AN: Kol and Bonnie attempt a first date after a night on the battlefield. Bonnie's father is back in town and he has some thoughts on the vampire population.
Kol and Klaus commission Bonnie to act as their informant with her father becoming the new town mayor.
A meeting with Professor Shane goes awry and Abby gives Kol an ultimatum.
Happy New Year guys! I hope you all had a better one than me.
I have loved Kesha since her dollar sign days and I love her still. Thought that part would be a nice way to show that Kol does actually listen and care about Bonnie's interests.
Also the compliment he gives to Bonnie about the way happiness looks on her, was a compliment I received last year, and it was one of the most touching compliments I've had in a long time, I feel that would be a lovely thing for Bonnie to hear from Kol so she'd know he wants to make her happy. Before he upsets her again lol

"Elena, to be fair Kol and I had business this morning, around eleven. I couldn't have and he couldn't have been at the school if we were here, we're all witness to that," Abby stated evenly.
"It's no grand loss, the boy was a threat to society anyway," Klaus said with a smirk.
"Then it was you," Elena pointed at Klaus. "Bonnie, why did you let this happen, why are you letting them do this?" She continued sobbing.
Bonnie could hardly believe the words that were coming out of Elena's mouth, then again, this was Elena. She would always look for the scapegoat, and she wouldn't understand that Jeremy brought his fate upon himself. And even if Kol or Abby did kill him, could Bonnie really be bothered over it, after the way he'd treated her? That answer was a huge hell no!
"Oh, I let this happen?! No, Elena, you're wrong. As usual. But Klaus is right, it's no big loss here. I'm sorry Elena, that you lost your little brother," she looked at Stefan and Damon, while she took Kol's hand. "But Kol didn't kill Jeremy. Get her mourning ass out of here," she wanted to add if he did, he would have been the first to let her know. Only that seemed like overkill.
Kol smiled a satisfied smile as Bonnie led the way to his room with Abby and Elijah following in awe. Caroline flashed in front of Bonnie.
"Bon, what the hell?"
"Caroline, please. We'll talk later, ok?"
Her big blue eyes were so sad, Bonnie couldn't just blow her off like that. "Why don't we get together next weekend, just you and me? We'll have a girls day,"
Bonnie embraced a visibly shaken Caroline before she reclaimed Kol's hand and stepped around the blonde. Her mini entourage followed her to Kol's room, who held the door open and Abby stepped inside.
Once they were all inside Kol's room, Elijah shut the door and looked at Kol and Bonnie. "Your history teacher's demise is part of my mother's plan, as Ms. Bennett discovered. She intends to make him into an Original Vampire, to end us with the white oak stake she's made indestructible. He'll be waiting for us tonight, she's already claimed his body while he awaits transition," Elijah spoke low enough so that only the vampires present could hear him. "The Gilbert boy's death was likely another display of power, Esther wished to show that she wields the power to take the lives of anyone she deems fit."
"Oh, no doubt," Kol agreed.
"We must be prepared, tonight," Elijah implored. "I understand you have plans, but I'm certain our collective survival takes priority," Bonnie and Kol each nodded in agreement.
"Sure, we can always get to know each other better later. I mean; as long as I don't die or something because of Esther or Alaric who are out to kill not just Originals, but all vampires," Bonnie said with a strained laugh. "Then we're good!"
"Very well. Abigail?" He looked past them to Abby, blatantly ignoring Bonnie's sardonic comments.
"Why are you two holding hands?" Abby asked.
Bonnie lifted her shoulders in a nonchalant shrug and self consciously released Kol's hand. He scowled at Bonnie.
"Right," she slapped a palm on her thigh. "I don't even- whatever," Abby swept a hand over her hair and looked at Kol. "You know I will fuck you up, right?"
"Come now, Mumsie, I'm indestructible! You've ensured that," leaning down, he spoke in a hushed voice in Bonnie's ear. "For me, it was official the night you came back to me. Remember that?" Kol said with a gloat. Bonnie blushed.
"Kol," Elijah pinched the bridge of his nose for a brief moment and held a gentlemen's hand to the Bennett witch. "Abigail, come we have much to prepare for,"
Abby stalked forward, pushing through Kol and Bonnie, and glaring at Kol's never-ending smirk. Then she took Elijah's outstretched hand and held it up dramatically as if hanging onto his hand was the only thing keeping her upright. Elijah led her out of the room.
"The hell was that," Bonnie mumbled.
"Shagging most likely," Kol said, looking contemplatively at the door. Bonnie scoffed at that and stomped over to stand near his closet, leaning up against it. "Or what is it you Americans say… uh, hooking up? Booty call, perhaps?"
"I usually say fucking but in this case, I'm going to pretend nothing of that sort exists because that's Elijah and my mom and… I'm gonna suggest we change the subject," she crossed her arms. "Did you kill Jeremy?"
