Chapter 39: Stab City USA

Sunny packed the last of some things in her suitcase, mostly clean underwear and a few bathing suits. If they stopped at a swimming hole, they may have some fun time for a bit. Though Sunny hoped that the place was at least clean and not swimming in filth.

Roberta came in concerned "So, you're going to Blaine County for what exactly?" "Just some business that I have to do" Sunny looked at her "Sunny, I'm not stupid, I can tell that you're in trouble" the love of her life stared back with worry "Honey...it's complicated...I can't say more than that" Sunny softly grabbed hand "I'm going to come back, it's not like I'm going away forever" she reassured. Roberta sighed "Okay, I trust you" she kissed Sunny on the cheek "Just promise me you'll call me every night so I don't get lonely" "I promise" Sunny smiled.

"Okay, see you when you get back" "Actually," Sunny tells her "their is something I need to give you". They sat down on the bed "What are you going to give me?". Sunny pulls out a small Walther TPH .25 caliber handgun "Here" she gently hands the piece to Roberta, who was stunned to see a gun in her love's hand "W-What's that for...? Why do you...?" "It's for protection" Sunny sighed "Protection from who?" Roberta felt scared "You know about what I did as a young girl," she reminded "you just never know what's going to happen".

"Sunny, I don't-I don't even know how..." Roberta shook her head "I'll teach you when I come back" Roberta could see the unease in Sunny's eyes "What are you scared of? Is someone after you?" "N-No...you just never know". Sunny leaned and kissed her on the forehead "I love you, I just want you to be safe" she says trying to ease her fears "Okay, guess I er got to learn".

Sunny got up and went to the door "Sunny" Roberta called before she went through the door "Yeah?" she looked back "Please be careful..." Roberta looked at her with pleading eyes "I will, it's going to be okay" and like that she leaves for her new destination. Roberta put the gun aside, she felt uneasy about holding let alone looking at a weapon. The love of her life was honest with her but this was different. She knew something else was going on, Sunny though never told her. It was mostly her way of keeping anything bad from touching them. Roberta trusted Sunny but she wanted a life without any type of harm coming to them. She wanted a summer home or a cabin by the lake to spend time quietly with each other. Even a villa would be nice. Roberta wanted children, their own little family.

She hopes that Sunny can settle down and relax. She hopes to be a wife one day. Roberta tells herself that hope is all she can have. Hope is all she hang on to.

Chelsea's apartment, Vespucci Beach

Chelsea finished putting a disassembled Jesse in the backseat. In the next few hours she was going to be in her favorite place, Blaine County. When Sunny called her about going to Blaine County, she was more than excited to go. Of course, Sunny explained the whole thing that involves her sister being taken hostage and working for dirty cops; so their was that. Though Sunny said she would check into a motel for the remainder of her time, Chelsea insisted that she sleep over at her trailer. "Oh I uh think there might not be enough room in at your place" Sunny tried to talk her way out of it "Oh no, their's plenty of room! Besides," she points out "mi casa es su casa".

When asked about if the area where she called home was safe, that was a different story "Err it's pretty safe, but you may not want to leave your undies to dry on the clothes line, they might get stolen" "What?" Sunny questioned "Never mind, just keep everything inside my place; just for safety reasons". When asked about the name of the place "Stab City? Sounds like a cell block" Sunny says "It's not that bad and it's just a name".

Sunny relented and of course said yes.

"Hey you!" a familiar voice calls her from behind "Ugh, what do you want?". The surfer that she beat to get her apartment walked towards her "You cheating bitch, I want a fucking rematch!" he demands "Okay! Look, this is really getting boring. My answer is no and so fuck off already" Chelsea tells him "Oh no! I want my rematch right now! he grabs her arm. Chelsea's mood suddenly shifted "You know what? Let's go up to my place, let me grab my board" "That's more like it!".

35 minutes later

She hurriedly cleaned the blood from the kitchen floor and stuffed the rags into a black trash bag "You really had to push it and look what you made me do" Chelsea looked at her one time would be opponent, whose bloodied body was now wrapped in a tarp. The kitchen was now spotless. The hammer that she used was in the bag with the rags. Now comes the hard part. She lifts him by the shoulders and drags him out. Chelsea closed the door on the way out. She looked left and right to make sure the coast was clear. When it was she dragged him down the stairs "God" she grunting "You sure are one heavy bugger".

After opening the trunk of her car, Chelsea put the body wrapped tarp in along with the bag. She tries closing the trunk but it didn't seem to want to close "Come on you, close" she tries again, this time it closes. "Chelsea?".

She jumps in nervousness "S-Sunny! What are you doing here?" she stupidly asked "Uh I told you what I needed to do in Blaine County, remember?" Sunny reminded her "Oh! Yeah! That's right! I almost forgot! Silly me!" Chelsea gives a stupid laugh "Everything alright? You're acting weirder than usual" "Don't be silly, everything is fine" she insist "Open the trunk" Sunny tells her "W-W-Why?" "Because I need to put my stuff in".

