Between parts 1 and 2; 6 months have passed (starts at January ends at June) and we start on July 20th Sunny's Birthday making him 21 the gang rented out their hangout spot since doing it in Sunny's apartment would be cramped and Sunny has surprisingly made a lot of friends the past year (meaning characters from the original story, of my creation, or someone else's) the party goes well save the downer that is Hero (for good reason despite Mari's insistence) until Aubrey and Mari ask Sunny for a favor. GET YOUR MIND CLEANED, what they want to ask is for Aubrey to live with Sunny for a while let's back up bit, so the land Aubrey and her gang's apartment is on has been seized for redevelopment and must move out. Thankfully they have been paid for this huge inconvenience and were even pointed to other places they can move into the problem?
none of the places they saw could accommodate all of them so they must live separately for a while, Aubrey tells Mari this who of course sees this as a great opportunity to improve their relationship as friends (any romance is just a bonus) thought of this idea.
When Aubrey moves in with Sunny it's...interesting to say the least when it comes to rules Sunny just made 4: don't use too much light or water, try to keep the place clean, don't allow anyone in unless he's there, and don't break his stuff; she can technically do whatever she wants but Sunny still has a say of what goes. To subvert expectations Aubrey follows these rules to the T since she while Sunny may not kick her the last she wants is to make him angry and again she still likes him while trying to be compassionate through all he's been through (keyword 'trying' this will come back later),
course that itself takes time, a funny thing I want to add is when Aubrey invites her gang for get togethers Sunny is there which bums everyone out so Sunny asks everyone to pretend he's not there while he proceeds to curl up into a ball, lay down and face a corner yeah he's still a bit anti-social.
Like last time a few developments happen in between major events the first one is the one most are curious about yes Mari and Hero are back together and dating again the only big problem are their thoughts on Sunny, Mari of course loves her brother despite what he did while Hero is still furious at not only Sunny but also their father for keeping that secret for so long (explained more back at part 2 when Sunny was in a coma).
Speaking of Samson, he's honestly doing fine Mari is "okay" with him since he did take care of her but told the Truth to her stepfamily her siblings didn't understand but Susan did revealing she knew all along (again back in part 2) and thus they still live together (and yes Sunny has no animosity towards what's essentially his extended family and even gets along with his new siblings mainly Yuna he just doesn't like Samson). Kel and Basil have remained the same well Kel has Basil meanwhile was beyond shocked to say the least to know everything he thought was a lie but is still none the less grateful to Sunny for figuring it out even though everything was against him and is about to open a flower shop, Kel has started to train seriously though since that tournament is just around the corner.
After Sunny came out of his coma and then to sleep he dreamed he was with Omori again in white space and they were laying down next to each other staring, Sunny faded again but this time Omori was full of life and color finally united he went to the door mewo tagging along on his shoulder and went through to see the room where his friends played was empty even that cat thing was gone which was...foreboding but pay it no mind he went out to the Vast Forest which was bit thicker than last time but was able to find a clearing and, words can't do it justice but Sunny saw a vast new landscape a new Headspace full of adventure and possibilities then he woke up (this is the best visual I could think of). However, the trauma that Sunny went through for 8 long years won't just go away he may have gotten rid of SOMETHING, but BLACK SPACE still exists.
Remember the Venom gang no you don't no one does but they will finally make themselves known yet when did they start? it all started with a man named Albert wanting to make a name for himself he created the Venom gang to slowly but surely well poison this city using its own self-inflicted poison drugs and alcohol. Alberts's motivation and backstory can be left vague and somewhat interchangeable to point is ever since he was a kid he read about people (mainly conquers or criminals and sometimes fictional) from different cultures that were able to amass an empire almost on their own and yes he did read the parts were most of them died due to greed and/or pride but remedied that by thinking "I'm not gonna make the same mistakes" yes I'm serious please bear with me (also Boondocks reference).