"Bonnie," Kol took her hand and led her to the lounge that was just beyond his bed and sat her down, taking a seat next to her. "Were it I that was the culprit, you must realize I would have taken no greater joy in telling you as soon as the deed was done. Unfortunately, it was not me and for that, I am truly sorry. Are you excited for tonight?"
Kol made a valid point. He would show no shame if he had slain the imbecile. "Yes, more bloodshed. Exactly what we need to set the mood for our date,"
"We just need to dispatch the instructor and dismantle my mother's minions. Then you're all mine,"
"Sure, why not?" She laughed, thinking there were tons of reasons why. Tonight had the ability to make or break this thing between them, depending on if Kol used the sire bond to his advantage or not. And even if it did break them, he still wouldn't let her go, which was what troubled her.
"Oh, put some feeling into it, Bonnie,"
She sighed and draped her arms around his neck. "I am giving you a proper chance, so our first official date better be everything and as long as you let me be free to have my own thoughts and don't do that little demanding trick thing you do, I don't see a problem,"
"I'd never think to provide you with anything less," Kol grinned as he closed in on her lips. But Bonnie pulled away.
"And just so you know, we aren't fucking on the first date,"
Kol looked at her with hungry, demanding eyes. "But you want to, don't you?"
"Yes,"
Bonnie's eyes popped open in surprise and she quickly clamped a hand over her mouth as Kol chuckled softly.
"Don't fucking do that!"
"Do what, love?"
"That sire bond thing!"
He smiled that damn smirk before his face softened and his eyes dropped to her lips. "I can't help it, love. I feel you and you feel me. So strongly,"
Bonnie shuddered a breath. Desire was finicky with Kol. He was what she wanted, only she couldn't tell if it was his will or hers, the lines blurred so badly, being tethered to him. It was easier to think clearly when she wasn't around him. That was when she understood what she felt for him.
She leaned in, tenderly gripping his face between her hands and fixing his gaze on her. "I'm serious. Sex is a hard pass,"
He opened his mouth, likely to protest but Bonnie shushed him with a finger to his lips. " Don't. I want to, Kol, believe me, I do. But when I'm ready. I'll let you know,"
He frowned. "The night we met,"
"Drunk off my ass! I wasn't thinking clearly,"
"Bonnie, sweetheart. I just want a kiss," he said softly, taking her hands and interlocking her fingers with his.
Sighing, Bonnie pressed her lips to his and let him kiss her until she was dizzy. Apparently, he was too. It seemed with each new kiss came a stronger arousal. She could feel his body calling for her and memories of the previous night swam through her mind. She couldn't go on this way. "Kol, I can't," Bonnie whispered.
"You should go. I underestimated my own level of self-control, along with your tempting kiss,"
Kol used the sire bond to send Bonnie off. Though she hated when he commanded her, it was a welcome relief that showed her he was truly waiting on her. She could only hope he would keep that same energy tonight.
~ One corner of the triangle ~
"Why couldn't I go with Rebekah?" Bonnie asked as she trailed behind Elijah on the dirt path.
"Kol and Rebekah are eerily attached to you, a fact which clouds their judgment, Esther would easily use you as leverage against them, killing you first before she takes them out in their moment of distress over your death. My judgment, however, isn't as clouded- please take no offense to that-"
"None taken at all. I'm just glad one of y'all isn't obsessed with me,"
Elijah smirked. "though I do intend to protect you for your mother's sake as well as my brother's,"
"Which one?"
Elijah stopped and turned to Bonnie. "Miss Bennett. I can't say I envy the position you've found yourself in, caught between two Mikaelson brothers. It had never fared well for any women in that situation. Not Tatia, Katerina, or even poor Faith."
Faith was the only other vampire Kol ever turned. Apparently, he only did it because he got really intimate with her. What Bonnie didn't understand was how she was the one who went on to sire vampires if she had to give her blood to people, the only way they'd turn is if they died with vampire blood coursing through their system. Kol was so greedy, plus she was tethered to him through a sire bond. It didn't make sense that she would give a human her blood.
She sighed. "But I already have Kol as my 'eternal mate'. What the hell is it with Klaus?"
"Why, the allure of what's forbidden of course. It's been a staple of his personality all our lives, except for with Rebekah of course. Crushing her hopes and dreams over a potential lover is something he sees as necessary to protect her heart as Niklaus doesn't believe she possesses the foresight to discern a true mate for herself,"
"He only wants what he can't have. Gross. I'll stick with Kol. And that sounds like something that's up to Rebekah to decide, not Klaus,"
Elijah held a gentlemen's elbow out for Bonnie which she took as they continued walking. A small cabin came into view.
