"Robert, come quickly!" Cora called out from the couch.

Robert came running from his study. "What's wrong?"

Cora grabbed his hand. "Nothing is wrong, but you got to feel this!" She put his hand on her belly.

It took a while, but then he felt it, very softly, but he felt it. A kick. He looked up into Cora's eyes. "Thank you for calling me, this is wonderful. Wow, I just felt our little one for the first time." He had the biggest smile on his face.

Cora's heart melted seeing Robert like this. She moved her hand to his cheek. "Are you coming with me tomorrow for the scan?"

"What time will that be?" He asked, still holding his hand firm on her belly, in the hope to feel another kick.

"I have an appointment at 10 in the morning."

"Oh." Robert's face lost the smile. "I have a meeting at 9.00 o'clock."

"Can't you reschedule, for this once?" Cora asked.

"That is not really possible. I am sorry." He pulled back his hand and got up. "I will go with you another time."

"Ok, that is alright." Cora said, clearly disappointed and not able to hide it. He only went with her to the first 12 weeks scan, but never went with her for her check ups. She would ask Rosamund again to come with her.

"Why isn't Robert coming with you?" Rosamund asked when Cora paid her a visit.

"He is busy and can't make time free. It is alright. As long as he will be present during the birth, I am alright."

Rosamund didn't comment and just looked at Cora. "How are you feeling, you are in your 5th month right?"

"Besides, my swollen feet and ankles I am quite alright."

"You look radiant. And your bump is so cute."

Cora felt the baby move and put her hand on her bump. "Do you want to feel the baby?"

"Can you already feel it?" Rosamund looked at Cora in surprise.

Cora took Rosamund's hand and put it on the spot where she just felt the kick. Instantly she felt the baby kick again and Rosamund's face lit up. "What a wonderful thing. Thank you so much for sharing this with me."

Cora smiled at Rosamund. "You are my friend, of course I am sharing this with you!"

Robert didn't hear a thing his client was saying. He was thinking of Cora. John said that it was time for a break, that shook Robert out of his contemplation.

"Robert, what is the matter? You aren't paying attention at all. The client is asking you tons of questions, but you don't seem to hear them." John said annoyed.

"I am sorry, I will pay better attention from now on."

"Can you tell me what's going on. Something wrong with Cora?"

Robert smiled. "No, nothing is wrong with her. The opposite, she is glowing. Today she has her check up scan."

"You really got me puzzled, why are you not with her?"

"She doesn't need me there. She has Rosamund. Can we go on with the meeting?"

John gave him a dark look. "So you are saying, you don't need to be there, while your wife is carrying your child? And at the same time, you can not focus on this meeting, because you are thinking of her. Robert, please go and see if you can make it on time. I can manage this meeting on my own."

Robert started to argue, but John interrupted. "I am not saying this again. Go and be with your wife!"

Robert called Rosamund to ask where they were. They were on their way. Robert calculated he could make it just in time. He didn't say this to Rosamund, but he knew that she knew him well enough to know he was on his way. Hopefully she wouldn't say a thing to Cora.

When Robert arrived at the hospital, he saw Cora and Rosamund getting out of the car. He hurried, to be at the front door before they would enter.

"Robert!" Cora exclaimed. She wrapped both arms around him, giving him a tight hug. "You said, you couldn't come."

Robert shrugged his shoulders. "I made time in the end."

Cora took his hand. "Thank you for coming. I really appreciate this."

"I will go for a little walk." Rosamund said. "Call me when you are finished."

"No, please stay." Cora took Rosamund's hand in her free hand. "You were anticipating on seeing the little one, so I want you to have this experience too."

"I am not sure if it is allowed to have three people in that room." Rosamund said.

"I will make sure, that it is allowed." Robert said.

After the appointment Robert took them for lunch.

"Do you really have time?" Cora asked while taking Robert's hand.

He gave her hand a squeeze. "I made time, John will do the meetings today. Where do you girls want to go?"

"I heard 'The Five Fields' is a good restaurant." Rosamund said.

"Then we will go there." Robert said.

Cora looked at Rosamund and then back to Robert. She didn't understand where this was coming from, but she was excited to go out for lunch with her husband.

They had a wonderful afternoon, and Robert didn't return back to the office. After lunch they had walked around, until Rosamund noticed Cora getting tired.

"Maybe, we should call this a day and go back home." She said.

Cora gave her a thankful look. "That is an excellent idea, my feet can use some rest."

"I am sorry, are you in pain?" Robert said.

"No, not in pain. But the swelling in my feet and legs is just not comfortable." She said leaning into Robert.

Back at home, Rosamund had filled a bucket with water. Cora sat down in the living room, where she thankfully put her feet in the cool water.

Robert disappeared in his office.

"You have a strange brother." Cora said, when Rosamund sat down.

"You married him" Rosamund chuckled.

"I can't fathom him. He was suddenly so attentive today."

"I think John, talked to him." Rosamund said with a smile.

Cora leaned back into the pillows Rosamund had placed there, giving her back some rest. "I think you are right. Well, I am alright with that. I truly enjoyed today."
