Robert kept busy with his work, he was rarely at home. Leaving early in the morning and arriving home late in the evening.

He didn't notice, Cora had some pregnancy problems. She had trouble walking and her back was hurting immensely. The baby had dropped a few days ago, and the pressure on her pelvis was uncomfortable. She tried to do all household things as best as she could.

"Can you arrange dinner tomorrow?" Robert asked when he finally arrived home one evening. "I invited some clients over for dinner."

Cora looked up from her book. "You did what?"

"I invited clients to come dine here. You are an amazing cook and I want them to experience it."

"Did you look at me recently?" Cora asked annoyed.

"What? It is just dinner. Don't make it too complicated, just Beef Wellington."

"Just Beef Wellington!" Cora exploded. "Do you realise how much work that is. I barely manage to cook for myself these days. But if you came home more often, you would have realised."

Robert was stunned. "I didn't realise I was asking this much of you."

"Robert stop this! Don't play the victim here. I am two weeks from my due date, I really can not manage a dinner party. I don't have the energy for it."

"I will take them out for dinner then, if that pleases you!"

Cora gave him a dirty look, managed to get up and wobbled to the bedroom.

Cora was already in bed, when Robert came home from the dinner. He quietly got into his side of the bed.

"Are you awake?" He asked.

Cora didn't react, but according to her breathing she was awake. Robert scooted a little closer and kissed her neck. Cora still didn't react. Robert placed his hand on her belly, instantly he felt the baby move.

Cora moaned. "The little one was finally settling down." She breathed in sharply and tried to move in a different position.

"Do you need some help?" Robert got up and helped Cora. He moulded the pregnancy pillow against her body. "Should I get the other one too, for your back?"

Cora was a little bit stunned, he was asking this, but she said yes.

Before Robert placed the pillow, he massaged her back. Cora felt instant relief and let out a soft moan. "Am I hurting you?" Robert asked.

"No, on the contrary, this is nice, keep going." His warm hands on her back felt like heaven. She had missed his touches over the last weeks and although her body was aching and screaming to be relieved from the weight, she hungered for Robert's touch. She turned her head around, put her hand on Robert's cheek and pulled him a bit closer to kiss him. "Thank you."

Robert moved his hands to her legs and feet, and while he was busy with her feet he said: "I have a surprise."

Cora looked up, she managed to get up a little, to give Robert better access. "What kind of surprise?"

Robert stopped his massage, and got up, leaned over Cora. Her belly was in the way, but he managed not to put his weight on her and kissed her. "You are the real Lady Grantham."

Cora looked at him in surprise. "What do you mean?"

"I bought back Downton and with the estate comes the title. You aren't just Lady Cora Crawley. You are now the real Countess of Grantham." He tried to kiss her again, but Cora turned her face.

"Please tell me, this is a joke." She said holding Robert at distance with her hands on his shoulders.

Robert gave her a puzzled look. "That was what the dinner was for! To make the final arrangements, it's my gift to you for our anniversary. Our son will get the chance to live there."

"Stop saying our son." Cora said through her teeth "And you could have discussed this with me. As I told you before. I don't want to live in the countryside. Please tell me, how disappointed are you going to be, when this little one turns out to be a girl?" Cora rested one hand on her belly.

Robert sat down next to her, resting one hand on top of hers. "I will be happy with a girl, but this one is a boy, I just feel it. And you don't have to move to the countryside"

"Oh, so you are leaving me?" Cora got tears in her eyes and tried to move away from Robert.

He tightened his grip on her. "No, we both won't move to the countryside. The current owner will stay on as a tenant, until we want to live there one day." Cora still looked at him madly. "And if we decide to never move there, we will keep tenants at Downton."

"Robert, why are you doing this?"

Robert pulled his hand back and looked at his hands. "I really thought I would make you happy with this news. We don't have to live there, but the house is back in the family, because of you it was possible. I thought this was the perfect wedding anniversary gift.

Cora looked at Robert's hands and up into his eyes. Her heart softened, she had a soft spot for his puppy eyes. She couldn't stay mad at him. She made the decision to marry him almost a year ago, and he remembered their wedding day. Or at least the month, because their anniversary was tomorrow.

Cora put her hand against his cheek. "I just wish you told me this, before making the decision. But thank you for remembering our anniversary. Now if you don't mind, I will lay back down and get some sleep."

Robert helped her to lay down again and then laid himself down on his side. He stared at the wall. Did he make a mistake? Was she ever going to come with him to Downton? What if she truly wasn't willing? And what if she was right and that little one wasn't a boy. Would he love a girl just as much? He really wished she was carrying a boy. How long until they would know? It could be tomorrow, but she could also keep it in for some more weeks.

The next morning, he woke up to the smell of breakfast. Cora's side of the bed was empty. He got up and found her on a barstool in front of the stove.

"Cora! Why are you making breakfast? You should have woken me! I could have done it. Here give that to me and sit down." He took over the utensils in her hand.

"Darling, I am sitting down, and I wanted to give you a proper English breakfast. I remember, giving you just toast and microwaved tea on our first morning together. Happy anniversary." She stretched out her neck to kiss him. Robert answered her kiss.
