The Shinobi from the Hidden Vault 3

A week has finally passed since his graduation test, and now all that was missing was Naruto to go back to the ninja academy once more, as a follow up to team selections, which was really a means to an end for the young ninja's academy years.
Paying no mind of anyone around him as he was happily playing Pipfall, as Sasuke sat next to him waiting for this day to get going already.
"Hey" came the voice of the familiar pink haired girl, Sakura if Naruto recalled, "What's up" Naruto asked as he paused his game.
"Move over, I want to sit next to Sasuke" said Sakura as Naruto should've guessed, but he wasn't going to move right away for a multitude of reasons, mainly the whole she was rude, and Sasuke didn't want another fan girl fight to break out this early in the day.
"Yeah just a minute, let me finish my game here" said Naruto before he was forcibly yeeted from his chair.
"Ow" Naruto said as he was tossed over and hit his back against the wall of the front of the class, "Naruto, are you alright" came the gentle voice of the only girl who never viewed him with scorn or seemed to ever fawn for Sasuke.
"I'll be alright, but thanks for asking Hinata" said Naruto as he rolled back down and before getting up to his feet, "I'm glad" said Hinata.
Looking back up where he was once sitting at, Naruto saw what was expected as another fan girl fight broke out as Sasuke remained cool and unfazed, but was really counting down every minute for the moment that he'll never have to see any of them once they divide them in teams.
"Oh um, Naruto you dropped this" said Hinata as she picked up a stimpack that fell out of his jacket.
"Oh, thanks Hinata" said Naruto as he took back the all purpose medical syringe.
"Out of curiosity what is that" asked Hinata, "This here is an all purpose medical stimpack injection needle, from what my brother told me, it's best used when you feel severly injured after a fight or when need to repaired crippled limbs on the spot, though I think he might've been exaggerating on that last part" said Naruto before handing it back to Hinata.
"Why don't you keep it" said Naruto with a smile, "Oh Naruto, I couldn't possibly take something like this from you" said Hinata, "Keep it, I got a ton more on me, plus there's like a never ending stockpile we have back in the vault that Dr. Watts is more than happy to give away if I asked for it, on top of Radaway and Rad-x".
"Ok, thank you Naruto" said Hinata bashfully as Naruto still never understood why'd she was such a nervous butterfly when around him, granted she did have the voice of a nervous angel when talking to everyone, but to him it seems to go up to 1-111.
Time Skip
Eventually Iruka came in and finally informed everyone here who their groups are to be, which to Naruto's dumb luck and prediction, he did wound up with Sasuke, but unfortunately they got stuck with one of his more aggressive fan girls as well.
Once teams had been made, everyone but team 7 had already left in order to go through team orientation and getting to know their sensei.
So far they've been waiting for 30 minutes and counting as Naruto went back to playing Pipfall, while putting on some music on his pip-boy for his teams to enjoy.
The song currently playing just so happened to be a Beach Boys song called 'California Girls', as song Naruto could sing to heart, while it remained as Sasuke's more favorite songs.
"You know, I'd really to someday go to California and meet these California girls" Sasuke said out loud as this struck a nerve in Sakura's heart since she had an idea what Sasuke was into, and knew she was definitely lacking in the desired California girl image.
"Honestly I like to go there too, but also where Gil and everyone else came from, though they told me that the reason they got here was because they survived from getting nuked to hell" said Naruto.
While not willing to give Naruto the time of day, the boy did remained a mystery to her, since half the things he said were confusing as much as his clothing, equipment, and apparently the weapon he and Sasuke now carried.
"Out of curiosity, what exactly is nuking if you don't mind me asking" asked Sakura, "I'm not entirely sure, from what I was able to pick up and understand when asking about, it's essentially a sort of giant bomb that not only explodes, but causes something called radiation exposure, whatever that is" Naruto said.
Not sure whether to be upset at Naruto cause he's clearly stupid and didn't pay attention, or because he doesn't genuinely know was frustrating to her, as Sakura rolled her eyes.
