there was a trapdoor ready to catch her.

"Don't say things you don—"

"I love you" Andy said cutting through the words and rendering her speechless.

"And I know you love me. So…so am I saying I'm going to move into the house with you and start demon hunting, no, but what I am saying is that I am here, I am alive, and I can assure you I am going nowhere and you can argue with me all you want Prue but I was the one that usually won the arguments"

"Oh like hell you did" she said but there was no heat behind the comment. Instead she felt like she was going to cry again. Like bawling again…like Titanic bawling.

"I love you too" she said because he was right, after everything that they had been through they were far past the dance that they did around the other. "But I don't know where we go from here"

"We go slow" Andy degreed. "We try and be as normal as possible for as long as we can be and you come back tomorrow and the day afterwards and you never, ever leave me again because Prue…" and here she could see his composure slipping and the man he had become turn into the boy she had given her whole heart too.

"There was nothing as terrible as waking up and realising that you weren't here"

She nodded and sat down on the bed. Andy linked their fingers together and then finally she managed to get into a position where they were holding each other (abet with a lot of tubes in the way).

It wasn't perfect.

And yet it was.

The next day was spent in a kind of daze. Andy was still in the hospital but he was having a barrage of tests before they decided if he could leave. Considering he was now two weeks into a stay and board out of his mind (as he assured her on the phone that morning) she was willing to bet that he was crossing everything and anything he could so that he could get out.

"Things sound kind of good" Phoebe said with that knowing grin and Prue found herself grinning back.

"It's not perfect" she said. "Not clear cut but…it's better than what it was"

"That's the spirit! Between you and Andy and Piper and Leo it's going to be a long weekend…perhaps I should go and see if neighbour Dan needs any help…watering his plants"

Prue laughed. "Since when was that dirty talk?"

"Oh honey, I can make—Piper what on earth?"

For Piper had just limped in her shoe covered in…well…you get the idea.

And that was how today's magical crisis began.

The spell to the future had separated them and Prue had woken up in her Bucklands office dressed in black leather and with platinum blonde hair that must have cost more than the house to get done.

Oh and she was an apparent multi-millionaire who owned three auction houses, had a private jet and seemed to have a fiancé (if the giant—and she meant giant—diamond ring on her finger was anything to go by).

All in all if it wasn't for Phoebe then the future might actually be shaping out to be rather good.

"Miss Halliwell? Your children are here?"

Prue nearly dropped dead on the floor right there and then, which considering what she did for a living was really a rather poor choice of words.

"My—err?"

"Yes both of them. Should I tell them your otherwise indisposed?"

"No" she said shaking her head. "Send them both in"

The door shut and then opened and in came two teenagers. A boy and a girl.

Prue would put the boy…no her son at maybe sixteen fifteen and her daughter about two years younger. Both had dark hair and dark eyes but she was in doubt as to who their father was because her son could have passed for Andy's teenage twin. Her daughter looked more like her and they were both dressed in dark jeans and boots her son in a dark denim shirt that fit him like a glove and her daughter in a dark t-shirt under a leather jacket.

Oh she was going to be sick.

"Mom" the girl said watching her with something akin to panic. "Listen please let us help with Aunt Phoebe. We can use our powers—hey!"

The boy had just smacked her on her arm.

"Well done Anna, why don't you tell the whole world that were planning a prison break? It's not like Dad's not got enough to worry about smuggling witches into hiding"

Anna. Her daughter's name was Anna.

Anna Trudeau?

Anna Halliwell?

Anna .

"Sorry Peter"

Peter. Her son's name was Peter.

Peter Trudeau?

Peter Halliwell?

Peter.

Another P. Well. At least Grams would be pleased.

But that led her to regain part of the missing conversation.

A prison break. Her kids, her sister burning at the stake.

And Prue realised that in order to save these kids from that fate she was going to have to get a grip.

Fast.

"No" she said standing up and feeling her head swim. "No your Aunt and I will take care of it. The best thing the two of you can do is go…go to your Dad"

"Dad won't let us near the damn bastard"

"Hey" she said pointing a finger at her son who looked thoughally unrepentant even as her daughter snickered.

"Behave, look we have to make sure none of this comes back on us. So go to your Dad and wait until I come and get you"

In all honesty she had no idea what she was saying.