"Kol, on the other hand, definitely wants what he wants, only he can be quite unreasonable when it comes to acquiring it, hence your abrupt dive into his world. Also worth noting is that while it is clear to all that you show no interest in Niklaus, his desire for you blinds Kol to that fact. Undoubtedly a lesson in fortitude for him, considering your relationship with the Gilbert boy,"
Bonnie shuddered as they walked up to the cabin. "Jeremy's dead. I don't want to talk about him,"
"Very well. The time for talking is over. It appears we have company," Elijah halted, stopping Bonnie with him as he looked around.
Like a bad fucking episode of deja vu from the day prior, a dozen hybrids came into sight, some from the cabin and some from the woods. Only, Bonnie wasn't frightened, she was anticipating an ambush and the pent-up frustration from a heated makeout sesh with Kol earlier had her adrenaline ready to pump. She couldn't help but wonder one thing while she and Elijah shifted their stance to stand back to back to one another as the snarling hybrids closed in on them.
"How many fucking hybrids did Klaus turn?"
"Legions," Elijah answered. "Well, Miss Bennett. Shall we?"
"We shall,"
Immediately, both vampires sprang into action.
~ Second corner of the triangle ~
Rebekah flew at the one wielding the crossbow.
"Rebekah, NO!" Kol yelled. "They are all humans!"
"Yes, humans compelled to kill us, Kol!" She shouted back. Two arrows were shot into her chest. She looked down and to her horror, her halter top was ruined. "You complete nincompoop! I just bought this!" Rebekah carefully pulled one of the arrows out and flung it at his head, impaling him through the eye. He and each human present, about a dozen life-size blood bags, immediately fell dead.
Kol frowned. He walked up to her and drew his eyes to the arrow still in her chest. "Did that hurt?"
She scoffed. "Hardly,"
Kol yanked it out of her chest with excessive force. "Bloody fucking twat!" She screamed.
He smirked. "And how did that feel?"
"You don't have to be cruel," she glared at him.
"True, but do you not realize you're playing right into Esther's plan to wake the immortal Silas? Bloody wench," he murmured in dismay.
"Silas?" Rebekah's face transitioned from one of fury to mirth as she burst out laughing. "Silas isn't real, brother. He is but a fairytale parents used to scare their children into eating their vegetables,"
"You think me foolish, yet you're the one who knows not wherein to place your faith or your fear. We cannot let Silas rise,"
His phone rang then. It was Elijah calling with an update on his and Bonnie's status. "What is it?" Kol asked as he answered.
"Another hybrid ambush. Miss Bennett and I took them down easily enough," Kol smirked at that. Bonnie was a G, as she would say when it came to battling hybrids. "What did you find?"
"Humans. She's working on completing her expression triangle. I intend to stop her," he declared, determined.
"Very well, we'll rendezvous then, at the last set of coordinates."
~ The third corner of the triangle~
It felt so wrong that Abby was the one wielding this powerful magic and Bonnie couldn't help when it came to magic. She could feel the powerful thrum of magic in the air as two witches, two mothers faced off, each holding up their end of an invisible force field of magic. At the same time, Bonnie was in awe of the strength and energy Abby displayed. Esther probably thought she'd take her out easily enough, yet she had another thing coming, Bonnie thought as she crept near the scene with Elijah.
Out of the corner of her eye, she witnessed Klaus in a deathless match with his oldest brother, Finn. As he began to get the upper hand, Bonnie tore her eyes and thoughts away from the stealthy way he moved. It wasn't something she needed to concern herself with. Especially not with traces of his blood still in her system.
Elijah motioned for Bonnie to be still then he zipped over to where Esther was and grabbed her in a headlock from behind.
"Cease your magic attack, Mother. And the end will come quickly for you," he spoke into his mother's ear. As he did, Bonnie noticed that Abby began to falter. Bonnie sped over to her mother, and offered her blood by biting into her wrist.
Abby looked uncertain. "It'll heal you, Mom. Please, drink. I don't want the magic to overwhelm you," Bonnie pleaded. Abby reluctantly drank the blood and it indeed replenished her.
"Elijah, NO!" Kol came speeding out of nowhere with Rebekah. He slapped rusty shackles on his mother who was still being held in a hostage lock by Elijah. "You can release her, she can't harm any of us now." Elijah released her and went to stand aside Kol, who peered down at his mother. "Where are your witches? I know you've got them lurking somewhere around here,"
Killing Esther was probably what she anticipated the lot would do, it was likely part of her plan.
"And where's Ric?" Bonnie demanded.
Esther glared at her sons defiantly, from Elijah and Kol to Klaus, who'd gotten Finn in a headlock, and finally to Rebekah. "You will all pay for your crimes against nature," she said, giving each their own personal look of indignation. Suddenly she threw a handful of black dust on Abby.
Abby flailed and screamed as the dust hit her, singing off her shirt and scorching her skin. Bonnie reacted quicker than Kol could command her, to his awe and dismay.
Enraged, she pounced on Esther, sinking her fangs into her neck. She clamped down with a vicious bite and tore out her throat, feeling the life gasping out of the mother of the Originals.
