A/N: Finally at the last chapter!, I understand that there is some grammatical mistakes in some of the chapters, I will endeavour to make amendments on another date. I plan to write a few more stories to continue All Grown Up, there will be more adventures of our new quirky duo Dil and Allie. I won't be spoiling anything regarding Tommy and Kimi but all I can say there will be developments in up coming stories.

Chapter 5

After spending the full day at the beach, enjoying the Californian sun, building sand sculptures and swimming in the sea. Lil and Alex are waiting at the bus stop to return home.

"Are you sure you don't want a ride back home?" asked Alex

"I'm good Alex, I paid for a return ticket… may as well use it" said Lil

"I have never experienced a beach before" said Alex

"I'm glad you had fun today" said Lil

"It's been great hanging with you, we should do it again soon" said Alex

"Alex I have something to tell you..." said Lil

"Yes?..." asked Alex

"Ah-ah!" said Phil

He pops out of the garbage can on the curb.

"Phil, have you been eves dropping this whole time ?!" shouted Lil

Phil pulls himself out of the garbage can only to stumble to the ground. He gets back up flicking a rotten banana peel off his head.

"Alex, stay away from my sister!" said Phil

"Take it easy, Phil!" said Alex

"You listen here, Phillip. You can't tell me what to do" said Lil

"Lillian, I seen this type of boy. He will break your heart" said Phil

"If it's any of your business Philip, I was going to ask Alex if he wanted to go to the arcade next weekend" said Lil

"You were?" asked Phil

"Yes Philip, I was showing him around town because he's new to this city" said Lil

"Oh right..." said Phil

"Me and Alex are only friends, if that's what your thinking..." said Lil

"Yeah man, there's nothing going on between us" said Alex

"This is my bus, Alex I will text you later on" said Lil

Lil gets on the bus, leaving Phil behind

"Lil I only had enough cash for a one way ticket" said Phil

"Do you need a ride, my dad is picking me up" said Alex

"Crud… I messed up" said Phil

"Listen Phil, I understand" said Alex

"You do?..." said Phil

"Of course, your just looking out for her because she's your sister" said Alex

"I'm sorry for being a jerk to you Alex" said Phil

"None taken but I think you should apologise to Lil when you get back home" said Alex

"We got off on the wrong foot, friends?" asked Phil

"Friends" said Alex

They both fist bump as Alex accepts Phil's apology.

"I agree, it's going to take a lot of making up to do before I'm back in her good books" said Phil

"There's my dad" said Alex

Dave arrives in his work van, he's then pulls over at the side of the curb.

"Hey Dad, would be cool to give Phil a ride home?" said Alex

"Yes son and you must be Betty's boy" asked Dave

"Yes I am" said Phil

"I'm Dave Kilwolski, come on in" said Dave

"Excuse the mess in here, I've just completed a job for a client"

"What do you do?" asked Phil

"I'm a handyman, I fix things. You break it and I'll fix it" said Dave

"What is that smell?"

As his face makes a gurning expression, as the smells hits his nose.

"Phil was running on the beach, worked up quite a sweat" said Alex

"Well Phil, I would advise you to shower after you exercise in future. I'm just gonna put the window down" said Dave

"Yes, Dave" said Phil

"We are hosting a BBQ tomorrow, give us a chance to get to know everyone. Tell your folks their invited" said Dave

"I love a BBQ, will there be cheese burgers and hot dogs?" asked Phil

"Of course, it wouldn't be a BBQ without them" said Dave

"I heard Tommy's Grandpa got even with your Grandpa last night at the poker game" said Phil

"He sure did, tonight... the winner take all" said Alex

They arrive back at the Deville's house, Betty sees Dave outside and she comes out to see him.

"Hi Dave" said Betty

"Hey Betty" said Dave

Betty suddenly turns her attention to Phil, picking up on the stench he is carrying.

"Philly, you smell worst then a carton of milk a week passed it's sell by date" said Betty as she pinches her nose.

"Are you and the family coming to the Java Lava tonight?" asked Dave

"You bet Dave, I wouldn't miss it for the world" said Betty

"See you then" said Dave

"Okay, see you later" said Betty

Betty and Phil enter the house, Lil is sitting on the couch watching TV and she pinches her nose too as she can't stand the stench.

