Disclaimer: I don't own this shit
An: ...I'm going insane my dudes and dudettes and all those in-between or outside the bounds of gender. I had previously promised to finish this(with a planned 32 chapters total) by its second anniversary(april 27th). I don't like going back on my word...so I'm going to try cranking out half a book in that time, yay! Also there will not be an epilogue...but there will be a 33rd chapter for the "credits" section and I'm hoping a Q & A. If you remember a question you wish to ask(pertaining to the story, myself, my editor, or anything within the BNHA fanbase) by the conclusion of this chapter, then please PM it to me, or put it in the reviews. Obviously, some of them will be answered in the chapters that haven't been written yet..but ask away. There's no limit to how many you ask, but if there are a lot I might do more than one Q & A.
Without further ado(yes ado, not adieu), enjoy!
Chapter Seventeen: Flailing Final
Cementoss made quick work of the first pair, Kirishima and Sato. Although they used their quirks nicely to start, pounding through the pros continual walls, they couldn't get in close enough to fight. Already, the two had proven that the practical part of the final exams wasn't as simple as it seemed. Though Aizawa had said the pros would tone it down a bit, it seemed their experience and power was just too different.
Next, was Tsuyu and Tokoyami's struggle against the teacher with the Quirk that created clones, Ectoplasm. The team lasted longer then their predecessors, using their versitility and strange Quirks to destroy the clones and try to zero in on the original. Their strategy steers more toward escape, as a majority of the class seems to believe this is the best route after watching the first fight. They are overwelmed by so many of the clones, but surprisingly make it near the escape gate.
They looked to be losing, when Ectoplasm created a giant clone to block their path, and trapped Tsuyu. However, her Quirk got her out of it, and Tokoyami's help allowed them to pass.
Power Loader takes on Yaoyorozu and Ojiro, the strange pairing of a completely normal seeming teen and the one who was top of the class. The teacher faces them in a dirt area littered with traps. Luckily, Ojiro's menouvaribility and Yaoyorozu's many applications allow them to stay away from them. They escape quickly when the ground collapses beneath them, only for Yaoyorozu to counter it with a quickly made pole to vault them through the exit. Ojiro helped by making sure to keep her balanced.
After them, was the fight of Aoyama and Iida versus Thirteen. It seemed a strange match-up, mostly iida's speed against the strength of Thirteen's black hole. He carried Aoyama on his back so the teen could cover him, and fire the belly-button laser without risk of being sucked in. They made it to the gate when Iida, no longer able to hold the french-loving teen, let him go, causing Thirteen to pull back and giving the two time to escape using Iida's Reciprico Burst.
The unfortunate team against the school's principal were Ashido and Kaminari. Against his high intelligence they didn't stand a chance, the mouse-bear trapping them with destroyed buildings and making it to where they couldn't even use their quirks. Time runs out with them inside one of the buildings Nedzu decides to collapse, and they fail.
Next was Jirou and Koji facing Present Mic. It went terribly for both as their quirks required sound which the pro produced too much off. Jirou, fortunately finds a way to cancel him out, only to realize Koji has a fear of the only thing that could help them, bugs. After the tree-like boy realizes Jirou has been hurt, he faced his fear, and sent the bugs to distract Present Mic while they escape.
Following them is Snipe versus Hagakure and Shoji. The pro fires a barrage of bullets at them. Shoji tell Hagakure to sneak around while he draws the fire, waits a while, and then comes out with his hands up. Snipe is distracted by the apparent surrender, which gives Hagakure time to capture him with handcuffs. They pass.
Then came the battle of Izuki's mentor. She was against the over-eager Mineta, and under-estimated Sero. The tape-user is knocked out early protecting Mineta, and put to sleep. Midnight left him to follow after Mineta, since she obviously couldn't resist hurting him, with her whip. Midnight got distracted enough to be stuck into place long enough for Mineta to carry Sero out the escape gate. Unfortunately, Sero failed since he was caught, but Mineta passed.
Finally, with only two battles left, it's Izuki's turn. She glances in Bakugou's direction only to find he is silent. She wonders if he'll even help her, but soon stops wondering. She heads down to face her homeroom teacher, whether or not she'll be alone in the fight.
Izuki belatedly realized that Aizawa gave himself a huge disadvantage, seeing as use of his quirk on her would result in seizures. Then again, this was a test, and that could be turned around to create an advantage as long as he's willing to attack her.
Bakugou was already somewhere in one of the fake buildings, seemingly getting prepared for a stealth attack. Izuki grinned, realizing that he wouldn't have chosen such a tactic unless he was planning on working as a team. From the way they usually fought or avoided each other in class, Aizawa wouldn't be expecting teamwork.
Inching along the side of a wall slowly, Izuki kept an eye out, trying to pinpoint the pro. Remembering how she'd used pressure to bounce off the walls as a counter-measure to Stain, she kicked off her shoes and hopped onto a roof, glancing around frantically, and running from rooftop to rooftop. A small explosion, barely hearable, a definately a sound nobody but Izuki would recognize, sounded to her left. She pivoted, still grinning and thanking Bakugou under her breath.