"Uh no you can't" she stops her "Why not?".

"It's broken, it can't open" she lies "I just saw you closing it" Sunny eyed her "Oh it tends to open by itself and not close, had to slam it a few times" Chelsea explained "Okay, guess I got to put my stuff in the back seat" "That'd be wise". As Sunny put her suitcase in the back seat she noticed that there were a pair of shovels in the back "What the hell are those shovels doing the back?" "Uh I was doing gardening". Sunny laughed a bit "Gardening? You don't look like the gardening type" "Well I garden, it's uh bit of a hobby" Chelsea nervously smiled "Whatever, come on, let's get this show on the road". Chelsea dutifully get's into the drivers seat and starts the engine. Away they went.

Unbeknownst to them, a small moan crept on the inside. The traffic muffled it out.

...

Sunny glanced at they exited out of the city. It was the first time that she had been outside the city, aside from the Midwest. It's when she starts seeing desert that she really does feel like she stepped onto an alien planet. Geraldine calls her phone "Hello" Sunny answered "Hey girl, I went over to your place but your girlfriend said you were out of town" "Yeah, about that, I'm going to be spending some time in Blaine County".

"Damn, for real? What the hell are you gonna do over there?" she asked "It's kinda complicated, if there's a score worth taking I'll call Dominic and he'll let you know" Geraldine sighed with concern "Right, hey who stayin' with over there?".

"Uh I got stay at Chelsea's place" Sunny sighed with disgust, Geraldine laughed on the other line "Man that sucks for you" "Fuck you, you get to spend time in a nice house while I got spend time in a rat bin that's probably really a meth lab or something" "Hey, don't insult my place" Chelsea shoots back "Shut it, talk to you when we found something" "Alright, see you later".

Sunny rolled down the window and spat out her gum "Listen, thanks for helping me with this" "Well, it's the least I can do; besides, where would you be without me". A small sound is heard "What was that?" Sunny asked "What was what?" "That sounds like the car is having problems".

"Uh must be my stomach" Chelsea chuckles nervously "Some growl" Sunny scoffed. Then their was a thud, then another thud and then another. Then their was a small moan "What the hell that's noise? Did you hit something?" "Ugh, god, okay so listen.

"That place that I'm staying at back in Vespucci, do you want to know how I got it?", Sunny looked over at her with confusion "How did you get it?" "Well, when I came into town I sort of went over to the beach and beat this asshole in an arm wrestling contest, but he didn't like the fact that I beat him so he challenged me to a surfing contest. I bet him this car and apartment in Vespucci. And naturally I beat him, and got that place".

"Chelsea where are you going with this?" "Just wait a second, so around some time before you came over, he showed up and wanted a rematch. I told him to fuck off, he didn't like that answer and he...grabbed my arm" Chelsea exhaled "I invited him upstairs to settle things, so one thing lead to another and..." she trailed off "And what? What happened?" "I grabbed a hammer and hit him a few times with it" Chelsea chuckles stupidly "And I kept on hitting him and hitting him and hitting him, he stopped moving after that. And well, there was a huge mess in the kitchen that I had to clean up and I had to drag him down the stairs then stuffed him into the trunk...". Sunny's mouth stood open "A-Are you telling me, you beat a guy to death with a hammer and that-that you stuffed his body in the trunk of this Fugitive!?" "Uh yeah, I guess that pretty much summarizes it all" Chelsea chuckles "That' not funny, fuck! Are you fucking nuts or something?" Sunny shouts at her "No! Just kind of happened! Shit just happened!" she laughed "I knew I should have taken a bus".

"But I get the feeling that he's not entirely dead, we're gonna have to take a detour; it's only a couple of hours away from my place" "Oh fuck, okay, if we do this then this guy has to be dead for good and for sure; I do not want him coming back" Sunny ordered "Don't worry, it's the desert" Chelsea reminds "it never gives up it's secrets".

After a couple of hours they reached the spot. Sunny stepped out with Chelsea.

Chelsea opened the trunk. Sunny looked at the scene of Chelsea's hit. His bleach blonde hair was now stained pinkish red. His face was drenched in red anatomy. "Oh fuck" Sunny covered her mouth "Man, you did a number on him". Just then a small cough comes out of his mouth "Oh shit" Sunny cursed "Hang on" Chelsea quickly grabbed a rather large rock "Move out of the way" "What are you-?". With all of her strength, Chelsea bashed his head with the rock; which made a disgusting sound. "Okay, now he's dead, let's get to work" Chelsea enthusiastically said "Ugh, this is not how I wanted to enter Blaine".

For over an hour, Chelsea and Sunny dig.

