Hellhound
(Wolverine + Etrigan)
Name: Jason Howlett/Etrigan/Logan
Biography: All of us have our inner demons to deal with. Our struggles, our doubts, our fears. Oftentimes the first step to conquering your demons is to embrace them, to accept them as part of yourself before you can begin the road to healing. In the case of our main subject, his demons being a part of him became all too literal and would make him more lost than he had ever been.
Our story begins in medieval England with a young boy named Jason Howlett. Born to wealthy nobles, Jason was often too sick and frail to play outside and spent the majority of his time in his family's estate. Then everything changed when his family's groundskeeper broke into the estate and killed his parents in front of Jason.
In that moment, two things came out of the boy: razor sharp bone claws that pierced through his hands and an animalistic ferocity that he had never felt before. He lunged at his parents' murderer, piercing his heart and killing him on the spot.
His family dead, Jason left the estate and ran into the woods. He ran until he collapsed from exhaustion and just before he lost consciousness, he looked up and saw a figure standing over him. When he woke up, he was lying in bed and being tended to by the beautiful woman he ever met. This was Morgan Le Fay and from this day on, she became Jason's new mother, raising him alongside her biological son, Mordred.
As Jason grew up, he discovered more powers, like keen animal senses and an ability to heal from nearly any wound instantaneously. As he reached manhood, Morgan instructed him to join King Arthur's army as one of his knights. From there, he would position himself to open the castle gates when she and her army invade Camelot.
Jason followed her orders and would go on to earn the trust of Camelot's royal wizard, Merlin. Merlin told Jason that he worried that Morgan Le Fay might launch an attack against her brother, the king. So he asked Jason if he could bind his soul with a powerful demon prince named Etrigan.
Etrigan was a devil so devious and powerful that not even his father, Belial, could handle him. With his power, they might be able to stop Le Fay should she ever try to conquer Camelot. The problem is that binding their souls would not only stop Jason from aging, it would cause the demon to influence his behavior and vice versa. Jason accepted and Merlin cast the spell, not knowing he was handing over Camelot's trump card to Le Fay's spy.
The day of Morgan's invasion came. Jason ordered the guards at the front gate to leave, allowing him to remove the barricade and let Le Fay's monsters through. Morgan thanked Jason with a kiss on the cheek, and the treacherous knight fell to his knees.
The witch's lips had been poisoned. Already, Jason could already feel his life ebbing away. When he asked her why, Morgan explained that this invasion was for her son, her real son. Jason was just a means to that end. And now that he's served his purpose, he was no longer necessary.
As she walked away, Jason felt that same ferocity, that animalistic rage which drove him to kill his parents' murderer all those years ago. Tapping into this fury, Jason cast the spell Merlin taught him, the one that would summon the beast so he could claim his vengeance.
"Change! Change, O form of man!
Free the prince forever damned!
Release the might from fleshy mire!
Boil the blood in heart of fire!
Gone! Gone! — the form of man —
Rise, the Demon Etrigan!"
Then, everything disappeared and when Jason returned, Morgan, King Arthur, Merlin, all of Camelot's people were nowhere to be found and Camelot itself was naught but ash.
From that moment on, Jason wandered the Earth, unable to die because of the demon inside of him. Adopting the name Logan, he tried to atone for his role in the destruction of Camelot, but the demon craved chaos and violence. They fought in countless wars over the centuries, from the Crusades to Vietnam, never allowing Logan to get attached to anybody.
Then one day, after getting drunk in a Canadian bar, Jason was drugged, beaten and kidnapped by operatives of the Blood X Project (Weapon X + Cult of Blood). Blood X used to be a joint venture with the US and Canadian government to create living weapons for military application. But then its leader, Sebastian Stryker (Brother Blood + William Stryker), cut Blood X off from both governments and turned the entire organization into a cult dedicated to awakening the demon god Trithon (Trigon + Chthon).
They heard stories about Jason and learned of his bond with Etrigan. They decided that Etrigan would make the perfect general for Trithon's army. Jason refused to summon Etrigan for them, so they subjected to countless horrific tortures and experiments to get him to do so. Finally, they found Merlin's spellbook and used it to forcibly separate the two beings from each other.
For centuries, Jason and Etrigan had dreamed of being free from each other, but that dream quickly became a nightmare as the man holding the book merged them together. This wasn't a simple bond but two beings bodies and souls slowly, painfully becoming one. The mental strain placed on them drove the Jason-Etrigan hybrid into killing everyone in the facility. Now nothing more than animalistic killing-machine, he ran into the cold Canadian wilderness.
Days later, the X-Patrol (X-Men + Doom Patrol) along with their founder, the Professor (Niles Caulder + Professor X) investigated these very woods. The Professor detected a metamutant (metahuman + mutant), and a powerful one at that, wandering these woods and hoped to ask them to join the team in their mission for coexistence.
It wasn't long before they encountered the hybrid, still locked in its animalistic state. It lunged at the X-Patrol, but the Professor used his psychic powers to calm him down and help him regain some of his mental faculties. The beast couldn't remember who he was and the Professor couldn't sift his memories to find it, everything was just a jumbled mess. He did manage to find a name though, Logan.
The fusion of demon and metamutant accepted this as his name and the Professor asked them to join the X-Patrol. With no memory of anywhere else he can go to, Logan accepted and became the team's deadliest member, Hellhound.
Though he wouldn't know it, Hellhound had finally found a real family and a chance to atone for his past sins. But just because he's amnestic doesn't mean he's not vicious. Jason, Etrigan, Logan, it doesn't matter what he's called or what he's been through. When it comes to shedding blood, he's the best there is.
Powers & Abilities: Hellhound's very unique nature grants him a multitude of powers. As part demon, he doesn't grow old and has enough strength, speed, agility, and durability to keep up with the likes of Super-Soldier (Superman + Captain America).
He possesses a healing factor strong enough to recover from practically any wound in seconds. His senses are so acute, they can easily rival any wild animal and allows him to essentially see in the dark.
One of Hellhound's more, uh, interesting powers is his masochism. Etrigan enjoyed feeling pain just as much as he liked giving it, which was a lot. This ability to experience pain as pleasure transferred over to Hellhound and allows him to keep going even in serious battles.
Etrigan and Jason Howlett respectively were masters of the mystical and martial arts. Hellhound doesn't remember everything they knew, but he's still an expert melee fighter whose gone on to train dozens of the Professor's students in hand-to-hand combat and if he learns about a spell, he's immediately able to cast it.
These are all abilities that were a part of Etrigan or Jason Howlett. Hellhound does have his own unique powers. Most notable are his hellfire claws. Jason's bone claws combined with Etrigan's demonic heritage resulted in these burning, footlong claws that jut out from his knuckles. Their intense heat and mystical nature allow them to cut through almost anything.
Something else unique to Hellhound is his berserker rage. If he's sufficiently angry enough, he'll lose all his mental functions and descend into the mindless beast he was when Blood X created him. Fortunately, this rage is only temporary and generally wears off when all his enemies are gone.
Appearance: Hellhound has yellow skin, completely red eyes, fangs, claws, no hair, tiny horns, and large fin-like ears that stretch down to his chin and up over his head.
His uniform with the X-Patrol consists of a red top with blue pointed stripes, one over each shoulder and three on each side of his abdomen. His hands are still bare.
The bottom includes red pants with blue boots that reach just below his knees and carries a black vertical line running down them.
He also wears black wristbands with gray spikes and a blue belt with a rectangular buckle containing black borders and a black "X" in the middle.
