Sand flew in a spiral as the candy-colored motorcycle jerked to a stop. As the cloud of sand cleared the mainland of Destiny Island came into view. With a hop, Olivia turned her eyes landing on an island out on the water.
"I wonder where we are," Lucas whispered
"Welcome to Destiny Island."
Whipping around the duo were met with striking electric yellow eyes. Their owner had dirty brown curls tied back by a green bandana. She wore a bored expression as she looked over at them.
She sat on a porch swing on the lawn of the nearest house. The home was modest painted in faded red with gold shutters and a black door. Colorful flowers rested in the windows. Slowly the door opened and an older Kairi stepped out glaring weakly at them.
"Are you here to look, teacher ?" She mumbled taking in the sight of the pair
"No we're just lost travelers," Lucas announced
Instinctively Kairi turned to the skyline. At the sight of the sunset, she froze. It had been a sunset like this when she had lost Sora. Blinking away her sorrow she turned to the door. Holding it open she glanced back at them.
"Come on, bad things happen when the sunsets." She said ominously
Entering the home the pair froze in their tracks. Destiny's Embrace hung from one of the walls. It looked as if the blade hadn't been used in many years. The older Kairi stood resting against an archway. Time had been kind to her after the loss of her love.
"Take my advice kids, go home," Kairi said simply
"Look, lady, our adventure just started we can't just." Olivia blurted
"It's not a game! There's far worse than heartless among the other worlds." Kairi snapped
She sighed to herself as a smile came to her lips. She couldn't deny that possible allies were also there. Her hand rose to her neck touching her necklace. It was the one Sora once wore. Think of his carefree smile she blinked away a tear.
"What do you know about world traveling?" The retired warrior questioned
"Enough, just not where we're going," Lucas muttered
"That's half the fun," Kairi replied with a laugh
The sun was just beginning to rise as a thump was heard. Jolting awake the traveling pair rolled from their bed. Stumbling to the window of the room Kairi had let them stay in they glanced out. Strelitzia stood in the grass in the backyard wielding a keyblade. Her grip was shaking as if she had been training for a while.
The blade was that of molten metal formed like a blade with three bolts of lightning as the key. The handle was now that of a sword with three lightning bolts around it. The keychain was a hammer and a lightning bolt.
In front of the young trainee stood a battered target. The wooden training dummy was covered in slash and burn marks of differing sizes, it lacked ahead is being replaced by a coconut.
Behind Strelitzia stood Kairi eyes set in a look of scrutiny. She watch as her trainee swung her blade throwing her entire body into the strike. Once the strike landed Kairi smiled in content touching her shoulder.
"That's enough, let's have breakfast," Kairi said smiling
The traveling pair met their hosts in the small kitchen. Watching their hosts enter Strelitzia's weapon vanished. Glancing at the small table the pair saw it. A navigation piece for their motorcycle. Looking to their host they were met with a kind smile.
"To help you find your way home, so you know how to get home," She said with the voice of a caring mother
"Thank you, Master Kairi," Olivia said with a bow
Kairi bowed in response turning to her fridge. It felt weird being addressed by her title after this long. She hadn't fought since she lost Sora. Smiling to herself she gathered what she needed to prepare breakfast.
"Would you be proud of me Sora?" She thought
Strelitzia's Gummyphone let out a subtly quiet ring from her pocket. Smiling to herself she answered revealing the face of Elrena smiling at her. The Savage Nymph smiled at the twirling her antenna on her finger. The trainee smiled back speaking first.
"Good morning mother." She chirped
"Good morning sweetie, how's your training?" Elrena asked smiling
"Great, she gets stronger every day she might be ready for combat soon," Kairi commented from her place at the stove
Elrena's eye twitched as lightning crackled around her. An angry sneer on her face as she glared murderously. From behind her came Flint his large hands rubbing her shoulders. Then all at once, her anger erupted in a fierce yell.
"We sent her to that damn island so she wouldn't have to fight!" Elrena snarled
"I'll take care of this, we love you, sweetheart," Flint mumbled hanging up
Kairi smiles leaning on the chair in front of her. Spinning an egg between her fingers she glanced at the trio. As the egg twirls, she asks.
"What do you guys want to eat?" She says halting the eggs spinning