"Phil you smell gross" said Lil

Howard comes out of the kitchen with his apron on also noticing the bad smell.

"Phew, Phil… what on earth did you roll in?" asked Howard

"I did a very intense run on the beach" said Phil

"Well you better get a bath then" said Howard

"I'm just about to run the bath" said Betty

After a spending some time in the bathtub, Phil is finally clean enough the smell is not so overpowering.

Betty smells Phil with her nose, sniffing to see if the smell is gone.

"Still a hint there but that's much better" said Betty

"Thanks, Mom" said Phil

"Dinner will ready in five" said Howie

Phil goes to the living room to apologise to Lil.

"Lil..." said Phil

"What" said Lil

"I want to apologise the way I spoke to you and Alex" said Phil

"It's fine and to be fair, I guess I had it coming" said Lil

"What do you mean?" asked Phil

"I tried to meddle with you and Wallie, I guess what comes around goes around" said Lil

"If you and Alex ever became a thing, you have my blessing. he's a really good guy" said Phil

"Thanks, Phil but we only just met the Kilwolskis. I want to take things slow with Alex" said Lil

"Good idea, don't rush into it" said Phil

"Phil, Lil… dinners ready!" shouted Howie

"Coming Dad" said Phil and Lil in unison.

Later that evening at the Java Lava

The evening has finally arrived, Lou and Pip will finally settle their rivalry at the Java Lava with everyone invited to witness the final showdown between the two seniors citizens.

The Carmichael's, The Finsters, the Devilles, the Kilwolskis and all the pickles arrive to take their seats. Even Harold, Grandpa Boris and Grandma Minka are in attendence.

Everything has been set up for the chess match, chairs laid for the spectators and a table and two chairs with the chessboard in the centre of it all. The stage is set.

"I've not been this excited to watch a chess match since the play off's on the culture channel" said Chas

"Take your bets" said Betty

"I'm betting on Pip to win" said Randy

"Well I'm betting on Lou" said Boris

"Ladies and gentleman" said Chas

He suddenly feels a wheezy and takes a puff from his inhaler before completing another sentence.

"We have a special guest in attendance this evening" said Chas

Lou and Pip's former army Sargent arrives, looking old with a walking sticking in hand and still maintains the scar on his face. Lou and Pip look like they have just seen a ghost, his presence creates an intense atmosphere like everyone has travelled back in time.

"Lou and Pip quickly stand up to salute their former Superior.

"Pickles, Kikwalsk" I heard you two still have some bad blood between you two" said The Sargent

"Yes Sargent" said Lou and Pip in unison

"I want a good clean match between you, I'll be watching for cheating said" said The Sargent

"Who got in contact with their old Sargent? Asked Stu

"It was me, I found him in a phone book. He lives in San Diego…" said Dave

"I didn't think he was still alive" said Stu

"He sure is… when I told him about Pip and Lou, he said he wanted to come and see his former soldiers" said Dave

"Hush you two, the match is about to begin" said Chas

Three hours have passed, Chas is sweating just looking. Everyone is gripped to the edge of their seats, It's Lou's turn to move, all the pieces have been taken except for both kings. The Sargent inspects the chessboard.

"This reminds me of the battlefield" said The Sargent

"What happens now?" asked Chas

"Pickles can't get Kikwalski's King and Kikwalski can't get Pickles King… so it's a draw" said The Sargent

The Sargent's taxi arrives outside before he leaves he gives the two one last talk.

"Men, it was an honour to have you in my regiment. I hope you two can put this all behind you. You are both brothers in arms during the War and the present" said The Sargent

Lou and Pip stand up and salute the Sargent, everyone stands up in respect of the World War 2 veterans.

"I shall be leaving now, I hope to see you both at the veterans reunion later this year" said The Sargent

"Sir Yes Sir!" said Pip and Lou in unison.

The Sargent leaves, Pip and Lou shake shake hands finally ending their feud.

"I'll give to you Pip, your chess skills are better than I thought" said Lou

"I'm sorry for laughing at you falling over" said Pip

"It's water under the bridge now, we are way too old to be holding grudges" said Lou

"Agreed, can we be friends?" said Pip

"Of Course" said Lou

Everyone in attendance gets emotional, especially Didi she wipes a tear drop running down cheek.

Tommy and Alex come over to the centre to make an announcement.