"Do you at least know what California is and where is it on the map" asked Sakura, "Well you're not gonna find it any of the maps here in our world, since California is split between north and south of both the Northwest and Southwest commonwealths of America" explained Naruto.
"Ok let me stop you right there, and let me call you out from your bluffing and all this other stupid nonsense you've been saying right now" Sakura said as everything he's been saying was definitely from a cheesy shonen manga she's yet to heard of.
"Hey don't get me wrong it was confusing to me at first and not even Sasuke here believed me, but it's the honest truth, and if you don't believe me we can all head out to my vault once our jackass of a sensei gets here" said Naruto.
"Speaking of, how long have we've been waiting for" asked Sasuke, "At this point we're getting close to reaching the hour mark" said Naruto as he checked his pip-boy.
"Alright screw this, let's give the guy 5 more minutes, and if he doesn't get here by then, I'm going to find some things to shoot with this BB gun you've given me" said Sasuke.
"I had a feeling Naruto gave that to you, but my question is why" asked Sakura, "Well I've no use for it since I got this thing right here, but I figured since whoever got to be on my team, I thought that having 2 members trained with guns would indefinitely ensure our teams survival rate by a lot" said Naruto.
"And you couldn't give him a weapon like yours because" asked Sakura, "They're too dangerous, and frankly speaking I'm not entirely comfortable carrying this with me, so imagine how I feel if I gave Sasuke one of these and he didn't know how to get a feel and use for them and wounds up getting someone innocent killed or worse himself" reasoned Naruto.
Hearing him explained his reasoning was no more than looking out for not only their team, but his friend, really impressed Sakura as she gave a smile.
"Ok I can see that" said Sakura, before the door to the class opened, revealing their future sensei who had silver hair, a mask covering half his face, and his headband covering his left eye.
"Hello there" said the man, "Are you are sensei" asked Sakura, "Indeed I am".
"About time, we were just about to leave you note and head out somewhere and play some baseball" said Naruto, "Sorry about that, but I just happened to get lost on the road of life" said the man.
Hearing that lame excuse did not impressed the trio of young ninjas, in fact they're certain, if not hoping that this slacker was just all part of a ruse to reveal their real sensei was just pulling a prank on them.
"Anyways, a lot of time has been wasted, why not meet me back on the roof of the school and we'll have a quick orientation" said their sensei as they all begrudgingly obliged.
Once on the roof, Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura sat in front of their sensei, waiting to hear what he had to say.
"Alright so let's get started with introductions while sharing a little bit about you, and to give you an example, I'll start off" said their sensei.
"I'm your guys' new sensei and my names Kakashi, I like certain things, a dislike certain things, my hobby's are stuff that aren't that interesting, and as for my dream in life, well that's really none of your guys business" said Kakashi as he's further digging himself a hole of being the most unimpressive and rather a sick joke for the 3 young ninja.
"Quick question, is it too late for us to get a new sensei" asked Naruto as he basically said what Sasuke and Sakura was think as the ladder looked at him mouth agape.
"Sorry, but these things are normally preselected and can't be change, especially on the genin's account" said Kakashi.
"Ok my next question is if it's too late for me to drop out in becoming a ninja and get the hell out of here" said Naruto bluntly as Sasuke cracked a smirk as Sakura paled over how ballsy he was to an elite ninja and their sensei.
"We'll actually get to that part after orientation since you brought it up, but until then, please tell us more about you" said Kakashi.
"My name is Naruto Uzumaki, or Nick De La Cruz back in the vault, things that I like are sugar bombs, Nuka-Cola, holotape games, Grognak the Barbarian comics, baseball, and my family, things I dislike are actually just about almost everyone here in the village, someone beating my high score, Yumyum Deviled Eggs, and anyone trying to act like a tough guy or an ass to my best friend, my hobby's including shooting things with whatever I can get in my hand, playing baseball, learning all new survival skills from my big brother, and just recently I started to learn how to manufacture bullets for myself, my dream in life is to help Gil and the other denizens of the vault to reunite with their families, by any means or way" said Naruto.
