Mention of blood and injury
Marco and Ace stood in the paint isle, looking at paint chips together for their 'new' cabin. They had already picked some out for the nursery at their city home and were now deciding on the ones they would use for the cabin.
Ace held a bright orange and yellow chip, while Marco had a lighter green and yellow one in his hands.
"It's too many colours-yoi."
Marco said looking at them while shaking his head. The yellow paint chip he had was the same that Ace had so they had one colour in agreement for now.
"Orange is nice." Ace said smiling at his husband.
"So is green." Marco gently argued. They had already both agreed on yellow as the primary wall colour but now still needed an accent colour.
After being at a stand-still for a while, looking between the colours, Ace piped up, seeming to have found a solution, "Can't we use them all? Maybe we could decorate one wall with a picture, we could paint it ourselves!"
Marco was about to counter that none of them had any descent painting skills, let alone normal drawing skills on paper. But seeing those cute, sad looking puppy dog eyes, he knew he had lost and sighed. "Fine."
He rolled his eyes and smiled at Ace grinning wildly while leaning in to give a quick kiss on his cheek.
"We need some black too then."
"Wait, why black-yoi?"
"It's a secret."
His husband had some weird ideas sometimes and if he didn't want to tell, he wouldn't know until the time was right, no use in trying to fish for answers. "Alright-yoi, let's gather up some different paint tins and primers."
Smiling Ace quickly went around the shelves, picking out different brightly coloured tins while Marco went towards the primers, reading which ones would be the most suitable.
"Oh ehm... Marco? Maybe we need a cart?"
Marco laughed at his husband's overflowing arms and went to retrieve a cart. Once they had everything, including having some customs paints mixed, they placed them all into the cart before continuing their shopping trip.
His freckled husband was skipping past shelves, looking around at everything, Ace loved shopping for things like this, even if he sometimes got distracted by funny decor pieces. The sole reason Marco had opted for a paint-only-shop this time, and not a simple hobby shop, was for the sole reason that a hobby shop sold decor pieces too and they would have been stuck there forever.
Quirking an eyebrow at Ace's destination point, he called out, "Where you going, Ace-yoi?" The spoken to person whirled around to face him with a smile, "The register! We got the paints!" He said happily, parring the tins in the cart.
"Hmmmm, we sure do, but, aren't you forgetting something else?"
"Did we forget a colour!?" Ace franticly started looking at the different colours they had, going over a mental list and hazy, mentally made up, picture designs they could draw.
"Haha, no Ace, I am sure that we have more than enough colours. But what are we going to put the paint into, to load them onto rollers, or mix them?"
"Aaah right!" Ace turned to Marco kissed him on the cheek for a second time this trip before changing direction to another aisle, "This is why I love you!"
Marco could only chuckle at his husband as he followed him back to get some paint brushes and rollers, as well as some stir sticks and paint pans.
As he was following Ace, he noticed out of the corner of his eye, a yellow and black sign. Looking over he saw there were all sorts of different decals. Some were really cheesy, but after going through some of them, there were a couple of nice ones too, they may be able to use these in their cabin too.
After having grabbed a decent number of numerous types of brushes and the like, Marco pulled Ace towards the decals he had seen before.
He held up the ones he had liked before for Ace to see, "Do you think these would be fun-yoi? Are there some that you like?"
The raven looked through them and almost instantly tossed one into the care that said, 'we love you to the moon and back'. "Hmm, can we get more? Two maybe? One for the house and one for the cabin?"
Marco nodded, maybe a bit too excitedly that Ace like them, as he watched his husband toss in another one into the car.
"I really like this one too-yoi." Marco said while holding onto one that said 'In these moments time stood still…'.
"We can put the baby's birth time and date under it, with a picture? Maybe even... our wedding date?"
Marco once more nodded, happy that Ace got the idea without him even needing to explain it.
Smiling softly Ace took it and put it in the cart "I like it, we can put it in the living room."
In the end they had gotten four decals in total, Ace having added another one into the mix, a camera that had the words 'memories inside' on it. They had walls enough anyway to give them all a nice spot.
When they had everything, they made their way out of the shop and towards their car. Marco would drive them home, not wanting to risk Ace falling asleep after the trip. And just like he had expected, they hadn't even left the parking lot or Ace was already soundly asleep, softly snoring with his head laying against the window. They would leave the stuff for the cabin in their car and head out tomorrow to set things ready over there.
Just as he's backing into their yard, did Ace wake up. "How are w-" He stretched with a yawn "-we home already?"
Marco snorted "morning sleepy head, you woke up right on time. I was starting to think that I would need to carry you inside together with our purchases."
