Author's Notes: We're still going! This picks up soon after the events of the second season, just two days after instead of a few weeks. The characters will be tested in a way like never before and you'll see that especially after this chapter is over.

Logan had drifted off to sleep with everyone else in the truck when the movement abruptly stopped. Everyone in the trailer slid down to the side closest to the actual truck. Logan opened his eyes begrudgingly this was one of the only times he's gotten sleep in the past few days.

"Are we at the place?" Willy asked.

"It's been two days so either we're here or we're out of fucking gas," Logan yawned.

The door scraped as Logan opened it. Sunlight flooded into the trailer blinding everyone.

"I'd say sorry to wake you with that sudden stop, but I'm not," Ellie said.

Logan shot a tired glare at her then got out of the trailer.

"Where's Bob?" Logan asked.

"Moping about how Mac, Green, and the other people vanished. He's being an especially little bitch crying about how Ken was brutally murdered," Ellie replied.

"That's pretty cruel and heartless," Logan scoffed.

"That could be the name of my autobiography," Ellie said.

She flipped him off and walked away. Logan rolled his eyes and searched for Bob.

"Bob?" Logan asked, knocking on the door to the gas station.

He waited a second before opening the door and seeing Bob in the corner.

"I failed them," Bob muttered, "I told them to get in the truck and drive… and where did it get him? Mutilated and rotting on the side of the road. Mac and the rest are with people who handed Green off to Miles forces.

"There wasn't anything you could have done," Logan comforted him, "I know how you feel."

"You don't know anything about how I feel," Bob scowled.

"I may not have built up a community but I know what it's like to lose people! Riverside, the place I spent most of the apocalypse was burned down! I've seen people burn alive in that Riverside attack! Over the past two months I've seen a mutilated corpse, a guy with his face burned off! So don't fucking tell me I don't know what it's like to lose someone or see demented shit!"

"You're right," Bob sighed, "I'm sorry it's just that everything is getting rough."

"It's fine," Logan replied, "Is there anything I can do to help?"

"You could take Henry and scout the area to see if there's anything that seems off or suspicious," Bob told him.

"Alright sure," Logan responded, turning to leave.

Logan motioned to Henry who walked over to him.

"You wanna help me scout the area?" Logan asked.

"Yeah sure," Henry replied.

They set off into the woods which seemed more ominous and lifeless than the woods around the boarding school.

"I have a bad feeling about this," Henry uttered, turning back to see the gas station no longer in sight.

"Nothing will go wrong," Logan assured him, "We're in a new place! This is a fresh start for all of us."

"Just can't seem to get over everything we've seen recently," Henry sighed, "I can still see the walkers eating my sister in dreams. More often after seeing what's left of Gregory."

A few birds flew above them rustling the branches seeking shelter from the seemingly oncoming storm as the winds picked up.

"The sick bastard went through the trouble of searching the rubble," Logan muttered.

"Let's stop talking about it," Henry sighed.

Several minutes went by in awkward silence and they passed an insanely steep hill. They stopped and saw a herd of walkers down at the base of it. A few steps later they saw an old cabin come into view past a giant boulder.

"Should we investigate?" Henry asked.

"Bob said that we should see if anything is suspicious so yeah," Logan replied, "Also it seems like it's going to start pouring and shelter is never bad."

They cautiously stepped towards it and knocked on the door.

"No one's home," Henry said.

"A bit cliche don't you think?" Logan chuckled.

"Shut up," Henry laughed.

Their laughter ceased as soon as they saw the inside of the cabin.

"Oh fuck," Logan gasped.

There were a lot of bodies scattered across the floor. What disturbed them wasn't the carnage which was slightly unsettling to Logan and Henry. The thing that disturbed them was that the people were torn to shreds. The few that weren't fully dismembered had deep long cuts across their arms and legs. Their stomachs instantly sank when they realized the blood was still wet. This had happened recently. The knives that the victims had were clean; they didn't even land one hit against their attackers.

Henry quickly swiped one of the victims' knives and backed up.

"Fuck we gotta go!" Logan quivered.

They closed the door and backed away quickly before running.

"There's no way that was the work of people," Henry babbled, "I mean not even Gregory and Miles would do that! As demented as they were!"

While they were running a walker fell on Henry which made him hit his head on the boulder.

"Fuck!" Logan exclaimed, turning around.

He grabbed the walker and flung it to the ground. Wasting no time he stomped it's head in with his foot.

"Henry are you okay?" Logan asked.

"I'm fine," Henry slurred, "This trial is a sham though."

Henry's eyes were dilated; his left pupil was fully expanded and the right pupil was contracted.

"We're not at the trial Henry," Logan said, "I think you have a concussion."

"No, I'm fine," Henry assured.

Henry got up on his own refusing help from Logan and no less than two steps later Henry passed out.

Logan heard an all too familiar groaning and turned to see the herd of walkers had gone around the hill. They were still a decent distance away but Logan was still going to book it with Henry. He heard a branch crack and quickly spun around and kicked. It wasn't a walker, it was Maren.

"How the fuck is your weasely ass still alive!" Logan yelled.

"Look I know how you must feel about seeing me, but I don't wanna die so let's get out of this and you'll never see me again I promise that," Maren suggested.

"Fine," Logan agreed, picking up the knife Henry had, "You carry Henry and I'll deal with anything that comes close."

They started their trek to the others. The walkers were catching up rapidly since the rain from the storm made the ground slippery; which sped up their descent down the slow decline.

"Shit we aren't going to make it," Logan exclaimed.

"You won't make it," Maren replied, whipping out her pistol.

She shot him in the leg and put the pistol back in her pocket. Logan fell to the ground screaming in pain.

"What the fuck!" Logan screamed.

"Nothing personal I just needed a snack for them so they'd slow down," Maren smiled.

"I'd throw this knife at you if it wasn't my last survival option!" Logan groaned.

Logan tried to crawl towards the gas station but it was no use.

"I'll kill you Maren!" Logan screamed, "I'll make what Gregory did to Miles look family friendly!"

"Sure you will," Maren chuckled.

Thunder and lightning boomed in the sky. Logan was completely covered in mud as the walkers made it to his position. He screamed as walkers pinned him. Maren was smiling as she heard his screaming and then silence in the distance.