"My, aren't you just an interesting individual, next why not we have our only girl in the group to tell us all about her" said Kakashi.
"Right my name is Sakura Haruno, the things I like is more of a person" as she stared at Sasuke who simply rolled his eyes back as Naruto kinda had a feeling that's where their conversation will go.
"My dream for the future is embarrassing to say out loud" said Sakura still staring at Sasuke, "As for my dislikes, I simply hate Naruto".
"Seriously, why not tell us how you really feel about me" said Naruto sarcastically, "You're annoying, you were given a free to pass this time around by taking a different test than everyone else, and I'm more than certain you're a terrible liar or enjoy making things up to sound cool" said Sakura as Naruto admitingly felt butt hurt.
"Alright that's enough, why not you tell us about yourself" Kakashi said to Sasuke, "My name is Sasuke Uchiha, things that I like besides my brother and best friend are tomatoes, training, the music Naruto listens back in the vault, Red Menace, and visiting said vault, my dislikes so far is Sakura or anyone who wrongfully dislikes Naruto without giving him a chance to get to know each other, and waiting for long periods of time or my own time being wasted, my hobby's are training, cooking, and reading whatever I can get my hands on back in the vault, as for my dream to someday rebuild the Uchiha clan alongside my brother Itachi" said Sasuke.
"Well certainly you 3 have been the most colorful students I've had so far" said Kakashi as he had his work cut up.
After that, he explained there was one final test to determine whether they were ready to be qualified as ninjas or not, and that it'll be tomorrow, and this is on top of him explaining that the rate of failure was pretty damn high.
Not deterred, as much as Naruto could easily call it quits, they all agreed to meet up tomorrow for their final test.
After that Kakashi left without saying a word, leaving the trio alone once again.
"So Sasuke, want to hang out or do something" asked Sakura trying to established a new formed connection with the boy she loved.
"As much as I'd like to say no and go home to train, I figured you won't believe a thing either I or Naruto tell you until we take you to the vault" said Sasuke as Sakura still felt partially dejected, but was happy to spend more time with Sasuke, even if Naruto was the annoying 3rd wheel.
"Alright, let's head back to the vault, I think Gary said he had your weapon ready for you Sasuke" said Naruto as he began to lead them to his home while playing 'The Wanderer' on his pip-boy for them to enjoy for their journey.
After the long hike home, Sakura was actually impressed that Naruto had to travel so much distance on a daily just to get in the village, and to get back home.
Eventually they spotted a large cog like gear symbol on the ground with the numbers 115 on it.
Once they had all got on it, the ground began to shake before they all descended down wards into the ground.
Eventually they had all reached the outer entrance of the vault, where they saw 3 of the vaults security at the front door, waiting to see who just came back.
"Nick, welcome back and I see you brought in Sam and new friend, who is she" asked one of the vault security personal, "This is our new friend Sally, she's gonna be part of my team from now on and I figured it was appropriate she'd know where I came from and learn from us" said Naruto.
As much as Sakura wanted to protest the sudden name change, Sasuke nudged her and shook his head no, before following along, figuratively and literally as they continued their way to the main living areas of the vault.
Instantly Sakura was amazed to be brought into a whole new world, as she saw people wearing the same uniform, and going about their day.
"Wow, I must say this is pretty amazing Naruto" said Sakura, "Told you I lived in a vault" chuckled Naruto as he began to lead them to the armory area, where the 2 vaults craftsmen remain at work.
"Hey guys" called Naruto, "Hello Nick" said Gary as he spotted not only Sasuke, but the newly to be acquainted Sakura.
"I see you brought some new company alongside your friend Sam" said Gary, "Yeah her names Sally, and she'll be part of me and Sam's team from now on" said Naruto.
"Well if that's the case I reckon the little lady would want to be well equip like you 2" said Gary, "Oh um, thank you for being thoughtful sir, but I don't know if I'll ever be adjusted to anything that I've seen down here, no offense mind you" said Sakura.