"No!" Kol cried. A dozen dead bodies surrounding the group appeared out of a cloaking spell, dropping to the floor. Bloody hell! This is exactly what he was hoping to prevent. Bonnie and Niklaus's slaughtering of his hybrids, Rebekah's dispatching of the humans, and the bodies that dropped along with Esther -a group of witches- were all part of her expression triangle sacrifice.
Bonnie looked around, with a bloody face. "Oops," she turned to Abby, who was being helped up by Elijah. "Abby, you ok?"
"You defended me,"
"Of course I did. I'll always defend you. What the hell was that shit that Esther threw on you?"
"Some sort of acid. It stopped burning as soon as you took the bitch out," she looked somberly at Elijah.
"The bitch needed to go," he said with a shrug and a coy smile in his eyes that was clearly only meant for Abby.
"Thank you, Bonnie," Abby said warmly, giving her daughter a smile. Then she handed her a napkin from her pocket. "You've got a little of the uh,"
Bonnie took it and wiped her face the best she could.
"You really can't see there's more to live for?" Klaus was getting exasperated talking to Finn, who was still in his grasp.
"I see no point. There is only pain. Suffering and I refuse to contribute to it any longer, nor will I ever be content with being a monster. This is no way to live, Niklaus," he raised his chin in haughty arrogance. Finn truly believed he was above that which he considered an abomination, the monstrosity that his siblings had become. It was clear he was determined to separate himself from it. Bonnie felt a twinge of remorse for him, being recently separated from her magic, she still found it hard to adjust. She definitely felt like a monster at times and aimed not to kill her prey, unless their black auras compelled her to.
"No, certainly not, given that perspective," Klaus huffed. "Come, I have someone I'd like you to meet," he said, releasing his hold on him. Klaus began walking, but Finn only frowned, reluctant to follow as he was being watched by Elijah, Kol, and Rebekah. "Please," Klaus added. "Finn, you can't kill us and we can't kill you. You might as well get used to life in 2010," he waved his hands in an exasperated gesture before he continued walking.
"Meet who?" Rebekah asked, following after Klaus.
Finn straightened his suit and started after them, first throwing another glance in Elijah and Kol's direction. Great, it looked like Finn was back in the picture. More family squabbles to come as Kol bickered with him the most.
"Bonnie, your father will be home tonight," Abby said, somewhat remorsefully as she began to leave with Elijah. "That means no vampires allowed at the house for a week," she snapped at Kol.
Kol, who was surveying the carnage around him, looked up and gave Bonnie a slow smile that made her swoon inside. He went to stand next to her and gave her a shoulder nudge. "Two things,"
"What's that?"
"You looked badass dispatching my dear old mum, and you also aided in her expression triangle. It's now complete,"
Bonnie only looked at him carefully. "And?"
"And now we're closer to the risk of raising Silas and bringing about hell on earth. We can't let that happen. The ambush you and Elijah stumbled upon was merely a distraction, she intended for this either way,"
"Well, what now?"
Kol sighed, stepping closer and cradling Bonnie's face in his hands. "Best not to trouble your pretty head over it. At least not tonight, but it will certainly be tomorrow's problems. Tonight is for us and only us,"
"Fuck that, we need to go find Ric!" Bonnie exclaimed. "He's out to kill us!"
"Bonnie," he said softly but firmly. "Let it go. Tonight is about you and I," he repeated. The urge for Bonnie was getting stronger and Kol knew they'd eventually have to give in to it. She would hate him forever if they moved any faster than they already have, which was why Kol found it so important they had a proper courtship. He intended for her to accept him as he was, feelings and emotions from the sire bond aside. If she genuinely liked him, then this would go over smoothly.
And just like that, the worry that she had dissipated. Damn him and his sire bond! All that was left was a small nagging in the back of her mind that he was bending her will over something important but it didn't feel like such a pressing matter. That irked her and she had no choice but to let it go. She sighed.
"What are we going to do with all these bodies?" Bonnie asked, looking around.
"Nick's hybrids will be on to the task. Come now. We've a proper date to prepare for,"
~ On the road ~
So if it's just tonight
The animal inside
Let it live and die
This is our last chance
Give me your hand
'Cause our world is spinning at the speed of light
The night is fading
Heart is racing
Now just come love me like we're gonna die
Animal -by Kesha
"What kind of new car doesn't have a spare tire?" Bonnie asked with a groan as she leaned against Kol's car. "And what kind of person doesn't check that sort of thing before buying said new car?"
"Probably the kind of person who doesn't actually need to travel by way of motor vehicle when they can travel almost anywhere they need to on foot. It's much faster or have you not noticed?" Kol remarked as he inspected the tire damage. He could see there were multiple nails in it, his car had been tampered with which contributed to the tire busting on the way to a concert.
