Equally Crazy

"Hey! Nami! Nami! Can you hear me?" Luffy queried as his fingertips lightly patted her pyretically flushed cheek.

"What are you doing?!" Vivi, Sanji, and Usopp all angrily yelled in unison.

Luffy's voice and light touches finally broke through and into her consciousness. Her eyes fluttered open, and unsurprisingly, when her vision cleared, the blur in front of her turned out to be Luffy leaning over the unfamiliar bed she was resting on to face her.

"Oh! She's up!" He happily exclaimed. "The only way to see a doctor is to climb a mountain, so we're gonna climb it" He explained to the still groggy Nami.

"Don't be crazy! What are you going to do with Nami?!" Sanji angrily fought back. How he wasn't expecting such recklessness from his captain, he wasn't sure, but it was far too risky.

"It's fine. I'll carry her." Luffy simply replied, as if that solved all their problems.

"B-But that's too dangerous!" Usopp defended, scared for his nakama's life.

Luffy removed his arm from the surface of the heavy comforter and unkneeled so he could finally stand back on his feet, though he never left Nami's bedside to retreat to the comforting firebox where a large flame burnt bright.

"What's the problem? We need to hurry, don't we?" Luffy reasonably asked, still ignoring every warning being thrown at him.

"But you can't!" Vivi interjected "Just look how steep and tall it is!" She shot her finger straight to the window and pointed at the lofty and precipitous mountain in the distance.

"I can make it" was all Luffy said in return, still completely confident in his abilities to make it up the mountain.

"Maybe you can make it, but it would be too hard on Nami-san!" Sanji once again vindicated.

Everyone, with the exception of Nami and Dalton who both watched from the sidelines, continued listing reason after reason as to how the trip was far too risky, both for him, and especially Nami.

"Nami?" Usopp curiously asked when he glanced over Luffy's shoulder, only to see a cheery smile on her reddened face. Sanji and Vivi seemed just as confused. Luffy turned back around to face Nami and watched as she pulled her arm through under the thick blanket until her hand popped out.

"I'm counting on you, captain!" she said as she struggled to keep her smile.

Everyone stared in silence at her craziness. Normally, Nami was the smart one- the voice of reason on such a crazy ship- so to see her actually go along with Luffy's idea, knowing full well of the risks and dangers, it was astonishing.

Knowing his usually reluctant navigator had complete trust in him sent a toothy smile to his face. He smacked her hand, their fingers meeting for a mere second before his own slid off, leaving a very brief stinging sensation on the palms of both their hands.

"That's what I wanted to hear!" He chuckled with glee, "Just leave it to me!"

"I can't believe it!" Usopp ranted in shock "Like captain, like navigator!"
