There're a couple things that I probably should have addressed in the previous chapter, but it had exactly 420 words. I'm too immature to mess that up. The notes that I have aren't actually complete. Only some parts have a complete summary. There isn't much order to what parts are complete and what parts aren't. For example, the epilogue is complete, but I won't be posting that for a while. I'll be posting these in the order that they would appear if this were the full story. If you want me to post the partially completed sections and update them later instead of waiting for me to finish before moving on, then let me know in the reviews.

Also, the notes may be rated T, but if the story was fully written, then it would probably be rated M due to violence. If anybody wants to use these notes to write a full story, then you're welcome to as long as I get some credit

Origins

Phoenix has been having trouble adapting to not being controlled by Cinder.

He is surprised and confused by the care he is being shown.

He constantly trains himself to the point of exhaustion.

He becomes frustrated that the training robots are weak, stop fighting when he is low on aura, and don't try to kill him.

He decides to go to the Emerald Forest to fight the Grimm, opponents who won't hold back.

He is overwhelmed when he is fighting the Grimm but is rescued by Ozpin as he passes out from blood loss.

He wakes up in the Beacon infirmary and is greeted by Ozpin again.

He forces Phoenix to take time to rest and recover.

He leaves several things for Phoenix to entertain himself.

Phoenix takes a particular interest in certain superhero comics.

He goes up onto the roof of the dorms to think about what he is going to do.

There are several flashbacks to Phoenix's time with Cinder during this part of the story.

The flashbacks are used to contrast his treatment at Beacon and how he was treated by Cinder.

One of Phoenix's first memories is Cinder having him say, "Without you, I am nothing."

He almost always had to wear a shock collar.

The collar also had a microphone and camera to monitor him and explosives that could be detonated to kill him at any time.

The collar was only removed during some of his training sessions because it made it harder for his opponents to target his neck.

He was trained by mercenaries and criminals hired or threatened by Cinder when he wasn't being trained by her.

He was regularly tortured to both raise his pain tolerance and teach him how to torture others.

He was regularly given doses of several different poisons and toxins so that he would become resistant or immune to them.

Cinder only told him his age and birthday, September 19, so that he associated the especially harsh training he received then with it.

He was taught non-physical skills while recovering from his injuries.

He started out loyal to Cinder, thinking that she cared about him and he just had to earn her approval, but this changed as time went on.

Some of the trainers who were being threatened helped Phoenix develop morals despite Cinder's efforts.

Trainers were often killed by Cinder in front of Phoenix when she believed they had outlived their usefulness.

He received training in numerous weapons while Cinder tried to decide what would best suit him.

He showed the most promise with hook swords.

He picked up his accent from Oliver Leeds, the mercenary who taught him how to use hook swords.

Phoenix was sent on his first mission when he was seven.

He was retrieving information on hunters and huntresses that would be used to hunt them down, but he was unaware of this at the time.

The collar was kept on during the mission to ensure that he didn't try to betray Cinder.

Seeing the world outside of his training further distanced his morals from Cinder's.

He went out of his way to make sure that there weren't any fatalities on missions.

Cinder burned Leeds to death in front of Phoenix when Phoenix was eleven because she thought they were getting too close.
