Flying Chakram
Nami watched helplessly as Butchy, or so Jango called him, was completely hypnotized. Seconds before, he had been horrendously slashed by Zoro, but with a simple swing of his hypnosis ring, he wasn't just revived, but more powerful, more blood thirsty.
"Get 'im, Butchie!" Jango ordered, aware, yet disregarding Nami's impared but still working body. Her eyes went from Zoro, who was in more shock than she was, to Luffy, who was still sleeping peacefully, despite being crushed by the ginormous stem.
She watched as the larger of the two Nyaban Brothers stomped towards Zoro. She could feel the ground rumble with each step he took. As worried as she was for Zoro, someone had to wake Luffy up, and it was also a great excuse to get close to her beloved treasure.
Hoping her swift movements would be scarce under the cover of Butchy, she took off.
"This is my chance!" Nami growled. She gripped her shoulder, though with not enough strength to irritate her bleeding wound. She had hoped the adrenaline would have kicked in, numbing the pain she felt, though the stinging she felt only increased, however, she had lived through much worse. "I gotta wake him up while I still can!"
"What is that crafty girl up to now…" Jango rhetorically questioned himself. His soft swinging of his hypnosis ring intensified to where the string it was attached to, circled his finger. He continued to spin it, gaining more and more speed with each round.
Zoro grit his teeth when he noticed Jango's attention had changed to Nami.
Said redhead dashed down the hill, Luffy's victims from his rampage stared at her as they struggled to move their aching bodies.
"Everyone's seriously hurt, and he's just sleeping!" Nami thought angrily. Even she suffered an injury during the battle.
Jango continued with the spinning until he was satisfied with its fast speed and flung it off its string. It flew straight towards Nami, flowing behind her without her knowledge. Its speed made catching up to her a lenient task.
"Wake up!" Nami yelled, the heel of her boot stomping directly into Luffy's cheek, which immediately made him wake up from his peaceful snooze. It wasn't until Zoro's panicked warning, that she looked behind her, only to see Jango's "tool" flying straight at her. Its sharp and thin edge glistened in the sun. She was sure that the sight of the disguised chakram would be the last thing she would ever see.
"W-What the..?!" Luffy struggled to yell in annoyance. His hand wrapped around Nami's thin ankle, though she paid no attention to the sudden touch. She was too distracted by the chakram that was only a few inches away from slicing into her face. But suddenly, she fell down. She wasn't exactly sure how she lost her balance, until she looked up to find Luffy grabbing onto her leg.
"Nami! How dare you stomp on my face?!" He cried with an already formed bruise on his cheek and pain filled tears lingering in the corners of his eyes.
Nami stared in disbelief as the chakram flew past her head. In the middle of Luffy's angered lecture, the ring flew straight into his face. His fingers went limp and relinquished her foot. Despite still standing, everyone watching still wondered if he was alive, at least until his back finally unarched and his foot stepped back to support being pushed back. His teeth clamped down on the metal ring, somehow cracking the metal. Like some sort of animal, he growled in anger, more tears had accumulated in the corners of his eyes. He finally crunched down again, this time breaking the chakra into umpteen pieces.
"Luffy!" Nami cheered with a beaming smile on her face. It was weird, but in the moment where his status was uncertain, she had felt… sad. But seeing him and his stupid face again, brought a stupid smile to her own face.
"Oww~" Luffy whined as he lightly tapped on the scratch he had obtained from the chakram. His quiet winces snowballed into once loud "Ouch!" That could be heard from the top of the hill.
"H-He's alive again!" One of the Black Cat crew members gasped in surprise.
"This is bad!" Another one remarked aloud.
"Five minutes is impossible now!"
"Nami!" Luffy yelled in anger, once again "That hurts, you jerk!"
"That wasn't me! She retorted, in an attempt to tell her side of the story. She could feel her energy draining as she felt blood spill from her shoulder and stained her white shirt. Despite her attempts to hide the wound, Luffy noticed the stark crimson color slowly spreading through the sleeve of her t-shirt.
"Nami! Did you hurt your shoulder?" Luffy asked. It had been quite a while since she had heard Luffy's soft voice that she almost forgot he could speak at such a low volume.
"It's nothing. I'm fine…" She replied, struggling to wince with each word. Luffy stared down at her with a wooly stare, somehow different from his normal wide eyed look. "I've done everything I can for now, so I leave the rest to you…" Nami's sharp eyes became blurred with the lack of blood, and she struggled to keep her sitting form. "We absolutely cannot afford to lose this fight…"
"Nami?" Luffy queried. He hadn't known her long, but something about her thinking so selflessly seemed out of character.
"For the treasure!" She added with a determined fist.
"Yeah. That's more like you" Luffy said. As he walked past her to grab his hat, he struggled to hold back an amused smile.
