Having survived the conclusion of the Sandbrook case, Hardy is now faced with the challenge of rebuilding his life, starting with his daughter. It isn't long before he's heading back to Broadchurch in desperate need of assistance.

It seemed like to Ellie that she couldn't do anything without Hardy coming along and stirring things up.

AU set during S2, SEQUEL to "Convalescence." Please read that story first! Alec and Ellie have been trying to find a new normal ever since Joe was arrested. After a dramatic trial, both are ready to begin new lives in Broadchurch-until Lee Ashworth returns from France and threatens Alec's daughter. Alec finds himself forced back into the Sandbrook case again, and Ellie with him.