"Since this ended in a stalemate, you both get a point" said Tommy

"This makes it a draw, technically you both lose" said Alex

"Well I guess this means neither of us has to be a butler for 24 hours" said Lou

"You both made a deal this means you both have to be butlers for 24 hours" said Alex

"It's only fair" said Dave

"Well I guess we will have to honour the agreement" said Pip

"Our BBQ is tomorrow, Lou you can be in charge of kitchen duties" said Dave

"Conflab it, why I do have to be in the kitchen?!" asked Lou

"Fairs fair Pop" said Drew

"Dad, you help serve food and beverages" said Dave

"I guess that's fine" said Pip

The following day

The Kilwolski family finally host their BBQ, everyone is mingling away to each other, while Tommy, Phil, Lil, Alex and Kimi are relaxing on the sun-loungers by the pool.

"This a swell place you have Alex" said Tommy

"I am so getting my tan on" said Phil

"Lil have you put sun lotion on?" asked Lil

"No why do you ask?" asked Phil

"It's a very hot day" said Lil

"I don't need sun lotion..." said Phil

"You'll be sorry Phil, don't come crying when you are red as a tomato" said Kimi

"Where's Chuckie?" asked Alex

"Last time I saw him he was in the kitchen" said Tommy

"He said Redheads burn easily" said Kimi

Chuckie walks over to them and they all get a shock while trying to contain their laughter

"Look at me, I've only been in the sun in less than five minutes and I'm already burnt to a crisp!" said Chuckie

"This what will happen to you Phil" said Lil

"Give it here" said Phil

He splashes sun lotion all over himself realising the consequences of not applying sun lotion, Dil and Allie both cannonball in the pool splashing Kimi.

"Thanks you two, now I'm all wet!" said Kimi

"Lighten up Kimi, we are outside by the pool. I'm going to take a dip in the pool" said Tommy

"Last one in the pool is a rotten egg!" shouted Alex

"I ain't a rotten egg!" said Kimi

Alex is the first one to jump in the pool followed by Tommy, Kimi, Lil and then Phil.

"Looks like your the rotten egg" said Dil

"Darn, I'm the rotten egg" said Phil

Beth dives into the pool, splashing Phil.

"I think that makes me the rotten egg" said Beth

"Beth, how are you?" asked Phil

"I'm doing good, I was wondering if you wanted to hang out with me at the mall next week?" asked Beth

Phil blushes and is lost for words.

"He would love too" said Lil

"Great, I'm going to get myself a hot dog. You want one?" asked Beth

"Yes please" said Phil

Beth strokes her finger under Phil's chin.

"I'll be right back" said Beth as she climbs out of the pool.

"I think someone likes you" said Kimi teasing Phil

"If this goes somewhere be good to my older sister" said Alex

"Don't worry I will" said Phil

Next to the French doors Harold is talking to Susie and Angelica.

"This a great party huh guys" said Harold

"It's alright, I guess..." said Angelica

"The Kilwolski family are very friendly if you ask me" said Susie

Pip in his black suit with a jug of lemonade in hand offers them a drink.

"Would you three like some Lemonade?" asked Pip

"Yes" said Angelica

"Yes please, Mr. Kilwolski" said Suse

"Yes Sir, I am parched" said Harold

"Their you go" said Pip

He fills their glasses with lemonade, Lou comes out shouting for everyone's attention.

"Right everyone, the buffet is now served. Grab a plate and make an orderly queue" said Lou

The buffet is a mix of hot and cold finger food, everyone enjoys eating and having good conversation with one and another. Afterwards Lou with an apron over his suit comes out with a tray of fresh blueberry muffins.

"I hope you all have room for dessert!" said Lou

"They sure smell awesome" said Tommy

"Yeah they smell so good" said Dil

"Since you boys helped me out the last few days, you two first grab a muffin each" said Lou

Tommy and Dil both grab a muffin each and take a bite.

"Wow Grandpa these are delicious" said Tommy

Pip takes a muffin and bites into it as well.

"Well Lou, I'll give to ya. These blueberry muffins actually taste better this time" said Pip

"That's because I put chilli powder in them since you laughed at me for breaking my leg!" said Lou

Everyone bursts out laughing and they all grab a muffin each. The BBQ is a success and now the Gang have new members in Alex, Beth and Allie.
