Name: James Thawne
Biography: In the year 2451, lived a man utterly obsessed with one of the greatest superheroes of the 21st century, Pietro Allen, the original Silver Flash (Flash + Quicksilver). This man, James Thawne, had dedicated his life to studying every single aspect of his hero. So it didn't surprise anybody when he accepted a job at Central City's Silver Flash Museum. There, he would spend his days learning everything possible about the Silver Speedster.
During his time working at the museum, James discovered the source of the Silver Flash's powers, the Speed Force, an alternate dimension of unlimited kinetic energy. He realized that if he could find a way to tap into the Speed Force, he could become exactly like his idol. So he spent years trying to harness the Speed Force for himself. But no matter what he did, all his attempts to become the next Silver Flash ended in failure.
Then one day, he received help from the least likely of sources. He was visited by an Elder of the Endless (Elders of the Universe + The Endless), beings who embody various concepts of the universe. The Elders have been here since the beginning of time and they will be there at the end of it. This specific Elder was Delight (Delirium + The Grandmaster), the personification of fun, and he had his fun by playing games.
This time, Delight was playing a game with a supervillain known as the Time Conqueror (Kang + Time Trapper) who wagered that Delight couldn't create a team that could destroy the Avengers League (Avengers + Justice League). The Elder accepted and thus, travelled through time and space recruiting and creating supervillains in the hopes of winning his bet. And at this moment, he decided that James Thawne would be a perfect piece in his game.
Delight offered Thawne the knowledge he needed to access the Speed Force but in exchange, he would use his new powers to aid him in his bet and defeat the Avengers League. James accepted and just like Delight promised, he suddenly knew things about the Speed Force he couldn't possibly have known naturally. With this knowledge, James was able to enter the Speed Force and gain the same incredible speed of his idol. It was like a dream come true.
That dream turned into a nightmare when Thawne and the other villains faced the Avengers League, with James being forced to fight the Silver Flash himself. To his surprise, his hero already recognized him, and he hated him. During his battle, he learned that the two of them were bitter archenemies and the Silver Flash especially hated him because he had recently tried to kill Pietro's wife, Rebecca (Rebecca Kaplan + Iris West) on their wedding day.
After Delight and his team had lost, James was besides himself with disbelief. He had just met the Silver Flash and he said that they were archenemies? He couldn't believe it. He had heard tales of the Silver Flash's nemesis, whose identity had been lost to history, but it couldn't possibly have been him. Could it?
James decided that he needed to find out for himself. So, using the Silver Flash Museum's Cosmic Treadmill, he travelled back in time to the early days of the Silver Flash's career and visited the museum of that time period. There he saw an exhibit of the Silver Flash's most monstrous foe, a demon that had dedicated his life to destroying him and everything he cared for. The name of the villain that had been such a major thorn to Pietro's side? James Thawne.
It was true. James and the Silver Flash would never be friends. Destiny itself had decreed that the two of them could only ever be enemies. Well, if that's the role he must play, then he would be the greatest enemy a hero could ever have, a nightmare that would haunt him until the end of his days. He'd become the Demon-Flash.
Thawne travelled back to the future and, after making some changes to his costume, created a counter to the Speed Force, the Negative Speed Force, which gave him all the powers of the Silver Flash and so much more. He then started the animosity between him and Pietro by going back to his childhood and making him absolutely miserable.
From pushing him down a flight of stairs to keeping his best friend from being born, Pietro's childhood was absolutely miserable because of Thawne. However, nothing would top James brutally murdering Pietro's mother in front of him and framing his father for the crime.
His next order of business was to travel to the future, after Pietro had sacrificed himself to stop the Anti-Beyonder (Anti-Monitor + Beyonder) from destroying the multiverse. He entered the Speed Force and, by making him think the real world needed him, tricked Pietro into escaping the Speed Force and coming back to life. Once he returned, the Demon-Flash confronted the Silver Flash and told him about how he was responsible for all his childhood misery.
This lead to an epic and grueling battle between the two but ultimately, the Silver Flash's experience lead to Thawne's defeat and he was placed in a custom cell made to contain speedsters. But it was fine, Thawne knew he'd escape. And even if he didn't, he and Pietro Allen now shared a bond that could never be broken. And nothing could ever take that away from him.
Powers & Abilities: As an intentional reverse of Pietro and the Speed Force, Thawne draws his powers from the Negative Speed Force, giving him powers similar to the Silver Flash and quite a few that are very different.
He still has the same insane speed and the strength boost necessary to handle it. Just like the Silver Flash, he can heal fast, create cyclones by running in circles or spinning his arms, and vibrate his molecules at just the right speed to turn intangible. Even his voice is fast, Thawne can speak at such high frequencies, he can hypnotize people to behave and act however he wants them to.
He can also generate lightning that he can throw as a projectile, create powerful shockwaves with just a snap of his fingers, and run so fast he can travel through time and enter other dimensions. And unlike other Flashes who can absorb speed, the Demon-Flash can absorb time, making people age decades in only a matter of seconds.
Appearance: James Thawne has Caucasian skin, blond hair, and blue eyes.
He wears a black costume that covers his body with a mask that leaves his nose and the lower half of his face uncovered and a pair of red goggles over his eyes.. He also wears red boots and gloves and a red zig-zagging belt. On his chest is a circular, yellow emblem with a red border and a red lightning bolt through it that points down and to the left.
