Author's Notes: I didn't have much work to do today so I finished writing this chapter.
"Alright since you and Clementine haven't really had any bad interactions you should tell her about it," Logan decided.
"And we're sure this is a good idea?" Nico asked.
"Definitely I have a good feeling about this," Logan answered.
"Well then let's go," Nico said.
They left the room. Logan went to confront Mary and Nico went to inform Clementine about the whole thing.
"Mary, are you in here?" Logan asked, knocking on her room's door.
"Nope she isn't," Anne replied through the door.
"Oh," Logan muttered, "Do you know where she is?"
"I'm pretty sure she went to the bell tower with Henry," Bethany informed him from within the room.
"Alright, thanks Bethany," Logan said.
"No problem," Bethany replied.
Logan power walked outside, he quite frankly had no clue there even was a bell tower. Since when he was outside his eyes were mostly drawn to the little burned down shit next to the dorms. He saw the bell tower and ran to the little entrance. The inside was a mess! Stairs were barely still on the wall if not already on the floor and not to mention some rubble from the walls.
"Oh fuck, I have to climb this!" Logan exclaimed.
He started climbing with caution since the shit seemed like it could fall apart if he grabbed the wrong thing.
A few close calls later he got up to the platform and saw Mary and Henry talking.
"Hey Mary!" Logan called, "Can I talk to you for a second?"
"Sure," she said.
"So y'know when we were fighting Gregory and you burned down a place without our knowledge?" Logan asked.
"Oh, alright I know that sounds bad, but they were suspicious I had to put an end to it and I barely had time to get in the back of the truck so I don't think anyone could have gone with me," Mary explained.
"It's not just about that," Logan sighed.
"Don't you think the people who shot at you in the woods might have been possibly connected to them?" Logan asked, "I sure as fuck don't think they're working with Gregory's decomposed mangled corpse!'
"I was trying to ensure that no one else would die and judging from how I got a good ninety percent of the people there. Then I''d say I improved our chances," Mary defended.
"You provoked the hornet's nest!" Logan shouted, "How long until they actually find where we are?"
"You did the same thing with Maren! Did you honestly think I didn't put the fucking pieces together when you both left early in the morning? When your dumbass or Clementine's dumbass does something reckless it's always fine, but when I want to secure our safety then it's wrong," Mary fumed.
Meanwhile in Clementine's office.
"Hey Clementine, can we talk for a minute?" Nico asked.
"Sure," Clementine answered, "What's going on?"
"Alright so remember how we confronted Gregory in the big little chaotic shitstorm?' Nico asked.
"Yeah you're acting like it didn't happen a month ago," she responded.
"So that night Mary saw someone driving away from the compound and stowed away then she burned down the place they were at and we think they're the ones who were in the woods," Nico explained.
"Then Gregory's community is far bigger than we thought," Clementine murmured, "Well shit I don't think we can defend this place against a community that big. I mean sure we fought Gregory and the Delta, but those groups were made up of like twenty to thirty people max."
Nico was about to speak, but they heard an explosion outside. They looked out the window and saw the bell tower falling over and smashing the wall.
The whole courtyard was anarchy several soldiers were throwing grenades or molotovs all over the place.
"Let's make these fuckers pay for what they did!" Miles screamed, "Smoke them out and round them up!"
Nico took cover against a wall and peaked out the window. He saw Logan crawling out from the bell tower wreckage trying to hide in the bushes. A soldier pointed it out and dragged Logan over to Miles. Logan could barely feel anything and was terrified when he was being dragged over to this guy he's never met. While Nico was watching soldiers through grenades through the window of the office. Clementine quickly ran with Nico out of the room just as the grenades exploded leveling the whole office. A molotov soon landed setting the rest of the building ablaze.
"Oh no," Miles muttered, putting his hands on the sides of Logan's face, "You aren't the little shit who did it."
"There seem to be two others as well," the soldier said, dragging Mary and Henry who were still in pain and shock from the fall.
"Oh this is the bitch," Miles scowled, grabbing Mary, "I bet you thought you were being a hero… by burning my pregnant wife and kids alive! Life's not a fucking fairytale and there aren't any god damn happy endings, but I thought that my family would be treated better than a fucking walker!"
Miles punched Mary and dropped her.
"Get their asses in the van we're rolling out we did what we set out to do," Miles muttered.
Three more came out dragging Aasim. Anne, and Willy.
"Sure take them too," Miles chuckled, opening the van's back door, "They'll never find us where we're going. They certainly didn't find their friend… uh what was the chick's name? Hazel or something? Yeah they never found her and they won't find you lucky shits either."
After the soldiers got in the van Miles threw one last grenade.
"I don't care which fuckers in the van you kill when we get back, but I'm killing the girl," Miles shouted as he got in the van.
They sped off plowing through the gates down the gravel road.
Clementine and Nico hobbled out of the admin building which was burning profusely. Nico was coughing rapidly.
"We need to do a head count," Clementine groaned adjusting her prosthetic.
Omar, Louis, Aj, Bethany, and Maren emerged.
"Alright I'm sure we'll find a way to get through this," Clementine assured them, "We… we can rebuild! We can get them back."
"We can't," Omar sighed.
"Have faith," Clementine replied.
"We're fighting a losing battle Clem!" Louis snapped, "We win one fight to be shoved into the next! Cut off one two more grow in its place. The one was the Delta then the two that followed it were Gregory's little militia and that fucking battalion! We need to appeal to the guys back at Walmart. We need to see if we can stay with them! Unless you guys want to get eaten in your sleep. Everything is gone!"
"I understand how you feel it's easier to be angry since when you aren't you'll be forced to deal with the pain of losing," Clementine announced, "Now I know we've never faced anything like this, but it's our job to save our friends! They'd do the same for us."
They sat silently for a time before Louis asked, "So what's next?"
"We head down to Bob's group to see if they can spare anyone to help us," Clementine answered.
