And I will try and get you the next chapter sooner rather than later.

Before And After

Chapter 7-Impulse Control.

Someone shoots up the house. Daryl finds out the truth. Prue goes undercover and takes on her greatest enemy and her greatest fear and gains a new power (some episode events changes and chapter summary changes and dialogue changes)

The adjustment that came with Andy living with them was a strange one. Prue had never been through something like that before. With Rodger there had always been Piper as a buffer and there had never been anything else that had stopped them. They had been closed off work-addicts and she had been the one who had managed to captain the ship through it's turbulent times.

Actually come to think of it those had been the only times that she and Rodger had ever had.

The strangeness with Andy living with them was that it just seemed to work.

All three of them had their own bathrooms attached to their rooms and all three of them shared the kitchen and the fridge. With Andy there was aftershave and shower gel and almost twice the amount of coffee beans used. There was a lot more red meat in the fridge and boxers in the wash and work files scattered around and Prue loved it.

More to the point Piper and Phoebe didn't seem to mind either. There had been days when they were kids—many of them in fact—when Andy had come to stay and for this it seemed to be a long reliving of their childhood. But this was different. What her sisters would think of that when they realised that Andy was actually staying was another story.

One of the things that Andy had also insisted on bringing was his gun. That was a new thing for Prue. She supposed that being witches they had never really needed guns or even a decent lock on the front door but when Andy realised one morning that they didn't bother that much to even lock the front door he had put down his the rag he was cleaning the gun with at breakfast—which was just—ugh—and stared at the three of them as if they were crazy. Something that Prue was very happy to announce they were not at least not on this day

"Seriously? Do I need to give you the statistics on woman being murdered in their own home? Robberies? Rapes? Or what—"

"We fight demons Andy" Phoebe said waving all of that aside to add another coat of mascara on her already thick lashes. "What is the point of a lock—besides we lock the door occasionally"

Andy gaped at her.

"Well I'm keeping a gun in my gun safe. If you three have powers then I'm also being prepared."

"Yeah cause guns can do so much against a demon"

"They can do one hell of a job against a human though"

And then someone opened fire.

Literally.

Opened fire

Andy seemed to snap into action mode first. Mainly because this was more his area of expertise rather than hers. He grabbed her and then Phoebe and shoved them behind the couch. Piper followed but ended up stuck in a corner of the room before finally managing to make it to them freezing several bullets that were heading her way before they ended up in the dining room mirror that Prue just knew was going to be a bitch to fix.

Andy loaded his gun and paused.

"Ok so what happened to demons not using bullets?"

"Maybe it's not a demon" she replied.

"Who else wants to kill you?"

"Well Prue was a little sharp to the mailman yesterday and we all know testy public servants can be"

"Not helping Phoebe"

"Drive by?" Piper asked.

"Round this neighbourhood?" Andy said incredulously. "This is one of the safest places to live. Or I assume it was until you three came back"

All three of them shot him a look that made him feel like he was thirteen again.

Damn the power of that Halliwell glare.

There was a pause at the door and the sound of what sounded like an automatic machine gun.

"A machine gun?" Phoebe said horror coating her voice. "A machine gun?! What the hell are we supposed to do against that?"

"Powers?"

"Kick" she said nodding.

"Freeze" Piper said.

"Send flying" Prue added.

"And then I will arrest…well…I will contain the individual until you call Daryl"

"Aw look at us, the power of four"

"Phoebe!"

There was a sound near the front door and they paused all of them on edge.

There was a tenth of a second almost and then Andy realised that something was wrong…something was terribly, terribly, wrong.

"Wait" Andy said stopping but he could feel the hairs on his neck stand up and he turned around standing up and taking aim.

All he saw was a mass of black leather and red hair and then three bullets were coming out and he watched as they seemed to stop before they hit him. Prue was standing next to him glass in her hair and then the bullets were flying backwards just as he fired his own gun and hers was released on impact spraying most of the wall behind her going up in smoke.

She hit the ground with a shocking finality and then all was quiet.

"Wait" he said as Piper and Phoebe scrambled to their feet. "Just wait a second"

Though the mad dash from the conservatory to the couch had sent his knee aching in a way it hadn't for months he managed to step forwards to the woman.

She was decidedly human—of course that might not mean much because as far as he had been concerned Rodriguez had been thoughally human but then again…she looked human…certainly she bled like a human.

And she died like a human.

"Oh my God, she's not a demon" Prue said as he gently (using the tablecloth) pulled the gun out from under her.

"Prue take anything off her you can without touching her while I call Daryl"

"Daryl" came a trio of replies. Andy resisted the urge to roll his eyes. This was detective work, this was what he did and it was clear that this was not something the sisters did. It was nice in a way. To have something that he could do and do well as opposed to something that was a completely new fish out of water experience.

Like demons, ghosts, monsters that shouldn't exist but this.

This was a good old fashioned homicide.

God Andy had missed them.

"We need somewhere to put the body. Unless you have a new freezer that's big enough in the basement. Also she's human which means someone other than a demon did this and then there's also the fact that she's shot up this place. Loudly. So unless you want half of San Fran's PD here then…"

There was a delicate pause.

"No. Didn't think so."

Daryl to his credit came over right away.

By that point they had gone through most of the woman's belongings.

"Defiantly a hitwoman" Andy said grimly.

"Not exactly Avon calling"

"She's a professional as well" Andy said. "Foreign currency that's up to date, multiple aliases, my guess is if we find the car we'll find a go bag and she'll just disappear. Could explain why the police don't know anything about her—"

"And she knows what we can do. Look a list of our powers"

"Hitman hunting witches?"