But they believed her.

After all why wouldn't they.

She was their Mom.

"So are you and Andy married then?" Piper asked her as they walked into the underground hiding place for…well…anyone.

"Don't think so. I think we've been living in sin with two kids for some time actually"

"You have" Leo said not looking at them. "Pete was a complete surprise and Andy wanted to marry you but you told him that a baby wasn't going to be the reason you got married. Then your career took off and so did his and then Anna was born and you both decided you didn't want to rush it. I believe Andy's words was what did a piece of paper matter when you knew how you felt since you were teenagers"

That effectively shut Prue up.

"And where is he?" Piper asked.

"Covering all of our asses. He's the Police Commissioner's first choice to replace him and he's using that office to help take names of the list for burning and send them down here. But he's got to be careful. You won't see him until after the burning"

"The burning my children think were going to stop"

Leo said nothing.

"Hey what can they do?"

"Peter can throw fire. But bright blue fire for some reason and Anna can get inside people's heads. She can take their mind to the worst place imaginable or the best and fiddle with their memories. She can heal trauma or male them completely insane. It's been hard getting them both to stop storming the prison or the Witch Hunter's offices. They out of all of our children have the most magic at their fingertips. Utter chaos or utter insanity"

Prue didn't like that thought one bit.

And she knew what Andy would say as well.

In the end there was no point. There was no point because Phoebe in the contradictory way that was Phoebe chose to die. She knew that she had to pay the price for her crimes and then before Piper could unfreeze the crowd to get it on the door burst open and the orange flames at Phoebe's feet turned blue and Prue felt her blood turn cold.

"No" she shouted and she turned grabbing her son by the arm and dragging him backwards as her daughter burst in her dark hair falling over her face and someone followed…

It was Andy

Prue took a second to take in the utter terror and grief in his face and knew that he too was grieving the loss that was going to happen here and then she took in the fact that time was far, far too good for Andy and fuck me (she thought) he was sexy at middle aged.

Anna followed him but he grabbed her hand, grabbed Peter and shoved them up against the wall and Prue didn't care. She didn't care about her sister (God Help Her) in that moment. She cared about her children. Peter and Anna and she cared about Andy who was following them.

"No" she shouted and she dragged her son backwards cupping his face and her hand came out to drag her daughter back against the wall.

"No" she said even as dark eyes looked at her desperately. Prue might not know these children or this future but she thought that she was going to do whatever it took to keep them safe.

Andy…middle aged Andy…Police Commissioner Heir Apparent Andy came into the room and they shared a look in which Andy grabbed Anna. Prue forced Peter towards his father and then dragging Piper by the hand they stood huddled together the children shielded from seeing their Aunt burn alive at the stake.

Andy's hand found her stomach and the blonde Prue stared at him knowing what that meant. But Piper was crying and her son was struggling and she was rocking her daughter back and forth her eyes on his the anguish reflected even as Andy was rocking their son back and forth and then…

And then…

And then it was over.

She woke up on her bed where the spell had taken her back in the right year, the right decade, the right century. But still she found even later that night she could remember Peter and Anna and Andy's hand against the hard muscle of her stomach she thought was due to crunches and not because of the baby she had realised far, far too late she was carrying. Later that night once she had gone to bed for real…all of the sisters to exhausted and bogged down with what the future showed them for words Prue found she was staring at the window covered by the thick curtains that she drew around her and she shivered under her bed covers at the thought of the two children that had clung to her and man who had looked at her with those same eyes she had fallen in love with as a teenager.

It was all she had ever wanted and all she had never thought that she could have.

And yet…

She turned over and tugged the comforter closer to her and closed her eyes. She would ring Andy in the morning—she would not tell him what had happened just yet—but she would see if he was home and then…

And then…

It was open to her she realised. All of it.

The future.

And what a beautiful thought that was.

And there you go. Let me know what you think and I will do my best to update as soon as I can.

Next Chapter-Dishawalla comes to P3 bringing with them demons. Andy and Daryl have a conversation about the sisters and the job and then just as Prue is about to give up she learns a lesson about men that might shine some light on her relationship with Andy, and finally give them the new beginning that they both so desperately want.
