REALIZING
Harry and Hermione are meant to be together—duh! So what happens—about the 7th
year—when they realize it? SSS! (Sorry So Short!)
Chapter 1—Discovery
Hermione Granger flipped another page. She was rereading Hogwarts: A History for
the 17th time. By the 7th it was tiring, and by the 15th it was just plain boring, but
Hermione read it just the same.
Ron Weasly, Hermione's best red-headed friend, walked into the Gryffindor
common room, where Hermione was trying to work. Hermione, Ron, and their best
friend, Harry Potter, were chosen for Gryffindor at the beginning of their 7 years at
Hogwarts. Now, at the end of their Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
education, they were still in Gryffindor and ready to embark on the magical world
hemselves.
"What are you doing, Hermione?" Ron asked her, exasperated.
"What does it look like I'm doing?" Hermione snapped. "Sorry," she said under
her breath afterwards.
Ron continued, "Well, it looks like you're reading Hogwarts: A History for the
14th time!"
"17th," Hermione corrected him.
"Okay, 17th. Are you trying to memorize it or something?"
Hermione made a dignified scoffing sound. "And what have you been doing?
Something useless, I suppose."
"Wizard's chess with Neville."
"As I said, useless."
"My chess skills saved our souls once, don't you forget it," said Ron proudly.
"Hmm. Where's Harry?" said Hermione, changing the subject.
"In Hogsmeade with Lisa."
Hermione pursed her lips in disgust. Harry had been dating Elisabeth Mane for
about a month. Lisa was a prissy blue-eyed blonde—one whom Hermione disapproved
of. She was very annoying to Hermione—and she got C's!
Ron watched her, amusement dancing in his eyes. "You really hate her, don't
you?"
"It's not that I hate her," Hermione said quickly. "It's just…"
"You hate her."
"That's not what I was going to say."
"Uh-huh, sure."
"Yes," Hermione emphasized.
Ron rolled his eyes. He continued, "Well, I'm going to see Professor
McGonagall about our homework."
"'Work out a spell about changing one animal into another and back again',"
Hermione recited.
"I know that," Ron said, defending himself, "just not how. And I know you're
not going to help me out there."
"Correct!"
This time Ron made a scoffing noise and left.
30 minutes later, Hermione sighed and shut her book at Chapter 11. Despite
what she'd told Ron, the only reason Hermione was rereading was to get her mind off
of Harry and Lisa.
At that moment, Harry was standing outside the common room. The door was
open, so Hermione could hear.
"I ha a great time tonight," Harry was saying.
"Me, too," Lisa said in her prissy, baby voice.
There was a pause, presumably for a hug or kiss.
"Well, bye, Harry."
"Bye, Lisa." Harry stepped inside.
"Well," Hermione said in a disapproving voice, "I see you've been busy today."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Oh, nothing."
Harry, with a confused expression on his face, went up to bed.
Hermione gathered her things and went to the girls' dormitory, fighting off the
strange feeling of jealousy rising inside of her.
