Chapter 4: Secreted Away

Katsuki wasn't sure about having a caterpillar as a teacher, but however much he detested slimy things, the guy wasn't actually too bad. He respected him for maintaining the life of a pro hero, keeping up with his teaching job, and being able to keep both jobs while still insulting everyone he met.

That was the kind of thing that made Katsuki know it was possible for someone like him to become a hero. Not that he'd ever tell the caterpillar.

What he didn't like about Aizawa was that he lied. He'd started with just omitting the truth, something Katsuki did often when he wanted to insult someone indirectly or when he was talking to his beast of a mother, but then he'd lied.

Aizawa had said that those who failed would fail forever. At least that's how Katsuki translated it, but then Deku had failed. He'd broken his arm beyond just surface level, and Katsuki still wasn't sure how he did it, but Aizawa had let him pass.

Katsuki again was left wondering what other things Deku had that he lacked. He'd clawed through the crowd when he'd seen Deku's arm jerk and snap, transforming purple and bulging with unreleased blood tension. He'd screamed.

"He doesn't have a Quirk!" As a warning. Whatever this was, it wasn't a Quirk. It wasn't power either, in was degrading and could only result in pain. Then Glasses had shot him down about the power, had said Deku did have a Quirk, had said that he'd saved Roundface in the Entrance Exam. And Katsuki had wanted to tare Glasses to pieces, but Aizawa had stolen his power.

He'd been powerless again, for a split second, and it was like the fire and flames and burning flesh had all returned to him at once. Katsuki had seen the look on Deku's face: concerned, ashamed, dejected.

He was hiding something from Katsuki. Katsuki stopped trying to attack and gasped. Deku couldn't have a Quirk. He just couldn't.

Because that would mean...that would mean that Deku had had power his entire life, but had still figured out that without it he wasn't powerless. He'd still known, and had everything Katsuki couldn't.

He'd forgotten about Katsuki.