Ace leant back and smiled, "I like it when you carry me." Before leaning over and kissing Marco. Leaning back, he unbuckled his seat belt, and got out of the car, opening the trunk afterwards.
Together they carried everything inside. At the end it was only a single tin of paint left. Marco gave it to Ace before closing the trunk.
"Are you holding onto that securely-yoi?"
"Ehm ye- woooooohhww hahahah Marco!" Ace laughed while slinging an arm around his husband's shoulder to hold onto him. Marco had suddenly picked him up bridal style and was now carrying him inside the house. Marco smiled down at his husband and leant in, giving him a quick peck on the head "you said you liked being carried, right?"
Holding onto the can on his stomach, Ace snuggled into the warm shoulder "Haha sure do! But you're just showing off now!"
"Hahahah am I?"
Marco grinned adjusted his arms to lift Ace up just a bit higher and kissed him. He carried his husband, and the tin of paint, into the house, closing the door behind him with his foot. Stopping next to a table he told Ace to put the paint down. Once done Marco continued his journey, up the stairs and into their bedroom
Entering their room, he once again used his foot to push at the door, not bothering to try and lock it, not like anyone would walk in on them in their own home anyway. Making it towards the bed he deposited his charge on top of it, looming over his husband, he took his time to admire the sprawled-out-form underneath him.
"You're so beautiful-yoi, you know that right? I could look at you for hours like this"
Through lidded eyes, Ace looked at him and wrapped his arms around his neck, bringing him in closer. "Mmmmm, so you married me for my looks?" A sly grin appeared, "and here I thought you just loved my ass."
Marco smiled and placed his hands on the delicate waist. Rubbing his thumbs over clothed abs before slowly moving them down, his hands disappearing through the hem of Ace's shorts before they settled not much lower. Leaning down he nibbled on Ace's ear, whispering while squeezing at the soft flesh beneath his hands. "Well, I got them too, didn't I?"
Earning a stuttered breath in return, he continued kneading the muscle. With a smile he moved his face lower, kissing a freckled sternum. "What's wrong Ace?" He traced a path with his tongue until he reached an Adams apple who's bobbing quickly increased in pace, "Cat got your tongue?" Moving higher, he whispered again, this time in the other ear, making sure to lower his voice "We've barely gotten started." He ensured his chin touched the soft shell when he laughed afterwards, knowing his husband loved it when he lowered his voice, and a sly laugh's vibrations did wonders.
"M-Marco."
"Hmmmmm?"
"Don't- don't tease me."
"Tease you haha?" leaning on elbows he hovered over Ace's face, watching how the freckles he loved so much disappeared under a darkening blush. "I wouldn't dare to-yoi." He wiped away a stray hair, his hand remaining on the pink cheek. Leaning down he placed a gentle kiss on lips that slotted perfect onto his, repeating the action when they chased him.
Moving his body down, he took a hold of his husband's own body and rolled them over, making Ace lay down on top of his chest. For a moment time stood still as they searched each other's eyes, smiling when they found the same amount of love and adoration for each other as the first day they met.
"Love you."
Embracing the perfect being on top of him, he brought a hand up to push fingers through soft hair before gently leading the face down with his hands so he could deposit another kiss on those sweet lips. "I love you too-yoi."
Laying quietly in bed, they simply enjoyed the other's presence on this peaceful afternoon. Ace listening to the blond's heartbeat, who's fingers had been twirling his hair while another hand had been rubbing circles on his back. At some point the twirling had stopped and the hand had changed its movements to stroking, when it stayed on a certain spot, the freckled spoke up.
"What are you thinking about?"
"... Nothing."
Leaning into the touch, he hummed, feeling the spot that his husband was stroking, he knew exactly what he was thinking about it, and it wasn't 'nothing'.
"I am happy that it happened."
The stroking stopped for a moment before it was slowly resumed.
"As a doctor... I should say the opposite." Marco parted the dark hair with his thumb, showing only to the knowing eye, a very faint scar. "But I also wouldn't want to change anything."
Flashback (Ace: 18 - Marco: 33)
Ace
Stupid school, stupid exams, stupid date, stupid woman tch. It's always the same! They always want to date you and don't stop bothering you to accept, and then when you do, they don't even freaking show up! What the actual fuck!
Looking down he smiled, 'at least you never let me down striker', he thought while he patted his trusty bike of many years, he didn't need a motorcycle or a fancy car like all of his friends were getting. This old thing was good enough and got him everywhere he needed to be, and that even minus the expensive gas prices ha! And now Striker was getting him home too from this stupid no show date. Though... it would have been a lot more fun IF THERE WASN'T A SUDDEN DOWNPOUR TOO! He sighed, not like cursing at the sky was going to do anything, but damnit, could this day get any wo-
KCHING!