After the grave is dug, they proceed to dump the bloody cadaver in it's new home. The dirt is piled on. "What about that hammer and rock? Are you going to get rid of those?" "Yeah I know someone who will get rid of them, shouldn't be a problem". The sun had already gone down "Come on, let's get out of here, I'm starting to get cold" Sunny demands "Yeah, got to show you your bedroom".

Chelsea's trailer, Stab City, Blaine County

Chelsea parked next to her trailer. It was good to finally be back home "Well, here it is!" Chelsea happily introduced her home "Home, sweet, home!". Sunny, at first glance, wasn't impressed. The lower part was it had some rust to it, while the upper and middle part was shaded lime green. There wasn't a front yard to see, just chain link. There was a cable dish on top that, at least their was a good reception. There wasn't any plants whatsoever. There was a small patio that looked like it was still in good condition. "Uh that motel sounds better and better" "No, no come on, you're my guest and you're going to stay here". Sunny sighed "Come on, I'll show you to your sleeping quarters" Chelsea grabbed her suitcase.

The two enter. The inside wasn't half bad but that didn't matter to Sunny. The carpet was mahogany brown but it looked dirty with old wads of gum now turned black and soda stains. There was sofa that was rather big, it looked comfy but it looked rather old. The kitchen was small with a sink and stove, no dish washer though. A small table for eating is present, it was clean at least. The bathroom was similar to the ones found at a motel, Sunny hoped she didn't get foot fungus by showering. "So what do you think?" Chelsea asked "Um, where my room to be exact? I don't see it" Sunny wondered "It's right there" she pointed to the sofa "That's the sofa" "No, it's a bed underneath, you just go to pull it out". Sunny looked at the room next to the bathroom "What about that room?" "Oh, well, that's my room; I'll be staying there". Sunny sighed "You know that motel is sounding better" she turned around and tried to exit "Whoa-whoa-whoa, come on, look" Chelsea grabbed her hand.

"I know this isn't the best place," Sunny looked back at her "it's an unknown to you but it's as good as any other place".

"Bear in mind, that motel you want to stay in; it's an hour thirty from here. You're in the sticks" she reminds her "It's dark, coyotes and whatnot are out there, plus outlaw bikers and meth smoking rednecks, along with anti government militants prowling for people that don't look like them".

"Sunny, come on," Chelsea pleads "you're probably the first person that ever I had here" she states "Please...?" Chelsea pleaded with puppy dog eyes. Sunny sighed and caved in "Fine, but if something bites me while I'm sleeping then I'm sleeping in your car for the rest of my time here". Chelsea jumped up with joy. Sunny looked at the time and it was almost eleven. "I just want to sleep, I'm too tired to do anything" Sunny put her suitcase down "Right, I'll help set your bed up". Chelsea brought a clean pillow and a blanket for Sunny.

Sunny went into the bathroom and changed. She came out wearing a pair of dark shorts and a grey top. In came Chelsea, wearing only her panties "Just so you know, desert heat is a pain, you may want to strip just in case it gets hot" "Oh god" Sunny looked away in embarrassment "What? Don't be shy, besides they're just my tits" Chelsea said with a smile "Besides I have tits, you have tits, Geraldine has tits-" "Chelsea, I get it, put a shirt on please" Sunny demands "Fine, little worry wort". Chelsea grabbed her army shirt to satisfy her guest "Happy?".

Sunny sat on the bed and sighed "What's wrong?" Chelsea sat next to her "I'm just worried about my sister, I hope she's okay" "Hey, come on, everything will be alright" Chelsea tried to lift her spirits "I'm sure she's thinking about you, like how you're going to kill the fuckers who took her". Sunny chuckles "Yeah, she's probably thinking about that".

"I lost my mother when I was on the inside...I can't loose her, she's all I have left" she sadly remarked "You'll get her back, I'm here to help you out; remember?". Chelsea puts her hand on her shoulder "Let's get some rest, I'm tired enough as it is".

"Yeah, we had quite the day" Chelsea smiled "You beating a guy to death and us burying him somewhere in the desert is not what I call a good day" Sunny reminded "I said I was sorry". After a moment Chelsea said her good nights and went off to bed. She takes off her shirt. It was nice to finally to be sleeping in her bedroom again. The beach was far from where they were but she'll find a way for them to have fun.

An hour passes, Chelsea wakes up to crying. She thought that she was dreaming but realized it wasn't a dream "Where's that coming...?". She crept out to see who was crying. "E-Eonni..." she heard a murmur and realized that Sunny was the one weeping. She tossed and turned, as she was trying to escape her nightmare. "Eonni...joesong haeyo" she cries "Yongseo haejwo...". Chelsea carefully walked to her. Her hand slowly wipes the tears away. She knelt next to her and gently stroked her face. She may act hard and talk a tough game but she was still human on the inside.

Still human and still hurting from past wrong doings.

She really was just ordinary when she let her guard down.

Even though she was a hard ass, she was capable of feeling.

And that right there was the essence of a truly good person.