To say this is completely naïve dream not even worth mocking would be an OVERstatement however, to say he is cunning, ruthless, manipulative, and has many methods to achieve said dream would be an UNDERstatement and now he is waiting for the right moment to enact his plan after years of building up stock of whatever people will find valuable during a pandemic which he hears maybe happening soon, but before that he has to start cracking down on his underlings and make sure of their loyalty starting with his "favorite" the "hooligans". If you're wondering why, I'm making Sunny go up against a cartoony villain like Albert it's because in a way I originally didn't intend their narrative foils now I'm no professional writer (my mind: NO SH!T YOU F #KING DUMBA$$) but think about it Albert is about wanting everything even if it won't make him happy or leaves the world worse off (like Venom or a virus) now ask yourself what does Sunny want?
if you guess wanting to live a quiet life with friends and family (even Hero and Samson) in faraway town your right that's ALL he wants, he has no real grand ambition save making a family with the one he loves (Aubrey) and enjoy life, but of course being too passive can be costly. The message should be this it's fine to have ambitions and desires, it's also fine to want very little but too much of either will without fail lead to your downfall as we will see in both Sunny and Albert
(this may not be a nuanced lesson, but I didn't want there to be a straight answer it all comes down to what you want out of life and if your happy with it, always strive for more but give yourself a little credit and maybe take a break; I swear I'm not trying to sound pretentious).
Back to the story Albert and Sunny first meet when Aubrey and Sun are at the supermarket shopping (maybe Walmart) Aubrey is waiting outside when some Venom gang members approach her at first it was "friendly" until they mention they need all members on board for an operation and the boss wants to make sure everyone is in, Aubrey says that her and her crew are not and they can kick them out if they want which isn't what Albert has in mind.
See Aubrey despite...well pretty much everything (and mainly after Mari was back) has attracted ALOT of unwanted attention and many men (and women) have tried to "woo" her but she isn't having any of it since the dating game is already a bit much right now and the only man she even wants to be with is Sunny...Sunny, of course since she moved in both them and their relationship has improved but it still needs time and Albert here isn't helping.
When Sunny sees Albert practically forcing himself on Aubrey he just moves not even thinking to push the guy away who then responds with a punch to the face, but don't worry Sunny just grabbed the hand like it was nothing which certainly peaks Albert's interest, and the banter goes like this
Albert "Oh! The little boy has some stones on him"
Sunny "Back off or I'll make you"
Aubrey "Sunny don't waste your time with these punks let's just-"
Albert" who said you could talk this is between me and him, so what ARE going to do?"
Sunny" You'll regret your choices"
Albert "Make me Bitch"
Sunny and Albert took a stance and...it was the same. Both were confused so to confirm their suspicions they walked to an empty part of the parking lot (while looking at each other the whole way of course) and started "sparing" it was so memorizing at first how each of them did a move that the other blocked flawlessly like they have seen and done hundreds of times before, that all changed when Albert reminded everyone that this was a street fight and knocked Sunny down with a dirty tactic Sunny responded in kind by spitting in Albert's face and hitting him with consecutive and rage filled blows by this point they were trying to kill each other and Aubrey called the police and her friends to stop it but when they got there all they found was an aggravated Aubrey and a beat up but still conscious Sunny.
After hours of questioning by the police and their friends Aubrey and Sunny finally make it back home Sunshine just wants to sleep but can't since his crush wants to say something
Sunny "Just say what you want Aubrey I don't care"
Aubrey "I really hate what you did"
Sunny" your welcome not that I wanted your thanks, and don't give that 'I can take care of myself' routine since you didn't use that nice headbutt you have"
Aubrey "okay then why were you mad?"
Sunny "why would you care Aubrey!? Since when have you ever cared about how I feel!?"
Aubrey "S-Sunny I-"
Sunny "you know what don't answer I'm going to go train lock the door when I leave or I'll kick you out"
yikes and just when things were looking up. If you remember from the Characters chapter, I use specific wording for old man Bob saying "is found dead" with implications of foul play yeah it was Albert and I'll expand more on that later, but this thought is what got Sunny angry in the first place and things will only get worse.
Side note all of this takes 2 to 3 months after Sunny's birthday so last Sept or early Oct
Thankfully with help by Mari and Basil both Sunny and Aubrey realize they were being idiots, Sun for blowing up even if there was good reason and Aubs for admitting she has rarely considered his feelings when it comes to...everything but is still trying (like I said). From here there's some fluff between Sunny's Gang and the Venom gang which usually ends with Sunny and/or Aubrey taking care of them like Sunny said she can take care of herself with that headbutt, and that Bat filled with nails which yes, she still has this pisses off Albert to no end and decides to take Direct Action.
This involves Albert finding the other male members of the hooligans beating to near death and kidnapping Kim and Aubrey proceeding to drug them near to overdosing oh yeah, I'm going there and if you're wondering about...the word I won't even type the more disgusting scum of the earth members of the gang (who are most definitely wanted for THAT) want to, but Albert says no.
