Luffy's Promise
The moon's beautiful glow reflected on the sake as it poured down Bellemere's contrived wooden grave. The acidic soil perfectly soaked up the glimmering liquor.
"Your daughters have grown up to be truly strong and respectable." Genzo spoke, almost as if he were talking to himself "It's almost as if I'm seeing you in life again!" A silent chuckle left his mouth as he recalled the past. "We're going to live life to its fullest from now on. We've lost and sacrificed far too much, which is why we're going to smile as insanely much as possible."
Genzo contently stared at the grave in silence with the relaxing sound of waves rolling onto the shore and the majestic sight of the moon's reflection on the sea to comfort him. The peaceful scene relaxed his aching heart, which had been under too much strain for someone his age.
"Raw ham melon!" Genzo's heart nearly lept out of his chest upon hearing a voice yell from behind. He turned around to see their idiot savior with bones sticking out of his mouth, and his hands occupied with meat. "Huh?" Luffy scoped the whole area by turning his head "There's no food here? That's no good. Time to go back." He turned around, but not before a voice called out to him.
"Hold it, boy!" Genzo ordered with fury. Luffy did as he was told and turned his head around.
"A grave? Did someone die?"
"Yeah." Genzo took a swig of his nearly-emptied sake bottle and wiped the excess drops of his bristly mustache. "A long time ago."
Luffy turned around and bowed his head forward out of respect. "Oh, my deepest conveniences." He paused for a moment, feeling as if he had made a mistake "Huh? Deepest concussions… Deepest compli-"
"Deepest condolences." Genzo corrected, no longer able to take any more of the kid's ramblings. To think he was the one to save their whole village.
"Yeah, that."
"Hey, boy. Nami is going to sail on your ship. She's going to be a pirate. It will be a dangerous journey, and that's fine. There's no way around that. But, if you guys ever do anything to take away Nami's smile…I'll personally come find you and kill you!"
"Yeah. I'm not gonna take it away, though." Luffy casually replied, even after hearing the threat.
Genzo turned around and leaned forward to face Luffy "Got it?!" He yelled with exasperation.
"I got it!" Luffy promised as a cold sweat broke out on his brow underneath the light of the moon.
A/N: I know I said I'd make this chapter longer... which I technically did since it's about 100 words longer... ahhhh but anyway please R&R. I'm thinking of maybe doing when the strawhats leave Cocoyashi but I probably won't just because I don't think I can make a single chapter on Luffy just putting his thumb up.
