Chapter 9: Aspire

Titles were uniportant. It was determination and power that mattered. Katsuki had learned recently that intent could be counted too. But titles would never be important.

Even if there was something behind it, something meant to instill fear, dread, hope, or inspiration, it wasn't the title that truly brought those types of emotions boiling to the surface.

No, Katsuki had known long ago that actions spoke louder than words. On that note, he might not be doing very well, so he didn't see how any title could help.

"Lord Explosion Murder." That sounded like a name everyone would expect from him. He was a tyrant, an explosion waiting to happen. His personality was static, and there was nothing uniquee about him. That's what people seemed to think about him. Even Deku sometimes catorgorized him the same way. He would let them believe he was that person.

It could come in handy later.

Then Deku went up to pick his own name, and it felt like everything he thought, all his opinions, had been disregarded in one blow. The nerd had chosen the very name Katsuki had gifted him so long ago. A name that meant 'useless', a name that meant nothing to anyone else. But to Katsuki, and to Deku he supposed, that name was a declaration.

And suddenly titles meant something, this one saying,

Everything you've done means nothing to me.

Katsuki thought it should mean something.
