Summary: While escorting Joker and Josie back to Arkham, Robin and Josie get into a fight. Fem Joker. Another AU story.

'Ooh, Robin! I hate you; you get on goddamn nerves! That's why I can't fucking stand you!'

'Josephine!'

Batman tossed Josephine an irritated glance; she reddened and downcasted her blue-green eyes. He'd frequently expressed displeasure of her foul mouth in the presence of adults.

Batman even talked to the clowns about it, and while Harley endorsed this, Joker denounced them, claiming that he was trying to manipulate her through HER child.

Joker had a knack for making everything in Josephine's life all about her. Sometimes he pondered if Joker thought of the child as a daughter or a pet.

At least she treats the child better than she did Harley and those hyenas, so that's something.

'He's a bastard, Batman!' She cried in a shrill voice while edging towards her mother, tears threatening to fall. 'He pulled my hair!''

'Only because you bit me!

'And only because you're an asshole!'

He stopped the car and swiveled around to her; Josephine blanched and looked away. 'Josephine.'

'Well, he is.'

'Why are you quarreling?!'

'Because she's a whiny brat!' Robin replied hotly.

'No, it's because he's a big bully.' Josephine countered.

'How?' Batman challenged.

They veered away from him, only to turn and scowl; Batman scowled as Joker stretched her arms and twisted around to confront the children.

'How?' She challenged with a yawn. 'Answer me, Josephine.'

The children traded glances, then gawked at Batman; they turned away.

'You're not going to tell me, Josephine?' Joker scratched her head. 'Fine. Then sit back, be quiet and fix your face.'

Josephine spun away from her mother defiantly, still pouting. It stunned Batman, he saw Robin was not, but he interacted with her more.

She was usually obedient and cooperative, yet she was here openly disobeying Joker.

He wondered how she would handle Josephine's insolence; he knew how Joker dealt with henchmen that irritated her.

'Josephine Rebecca.' Joker said in a stern voice, snapping her fingers and demanding the attention of everyone in the car. The girl's resistance collapsed instantly, and she squirmed under her mother's gaze.

'Fix. Your. Face.'

Tears fell from her eyes, and her lips quivered, but she brushed them away and fixed her face.

'Now, we gon try this again; what's going on?'

'We were playing.' She sniffed.

'Playing?'

'Yes, ma'am. We were playing a game.'

'Our game just got a little too out of hand.' Robin said quietly.

'That's all.' Josephine occurred.

'We're sorry.' they said in unison.

The only time they admitted guilt together was when they were hiding something. That wasn't all; they're good at keeping secrets, but he decided not to press the situation.

For now, at least.

'They've been in this car for hours; they probably need to stretch.' Joker said, but the look she was giving Josephine told Batman that Joker felt the same: that was not all.

Batman grimaced at Joker as she turned to him, running her fingers through her sea-green hair.

For some reason, the bruises seemed to bring out the color of her eyes.
Her jaw still protruded, but the ice helped; Batman did hate getting so vicious with The Joker in front of the children.

Especially the girl, who knows what she's exposed to when alone with her mother and Harley.

Neither child should witness violence against a woman, but he needed to find a less violent way to deal with Joker.

He glanced at Josephine, who surveyed every bruise; he knew this because every so often, she'd cast a nasty look his way.

She probably thought he was the devil.

'Unlike you and I, darling, they can't get lost in each other's presence.'

He noticed the two glaring at them; Robin often expressed he didn't like their relationship.

And judging by the scowl on Josephine's face, she didn't like it either.

'I would like to stretch my legs.' Josephine said stiffly.

'And I'm bored of sitting.' Robin asserted.

'And I have to go to the little girl's room.' Joker soughed.

'I told you to go before we left!'

'There's an inn a few miles up the road. We can-'

'No!'

'Afraid to get a room with me?' She grinned.

'Knowing you, you'd probably try to escape.'

'Only once we're done.'

'No.'

'Batsy,' she said in a sweet, husky voice as she turned to him, 'we're tired and bored. Gotham will be there tomorrow. Probably. Let's rest.'

'No, it's better if we keep going.'

'Batman.' Robin grumbled, 'maybe a little rest would be good.'

'Please?' Joker said as she pouted her full rosebud lips.

'No.'

'Pwlease?' Josie said in a baby voice, staring up at him with huge puppy dog eyes.

A trick she learned from that mother of hers, and she even pouted her too full lips, mirroring her.

Josephine resembled Joker as much as Robin did him; it was incredible how they looked like them. Batman would often catch her mimicking the clown's mannerisms, trivial ones like her walk, how she smiled, etc. Josephine adored Joker, even though she was a monster, but Batman could understand her reason; Joker is mother, and her father was dead.

Though she inherited her looks, Josephine lacked Joker's aggression, spitefulness, and arrogance.

And her charm.

Batman himself always thought of Josephine as uninteresting and awkward.

She was not as flashy and unruly as her mother, which was okay.

Honestly, Josephine always seemed too frail to be Joker's offspring.

He was genuinely surprised that both Joker and Robin found her so fascinating.

He supposed Robin was obsessed with her because of her mother or -hopefully, not- he had a crush.

Josephine is Joker's only child, but that woman only cares for herself.

Batman glanced at Robin for backup, but the boy only wore a sheepish smile.

'I am a bit hungry.'

And there it is, they had him outvoted.

When it was the four of them, they loved to gang up and vilify him.

He was always the bad guy in this family.

He let out a defeated sigh as they cheered.