Not out mercy of course you idiots he just has a camera and a guy who's good at photoshop, safe to say when Sunny is visited by one of the bloody members hooligans (whoever you want) he quickly calls the police and his friends and starts frantically searching eventually finding Kim and Aubrey unconscious and naked in an abandoned storage facility. Everyone is either deeply saddened or furious over this crime especially Kel who had a secret relationship with Kim ever since part 1 after Aubrey had her emotional moment (not right after but you get it), Hero of course blames Sunny with Mari and Kel shutting him down before he starts all the while Basil is thinking how is Sunny?
not well, to say he's snapped and gone off the deep end wouldn't even be the half of it so bear with me one more time, *inhale* so Sunny goes to his father who I somewhat imply to have "connections" good enough to keep Mary a secret so he asks his father (who is more than willing to help for various reasons) to look up the gang members of Venom all the while he trains intensively to get his sweet revenge, his father soon finds out that are at least 100+ members in the gang and has all their records and with his son starts to make a plan which takes about a month.
The plan itself can vary but it's too hit fast and hard without leaving much of a trace not exactly like a ninja just guerilla tactics, before that Sunny as practice kidnaps some members of the gang and...let's be honest just tortures them nothing too ruthless or barbaric unless they honestly deserve it and gets information on all of venoms caches and supplies that he will either anonymously tell the police about or just burn it to the ground, soon Sunny makes an alter ego named Black Sun since yes this the ONE AND ONLY time Sunny becomes a vigilante since the goal is to wipe the venom gang from the face of the earth either by arresting them or burying them.
The moral ramifications and justifications of this will be tackled but just know that Sunny does agree that what he is doing is wrong on so many levels, but his ANGER is beyond reason and is going all in on this, Aubrey and Kim are recovering well by the way and thankfully don't really remember what happened (since the others have yet to tell) Kim is embarrassed as Kel unapologetically cuddles her but when Aubrey asks about Sunny the mood turns sour.
Ok I Lied now bear with me ONE MORE TIME *INHALE* Once again on a rainy day at 12 AM October 31st Sunny enacts his plan to take this wanna be mafia down in ONE DAY as said before he hits fast and hard going for all of the locations where they hide their supplies, taking out any opposition, and either calling the police or burning it down (especially when he finds the pictures of Aubrey and Kim) the brutality of Sunny's assault can vary he knows being a criminal is everyone's last choice and knows practically all the members of the gang so depending on the severity of their crimes he either beats them up a little and tells them to leave the life or if they committed heinous acts without even an ounce of remorse (like THAT which I still won't type) mercy shouldn't even be an option.
Oh yeah, he also at some point with his father's help plays a video calling out the gang
Keep in mind that Sunny is no Batman while he made a perfect plan Sunny is prone to screw ups via goons getting lucky hits, having troubles with larger goons, or being shot at, but since this is my story he's got plot armor sort of...he can shrug of most hits (abnormal durability remember and even some body armor Kevlar of course), can take down the larger goons by being quicker and smarter, and... well he gets shot in non-vital areas and since it's raining his blood washes away.
By 12:00PM Sunny has either spared, captured, or killed all of the members of the Venom gang save for one Albert, before that though Sunny's friends have quickly put together who this Black Sun is on the news with Mari not even wanting to look at him knowing her brother is both killing and causing chaos in the city of course she knows some of them deserve it but seeing a loved one going down a dark path is never easy not helping that it happened once before because of her, Hero is about to tell the police more the stop Sunny from getting himself killed than any personal grudged but is stopped by Kel and Samson, Kel knows that Sunny is in the wrong side stepping the law and taking it in his own hands not like the police were doing a good job anyway Kel says soon getting into an argument with his brother which is where we tackle all of the morality of this before we get to Sunny(where's Basil?).
Sunny tracks Albert to a familiar place...his old dojo inside Albert is waiting for him
Albert "So the old man took in a charity case"
Black Sun "I knew you were a student and you killed him didn't you"
Albert "He was just a loose end didn't need him ratting me out and if I had known about you, I'd at least given you a choice to join me"
Black Sun "or?" the conversation can go deeper but I feel this is a good start but...
