Alex was finally granted access to her lab and here she was trying to get the neural inhibitor to work like she needed it to. But she was having trouble concentrating as Evo had found a new way to annoy her – singing show tunes in her mind.

She was currently being harassed with a combination of songs from South Pacific, Sound of Music, and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

So far, she hadn't been able to knock him out of her mind, which is why she needed to get this device working.

But she was finding it nigh on impossible at this point.

"Would you shut up," she said finally. She put down the device hoping against hope he would just shut up this time.

"What's the matter, you don't like musicals?"

"Not particularly," she said. "But you knew that already. How do you even know the words to all those songs as you certainly didn't get them from me?"

"Correct, I did not, but your taste in music is not my favorite," Evo said. "And I wouldn't be singing at all if would come to see me. Or if you hadn't sent the beautiful detective away. I think she and I were beginning to connect."

Alex knew Evo was just taunting her and she wasn't going to take the bait.

"I could help you get her back you know," Evo said. "I pride myself on being able to understand other people. If I didn't, I wouldn't be able to pick such wonderful companions such as yourself."

"Companions, is that what we are now?"

"Acquaintance seems too sterile to explain it and I am sure would balk if I used the word friend," Evo said. "Plus, companion expresses a sense of a shared experience and as long as we are companions there is nothing you can do that I won't experience as well. It's why I'm going to suggest again that you let me help you get the detective back. You still love her and she still harbors feelings for you. Come on Alexandra, let me help you."

"No," she said, picking up the device once more.

"I guess it's back to show tunes then," he said, before launching into another musical montage.

Maggie was having a miserable day. For one, it hadn't stopped raining and she had been out in it for most of the day on a case. By the time she returned home, she felt like she was soaked clear through and all she wanted to do was take a warm shower and go to bed.

Tonight was supposed to be a date night with Sandra – the woman she had at least been attempting to see lately. They had gone on a few dates and Sandra was over at her place when Winn had shown up. Ever since then, Maggie hadn't given her much time or if she was being honest much thought either.

It was just that ever since Winn came to her door, it felt like the only thing Maggie could think of was Alex. And now that she knew Alex was still in danger, yet she had been banished from the DEO, it hadn't made it any better. She was now six days since seeing Alex and while she had spoken to Kara she had gotten the sense that things weren't going well and Evo was still tormenting Alex. Kara was somewhat light on details – and Maggie didn't know if that was because Alex was being tight-lipped about everything or if Kara didn't want to tell her the full story.

Either way, she felt like she was officially out of the Alex zone once more. She knew she should probably be ok with that – be ok with getting on with her life once more, but that isn't how she felt about it.

So, when her day was already going bad, she had texted Sandra to tell her that date night was off due to being at work all day.

That had prompted Sandra to call her back immediately and break up with her. She had hung up on Maggie before Maggie got the chance to point out they hadn't discussed being exclusive or anything, they were just dating.

She had had worse days in her life for sure, but there was something about this day that made her want to crawl into bed and forget the world for a bit.

But as she was unlocking her door, she noticed immediately it wasn't locked. Pulling out her gun, she carefully opened the door.

"Alex?" she said lowering the gun. There was Alex pacing in the middle of her apartment. "What are you doing here?"

"He won't stop," Alex said, clenching her eyes shut a moment and then reopening. "He won't stop and I can't … he won't let me … and I don't know what to do … and I just want it to stop."

Maggie came up to her, touching her arm and stopping her from pacing – something she hadn't stopped doing despite Maggie coming in. "Ok, ok, whatever it is, we'll figure it out," she said. "Let's sit down and you tell me what is happening."

She managed to get Alex to sit on the couch, but she wouldn't stop moving – her leg bouncing up and down and she kept fidgeting. Maggie took her phone out and quickly sent a text to Kara, which Alex didn't seem to notice as she was clearly in some sort of frantic state. Her eyes were bloodshot and there were dark circles under her eyes. If Maggie didn't know any better she would say that Alex was strung out on something.

"He won't stop being in my head," Alex said.

"Evo is still in there?" Maggie asked.

Alex nodded. "And he won't shut up. Ever. I can't stop him and I can't do anything. I haven't slept in … I don't even know what day it is. He said if I came to you he would stop and let me sleep," Alex said. "I told him no, but … I can't … I can't sleep."

Maggie wondered how long it had been since Alex had slept. It certainly would explain her behavior now. If she was sleep-deprived that could get dangerous quickly. She probably felt like she had no choice but to come.

"You're here now, so Evo if you can hear me, whatever you are doing to her stop it," Maggie said.

Alex paused her fidgeting and appeared to be listening – to what Maggie could only guess it was Evo.

"No," Alex said. "That wasn't the deal. She's not coming to see you."

Maggie was pretty certain now that Alex wasn't speaking to her.

"What does he want?" Maggie asked.

"It doesn't matter. The answer is no," Alex said, and she got up but was unsteady on her feet. Maggie rose and gave her a steadying hand. "I shouldn't have come."

"Whoa," Maggie said. "Sit back down."

Before she could say anything else there was a knock on the door, which made Alex practically jump.

"Who's here?" Alex said. "Is someone here?"

"Sit down, ok? I'm going to answer the door," Maggie said. Alex didn't sit, but Maggie made her way to the door hoping that it wasn't Sandra. The last thing she needed was added drama. She looked through the peephole and saw Kara there, so she opened the door.

"Thank you for texting," Kara said as she entered. "She took off from the DEO."

"What are you doing here?" Alex asked even as she backed up a step or two. "I'm not going back so you can experiment on me."

"What is she talking about?" Maggie asked somewhat quietly as she was sensing some paranoia on Alex's part.

Kara sighed. "I went to Lena to ask for help and she had an idea."

"What's the idea? Do you think it will work?"

"I won't be experimented on," Alex said before Kara could respond. "You can tell your girlfriend Lena she isn't going to use me as a guinea pig. I'm not going to let her mess with my mind."

Maggie turned to Kara as there was a lot to unpack there. "Care to explain?"

"I would but …" Kara paused looking at Alex and then back to Maggie before whispering. "Everything we say around her, Evo knows."

Maggie nodded. "Evo wants to see me to stop whatever he is doing to her," Maggie said. "That is why she came here. Why don't we all go back to the DEO and I will speak with Evo there and Alex you can get some rest. How does that sound?"

"No!" Alex said, again taking a step back. "I told you that isn't happening. He's not going to get near you."

"I want to help," Maggie said coming toward her. "Alex, you need to get some sleep. And if the price of that sleep is me going to see Evo, I will do so. He is safely contained; he's not going to get near me."

"No," Alex repeated, shaking her head. "No, no, no. You don't get to have her!" She said this last part while clenching her fists against the side of her head.

Maggie looked over at Kara, who sped over to her sister, injected her with something, and caught her before she collapsed to the floor.

"What the hell?" Maggie said. "Was that necessary?"

"I hoped it wouldn't be," Kara said, pulling Alex up into her arms. "But her behavior has gotten extremely erratic in the last 24 hours or so. Sorry, I haven't called to update you, but I feel like I have been running around everywhere – getting equipment that Lena needed, trying to keep an eye on Alex, and still doing my job as Supergirl. I need to get her back, will you meet me there?"

"Yes," Maggie said. "And you tell J'onn I don't care what Alex has said, I'm going to see Evo again. Then maybe you can explain to me what Lena has come up with."

Maggie opened a window for Kara to leave and then immediately grabbed her keys to get to the DEO. The idea of a hot shower and sleep had fled her mind – her only concern now was helping Alex.