"None taken, you should've seen Sam here when he was little and coming to the vault when Nick brought him over, the kid was practically speechless" said Gary with a chuckle.
"Now I know you must also be here for your weapons, and lucky for you both, they're ready" said Gary as he walked away from his station and lead the trio to his recent craftsmanship.
"Nick, you're gonna love this" said Gary as he revealed Naruto his promised bat, lying on a table.
"Here you go, a brand spanking new bat made up of oak wood, sharp-thick nails around the head, and I went ahead and replaced the normal adhesive grip with material completely made up of cork, giving it a soft, but sturdy grip whenever you swing for a homer" said Gary.
"Thanks Gary this is awesome" said Naruto, "Anytime kid, just remember the next time you're free I want you to visit me to give you hands on experience for the next blunt or bladed weapon, speaking of, Sam I didn't forget about you" said Gary.
"Here you go, a brand new machete with serrated teeth on the back, never know is you need to cut through thick wood or really dig into someone like a bone saw" said Gary as he handed Sasuke his new machete.
"Thank you, I really appreciate this" said Sasuke, "You're welcome kid, just as you're more than welcome to learn from me or anyone here in the vault" said Gary with a smile.
Once they had left the armory, Naruto gave Sakura the grand tour of the vault showing off the living quarters, medical bay, and the dining area where water and food is equally distributed, which has admitingly has became lose since there's been private trade of these things with Konoha as they deliver someone with this stuff at no added cost other than to house Naruto.
Once they had finished their grand tour, they finally headed towards the De La Cruz/Uzumaki residence, where Maria was washing dishes.
"Hey mom" greeted Naruto, "Nick welcome back and I see you brought Sam and a new friend, oh my is she your girlfriend" said Maria.
"She's not my girlfriend mom, she's me and Sam's new teammate once we start taking ninja missions" said Naruto, "Oh I see, she's Sam's boyfriend" said Maria teasingly as Sakura felt happy that someone saw them both as a couple.
"Nope, she's not my type Maria, she's just an acquaintance of ours who was curious about Nick's home" said Sasuke as Sakura felt her heart getting stabbed by his words.
"I see, well why don't you kids play in Nick's room and I'll get a head start in making dinner in a bit" said Maria, "Thanks mom" said Naruto as they all went to his room where waiting for him was his dog.
"Hey Dog Meat, how you doing boy" greeted Naruto before the German shepherd went and pounced the blonde vault dweller.
"Wait his names Dog Meat" asked Sakura as she found the name to be out there in terms of naming dogs, "Everyone's a critic" said Naruto sarcastically, "Nope, you really shot yourself on the foot on this one" said Sasuke as he went and layed on his bed grabbing an issue of Grognak the Barbarian issue number 20 where he faces against the Octo-Lobster.
"I seriously don't want to hear that from the cat lover" said Naruto as he sat on his terminal to play some Red Menace and beat Sasuke's high score.
As the boys went about doing their own thing, Sakura took a glimpse and observed the things Naruto had in his room, ranging from a stack of comics and magazines, posters of Vault-tech and American propaganda, and a couple of family photo's.
One she easily recognized as Naruto being with his mom and what she assumed to be his older brother, but the other contained a picture of his older brother and mom with 4 other men surrounding them.
"Hey Naruto, mind telling me who these people are with your mom and brother" asked Sakura.
"Oh, those are Gil's other older brothers, I never got to met them yet, but someday I hope to" said Naruto as Sakura recalled his end goal in life was to become the Overseer someday and reunite Gil with his missing brothers.
"Mind telling me their names and who they are" asked Sakura as Naruto paused his game completely to do so.
"Well the second youngest brother is Chris, this guy right here who's wearing a football jersey" pointed at Naruto to a young man wearing said jersey with a bowl cut hair.
"The middle brother, right here is named Emile" said Naruto pointing at a big boned sibling holding a copy of 'Nikola Tesla and You' as his hair was clean kept.
"The second oldest brother is this one here, they call him Nano" said Naruto pointing at the tallest sibling who's hair was in a top knot as he held a soccer ball in his hands and was practically wearing pajamas.
