Alek lays bare his secrets that night in the Ottoman capital, but Deryn still struggles with her own deceptions. Unable to reveal it herself, the decision is made for her when the revolution goes off-rail and, for Deryn, the world abruptly ends.

Alek and Deryn thought had endured the worst the war had to offer. They were wrong. Now, a new enemy rises, threatening to tilt the delicate balance of the Great War forever.