He had either thought more about what she had said, or had permitted a temporary truce so they could both pass the exam. Maybe he had finally realized she wasn't weak when she won the festival. Whatever it was, she didn't really care. She only focused on winning.
Ponytail trailing behind her, she sprinted as silently as possible, not even slowing to drop down the side of a building and into the street once more. She carefully made her way opposite to the building Bakugou was hiding out in, ready to pounce. It wasn't long before the contrast of Aizawa's white scarf against his black clothes allowed her to spot him. Tip-toeing around to attack from behind, she sprung out of hiding.
"As I expected," Said Aizawa, protecting himself with his scarf and turning to presumably erase her Quirk.
"You two will never work together, which gives me the advantage." Izuki's eyes flashed, and she ducked under his attack, rolling away each time his weapon-accessory came in her direction. She danced backward, leading him to where Bakugou could have a clear shot. In an attempt to distract the pro as Bakugou prepped his gauntlet explosions, she feinted an attack at his ankle.
At that moment, Bakugou silently approached from the opening. And the teen was never silent, so Aizawa was certainly surprised to hear explosions as they injured his back, but the smell of singed suit and skin didn't seem to bother the pro as he sprung away onto a nearby building. Glacing at each other, Izuki and Bakugou chased him.
"So you are working together, excellent, but I'm afraid brute force won't work against me." Izuki thought about getting Hitoshi to have a talk with this man, maybe he could get some good tips on how to annoy people.
Aizawa used his scarf-weapon to swing above the ground like a ninja, twisting and turning whenever Bakugou tried firing an explosion, and hefting himself out of Izuki's quirk range. She grit her teeth, frustrated that her quirk's curent capacity only worked to enhance herself or hurt others in close range. She wished she had some way to attack from a distance.
As Bakugou continued his barrage of explosions, Izuki tagged along behind, thinking. An idea came to her.
"Kacchan, catch me!" Then she subsequently jumped off a building, knowing that she hadn't called him by that name in a long time, so he would most likely be non-to appreciative about it. As predicted, he ditched Aizawa, rocketing toward her like a missile.
"Since when did you start with that again!?" He yelled, directly in her ear.
"Sorry, I just thought, with him so far away from the gate, we might be able to take a shortcut." Bakugou grunted, probably considering even though he no doubt wanted to fight.
"Whatever, nerd." Then, he cut right for the direction of the gate, Aizawa now chasing them. Unfortunately for the teacher, a swinging scarf couldn't keep up with the rate of Bakugou's explosion. Even though it probably caused him a lot of pain to explode so continuously, they made it through the gate and passed. Bakugou put out his fire as soon as possible, sweating like crazy. They had made it.
"That was a terrible plan, Deku. I guess you could only survive with me carrying your weight after all, huh?" Izuki grinned. Even though Bakugou came off as aggressive and rude, maybe because he was, he wasn't a bad person. Izuki thought maybe they could be friends again.
As she was thinking this, the rest of the class was readying to watch the final showdown of Todoroki and Uraraka against All Might. Izuki arrived just in time to watch, while Bakugou disappeared somewhere, probably to take a shower. His sweat was literally a fire hazard after all.
The half cold half hot teen started the same way he always did, brute strength. Though, he showed that he had changed by at least talking to Uraraka before the fight. All Might met him head on, destroying everything with his amazing power, as Todoroki's ice created a ring around the two. Uruaka joined in by circling the pair, levitating debris like she had in her fight against Bakugou in the Sport's Festival. With All Might supposedly distracted by the alternating temperatures, the girl let gravity bury him in rubble.
Then, Todoroki and her sprinted for the exit. Unfortunately, All Might's strength allowed him to escape and fling them back toward the city, though they were still closer to the gate than before. Todoroki began his barrage once more, raging a hurricane of various flames and sublimating shards of ice. Uraraka dropped more rocks upon the symbol of peace, and the pair were off once more for the gate. Yet All Might had not given up.
They repeated the same strategy as time weedled away, barely making it as the time ticked down to only seconds. Everyone who had passed cheered, while those who had failed waited for Aizawa to be rid of them at last.
"None of you will be expelled." Stated the teacher, causing the students to sigh in relief.
"But those who failed will be taking extra lessons, while everyone else works on strengthening their quirks."
"Of course." Kaminari interjected, almost looking like he'd rather be expelled.
"You will all be coming to a specialized Summer Camp, so don't get lazy."
An: Since I haven't posted in so long, I am gifting this chapter to you today. That's two in one day!
If you didn't catch the first note, I will be attempting to follow up on my promise to finish this, completely and totally, by April 27th. Which means, when it's done, there will be time for questions. If you have anyhting you want answered in the 33rd chapter Q & A, leave a review, or PM me. Thanks for reading!