"Huh, what the hell" Barely able to catch himself from falling onto the road, did he screech to a stop in the middle of a side road. Getting off of his bike, he saw a glint out of the corner of his eyes, muddled by the heavy rainfall. "Chain?" A part of his chain was uselessly laying on the ground. "Aw dam- what the fuck is that light?"
He turned towards his side and saw two big beams heading for him, there was however no time for him to move anywhere, he could only watch with widened eyes as it approached. He wasn't even able to finish his curse "Aw sh-"
His ears rang, and the rain..., he thinks it's the rain, the stuff around him that's making him wet at least, sounded like bullets falling next to his ears. Groaning he tried to move "fuuuuck", everything hurt, his whole body was throbbing in pain. Slightly opening his eyes, he could see a blurred-out version of his bike not far away from him. Wasn't he just on that? Riding home? Why is he on the ground?
A figure came to stand in front of him "Whaa-".
"I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! Are you okay? Omg, your arm! Thaaatch!"
Why are they yelling? His ears already hurt enough.
Suddenly hands were on him, and he felt himself being lifted before he was moved out of the rain and deposited on something far softer than the concrete road. He thinks he walked himself? He doesn't know, but he was out of the rain, which was nice. His head lulled to the side and fell on something hot and warm, soothing some of his aching pain. In the distance, or was it right next to him, everything was a haze, he still heard that voice calling for him, apologizing for something, saying that they were bringing him to... to a hospital? No? He was on his way home, he didn't need a hospital?
A few seconds later, or more like 10 minutes later, he was being manhandled again into someone's arms. The overall pain in his body had started to subside, only for numbness to take over, he however still let his head rest against the warm surface at his side. He could feel them moving, for a moment going back through the rain, soaking him even more, before they were back on dry land.
Lights in different colours were passing left and right, it took all of his attention away, he ignored that still apologizing, and seemingly worried, voice in his ear. He had pretty lights to look at.
When sometime later, one however got shined directly into his eyes, he noticed that he was no longer being carried, but once again was on something soft, with now another being in front of him. The being started prodding and touching him in different places, searching for who knows what. A hiss left his lips when the blurry figure touched his left arm, apologies left the stranger's mouth when he saw the reaction.
When his vision started clearing the tiniest bit, he inspected the being before him with intense care. Oval shaped... Yellow... leaves on top... Glasses... it looked like... a pineapple? A pineapple with glasses haha, that was funny. Reaching out with his good arm he tried to touch the fruit, with a weary laugh he successfully touched it and mumbled something before passing out. "haha, pine...apple, haha"
Haruta & Thatch
"Oooh take the next right turn, it will be faster, the main road will probably be jammed thanks to this bad weather!"
"You got it chef!"
Not long later did the driver turn on her blinker before turning into the street, needing to squint her eyes to even properly see the edges of the road markings.
"Haruta!"
"Huh- AAAAAH!" Haruta slammed onto the breaks, but it was already too late. With the tires slipping over the wet road, they glided over it, unable to get any grip on the surface before they hit the person who had been on the road head on.
BAM
Both occupants in the car were silent for a moment, Thatch was holding onto his seat for dear life while Haruta's knuckles were deadly white around the steering wheel.
"FUCK!" The driver's door flew open and Haruta was out in an instant, flying towards the passed-out form on the ground not far from the front of the car.
The person on the ground seemed to be barely into his twenties. He also wasn't moving, omg what if she killed him! Haruta almost started crying before a groan from the form caught her attention, she touched his shoulder, "I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! Are you okay?" She saw how the form was trying to look at her while also looking past her at the same time. What was she supposed to do?! Looking around she noticed that the teen's left arm was bended in a very unnatural way and clapped a hand over her mouth "Omg, your arm! Thaaatch!"
Hearing his name being called, the chef who was still in the car, got snapped out of his stupor and was kneeling next to Haruta not a moment later. "Shhhiiiiit, is he alive!?"
"I-I yea... He groaned a little while ago and and... But god, Thatch, look at his arm!"
Seeing the mangled arm, the chef held back his rising bile.
"We have to get him to the hospital!"
"I'll... I'll grab his bike, you get him into the car."
"I... I can't drive right now!"
Seeing his sister tremble, he knew why "I'll drive, just get him seated."
"O-okay."