"And the oldest was Art, this guy right here" said Naruto pointing at the one man in the middle of his family as he kept his hair long like a certain road warrior and had a beard, but in spite of his facial appearance his clothes were clean and neat as he had on a warm smile.
"As for what I know about them, they all served in the Anchorage war, apparently the last war America had ever fought, with some being stationed and sent to Anchorage and some being sent to tackle on the Chinese head on" said Naruto.
"So all your brothers were soldiers" asked Sakura, "Not all of them, Gil was the only one not to go serve since 2 weeks before he was old enough to enlist, the war had ended" said Naruto.
"But if you want to know what they did specifically, you're better off asking Gil since mom gets a bit emotional, especially when talking about" said Naruto.
As Naruto continued to chat and get along with Sakura, Sasuke peaked from below his comics and couldn't help but crack a smile.
Later
After having dinner, it was time for Naruto to see his friends off as they had a full day ahead of them.
"Thanks for coming by again guys" said Naruto, "No thank you for having us over and Naruto, I'm sorry for not only what I said but how I've always treated and viewed you" said Sakura.
"Apology accepted, Sasuke you sure you got things from here in walking Sakura back home" Naruto said teasingly, "Yes I got it from here, mom" said Sasuke with equal amounts of sarcasm as they ascended upwards to the surface.
Finally alone with Sasuke, Sakura wanted to say something to fill the silence, but Sasuke went and beat her to the punch.
"Before you get any crazy ideas, I've no intention dating you, let alone giving you the time of day" said Sasuke as Sakura was shot down before she could even get one word in.
"With that said, I find you to be just a little more tolerable compared to the other girls, after today that is" said Sasuke as Sakura felt a slight glimmer of hope that maybe someday her chances of dating Sasuke might happen.
While they were walking back to the village, Naruto was getting ready for bed as he did had to get up even earlier as his thoughts did drift to Gil's brothers as he wondered what they were up to and if they'd be able to accept him one day.
In the Commonwealth Institute
Upon the discovery of the sudden arrival of Vault 115, the Institute wasted no time in making contact with the citizens of the vault in the pursuit and purpose to someday save mankind, through their own sick means.
While this didn't go without conflict, both factions were able to find a truce and decided to all collaborated for the time being.
But as this went on, what we're currently looking at were 2 of the De La Cruz brothers who were now full members.
Emile being a member of Robotics and Engineering, and the Bioscience departments respectfully as he was finishing installing new implants for his brother, who was one of the many enforcers to venture out and deal with any problems of the Institute outside of its walls.
Capitol Wasteland
As the campaign of Lyon's Brotherhood to purge the capitol wasteland of all of its problems, things got more interesting when they found the sudden arrival and existence of Vault 115 out of nowhere.
In the best effort to make contact with the dwellers, they just barely managed to save a handful of survivors from a Super Mutant raid, who either killed or kidnapped and turned most of the dwellers into Super Mutants, as they were all proven to be more smarter and dangerous than what the Brotherhood had been used to.
Thankfully of the handful of survivors, the one to take a stand to face up against the newly organized Super Mutant army was none other than Nano as he was given the title of Paladin, and in mission he's been on has been a successful one.
Mojave Wasteland
In the front lines of the 1st battle of the Hoover Dam, stood Art as he held a strong position by himself so that none of Caesar's Legion would dare get passed him or any of the young bright eyed recruits behind him as dead bodies pilled in front of him.
Wearing the Veteran Ranger armor, with the Sequoia revolver resting on his hip, he mowed down the Legion with an LMG he purchased from the Gun Runners.
As he continued to fought he asked himself why, but always found the answer, for the new government he believed in, the NCR, the people he wants to protect, his fellow Vault Dwellers, and more importantly he understood that this was simply all part of war.
And war, war never changes.
Alright guys another chapter done, definitely gonna turn this into a 5 shot before I move onto other things, so expect a new chapter to come out sometime in the near future.
