Booster Cable

(Booster Gold + Cable)

Name: Michael Summers

Biography: It's the 25th century and the Earth is in shambles. Humanity has been crushed under the heel of a ruthless madman who styles himself a god. It is an age of hopelessness. An age of desolation. An age of Adam (Apocalypse + Black Adam).

Michael Summers, descendent of the X-Patrol's (X-Men + Doom Patrol) field leader Psy-clops (Cyclops + Mento) and their most powerful member Elastix (Phoenix + Elasti-Girl), has trained his entire life and endured countless horrors, including a techno-organic virus that turned him into a golden cyborg, all for one single objective: to kill Adam before he can take over the world. For this mission, he, along with his robotic sidekick, Skoots (Skeets + Doop) broke into Adam's stronghold and stole a time machine so he could aid his ancestors and stop the apocalypse before it begins.

At least that was his story when he got here. The truth is, while Michael is from the 25th century, everything is fine. He isn't some grizzled soldier, he was just a college football star that was arrested for throwing games so he could make money gambling against his own team. He doesn't know if he really is a descendent of Psy-clops and Elastix, all he knows is that they're a famous superhero couple that he happens to share a last name with. And as far as he knew, he was definitely not a metamutant.

Once he was let out, he managed to get a job as a security guard for the Metropolis Space Museum. There, he stumbled upon the exhibit for 21st century superheroes and felt inspired to follow in their footsteps. Not to preserve truth and justice or anything like that, but to receive the fame and fortune he could never get in the 25th century. So he stole several artifacts from the museum, including Skoots who was also working as security, and used a time machine to travel back to the 21st century.

Once Michael came to the past, he asked Skoots if there were any upcoming crises at this point in time. Michael used this information to make his debut by saving the life of the current U.S. President. In front of a crowd of reporters, the president asked Michael for his name. Michael was originally going to call himself Cable, saying he was the "cable" between the past and the future. But he got nervous and accidentally introduced himself as Booster Cable instead, and the name stuck with him ever since.

He then decided to join the X-Patrol and since he saved the president's life, the Professor (The Chief + Professor X) decided it would look good if they let him on the team, even though he could tell right away that he was a phony.

It shouldn't be a surprise that Booster Cable saying he came back to kill Adam would draw the ancient supervillain's attention. Adam kidnapped Michael and, even after realizing he was full of it, decided that it was better to err on the side of caution. So he infected him with a real techno-organic virus, one that would convert his entire body into cold, unfeeling steel.

As the virus converted the left half of his body, Michael was certain he was gonna die. But then, something completely unexpected happened: Michael managed to stop the virus from infecting the rest of his body. And after a timely rescue from Skoots, discovered that he actually was a metamutant, and a powerful one at that. Using his newfound abilities, he did the unthinkable and managed to have Adam at his mercy. Before he could deliver the final blow however, a man appeared literally out of nowhere and stopped him.

This was Rip M. Hunter (Rip Hunter + Mobius M. Mobius), agent of the Time Authority (Time Masters + Time Variance Authority). He explained to Booster Cable why he can't kill Adam. As far as the timeline is concerned, Booster Cable is a nobody. But it's actually for his own benefit that they see him like that, because if any evil time travelers decided to take him seriously they wouldn't just kill him, they'd make it so he never existed.

Understandably upset that he could never get the wealth and adulation he craved, Rip gave Michael the opportunity to be a real hero by traveling with him throughout history and protecting the timestream. It wasn't what he initially wanted, but Michael saw how dangerous messing with time is and decided to accept Rip's offer. From that day on, Booster Cable was content to play the fool if it meant safeguarding history, becoming the greatest hero you've never heard of.

Powers & Abilities: As befitting his gruff and gritty facade, Booster Cable relies on a plurality of firearms as a means of offense. Rather than shooting bullets however, they fire bolts or streams of energy he calls "booster shots." Hey, got to lean into that brand synergy.

Before discovering his metamutant powers, Booster Cable relied on his arsenal of stolen weapons to give the illusion of superpowers. He used a ring from the Legion of Galactic Guardians (Legion of Superheroes + Guardians of the Galaxy I) to fly at superhuman speeds and a belt that can project an impenetrable forcefield. This forcefield is adjustable, able to wrap around his entire body and even expand to cover a whole planet. He can also use it on other people or objects, either trapping them inside or crushing them into nothingness. These were incorporated into his body when he became a cyborg.

After becoming a cyborg and developing his metamutant powers, Booster Cable became a force to be reckoned with. His cybernetic body grants him enhanced strength and endurance, though mostly on his left side. It also gave him a real cybernetic eye, one that can see across the entire electromagnetic spectrum and look at objects 200 miles away. The drawback is that if he isn't constantly using his telekinetic powers to push back the virus, it will take over and kill him.

Speaking of, Booster Cable is potentially one of the strongest psychics the world has ever seen, being able to manipulate matter at an atomic level. This not only stops the virus from spreading, it allows him to shift and change the metal parts of his body any way he wishes.

His psionic powers are just as impressive. With them, he can fire blasts of psionic energy and take control of people's minds. But even more impressive than that, he can freeze people in time, teleport anywhere in the world and even time travel without a time machine.

Appearance: Michael was born with blond hair and blue eyes. As part of his cyborg persona, he wore a gold, metal arm over his real one and a glowing yellow contact over his left eye. After being infected by the virus, these became real.

Booster Cable's X-Patrol outfit covers his body except for his metallic left arm. It has a yellow chest and right shoulder with a blue "X" in a circle in the center of his chest. The costume's lower half includes yellow legs and big blue boots with kneepads. Booster Cable also wears yellow gloves over both his hands.
