Night Stroll

Hours before, when the sun was high in the sky and sunset was hours away, The strawhats had graciously accepted Bokuden, Apis' grandfather's, offer. The child they traveled with for many days boasted about his delicious pork buns, though all they got in return was lots of useless knowledge about who knows what, and empty stomachs. But before they knew it, hours passed by and the sun set. Luffy had fallen asleep after the first hour, surprising Nami, Sanji, and Usopp- the only ones who remained awake. It wasn't until Nami mentioned the promised pork buns that he woke up and mindlessly left with the excuse of needing to use the bathroom.

Fast forward multiple more hours and Sanji had smoked his way through half a recently opened box. Usopp had rested his head on the very low table, no longer partaking in the now ice cold tea, Luffy was completely missing, and Nami was losing her patience.

Silently, Nami crawled on all fours, dragging her palms and bare knees on the shaggy rug, though of course she didn't go unnoticed. "Hey, where do you think you're going?" Usopp wearily asked. Normally he would have caused a much larger commotion, but a hoarse whisper was all he could manage.

She looked over her shoulders to look at him and put a finger to her chin, hopefully adding some cuteness to her words. "I'm worried about Luffy since he's been gone for such a long time. So I'll go check" She gave an innocent wink and a smile. Despite how selfless the words sounded, coming out of her mouth, it felt more as if it was a front. Of course, she was worried about Luffy, but also grateful for the great excuse he had left her with. With no other words, she continued on her sneaky way, leaving a lustful Sanji and mentally drained Usopp behind.

"Phew! Good grief!" Nami sighed to herself. She continued forward, following the faint smell of delicious cooking. When she finally made it to the small kitchen, she was unsurprised when she saw Luffy sleeping peacefully on the hard ground- afterall, she could practically hear his snores from miles away. She bent down to shake him awake, slightly disturbing the single pork bun on his head so that it inched closer and closer to his mouth with each rock.

With one more call of his name, he finally woke up. He was still half lidded and tired, but was able to chew on it despite that. Expecting to find more, Nami approached the counter behind him, but to her shock nothing was there but emptied bamboo food steamers. "Not even a single bun is left!" She exclaimed, feeling like her patronage amounted to nothing.

"Yeah, this is yummy" Luffy said as he sat up, still chewing and somehow relishing the flavor, instead of just simply wolfing it down like he did with Sanji's cooking.

"Yummy?!" She struck him down with her hard fist while impatiently screaming "How do you intend to make up for eating everyone's share?!" Luffy couldn't help but look up at her in confusion though.

"What're you talking about?" He asked as if he had done nothing wrong, all the while gripping onto his head so as to cradle the bump he obtained from her hard hit.

"Geez" Nami huffed and crossed her arms until a trail in the dirt caught her eyes. She bent down again and dragged her clean finger against the dry dirt "What is this?" She looked back and saw a trail leading out from the kitchen. "What made this trail?" She asked herself, suddenly forgetting all about her anger towards Luffy and even the hunger she felt.

Out of curiosity, Nami decided to follow it, ordering Luffy to follow suit, though even without her strict invitation, he would have followed her anyways, both as an excuse to not have to go back to the miserable room with Bokuden, and also to spend some time with his navigator.

The engraved path continued to wind for a mile or two, quite a long way away from the little bungalow the old man lived in.

"Dead end?" Luffy asked when they finally stopped. Nami stared up the top of a mountain.

"What's the deal?" She asked herself, feeling a sense of anger start to arise in her again, until Luffy Luffy looked down again and noticed the trail continue, even past the large shrubbery.

He walked forward and bent down, sticking his head right in the bush.

"What? Luffy? What are you doing?"

"A hole" Was all he responded with, making sure that any leaves didn't sneak into his mouth. Nami joined him on the ground, even sticking her own head in the thicket. Through there, she could see the trail continue on. They gave each other a knowing look and continued on, even through the vegetation.

The course wasn't difficult. The most strenuous thing they came upon was a series of uphill walkways… until they came to the edge of a ravine. The drop was high, and there was nothing but dark water below.

"It looks like they went across here." Nami uttered, trying to focus not so much on the drop, but the trail on the other side. "Luffy!" Nami called, depending on him to help them get through the obstacle.

"Yep!" He confidently smiled. "Gomu gomu no…" He yelled while throwing his hands to the air, and they stretched all the while. He threw them back down, making sure his hands tightly gripped the other end. "Suspension Bridge" Nami was glad to see him come up with another solution, other than having him just simply grab her and throw her to the other side, like she had seen him do to poor Zoro multiple times. Cautiously, she walked across his stretched out limbs.

As odd as it sounded, Luffy didn't mind being walked on- literally- seeing as how it was Nami.

A/N: Alright! I'm back again with another terrible ending! To make up for being absent for a few days, I decided to make this one a bit longer. Now, I know that this is more just nakamaship, rather than LuNa, but hopefully the next chapter will be better. The warship arc doesn't have too many good moments, but whatever. It's way too early for another movie anyways. As always, please R&R!

Also, this is officially the 20th chapter I've written, so I'd like to thank you all for reading, and hopefully even rating/reviewing. I figured I'd give up long before, but it was thanks for your continued support that I kept going! I know that sounds a bit corny, but I seriously mean it- so thank you