Bonnie would likely panic if he informed her of that revelation, especially since they were out in the middle of nowhere. He decided to keep that to himself, he and Bonnie would both sense danger if it was lurking nearby.
"If you're having trouble adjusting to the modern century, just say that. I'm calling a tow truck,"
While Bonnie was on the phone, Kol realized the time it took for the tow truck to arrive, they would be late. This whole thing was a disaster, he hadn't even told Bonnie where they were going, just that it was a surprise that she'd enjoy. In the next town over, a contemporary musician Bonnie was fond of called Ke$ha was hosting an exclusive private concert and Kol intended to bring Bonnie to it.
"Why don't we continue ahead? Otherwise, we're going to be late," Kol suggested, eager to stick to his plans.
"Kol no, if I go that fast for that long it's going to ruin my hair, my dress, and these shoes. Hunny, issa no for me,"
Bonnie was wearing a strappy cut-out dress in orange and bright magenta that emphasized her form and accentuated her deliciously round bum. Her hair, edges slayed by the gods had been curled and pinned carefully to her left side where it tumbled down in sultry waves. The stilettos also elongated her legs and brought her up to Kol's eye line. He couldn't deny his girl was serving a fine damn look.
His girl. It was practically official, the moment he'd been waiting for since they'd first kissed outside of her home the night they met. It was the point of no return for him, and as fate would have it, his blood would run through her veins, being his vampire. His girl.
"I gather the feeling you'd look lovely in a burlap sack," he sighed. "Surely you think this the date from hell. I promise you, Bonnie, I will make this up to you,"
She only shrugged and shook off the sentiment. "It's not a huge deal. Where were we going anyway? What was the big surprise?"
Kol leaned into the seat on the driver's side and hit the switches to play music. Ke$ha's song Animal began to play and he turned the volume up full blast.
"We were supposed to attend a private concert with your beloved artist Ke$ha. But, given the circumstances…" he reached for Bonnie's hands. "May I have this dance?"
Bonnie took his hands. "You were taking me to see Ke$ha?" She asked in awe.
"Another time, I promise darling," Kol placed her arms around his neck and his hands around the small of her waist. Bonnie squealed and thanked him, pulling him closer.
"I've done nothing but this ill-fated attempt at-"
Bonnie released him and they began to sway. "It's the thought that counts, Kol. I didn't know you could be so thoughtful,"
"I'm not usually," he admitted.
Bonnie smirked. "Oh, come on. Don't act like there's not one good bone in your body,"
"Maybe just one," The way she looked that night, the look in her eyes as he held her in a slow dance imprinted on his core memories. This was a moment with his beautiful mate he would never forget. Whether she knew it or not, she was officially his, in name, in mark, in blood. It didn't matter that Klaus's blood had penetrated her system, it was on its way out by now. Bonnie was Kol's girl, forever and this was the first time she looked happy about it. He'd done it, without the sire bond, of something derived of his own imagination, he'd finally done something that made her bloody fucking happy.
"You look breathtakingly beautiful tonight," he told her softly. "In fact more beautiful than I've ever seen,"
"So do you," Bonnie whispered back.
A sly smile curled the edges of his lips. "Do you know what makes you such an incredibly glowing beauty tonight?" She waited for his response, gazing at him in wonder. "The fact that you look so happy. It warms my heart to witness it. Happiness is a most exquisite look on you,"
Bonni gave him her signature bottom lip-biting smile. Her smile was like the sunrise, on an early summer morning where the excitement of the day fills the air. Kol hoped she'd always look at him in that way.
"I'm already looking forward to a second date," she remarked, pressing her forehead against his.
~Lunch on Saturday afternoon~
Lunch with both her parents wasn't as awkward as she thought it would be, that is until it did get awkward. Rudy asked all the polite catch-up questions, and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Until he began asking about school.
"How's school?" He asked before he stabbed into his steak. "Your grades?"
"They could be better," Bonnie said quietly.
"That's disappointing to hear,"
"Buuut, she is catching up, right Bonnie?" Abby offered, looking pointedly at Bonnie.
"Of course," the baby vampire agreed.
"Bonnie, in all the years I've had you, you've never fallen behind in school. Is this because of the boy you're seeing or is it because of your vampirism?" He put his fork down and folded his arms on the table, looking from Abby to Bonnie, expectantly.
"How did you-" Abby began.
"Mom, you told Dad?!" Bonnie whispered loudly. Abby shook her head.
"You don't think I know what's going on in my daughter's life? And why your mother didn't tell me is beyond my comprehension but I won't tolerate this, Abby. From either of you. In fact, you aren't welcome in my house anymore," he spoke so calmly and resolutely, it gave Bonnie and Abby an eerie feeling.
"Rudy, don't be ridiculous, it's my house too since we're still married," Abby said.
"But," he continued, disregarding Abby's statement. "If you want to help our daughter, you'll stay in town. I know what you're doing and I can help."