Prue shrugged but the look she gave him was one of sadness.

"I killed a human"

He folded her into his arms and she went willingly.

"And saved us. She's had killed us all had you not done that. Professional killers tend to not want to leave witnesses"

"Explains why she tried to divide us by going for the front door and sneaking up at the back" Piper said.

"If the three of you had, had a proper alarm system or perhaps even I don't know…locked the back door then this might—"

"Not now Andy"

Andy opened his mouth and then shut it. Prue was wearing an expression that he knew from bitter, bitter experience meant that he was not supposed to argue with.

And at that moment Daryl walked in.

One look at the mess, at Andy with his gun out and the dead body on the floor and he went white around the mouth. Andy said nothing, he knew his partner and he knew there was no chance that he would take this explanation as fact and he was proved right.

"Do you really wanna know?" he said softly.

Daryl looked at him at the body and then back at him again and when he did the look in his eyes had hardened. Andy wondered if that was what he had looked like when he had found out the truth. But he had gone in with his eyes closed. Daryl knew enough to know that anything (and by God he meant everything) was on the table.

"Tell me"

And they did.

Daryl to his credit took it standing. For a second he stared at them and then he turned to Andy as if expecting it to be a big joke. Andy nodded. Daryl nodded and then he switched to detective mode as soon as possible.

There was another name on the list and Andy kissing Prue said that he would go with his partner.

"One last ride" he said.

Daryl managed a small smile.

"So…witchcraft"

"Yeah it's a thing, a big thing apparently."

"And you've known since…"

"Remember those kids who went missing a couple of months ago? They were found in a storm drain and the reporter that went in was killed—"

"Jesus Christ Andy that long?"

"Yeah. It took me a while to get my head around it. Demons and witches and…Rodriguez"

"Rodriguez?"

"Demon"

Daryl swerved to avoid a tree.

"Bloody hell…no wonder they can't find him. So he was—"

"The technical term is vanquished"

"Oh I need a drink"

"You asked to know"

"There was a dead body in your kitchen! The kitchen where the blender my wife gave you as a present is sat"

"And that was lovely for making smoothies"

"She'll be thrilled" Daryl said dryly.

There was silence for a long time.

"So…the brooms true"

"No. Neither is the bucket of water or the warts or the evilness"

"Oh well…good to know"

"But you have to admit it makes sense now. All of those missing leads on cases"

Daryl thought about it.

"Ok find it does but…God I was barely getting a grip of this world. I wasn't ready to be dragged into another."

"We both stepped over the line because we both knew we had to find out the truth" Andy said casually. "And it gets better. Believe me one day you'll say Spellbook with complete ease"

"Oh I want vodka."

Andy chuckled.

Daryl threw him an eye but Andy had to admit. He was taking it so much better than he had thought.

And actually it was really nice that another mortal person knew. Leo was a good man but Leo was…well…an angel.

Daryl Morris was many things but angel he most certainly was not.

"I'm sorry she's doing what now!"

Piper winced. Granted she had not expected Andy to be pleased with this decision but the yelling was a bit too much. She was still coming down from the bitch that had been this morning plus she was sure that if Dan heard anymore noise coming from this house he was going to come bursting in at the head of a SWAT Team.

"Prue is playing hitwoman"

"Oh she's playing—she's playing hitwoman! I mean…I don't even know where to begin with that one"

And he started pacing around the room looking agitated.

"Andy you knee will flare up if you keep that going" Phoebe said casually. "Besides we have bigger problems. If Barbus—"

"Who the hell is—"

"Oh I keep forgetting that you only know so much. Remember last Friday 13th? Women dying terrified. Prue almost one of them yep he was a demon, 13 dead witches by Friday 13th and now he's found a loophole so instead of every 1300 years it's now this year as well."

Andy sat down.

"And what can he do?"

"He turns your worst fears into a reality. That's why your M.E could never find out what was going on. Because people were literally dying of fright"

Andy let that sink in.

"And how did you—"

"Prue did. But she can't do that and defeat Bane at once. So we have to get to her before one of them does and the only way we can do that is if we have a spell or something—"

"No you don't. I can arrest Bane—call Daryl and you can do that Power of Three thing"

There was a pause.

"Huh. You know sometimes I forget that you're here Andy"

"Thanks a lot Phebs"

Prue couldn't breathe afterwards.

One moment she had been facing her sisters as if they were her greatest and her most dangerous enemy as Andy with an accuracy that was spot on dealt with both Bane and the other men. Daryl was there at some point and apparently he was sticking to the view that if he didn't ask he wouldn't be told though he mentioned something about the club, vodka and several bottles.

And she had new power.

She was sat on the edge of the table watching and breathing hard when Andy came over.

"Never" he said pulling her into his arms. "Think about playing a hitwoman again"

"No" she said snuggling into his arms for once not caring what she thought or what her sisters thought or what Bane watching her with wide eyes thought. She had liked Bane, she had liked the danger and the power and the leather—dear God she liked the leather but the reality was she loved Andy and she always would.

"Nice outfit though"

"You should see what she had, honestly she makes me look like a nun"

His hands were warm on her hips and his smile curved into her neck.

"Well then…it would be a shame to let all of those clothes go to evidence"

"Especially the fur."

Andy laughed.

The clothes went to evidence nonetheless but right there and then they didn't care and as another crisis was solved they found that they were fine carrying on into this perfect little piece of this normality that was not normality, so hard to come by and so very, very easy to loose.

And there you go. Let me know what you think and I will get the next chapter to you as soon as possible.

Next Chapter-Prue and Andy contemplate parenthood as the sister's babysit a small child whose being hunted by a vengeful ghost.