Albert doesn't answer no more words are needed both men stripe down till they're shirtless and begin their fight to the death, it's somewhat hard to write a fight scene so let's just condense it for honestly my sake, neither pulls their punches and both men seem equal until Albert pulls out brass knuckles but that's okay Sunny pulls out a knife and Aubrey's Bat some more brutality happens until both men lose their weapons opting to just beat the sh!t out of each other so they keep striking until one of them falls.
Unfortunately, Sunny is the one to fall since he less experienced and has taken more damage over the course of the day unlike Albert who's been in many fights and is in top shape though he has taken a beating, but Sunny still stands up so Albert picks up his knife and charges at him with Sunny accepts his fate and prepares to die along with Albert in one last move. Until Kel suddenly is in front of Sunny wearing his Kevlar and taking the stab, Albert is confused but is suddenly rushed by an enraged Sunny wearing his brass eventually being knocked down unmoving, when Sunny (on the floor because his body is spent) asks Kel why he's here Kel explains that his father also knew about old man bob and asked Kel to go see if Albert and Sunny were there at the dojo so he got here in the nick of time.
They hear the police outside and Kel while suffering a stab wound grabs all of Sunny's clothes and weapons to decrease the evidence against them Sunny meanwhile has another idea, before the police can enter the dojo flames erupt and when it died down all they could find was a charred corpse, Samson found Sunny and Kel passed out in a park and took them to Sunny's apartment.
Two weeks later on November 14th Due to the fact that it was raining, lack of physical evidence, and the dojo burning down there is quite literally nothing to convict anyone much less Sunny since he had an airtight alibi of visiting faraway town with basil deeming this a cold case though it doesn't take a detective to see a lot this seems convenient for Sunny specifically, so what's the Truth basically Samson hired a look alike actor to go with Basil to faraway town in case the police got any ideas with Samson burning the evidence and that's the least important details, after the fight it was Nov 1st Sunny and Kel are in the apartment with Aubrey and Kim who have recovered and essentially Sunny has to stay there for 2 weeks before he can go back to his normal life during this time he is confronted by Aubrey with everything he's done and in the end doesn't care what other people think if needed to he would do it all over again.
Aubrey also doesn't care she knows just as much as anyone else that anger can make you do stupid things though when compared to Sunny who at least thought things through all she did was cause trouble for others including him
Sunny "This was my choice Aubrey"
Aubrey "oh yeah? Then THIS is my choice SunBun"
Sunny "W-What are you"
Aubrey "Making up for lost time"
I should clarify this isn't meant to reward Sunny and they aren't an official couple yet they still have some personal issues to still work out but they have finally come to an understanding and closed the distance between them and can be there for each other...like a couple LOVE IS COMPLICATED! (and he's totally doing THAT while injured but he recovered a little bit beforehand)
It's December almost Christmas a very bad time for Sunny mentally since it makes him think back to the time, he got that damn Violin which arguably caused everything to go bad in the first place but now it's...weird just a month ago he took down a crime syndicate on his own in a single day which came with a lot moral and ethical ramifications that he's still feeling. A little bit after he experienced a real thanksgiving with his family even if it was very different and now, he's about to celebrate Christmas with everyone and he feels...happy...not that he wasn't happy before but there was always a sense of gloom which would remind him why everything went wrong to begin with...because of HIM.
It's not all good because of his recent disappearances, becoming the main suspect of the Black Sun case, and the controversy surrounding his family (meaning due to the investigation and to a lesser extent his comic the general public knows about literally everything that Sunny and Samson did with Mari) he got fired from his job both for his sake and the company's sake, thankfully Samson is more than willing to help Sunny pay rent and Aubrey is going to get a job when the holiday season ends.
When he's at a Christmas party he tries his normal neutral face routine trying not to stand out since he doesn't want to ruin anything else but is shockingly surprised to see that he is the guest of honor since Mari is hosting the party, Mari makes a speech I can't even begin write or think about without tearing up but essentially like Maria before Mari states how proud she is of her brother despite whatever he's done saying that despite reality trying to crush him he said NO and kept going even if it was easier to give up by the end the 2 siblings are full of tears and embrace along with everyone too.
On Christmas day he received a lot of presents but let's focus on five: from Kel a free membership to a gym, from Hero a Cooking set, From Aubrey a Locket that held a photo of them with an inscription that reads "your mine forever", from Basil a photo book filled with photos with room for more, and From Mari a Violin with a word etched into that reads