This fool was speaking in a hushed but still normal voice. If any vampires were lurking on the block, they'd hear him. Abby quickly came up with a spell to issue a mystical audio barrier so no vampires not present wouldn't be able to eavesdrop on their conversation. The advantage was that there were no vampires in The Grille.
Bonnie became flustered. Rudy's stipulations would not go over well with the Original Vampire population, namely Kol. It was best her dad forget all he knew about his daughter being a vampire. She peered into his eyes. "Dad," she said softly. "I'm not a vampire. Forget anything you know about that, and you're not gonna kick Mom out,"
Rudy blinked a look of dismay. "Trying to compel your own father? This is the influence of that vampire you let her hang around, isn't it?" He snapped at Abby, who scowled in return.
"You wanna help? Then let go of your expectations, Rudy. You can't control vampires if you don't have magic, I think you need to take a seat and think about this,"
"Vervain. I should've known," Bonnie sat back and lowered her eyes. "Dad, you need to stay out of this, it's dangerous!"
"I don't need vervain, Bonnie. I can't be compelled. And it is dangerous, especially for you,"
"I am a vampire, how am I going to stay out of it? And what do you mean help? With what?"
Just then, Bonnie felt the pull of Kol summoning her. Bad fucking timing, Kol! She stood up quickly. "I have to go,"
Rudy stood up as well, stepping in front of her. "You're not going anywhere, we're not done talking,"
Bonnie looked pained and looked to Abby. "Mom! He's calling for me,"
Abby nodded and lifted her hands and the lights flickered. Suddenly, everyone in the establishment was moving in extra slow motion, it was almost as if they were frozen.
"Abby, what are you-"
"She has to go, Rudy! Look at her!" Bonnie had nearly collapsed with the pain of being held from the pull that demanded her. "She's hurting!"
Rudy held her in his arms. "How do we help her?!"
"She has to go to him, let her go," Abby looked at her estranged husband's reluctant expression. "She'll be fine, he cares for her and protects her," Bonnie cried out in pain before Rudy stepped aside.
Instant relief filled her form when her father stepped aside and she stepped forward. "I'm sorry, Daddy, I have to go!" she flashed outside and down the street when suddenly the pull was gone. Bonnie looked around when she felt arms wrap around her and she was flashed off.
When she was released from her hostage situation, Bonnie whipped around and was horrified to realize she was staring into the crystal blue eyes of Klaus Mikaelson. She stepped back in horror and disbelief.
Oh God, why?!
"You can't summon me!"
Klaus just smirked and watched her.
"Of course, he can't," Kol said, stepping out from behind her. "He's had me do it,"
Bonnie turned around and rushed into his arms. Kol enclosed her in his arms and glared at his brother. He could tell Bonnie was slightly intimidated at the fact that Klaus had dragged her out here, but he could also tell that she felt safe as soon as she was in his arms. It warmed his heart.
Klaus scoffed. "You two are quite cute with this eternal sire bond thing you've got going on, it's quite nauseating. It's a shame, little witch, that your father is in line to be the new town mayor, and as such is planning on ridding the town of vampires. I don't think he likes Kol very much,"
"And your mother is planning on helping him somehow, but she plans to have you out of the way first. The cure might be one way, but I think she's working on a spell to rid you of your vampirism. Though, I can't get her to come clean," Kol narrowed his eyes down at Bonnie. "That is where you come in, darling,"
Bonnie's heart dropped. If Abby was working on something to save Bonnie from her vampirism, that was her right as her mother and the witch she was. Klaus and Kol shouldn't have any concerns on that, but of course, these were the Originals. Anyone who refused them was probably dead. Only she knew it was unlikely she'd be killed but she'd be forced to do whatever it was that they wanted her to do. It was just as bad, two men who'd never been told no in their life, they would get what they seek, one way or another.
She peeled herself out of Kol's arms, jerking away from him. The loss of physical contact was like being thrust out into cold weather when you were warm and cozy inside, next to a fireplace. Kol silently lamented.
"I'm not going to stop her and neither of you can make me. That's my mother. I know yours wasn't shit but I care about Abby! You can't make me, Kol. If you care about me at all," she shook her head, stepping back, though she was caught between the two Originals. "You won't."
It was understandable that Bonnie would feel that way, that he would use the sire bond to make Bonnie do something against her will. Or that Klaus would enforce it. There was nothing more he wanted to do than ease her mind.
"Love, I gave her my word I would keep you safe. I'm not asking you to stop her, if she's working on something that will keep you safe, I need to know what. I'm asking you Bonnie to find out,"
"And find out the Mayor's plans for vampires," Klaus added.
"How do I know you won't try to stop them?"
