"Is that… Dr. Connors!?" Spidey wondered.

It was pretty late at night.

He landed in front of the green villain with a tail.

All the cops around were knocked out.

"Ah, finally a challenge." the villain said.

His voice was somewhat magnetic, but sounded like a deep-throated 38 year old all the same.

Realizing it wasn't Dr. Connors, Spidey responded, "And who are you

supposed to be, the Crocodile?"

"Name's Scorpion, punk. Get out of here while you're still conscious."

"Afraid I can't do that." Spidey said while jumping at Scorpion to kick him in the face.

Scorpion backflipped out of the way.

"More aerobic than you look." Peter suggested.

"Let's just see if you can keep up!" Scorpion yelled while leaping up a building.

His enhanced suit gave him the jumping strength of a human-sized grasshopper.

Spiderman went after him, while monologuing.

"This guy's fast. Must be some sort of mutant or something."

Scorpion continued to speed hop from building to building with

incredible fidelity of movement. Peter chased after him.

He called out, "You know, as the sheriff around these parts, you really do not want

to get on my bad side! Ever watch the news, I never lose to guys like you!"

Scorpion yelled back, "Guys like me are a lot smarter than those idiots, and I'll prove it."

Scorpion locked eyes with a really tall skyscraper and began to climb it.

Scorpion latched and jumped about 30 feet with

each propulsion as spiderman wall ran up the building after him.

When they neared the top, Scorpion did something unpredictable.

He stopped and dove back down towards Spidey, blasting him in the face with some

kind of poison burst. Spiderman started to fall for a moment before

clinging onto the wall next to him.

"Aah, that's disgusting! I sure hope that didn't come out of you naturally!" He quipped.

Scorpion was still diving downard, but he now had some more distance on the wall-crawler.

Spiderman fell back down and used all that momentum to perform one giant swing

at Scorpion and catch up with him. They both landed at an intersection.

Peter noticed that Scorpion was still holding a bag of cash in his hand.

"Put the money down and I'll give you 30 seconds to run!" He yelled.

Scorpion replied, "Tempting… or I can just sucker punch you and run!"

He leaped directly at Spiderman. This was an optimal time for a retaliation, as

in mid-air Scorpion was vulnerable. Spidey dodged and then web shot the

mechanical tail to the ground. It made a piercing 'clunk' sound.

He thought. "So all the powers are technology, huh. It must run on some kind of power source."

Scorpion broke free faster than Peter had anticipated.

"Pretty strong for someone with a tail!"

Then, Scorpion fired back, "It comes in handy!" while sweeping Peter off of his feet.

Scorpion tried to shoot another poison blast, but Spiderman dodged.

Scorpion then went in for a punch. Spidey dodged again.

"You're hard to hit, I'll give you that bug!"

"I can say the same for you! Wanna play freeze tag? First one to move loses!" said Spiderman.

"You'll lose your head long before that happens!"

He began charging some sort of homing device on his wrist.
Then he shot Spidey with some auto-tracking version of his poison.

Peter tried to web swing away, but it was too fast, and he got hit and knocked onto the floor.

Scorpion pridefully leaped up to a street pole above Spiderman.

"Like I said insect, way too smart for you." He said.

Police sirens that were whaling began to get close to the fight, and Scorpion took off.

Peter tried to get up to face him again, but something was stopping him.

The air above felt heavy, almost as if he was destined to stay down.

After a minute the air loosened and the cops surrounded Spiderman.

"Where is he! Did you get him Spidey?" a female officer asked.

"Not this time, but don't worry. I always get them eventually." he said and then swung back home.

Another male officer spoke.

"I can't believe it, not even Spiderman could stop that guy. "
The first officer talked again, "That was just luck, I wouldn't be surprised if

the webslinger got him next time."

The man began to choke.

"Whoa, Matt are you all right?"

After a second he breathed slowly and said, "Fine…." he looked at her nametag.

"Amy."

Amy replied, "Yeah, okay. Let's get out of here, partner."

Back in Queens, Peter finally got home a little later than usual.

He was hoping that Aunt May was asleep, but she was always awake waiting for him.

She turned on the front light when he came in.

"Hey Aunt May."

She immediately noticed his black eye.

"Peter! What happened to you. Did you get into a fight?"

He knew he shouldn't lie to her if he wanted to keep her trust, but the

fact was she couldn't know that he was Spiderman.

"I'm alright, I just got hit in the eye with a magnifying glass at the lab. "

"If you say so. That new doctor sure kept you late though. Remember Peter,

school comes first. Try not to over exhaust yourself at the lab."
"Sure thing Aunt May."
he said while hugging her before bed.

Author's Note:

Scorpion is an extremely prepared and threatening villain who's just gotten away with

a lot of cash. Spidey isn't going to take this guy lightly anymore.

Stay tuned to see how he'll deal with someone so fast and powerful…

or perhaps,

someone worse.
