Clarke woke up to her phone ringing. The clock illuminated the corner of her room with 4:17am
'Call from (950) 876-5627' Lit up her screen. She silenced it, moments later it beeped letting her know there was a voice mail. She sighed grabbing the phone and hitting play.
His voice filled her room.
"Clarke baby, it's Emerson, your boyfriend. Blocking my number is childish, You should call me back, it will be better if you tell me where you are as opposed to me having to find you. I love you"
She sat up, checking his previous messages, he got a new number, she scrolled over and blocked that one. She sighed pushing the blankets off of her, his voice made her feel sick, any chances of her falling back asleep were gone now. She stood quietly and made her way to the kitchen, the sound of dogs paws hitting the floor followed her. She turned on the overhead light from the stove so there was enough light to see, she put the tea pot on and leaned against the counter waiting for it to be ready. The dogs sat by the back door watching her, she filled her cup, grabbed a blanket off the couch, and opened the door letting them out before following them and taking up residence in one of the foldable chaise lounge chairs. She sat quietly enjoying the silence, watching firefly's move around the yard. Callie climbed up laying between her legs and Roscoe sat next to her chair. She sat there for awhile drinking her tea and petting her dogs. Roscoe turned towards Bellamy's house, a low growl rumbled through him as he walked towards the fence. Clarke was just about to yell at him when Roma's loud voice echoed through the darkness, both dogs went crazy jumping on the fence and barking.
Clarke stood quickly, she whistled loudly before opening the door, they both turned and barreled past her in to the house. Just as she got settled back in bed, Roma's lights hit her bedroom wall signaling she was leaving. Clarke turned on her lamp and grabbed a book off her nightstand. She could feel sleep was not in the cards for her, and in an hour or two Lincoln would be up.
...
Bellamy walked Roma outside, her voice carried through the night. Before he could say anything Clarke's dogs went crazy. He could hear them jumping on the fence, the excessive barking was deafening in the silent night, they were louder than Roma and that was impressive. It was unusual for them to be outside in the dark. He could see a silhouette stand from the lawn chair, shortly after everything was quite again. He walked Roma to the car, he kissed her goodbye and stood waiting for her to pull away. A light switched on in Clarke's house drawing his attention. He made his way back to his bedroom and grabbed his phone, his finger hovered above her number. He smiled and hit the message option.
Bellamy: You up?
His phone buzzed in his hand with a response that made him laugh.
Clarke: If this is a booty call you should probably wait till your side piece is gone for more than five minutes.
"Well that's interesting" Bellamy whispered to himself.
Bellamy: If you were my 'booty call' there wouldn't be anyone else. I'm not like that.
Clarke: Shouldn't you be asleep?
Bellamy: I could ask you the same thing!
He laid down waiting for an answer.
Clarke: My mind won't shut off
Bellamy: Going back to the beginning of this conversation, did you think I was messaging you for a piece of ass?
Clarke: No, I was joking based on the cliché 'You up?'
Bellamy: And to think I was almost excited to see if you were interested.
Clark: Goodnight Bellamy.
Bellamy: Goodnight lol
...
Clarke turned her light off ensuring that conversation was over. She could feel her face heat up, between her mother controlling her every move and her ex-boyfriend constantly asking for sex in hopes to get her pregnant and inherit her money, she had made it a point to never do anything more then make out with him. That was the extent of her experience, that and a few movies and books with smut scenes. Something told her Bellamy could put all those books and movies to shame, which is exactly why she was avoiding that situation.
...
Lincoln took Clarke to breakfast so he could tell her all about how he got a job at the local gym and was loving it so far.
"I get paid to work out, and train clients"
"That sounds fun"
"Do you know who my first client is?"
"Bellamy?"
"No, Octavia. Do you have him on the mind? that answer was instant" he smiled.
"No, I just thought it would be a guy" she shook her head, before changing the subject.
"I got another phone call from Emerson" she opened her phone to voicemail and handed it to him.
He listened to it, she could see him clenching his teeth as it went on. When it was finished he set on table and slid it back to her.
"Clarke, I still don't think he knows where we are but you need to think about changing your number, maybe a prepaid trac-phone or something. Something that doesn't require you to put in any personal info, you just use the card to refill it." He suggested as he motioned to a waitress for the check.
"Yeah, I'll grab one before work" she agreed. Lincoln paid and they headed out, he dropped her off at Walmart on the way to work.
She spent a few minutes looking over all the phones before making a choice. She stopped to grab a few bags of candy too. She was convinced she could sustain herself on coffee, water, and candy, she even bought a clear plastic bowl to dump it in. She paid for her stuff and walked to work.
The bells above the door drawing attention to her arrival.
"Hey! be right out" Octavia yelled from the back.
"It's only me" Clarke replied making her way to Bellamy's office. She set her new phone on the chair with her purse, she would wait until lunch and set it up. Bellamy walked in and sat at his desk, she pulled out her clear bowl and set it on the edge of the desk.
"What's that for?" he asked.
"You'll see, and you won't be sorry" she smiled
Seconds later she emptied bag after bag into the bowl, Octavia walked stealing a lollipop,
"You know Halloween is like months away" Bellamy looked up at her.
"Yeah, this isn't for Halloween, it's for us" Clarke smiled.
"We're all going to be diabetic" Bellamy laughed.
"At least the fall will be sweet" Octavia joked walking back out onto the floor. Clarke clocked in and followed suit. Bellamy waited until she was out of sight before taking a box of Dots.