Klaus heaved an exasperated sigh and whirled Bonnie around to face him. "Enough of this back and forth. You'll do it or Kol will use the sire bond to get you in line. Or I'll drain your blood of vervain and compel you. You don't actually have a choice, Miss Bennett,"
Bonnie looked back at Kol. "Do I?"
He was so gentle and sweet the night before, that was who she needed on her side if he truly cared for her. All that effort couldn't have been for naught.
He frowned. "It's in your best interest to cooperate," he insisted, wishing she could understand that was the entire truth. Instead, Bonnie's expression went from expectant to hurt.
"There is no choice, is there? Only coercion and violent threats," she sneered in Klaus's direction.
"Bonnie,"
"What the hell was last night about then? It was all lies, wasn't it? You don't actually care about what I want. It's not my happiness that matters, it's yours no matter what the cost is to me. If my parents end up dead because of this, I will never forgive you,"
Kol had heard enough. Bonnie was merely making empty threats on the chance that angering Kol would sway him to forgo the plan. It would not.
"Yes you will," he hissed in her face. He ignored Klaus's chucking and bore into Bonnie's eyes, willing her to concede. "And you will act as our informant,"
She gasped in disbelief. "Fine," she said through her teeth as a single tear ran down her cheek. "But don't you ever try to come near me again. EVER!" She screamed before she sped off.
Kol was unbelievable. She didn't know who the hell he was last night because the person before wasn't being caring, patient, or gentle with her at all. He had been hot and cold and effectively giving her emotional whiplash since she met him. Forever was a long time to have to put up with his shit, and apparently, that's how long Kol would have this hold, this power, this unjustified authority over her. Forever was beginning to feel like too much. It felt better to never have to see Kol again, not if things would always be this way. Pity for Bonnie, that was not possible.
Klaus went to stand next to Kol. "She'll come around. It may take a few centuries, but she will. Of course, if she's made human again, her quarrel with you may be a shorter reprieve," he laughed again. "Perhaps she'll take it to the grave,"
Not amused in the least, Kol stood there calmly and without words for a moment before he used his Original vampire speed to snap Klaus's neck. " 'Work together as brothers again,' Finn said. 'It will be good for you both' he said. As usual, you're wrong again, Finn,"
He stepped over Klaus's temporary corpse and slowly walked away, silently fuming at the fact that listening to his brother's now had Bonnie unbelievably cross with him.
~ A visit to Whitmore ~
On Monday, Bonnie accompanied her parents to Whitmore College where Grams had taught an Occult Studies course. Rudy had sent them here to speak to Professor Shane, who had taken over for Grams and was an ally to their cause of keeping their daughter safe. How that was possible, Bonnie was unsure but she had to see for herself and see what this professor had to say.
Once they entered the building to the office, Abby stopped and let her magic pulse through the air. "Go to his office, I need to check something,"
"What is it?"
"A vampire might be lurking nearby,"
"Shouldn't I go with you?" Bonnie turned in the direction Abby had turned in but her mother shook her head.
"No, it could be Saltzman. I'm protected Bonnie, if a vampire sneaks up on me, they're going to be sorry. I'll be right behind you,"
Bonnie acquiesced and headed down the hall and opened the door leading to the hallway in which Gram's former office was located. She heard another door open and close, it was the door to Gram's office. Kol was casually strolling down the corridor towards her with a cheeky smile, slowing down to a near stop when he neared her. Bonnie hardly spared him a glance and kept walking, prompting Kol to step backward until he stepped right in front of Bonnie, effectively blocking her way. She stepped to the side only he did too, blocking her way.
She crossed her arms and avoided his gaze by turning her head away from him.
"Hello stranger,"
"What do you want, Kol?"
"For a moment I wasn't sure you'd recognize me. Seeing as how you've literally been the equivalent of a stranger over the weekend,"
She shrugged. "When I say stay away from me, I mean it. I haven't even learned anything yet, that's why I'm here. Sooo, you'll just have to be patient, I suppose,"
"You suppose?"
"I do,"
Kol smirked. "The longer you avoid me, the more it's going to hurt once the mate bond takes effect. It doesn't want us apart," he said, raising his brows. "I have no desire to see you hurt,"
If that were true then you wouldn't be forcing me to be a spy for Klaus! Kol undid the buttons on his coat- was that a new coat? It looked great on him - and took Bonnie's hand, placing it on his chest where his heart thumped underneath.
"You're going to feel it right in here, your heart breaking, the longer you avoid me," he said almost in a whisper. He released her hand but she let it linger. He placed his own hand on her heart. "If you haven't already,"
The effects of being away from your mate too long when the other was calling for you, was a thing Lexi had warned her about. It was sort of a supernatural loophole of resolving a fight, only Bonnie felt this wouldn't be resolved until he released her. She knew she'd return to him, she just wasn't ready so she figured she'd take on the anguish for now.
