Pooh and friends went down the halls. With Gypsy's help, they found the door to King Moonsoul's room and entered. It was bright blue. Candles of pale green, blue and purple. Lavender plant curtains hung over the nest of a pale red dragon. She was cradling her egg. Next to her was an already napping Ester. She lifted her head. Deep blue eyes weary but filled with wonder. "Oh." She spoke. "You're Pooh and friends. Come in. Come in."
Before long, Pooh was first to go into the room. He stood there for a moment before he bowed. "Nice to meet you, Queen Flamesong. Who do you feel?"
"Better...More or less." She shifted from her spot and looked over her egg. It seemed she was too afraid to leave it out of her sight. She smiled as Pooh's friends bowed before the queen. "So, you must have been the brave ones that helped Pooh save my egg."
Piglet nodded and formed a crooked smile. "Y-yes, your majesty. It was awful when it happened. I'm just glad we're able to help." He blushed. "Especially from a small and frightful animal like me." He tucked his hands and twisted his foot nervously on the floor.
"Your majesty," Roo said. "If it's okay to have a question?"
"Sure,but...may I have your names?"
"Oh." Roo said. "Sorry. My name's Roo."
Kanga walked up behind him. "I'm Kanga."
"Rabbit." Rabbit answered.
"Tigger! T-I-double guh ur! That spells Tigger!" Tigger laughed. He was about to go into song until Rabbit bopped him on the head.
"We don't have time for that!"
"Eeyore." Eeyore sighed. "Not that anyone cares."
"Gopher." Gopher said.
"P-p-p-p-p-piglet." Piglet stuttered.
"My name's Lumpy, miss." Lumpy bowed. The curve of his trunk taking on a J shape.
"Owl," Owl spoke. He bowed in the most exaggerated manner. "I believe you might have more information about your kingdom. My dear Uncle Hooford has written a lot about you but I don't know if anything has changed. Perhaps-" A glare from Rabbit and Kanga stopped in his tracks. Embarrassed, he straightened himself. He cleared his throat.
Queen Flamesong laughed. "What marvelous friends. I do hope my child hatches soon. That way they would be able to meet you properly. She fiddled with her nest. Her claws trying to avoid hitting Ester. Then, gazed up at them. Her eyes changed from laughter to concern. "I'm certain that my husband told you about the Hollow Realm." She blinked slowly when everyone nodded. She brought the egg closer. The heat of the egg gives her comfort. Her mind recalled how she became ill and her egg vanished when she woke up. Tears began to well up in her eyes.
"Your highness…" Pooh said. "If you don't mind me asking…" He looked down nervously. "How did you get sick?" He didn't notice the scowl from Rabbit's face.
Flamesong took a shuddery breath. "It was dinner when it happened. When I got sick I mean. I was so happy with the approaching day that my first child would hatch, Moonsoul and I threw a feast in excitement. I had a Star Minnow roast. I only had a few bites when the room began to spin." She looked down to see that Ester was now awake. Her feelings were unable to remain still. Her heart crackled in her chest.
"And that was when the egg was taken?" Rabbit asked. He immediately regretted it the moment Queen Flamesong nodded and finally cried.
Pooh walked over to the sad dragon. He hugged her. "I'm sorry Queen Flamesong." Tears began to form in his eyes. "I just wanted to understand." A soft touch of a wing caressed his back. It felt like being hugged by Honey Maple. He backed away and looked up at her. "Would you like to sing me a song to lighten up things?"
Queen Flamesong smiled. "Yes. I would like that."
Pooh cleared his throat. Took a moment to think. Then sang: "Honey bees among the trees. Dancing in the summer breeze. Won't you come to the Hundred Acres with me?" He began to dance around as he continued the tune. "Your heart hurts but I promise I'll be with you. Me and my friends will make your dream come true. Share a dance, a laugh, a smile. Walk in the Hundred Acre Wood. Please be happy even if it's for a while. Remember, I'll be with you forever. My dear friend I call my own. I will always be your home."
Suddenly, the air whooshed around them. Rabbit ducked. Piglet squealed and hid behind Eeyore. Owl stared in wonder as he took notice of butterflies flying around. Blue, yellow, red and purple swirling around them. Tigger cowered at the sight. Gopher stared in confusion, trying to shoo them away. Kanga and Roo were entranced by the colorful patterns. Pooh dropped his jaw. His paws reached out to a pale blue butterfly.
The butterflies flew toward Queen Flamesong. Delicate wings covering her. A light exploded. Flooding the room in a golden color. Everyone is temporarily blind. Then, just as it happened it soon ended. Queen Flamesong blinked. She began to notice something different about her. The heavy feeling in her heart was gone. She was no longer feeling as though her stomach would betray her. Her body didn't feel like an icicle. The red dragon slowly got up. Her ears twitched to a surprised whinny. She looked down at Pooh. Her dizzy spells were gone. "I'm...well again…" Tears returned. "I'm well again!" She laughed while her egg twitched in joy.
Pooh found himself being snatched by the large claws and held tightly. "Oof!"
"Thank you, Pooh bear! Thank you so much!" Queen Flamesong cried. In her joy, she let out a song that floated in the air. Flames from the candles nearby flickered and danced to the beat of her song. Some of them jumped and took the form of firebirds, zooming around the room. She smiled brightly as everyone smiled and laughed. The fear and sorrow burning away like a small campfire. A door opened and Queen Flamesong looked up to see her beloved Moonsoul staring at her in disbelief. "Hello...My sweet Moonsoul."
