Chapter 2
The gang arrive at the Java Lava, Alex, Beth and Allie are taken back on how clean and organized the interior is.
"This is the cleanest cafe I've ever seen" said Alex
"Why thank you, we take pride in this place" said Chuckie
"Hi Dad" said Kimi
"Oh hi sweetheart" said Chas
Chas is in the middle of drying the dishes.
"Before Alex sits down, he shakes his hand.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Mr. Finster, Chuckie and Kimi were telling me all about you" said Alex
"Well… ain't you a polite young man but please call me Chas" said Chas
"I'm Beth and this is our little sister Allie" said Beth
"Very nice to meet you all, please grab yourselves a seat" said Chas
"Smoothies all round Dad, my treat" said Chuckie as he places his money next to the cash register.
"Ain't that generous of you Chuckie, what's the occasion?" asked Chas
"Well..." muttered Chuckie
Not wanting to admit he got detention for pulling a prank on Pangborn earlier that day, Kimi quickly covers for him.
"He got top of the class for his book report" said Kimi making as excuse on the spot.
"Well a Finster on top of the class, I am so proud of you son" said Chas
"Thanks Dad..." said Chuckie
"I can't wait to tell your mother, to celebrate Today's Special Smoothies and Moonpies are on the house!" said a jovial Chas
Chas hands Chuckie back his money.
"You put your money back in your pocket and get yourself something nice Chuckie" said Chas
Chuckie then nudges Kimi, feeling annoyed she dug a deeper hole for him.
"Thanks, Kimi… if Dad finds out I got detention again I'm so grounded, in-fact we will both get grounded" said Chuckie
"What else was I suppose to say bro?" said Kimi
"If Mom and Dad find out, they will both flip. I'm already on my last warning if I get detention again" said Chuckie
"Mom and Dad won't find out, so just relax..." said Kimi
"Have you noticed the way Phil is staring at Beth" said Allie
"I think Phil is trying to hypnotize her with that stare" said Dil
"If he is then Phil can hypnotize her to do my homework" said Allie
Dil gives Allie a high ten.
"Betty can you please help me prepare a large order" shouted Chas
"Be right over, just doing a stock check Chazzy" shouted Betty
Betty ticks off the last of her checklist, she then returns to the front of house.
"Well looks like we got some new faces, are you new to the school?" asked Betty
"Yes Mom, this is Alex, Beth and Allie. They just started school today" said Lil
"It's good to meet you Mrs. Deville" said Alex
Betty gives Alex a tightly squeezed hand shake, she just releases her grip before he feels any discomfort from the grip as she squeezed a bit too hard.
"Please just call me Betty... Mrs. Deville is what my husband calls me!" said Betty
Betty winks and nudges her elbow at Chas.
"Uh.. right… I'm just going to check the oven" said Chas
"Lil can you please tell your brother to stop staring at me, it's giving me the creeps" said Beth
"I think Lil is on another planet by the looks of it" said Tommy
"Yeah and I can see Lil has not taken her eyes off Alex since we left school" said Kimi
"Anyway, I can't keep looking at this lovefest or I'm going to puke… I'm going to the restroom" said Tommy
"Good idea Tommy, I'll go around the back and see if Dad needs a helping hand" said Kimi
Dil and Allie are doing handstands on the floor as other customers waiting in the queue, not sure what to think on what are they are seeing.
"Allie what are you doing?" Asked Beth
"It's a thing Dil has shown me" said Allie
"I really do wonder about you..." said Beth as she looks in disbelief
Tommy makes his way to the bathroom, Allie and Dil hold a impromptu hand stand contest to see who can hold a handstand the longest, Phil continues to stare at Beth making her feel very uncomfortable.
Alex starts to feel bored, he then sees the computers in the far corner of the cafe.
"I'm going to play some games on the computer, do you want to join me Lil?" asked Alex
"Sure..." said Lil
Alex grabs a computer, Lil grabs a seat sitting next to him.
"I'm joining you Alex, Phil won't stop staring at me..." said Beth
Kimi enters the kitchen to see if Chas needs any help.
"Hey Dad, do you need a hand?" asked Kimi
"Yes that would be great" said Chas
"What do you want me to do?" asked Kimi
"Keep an eye on the Moonpies in the oven that so they don't get burned" said Chas
"Okay, can do" said Kimi
"I will make a start on the smoothies, thanks for giving me a hand sweetheart" said Chas
"Your welcome Dad" said Kimi
Chas gives Kimi a kiss on the forehead and then returns to the front of house to prepare the fruit for the smoothies.
Meanwhile Tommy is washing his hands in the restroom, he looks in the mirror and fixes his hair.
"Kimi looks really good today" said Tommy in his head.
He fades into a day dream reminiscing the time they all went bowling, he remembers the moment he placed his hand around Kimi's waist. All of a sudden he feels something weird in his stomach.
"I think I like Kimi..." said Tommy as he looks at his reflection in the mirror, processing the reignited feelings he had developed before he got back together with Rachael
"How will I tell Kimi? What will Chuckie think? I can't stand the thought of losing my best friend again. He didn't exactly take it well the last time" said Tommy in his head.
"Yo Tommy, everything good?" asked Alex
"Hi Alex, yes I'm fine. Just freshening up" said Tommy
"Okay, you been in here for a little while… Lil asked me to check in on you to see if your alright" said Alex
"I'm fine Alex but thanks for asking, you go ahead... I'll join you shortly" said Tommy
"Okay buddy, the smoothies and Moonpies are almost ready" said Alex
Tommy gives him a fist bump before Alex leaves the bathroom, Tommy recomposes himself and rejoins everyone soon after.
"Smoothies and Moonpies are now served" shouted Betty
Kimi helps Chas and Betty serve everyone, before Kimi grabs her own.
"Enjoy everyone" said Chas
"Wow this Moonpie is off the charts" said Beth
"Was the pie killed humanely?" asked Allie
Everyone part from Dil, drops their forks and looks at Allie in confusion.
"The filling is blueberry jelly, it's a sweet pie not a savory one" said Kimi
"Blueberries can feel pain, each and every single blueberry screaming in pain as it's crushed to it's impending doom..." said Dil
"If that's how you both feel I'll have yours and Allies" said Phil
"No I'm good, I'm hungry anyway" said Allie
"Same here" said Dil
"This smoothie is so refreshing" said Alex
"Thank you, Alex. It's a popular choice with customers" said Chuckie
"What flavor is it?" asked Alex
"Strawberry, Bananas and honey" said Chuckie
"10 out of 10, Chuck!" said Alex
"How was your day?" asked Tommy
"boring, the last class was snoresville" said Kimi
"I get ya..." said Tommy
"You okay Tommy, you seem pretty quite since we got here" said Kimi
"I'm alright, just feeling a little bit tired" said Tommy
"Long as your feeling okay, I was little bit worried" said Kimi
"I appreciate your concern Kimi" said Tommy
As Tommy sips on his straw, he unintentionally stares at Kimi, she looks back at Tommy and gives him a quick subtle smile in return.
"I wonder if Tommy likes me now he as moved on from Rachael, he looks really cute but if he does and Chuckie finds out, he will go berserk again..." thought Kimi