While Thatch put away the obviously broken bike, Haruta lifted the teen up, luckily, he was still able to stumble along himself and she didn't need to carry his full weight. When they were in the car the teen's head instantly fell onto her shoulder. She really didn't care right now and just held his head with one of her hands when the car started moving. "I'm so sorry. We'll bring you to the hospital right away."
"-ea, Marco?"
"What's-up-yoi?" Their older brother's voice echoed from the car's speaker. Thatch must have called him, Haruta was glad she had him with her right now.
"Haruta hit somebody, can we bring him in?"
"...Have you called 911?"
"You know they take ages, and this weather will only make the wait longer, bringing him directly to you will be a lot faster."
"Fine, get him here, be sure to take the back-route in, you know this normally isn't allowed."
"Of course, thank you Marco, we will be there in 10!"
After the ending tone came through, Thatch turned slightly towards his still trembling sister on the back seat "It will be okay Haruta, he'll be fine. You know Marco's a great doctor!"
"I-I hit him!"
"Yea... but you couldn't have seen him, look how dark it is, and all of this rain! I'm... I don't even dare to drive the speed myself even in these circumstances..."
"Yea... no... Drive carefully..." They didn't need another accident on the way to the hospital.
"I will, you just take care of that boy, keep speaking to him, we will be at Marco's soon."
Not even 10 minutes later did they pull up at the ER of their local hospital. Together with Haruta's help, did Thatch hoist the limp boy into his arms, carrying him inside bridal style. They made sure to use the back entrance for employee's only, thanks to knowing Marco's info they had no problem getting inside.
Minutes later they reached a door that they slammed open without remorse "MARCO!"
"Geez-yoi, don't scream, way to be sneaky, and this is still a hospital." A blond man looked up from his desk towards the intruders of his personal office. He rose a brow at the state his to-be-patient was in, who was being carried by his younger brother Thatch.
"... You didn't think to take a wheelchair-yoi?"
"Ehm... This was faster?"
"Yes, and also a good way of jostling him up well when he has an obvious head injury."
"Huh, he doesn't have a head injury."
Another eyebrow made its way up his face "So, that's not blood dribbling onto your shirt behind his head then?"
The chef instantly looked down "Wher- OW SHIT!"
Pinching the bridge of his nose, the doctor released a sigh while getting up from his chair "Just put him on the bed. Gently."
While Marco started inspecting the teen, his sister suddenly spoke up. "Ace."
"Yoi?"
"You know him Haruta?"
"Yes, I mean no... I recognise him, he was a freshman at school when I was in the second year. So... he should be around 18 now."
"Hmm, thank you Haruta, I'll note it down."
Turning back to the teen he shone a light into his eyes, they were obviously blown... but there was still some reaction to them. Head trauma then, but it didn't seem to be too bad of a case. The wound in his hairline had also already stopped bleeding, the bleeding had even made it seem worse than it was. It would definitely leave a scar, but no surgery seemed to be needed.
The arm though... the arm was something else. Even without it turning dark shades of blues and purples, with the way it was bend, even a normal person with no medical knowledge would be able to see that something's wrong with it. It was definitely broken, to determine how bad the break was, where exactly the break was, and what needed to be done, x-rays were going to be needed. The teen will surely be stuck with a cast for a while, and since the break seemed to be at the joint... there was a high shot of him needing a brace for a long time after healing too.
Some moments prior, he had tried to touch the spot, but had instantly gotten a hiss out of the teen and thus retrieved his hand from the spot, they would learn more from the x-rays anyway, so he let it be.
After a while the boy in front of him suddenly laughed and reached an unsteady hand out towards him. He simply let him do as he wished, he had more patients try and touch things when they're not fully there, no harm in letting them explore. Before he could look at his charts again, a hand fell on his cheek, pulling his attention towards his patient. A small gasp left him at seeing the bright smile on a freckled face, before the next words interrupted the beautiful picture "haha, pine...apple, haha"
"ah..." Of course... he gently removed the hand from his cheek and patted the boy on the head, being careful of the wound there. "Why don't you try to rest-yoi?" Receiving one more smile and a breathy laugh, the teen seemed to follow his instruction and was out within a minute, softly snoring on the bed without a care in the world.
"..." Grabbing his pen, he made one more note on his papers 'Able to talk and recognizes shapes... no brain damage.'
Flashback end
'Yea... he wouldn't want to change a thing' With a soft laugh he stroked the scar one last time before leaning up to kiss his beautiful husband once more. Gently he placed his hands on Ace's back, before turning them onto their sides, pulling up the blankets not a moment later. They snuggled closer to each other's warmth, Ace hiding his face in Marco's chest, while Marco had laid his head down on top of soft black hair. It wasn't planned, but they surely could spare some time for an afternoon nap.