"I have to go," she murmured. It was hard to be around him and not hold him and kiss him and she was sure Kol knew it, too. "I'll get you the information you want,"
"No need. He's dead. So you don't-"
Bonnie snatched her hand away from his chest and shoved Kol's off hers. "You killed him?!"
"Oh yes, just now,"
Bonnie ran into the office. Sure enough, there was a man impaled, on the ground.
"You must understand why I did this, sweetness," Kol said from the doorway. "I'm certain he was the key to whatever your parents are trying to do. I've made it so you don't have to betray their trust or attempt to stop them after all. Your work for me and Nik is done with. It's my hope that Abby will consult with me on how she plans on protecting you from your vampirism now. As long as it's not the cure, I'm willing to help,"
"You just killed an innocent person in my Gram's old office. She died because I got mixed up with vampires, Kol, why would you even- know what, I'm fucking out of here,"
Bonnie attempted to flash out of the door but Kol caught her. "He is not innocent!" He hissed before he plunged a vervain syringe into her neck.
Bonnie collapsed in his arms and he lifted her into his arms. When he stepped out of the office, Abby was coming down the corridor. Thinking quickly, he rushed towards her.
"Mumsie! Your professor is a traitor, he can't be trusted. He's threatened her and taken vervain to her. A concentrated dose, she's severely weakened,"
"Oh fuck this! I should've known it was you. I suppose he's dead too?"
The look on his face indicated nothing other than duh! "Why would I let anyone live who threatens our girl? The Gilbert boy was the only exception, I won't let it happen again,"
"What do you mean he threatened her?"
"Where can we go to talk?" Kol just needed to get Bonnie somewhere safe so he could explain what this Atticus Shane told him.
Abby sighed. "My mom's house, here,"
Abby put her hand on his shoulder and recited something under her breath. In the blink of an eye, they were standing in the middle of Sheila Bennett's living room. Abby noticed Kol wasn't suffocating, indicating he already had an invitation here. That sneaky little shit! Abby sure as hell didn't invite him in. There wasn't time to argue over that now, she needed the 411 on Professor Shane.
Kol laid Bonnie down on the couch and beckoned Abby to follow him into the dining room. He leaned against the wall and sighed, staring up at the ceiling. "I know you placed a protection spell on him." He cast his gaze to Abby. "You shouldn't have done that, Ms. Bennett. He intends to kill an entire legion of vampires, your daughter included if it serves his greater purpose."
"What purpose would that be?"
"He wants to raise Silas. He's gone mental like a mad scientist. He believes that by raising Silas, he will be reunited with his deceased family."
Abby gasped. "What about the cure?!"
"So that was your plan? Abigail, give it up! It's a risk on all of mankind to obtain that cure and the Professor doesn't even want the cure, he only wants Silas. He's using you and Bonnie as pawns in his plan,"
"Kol, we can get the cure for Bonnie without Shane and Silas can fuck off,"
"You don't understand. He is the one who orchestrated the expression triangle, not my mother. If he succeeds in raising Silas, we will all die. It will be armageddon unleashed."
Abby shuddered. His conviction to his anti-Silas crusade was frightening. "You really believe that?"
Kol nodded. "It's been prophesied for centuries, all the signs are there," he backed off the wall and came to tower over Abby. "So if you have another way of relieving Bonnie of her vampire curse, I need to know. Please Mumsie, we must cease the hunt for the cure,"
Abby shifted, contemplating. This could be the only opportunity she had to save her daughter from a vampire fate. "Kol, I told you. I'm going to save my daughter with or without your help. But if I tell you what I'm doing, you know what you have to do," Kol's heart sank, he should've seen this coming. "Release her from your sire bond,"
AN: That hallways scene lol I remember when I first seen it I was like hey it's him! That's Kol! And I was wondering why tf Bonnie smiled at him, but it was because she didn't recognize him at first. I sho did! Haha.
I have been toying with this chapter since my last update. And I've got a bad habit of working on the later parts of the story because it just calls to me in those times, probably because they're a lot juicier. (I can't wait to share them!)
And then NYE happened and it wasn't pretty at all so I had to work out my frustrations through some more later chapters.
I'm still doing that, but it's getting there! I realized I had enough content for a new update days ago and I was going to publish this after I fine tuned it, until I had a dream that I was having a baby with Kol and he wasn't at the baby shower. (I've found Snapchat memories where I was in love with Kol years ago lol my affinity for him makes so much more sense now. It's always a revelation for me every time I remember how much I adored him because I am Dory) weird cuz I never forget how much I loved Elijah, Stefan, or Enzo.
Anyway, I was angry that he would leave me hanging in my dreams 😤 so this was going to be the chapter where Kol and Bonnie officially became a couple but now I'm making him wait for disappointing me in my dreams. Hopefully he won't try that again! Lol I hope you enjoy my inane ramblings as much as I enjoy making them.
Thank you for reading, please do not forget to share, add comments, kudos, let me know if you are enjoying.
